"I just don't understand" Luffy crossed his arms and pouted. "Zoro likes you, I know he does."
"I'm a succubus Luffy, It's just the lust speaking."
"But you like him, so isn't it okay?"
Sanji leaned back in his chair, head facing the ceiling, a cigarette burning in his limp hand that hung down lazily at his side. Luffy sat backwards in a chair, straddling the backrest.
"No, it's not okay. If I was any other demon or even a human he wouldn't look at me twice."
"You're not either of those things though, so you're lucky. You can't like someone you have never met. Can we eat now? I'm hungry?"
Sanji chuckled, "Are you sure you're a chaos demon and not a demon or gluttony?"
Luffy took the rhetorical question seriously and made a noise of contemplation, "I think so."
Sanji stood up, "I'll go make something for you."
"You should also tell Zoro how you feel about him. He knows what you are, it's his choice. Also he's not a succubus and you still like him."
"Just talk to Ace, so we can get Whitebeard's help."
"Not until Zoro agrees. Sanji, you can do something that makes you happy for once, you're only hurting yourself."
Sanji gave Luffy his biggest smile, "I'll be fine."
"You're lying."
Sanji ignored his friend's accusation, "The food will be done in a bit."
"You deserve happiness too, you know?" Luffy called after him.
"No…" Sanji mumbled softly to himself, "I really don't."
'Even though you're useless I couldn't kill my own son. But you'll go away voluntarily?'
'Don't ever admit that I'm your father in front of other people. It's a shame that I don't want anyone to know. You know that, don't you?'
Flashback of sitting on a large rock, finding the old geezer dead with only a bag of gold. The feeling of dying and knowing that if he could only have one drink of water or piece of food he could live just a little longer. In his last moments as his life as a human looking for a ship to travel by… that never came.
A tear runs down Sanji's cheek. He wanted someone to love him but he was always too weak and unworthy.
Sanji quickly wiped away the tear and got to cooking. Knowing Luffy the way he did he took out more meat than a party of twenty-five people should eat and got to work. It had already been a few days since he had last seen Zoro but he was lucky that the swordsman hadn't summoned him like he had last time. His stomach growled making it harder to ignore undesirable memories.
He had to fix this, he couldn't deal with another heartbreak when Zoro realized he had no feelings towards him. He didn't want to see the swordsman hurt, or to be resented… again. He had enough resentment as it was.
He finished Luffy's food and was happy that when he returned the young demon seemed to have forgotten or just dropped their previous conversation.
"I have great news!" Luffy announced, bouncing up and down excitedly.
"What's that?"
"If I defeat all four emperors of hell then I can become the new Satan!"
Sanji nearly choked on his cigarette, "Are you crazy, they are super strong!"
"Yes! So I need to make a crew to help me defeat them! It can be You, Nami, Brook, Usopp-"
"Nami is human!" Sanji argued.
"Well yeah, but that can be to our advantage! Oh, Robin is friends with Nami and Zoro so she can join too! We need to make Zoro a demon quickly so he can actually help us down here though. There are still some more people that would be nice to have.. Who do you think?"
Sanji just shook his head, there was no point in arguing with Luffy. He was as stubborn as can be.
"What about Franky? We need someone who can turn Zoro into a demon right?" Sanji joked with a chuckle.
"Oh Yeah! That's a great idea!"
"I was joking Luffy."
Luffy just laughed as if Sanji had something really funny, "But I'm not! We will be the best crew around. Oh Franky has an assistant right, we should take him too?"
"The talking racoon?" Sanji ruffled Luffy's hair, truly admiring the demon's childish dreams, "Sure if you can get them all to agree… well… that would be an amazing adventure. I'll be your crew's full time cook."
"We could all eat your food, all the time!" Luffy cheered, "Do you mean it, if I get them all to agree, do you promise?"
Sanji grimed, there was no way that would happen. "I promise you a Luffy."
"It's decided! Call me captain!" The chaos demon cheered.
