The forest was thick with the smell of blood, as a battle had taken place less than a few minutes ago. A battle in which Firestar, the leader of Thunderclan had received a wound; a fatal wound from his long-time nemesis, that had been dead at least thirty moons or more. The ginger tomcat had collapsed on the ground, his mate Sandstorm rushing over to help him as she mewed out, "Get Jayfeather, or any Medicine cat!" Which sounded through the mostly silent forest, "Is something wrong with Firestar, Sandstorm?" A silent whisper was heard as Brambleclaw, Thunderclan's deputy, rushed over to where his dying leader lay.

"Firestar!" He gasped, as tears spilled from his amber eyes and onto his brown-tabby marked coat. Crouching down he could only smell blood and a faint sent of his father lingering on the ginger coat of his leader; seemingly taunting his even from his double grave. "I--" the leader started as clouds gathered in the sky, threatening to pour rain over them, as if mourning their leader already; as cats from Thunderclan joined around. "I know you will be a great leader, Brambleclaw, even if I have to watch over you from Starclan I will see your great reign over Thunderclan." The voice of the Firestar echoed in the cleaning, "Sandstorm, I hope to see you when you reach your hundredth moon--" he chuckled a bit as the pale ginger shecat had tears in her eyes, threatening to spill.

"I promise Firestar that I will join you when I'm a cranky elder." She softly mewed as Cloudtail, Firestar's nephew let out a loud cry, making the others around him loose their composure. "Firestar, you can't go, we still need you, I still need your guidance!" Brambleclaw yelled as he watch the raindrops hit his leader's ginger fur. Firestar, to his emerald eyes knew his time was near, the ghosts of Ravenpaw, and Bluestar his former leader who had let him into Thunderclan in the first place looked disheartened at the scene in front of them. Firestar was on his last life during the fight, almost every cat knew it, he would join Starclan with the Warriors, Leaders, Medicine cats, Queens, Apprentices, and Kits that watched from the stars above. No matter what even in his last words cats listened, "Brambleclaw, I wouldn't have choose you as my deputy if I hadn't known that your would be a great leader, just remember what you have learned from this day and --" the ginger tomcat's voice began to fade away as he spoke, "lead Thunderclan into the greatness I couldn't have."

Those words where spoken with the confidence of a cat that wanted to be there for the future, but was slowly loosing his last life. The clan's Warriors started to mewl out that it was unfair for him to leave them, that they still needed Firestar as a leader in the future, even some apprentices that where there started to join in. The old ginger leader just smiled and closed his emerald eyes, as he felt himself stand tall by Ravenpaw and Bluestar, he must have passed on. "Firestar, please--" came the voice of a heartbroken Sandstorm who had been trying not to cry even though her other half was dead. "He hunts with Starclan now." Leafpool said as she looked at her dead father, the tears and raindrops drenched every cat there, the crying as those words where spoken increased.

"Shall we go?" Firestar asked Bluestar and Ravenpaw, as they sadly nodded, "I hope you are ready, to see everyone again." Bluestar spoke in the tone of a leader that commanded respect and loyalty. "That I am, Bluestar." Firestar sadly mewled. Then something happened, a flash of light ripped the ground where ghost Firestar was and he fell into it. A horrified Ravenpaw and a terrified Bluestar looked down as the ground closed up;leaving them alone and without Firestar.
