"Quiet! Act natural! I hear Frisk coming."

Frisk rubbed the sleep from their eyes as they walked into the kitchen. The bright room and cool breeze from open windows helped Frisk wake up enough to smile at their family already up and ready for the day. The smell of sausage, eggs, and syrup for pancakes also helped. Everyone was in the kitchen, except Sans, who most likely still pretended to sleep in his room, and Asgore, who didn't live with them yet and would come for dinner after his work.

"GOOD MORNING!"

"Good m-morning!"

"Morning, punk!"

"Good morning, my child. I am almost finished with breakfast. Would you mind getting the milk from the fridge?" Toriel's smile was wider than Frisk thought usual.

"Of course, my mom," Frisk replied. They heard Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys stifle a laugh in their places at the table. They glanced over at the monsters inquisitively, but the trio already recovered from whatever had made them laugh and were pretending to be absorbed in watching Toriel cook.

Frisk opened the fridge. Many pairs of eyes stared back at them.

"they're watching you," a voice whispered from behind her.

Frisk shrieked and slammed the door shut.

The room erupted into laughter. Undyne banged on the table with a fist. Alphys covered her face while her shoulders shook. Papyrus' eye sockets sparkled with delight, in the strange way they did when he was amused. Toriel laughed so hard she dropped her sausages on the ground.

And Sans… He stood behind Frisk and grinned at them. They hated his darn shortcuts when he used it for something like this.

Frisk stared at their family with their poker face. "You guys googly eyed the food packages while I was asleep last night?"

"yep."

"This is your prank for April Fools' Day?"

"Yes." Toriel bent over to grab her sausages.

"I'm guessing this was Sans idea?"

Undyne would have responded, but she was too busy putting a dent in their table. Alphys answered for the fish monster. "O-of course."

The monsters grew nervous. Frisk wasn't emoting at all.

"DID YOU FIND IT FUNNY, FRISK?"

A smile spread across Frisk's face. The monsters were surprised to see the mischievous glint in the child's eyes. "Yep, it was funny alright, but you guys better watch your backs. I've been planning for this day since last year."

Frisk walked out of the room without another word.

Author's Note: I wrote this last year, but I missed the date to post here, and I felt weird about posting this story not on April Fool's. So, I've been waiting a year to post this story here.

Thank you for reading!
