She walked through the rain alone, feeling lost, lonely and uncertain of herself.
Despite being a strong, capable and well-trained kunoichi with amazing skills, it wasn't enough. Mai needed to train more, she needed to train harder if she was going to compete in the tournament.
Worst of all, she and Andy weren't on the best of terms, especially since the last time she'd seen him They'd fought and trained together for years, but things didn't seem to work. Despite her… irresistible beauty and charms, she seemed to have bad luck with boys.
Most of the men she met had tried to kill her, while others often sought to take advantage of Mai. Andy was perhaps the only one who seemed to be nice to Mai, but their relationship… was complicated, too complicated for their own good.
A tear rolled down her cheek, it was never going to work. But out of every guy out there, there was a man she liked. Their bond was just as special as Mai's bond with Andy, he was perhaps way more skilled and handsome as him.
They'd hung out together many times, especially last month. Perhaps, he could help her.
"Hey…"
She stopped and turned around, her heart skipping a beat as he saw him. Dangling upside down on a web from the roof of a building, wearing his red-blue spandex web outfit, Spider Man was looking at her through the eyes of his mask.
"Oh, Peter…" Mai said happily, "Y-You came to see little old me? That's so sweet of Spider-Man to give Mai Shiranui some attention."
Spider-Man just smiled. "I was in the neighborhood when I saw you." He told Mai, "So, how's it going…?"
"Not well." Mai did what she could to be honest with the web-slinger, "I've been trying to brush up on my training, but I… don't know if I'm good enough. I even feel… lonely, like there's nobody there to fill my heart with love."
"There's always me, Mai."
"A-Are you comforting me?"
"I can see the sadness, you're trying to bottle up your emotions, that doesn't work well. You need more confidence, in yourself and others. Don't ever give up, let me help you find it."
Mai thought about Peter's words, another tear falling down her cheek as the rain ran down her hair. Her mouth formed a smile, a hint of happiness coming through. Mai needed to be happy.
"Your words mean so much…" The kunoichi said to Spider-Man, looking at the superhero with some renewed optimism, "You are a spark of hope, for everyone everywhere, including me…"
"Most people don't think highly of me, Mai."
"I think highly of you, Peter. I-I love you, you love me, we've… spent so much time together…"
Memories overwhelmed Mai's mind, her and Spider-Man's first meeting, when they became friends, their every battle and the first time they ate together. She even remembered when he unmasked himself, revealing his identity as Peter Parker to her.
She and Peter had plenty in common, Mai had troubles with men (like Andy) and Peter had some relationship troubles in the past.
"We have." Peter nodded, reading Mai's mind.
Mai came closer, smiling even more. "Say you love me, Spider-Man." The kunoichi said in a whisper.
"I… I… I love you, M-Mai."
"I love you too, Peter…"
Mai rolled down the mask to glimpse part of Spider Man's face and their hearts beat in unison, burning with love in their hearts as it all welled up inside them, overcoming the negative emotions within.
The kunoichi leaned in and kissed Spider-Man on the lips, the web slinger melted into that kiss as well and the two embraced, making love to each other in the rain. After weeks of feeling nothing but stress, pain and sadness, Mai had finally found happiness.
She and Spider-Man made out, giving each other all the love in the world. Mai held Spider-Man's head still and the superhero gripped the web he dangled down from, their eyes drooped in a dreamy manner and time slowed down, all just for them.
However, this was far from their first kiss, but this kiss… was special.
Peter came down from the web and picked up Mai in his arms, holding her closer to him while she folded her arms around the spidery superhuman's neck.
In a seductive manner, Mai licked Spider-Man on the cheek and the two shared a deep kiss, locking eyes to stare into each other's souls with not even a care in the world.
"Shall we go off to our... special place?" Mai asked her new boyfriend.
Spider-Man nodded, hugging the kunoichi and warming her heart. Together, they headed off across the rooftops to their "special place" as the rain poured on around them. In her heart, Mai Shiranui felt at peace now that she had someone there for her to fill the emotional void in her loving heart; The Amazing Spider-Man.
The End
