Ashlyn stopped the car and stared at the giant fence surrounding the old building. Her four friends Summer, Sasha, Bayley and Charlotte stared too.
"Someone really doesn't want us to leave," Summer pointed. "Look. Barb wire on top. If that gate closes behind us, we're trapped."
"We're supposed to be trapped," Ashlyn said.
"I can't believe we're doing this," Sasha said.
Ashlyn turned in her seat to look at Sasha squeezed in between Bayley and Charlotte on the back seat.
"It's not too late to back out. I won't hold it against you if you don't wanna take part of it," Ashlyn said.
"Girl, how the hell am I gonna get back on my own out here?" Sasha smirked.
"Call an uber," Charlotte suggested.
"And where are we exactly? We've been following strange clues we picked up along the way. Did any of you actually turn on your GPS? It was against the rules and you know idiots like this will check to make sure we win fair and square," Sasha said.
"Why did you have to win a creepy competition?" Bayley asked.
"Because she's that good," Summer said.
"Technically I haven't won anything yet," Ashlyn said. "I was picked to play."
Ashlyn looked at Summer who was sitting in the passenger seat. She was closest with Summer in her friend group. Summer would follow her to the end of the world. When she was elected to be a participant for a show to make it out of this giant house along with a handful of friends, she had asked Summer first. Summer had said yes right away and they had asked their other three friends afterwards.
"Final warning," Ashlyn said. "Anyone wanna get out?"
"No, let's just do this," Charlotte said.
"How hard can it be?" Bayley said.
"Seeing how we can each win 200.000 dollars by making it out, I assume it's very hard," Ashlyn said.
"I'm gonna remodel my kitchen with that cash," Charlotte said.
"Alright, here we go," Ashlyn said.
Ashlyn pressed her foot down and the car slowly rolled through the open gate. She drove up to the house and did a U-turn so the car was facing the fence for when they once would leave again. They all got out of the car and watched the gate close on its own.
"Guess we're stuck now," Sasha said. "I knew it. We're all gonna die in here."
"And there's our drama queen," Summer chuckled.
"What did the rules say? Make it out of the house or make it out of the gate?" Charlotte asked.
"Make it out of the house," Ashlyn answered.
"So why close the gate?" Bayley asked.
"I don't know," Ashlyn answered.
"Maybe to keep intruders outside. There should be cameras in there. It's a game show. They don't want anyone crashing this place," Summer said.
Bayley tilted her head back and looked up at the tall building.
"How many floors are there? Five or six?" Bayley asked.
"Who the hell builds something like that out here?" Sasha asked.
Ashlyn walked up to the front door and looked at the note taped to the door.
"Welcome players," Ashlyn read out loud.
"Uh, that's us," Summer said.
"Walk inside and take the elevator up to the fifth floor," Ashlyn said.
"So five floors," Bayley said.
"Once up there we will release our hunters. Escape them and make it outside alive, and you will win," Ashlyn said.
"Alive?" Sasha asked. "What the fuck?"
"Game show," Charlotte smirked. "Come on, they're just playing it up for the viewers."
Ashlyn looked at her four friends and let out a heavy breath.
"I'm starting to feel nervous too," Ashlyn said. "It's up to you guys. If you wanna leave, we'll leave."
"They already closed the gate," Summer said.
"Fuck it, let's do it," Sasha said. "But I'm personally gonna haunt you all if I die in this place."
"Fair enough," Charlotte chuckled.
"Alright then," Ashlyn said. "Let's do this."
Ashlyn took a deep breath before grabbing the door handle and pushing the loudly creaking door open.
