"Well," Kella grinned. "It was one hell of a good run." She was completely surround by bokoblins, which she could've taken out no problem, if it wasn't for the Moblin restraining her. "But I guess all good things come to an end sometime, isn't that right?" She smirked slightly as she heard slow clapping echoing around her. "Ghirahim."
"Hello Kella." His face was calm, but Kella knew better. He was masking his fury with a cocky smile, and a fabulous hip swish.
"Surprised?" She questioned, her eyes challenging him silently as she let a smug smirk spread across her face.
"...Yes quite." He narrowed his eyes briefly. "Leave us, you filthy mongrels." He said calmly, the air twitching with power. His minions didn't need to be told twice, they quickly turned and left the room quickly, streaming out the doors in big clumps.
Kella rubbed her arms from where the Moblin had touched her. "Ew. Now I'm going to smell." She cringed slightly.
"I'd say that's the least of your problems, Skychild." Kella was unimpressed even as he put up a gate around them, she was confident as ever.
"Oh please. If you really wanted me dead, you would have come yourself instead of seding that child after me." She scoffed, rolling her eyes. "You can talk the talk, but you don't walk the walk. What I figure is, for whatever reason, you think I benefit you more alive than dead. Can't say I'm exactly complaining, but still." She met his gaze calmly. "I want to know."
He started to walk slow circles around her, hands behind his back as he circled her like a vulture. "What do you want to know?"
"Why?"
"'Why?'?" He watched her carefully. "Why what?"
"You could've killed me, and I mean really killed me. Not like all those other times when you could've ended this...toxic thing we do. It wasn't a matter of you just choosing not to. In the Fire Sanctuary, you had every intention to end it. but you didn't. You changed your mind at the last second. Why?"
He didn;t reply at first just stopped in front of her, watching her every move carefully. "I'm not sure what you mean..." He trailed off causing her to scoff and stalk towards him.
"Fight me." She snarled.
"What?"
"You heard me. If you didn't bring me here to talk, then I want you to fight me." She stared deep into his eyes, softening her gaze. "I want you to either fight with me, do another of your "games", or kill me. Because if you don't plan to do anything with me, then I'm better off dead."
He stared at her for a moment, as if seeing her for the first time, a smile slowly spreading across his face as he slowly took a step back from her. "Well, if you insist." He smirked at her and slowly took her hand in his and led her away. She was tempted to yank herself away, but he seemed so excited, like a puppy. She couldn't bring herself to do it. 'Huh. When'd that happen.'
Kella blinked as they came to a stop at the bottom of the hill that his castle was placed on. "We're here." Ghirahim announced, spreading his arms out wide. "Welcome! To the Market!" He exclaimed dramatically.
"The market." She repeated giving him a look.
"What? What's wrong with it?"
"Not exactly the most creative name, is it?" She pointed out, hand on her hip.
He huffed. "Whatever!" He crossed his arms over his chest and turned his nose up. Kella turned to examine her surroundings. There was a big gate a few feet in front of them that seemed to stretch up forever, far taller than any one person would need it to. There was a stream running along the bottom of the gate, which surprised her more than she would care to admit. The gate opened with a loud creaking sound that set Kella's nerves on edge, making her want to jump for cover. The gate was old. It looked like the slightly touch of force would send it toppling over onto unsuspecting victims, and it seemed big enough to be able to kill anyone instantly.
"Well? Are you going in or not?" He snapped in her ear, causing her to jump slightly.
"Oh, uh, y-yeah!" She quickly jumped over the stream and took slow deliberate steps into the "Market", on guard, preparing herself for the worst. What she saw, however, was something she didn't expect. It was, a market. There were stores lined up all along the street, selling a large variety of different items. Not the unusual, grotesque type of items she was preparing herself for either. There were meats, a few flowers, some weren;t even dead! She stared in awe around, not caring when she felt her jaw hanging open. There was a store that was advertising ancient flowers, and another store that was advertising different spell books.
She whipped her head around as she heard laughter, expecting another creepy, sadistic demon to come after her. She started to withdraw the dagger she had stolen from the demon back in her cell but stopped short as she realized they were just kids. Demon kids, but still, kids. There was a small group chasing eachother, another younger group playing hopscotch, and the oldest group play fighting, using twigs as swords. She noticed a small child, a little boy, off by himself, sat in a corner with his back against the wall and his knees brought up to press against his chest.
She frowned and slowly, hesitantly, headed towards the child. "Um, hi there." She did a small wave.
The child slowly looked up. "You... Are you talking to me?" He gasped, eyes wide.
"Who else would I be talking to?"
"I-I don't know." He stammered.
"What' your name, kid?"
"N-Nicholas."
"Nicholas? Wow. So demons do have normal sounding names!"
"Mhm." He nodded quickly. "Sometimes."
"Well, it would appear that my escort took my advice and buggered off, and you seem like far safer company. Mind giving me a tour?" She questioned, kneeling down to his level.
"Reely?" He gasped jumping to his feet causing his hair, which actually looked like fish gills and scales, to come loose from his hood.
"Yup. Wouldn't offer if I wasn't serious. I mean..." She paused for effect. "Searious." He giggled at her.
"That was good!"
"Whale, thank ya!"
"Over there is where they sell flowers. And that's where I go to school..." He trailed off then, staring at the school with a sad expression.
"Do you like school?" She questioned.
"It's okay...there aren't any over FBD's there though."
"FBD?"
"Fish Based Demon." He informed, giving her a long look like she was stupid.
"Oh."
"Kella!" She whipped her head around and stared at Ghirahim as he came storming forward.
"Oh shit. Honeymoons over, kid. Better skidaddle!" She warned him.
"What? Why? That's just Ghirahim!" Nicholas grinned and ran towards him flinging himself into Ghirahim's arms.
"Hey there guppy." Ghirahim grinned as he lifted Nicholas up. "How's that spell I gave you working?"
"I can't get it to work..." He deflated, looking sad and defeated.
"Did you ask you ask your teacher for help like I told you to?"
"Yeah, but she won't help." Nicholas admitted, frowning. "She said it's too advanced for me."
Ghirahim frowned, scoffing. "Oh please. I was doing spells far more complicated then that when I was your age!"
"Yeah but... I'm not you." Ghirahim grinned and sat him down on a fence post.
"True. I can see how a fabulous demon lord like myself can be a hard thing to live up to. But do your spells successfully, and improve your wardrobe and maybe one day you'll be where I am!" He declared, striking a pose.
Kella watched, eyes wide. This was a different side to him that she had never seen before. She'd seen him outraged, she'd seen him calm, she'd seen him cocky, and she'd even had to deal with his sadistic flirtatious side, but this was a whole other story.
"Now, unfortunately, I must bid you fair well, dear star fish. I have my own little minnow catch." He caught her eye at that, making her go rigid. "Ta~" He ballerina-ed away and over to her gripping her wrist tightly. "I would've thought it would be common sense not to wander off when you're in a town full of demons who live off of the sweet ecstasy of human blood!" He snapped quietly in her ear.
"Aw, you do care." She cooed back, wincing slightly as he tightened his grip. "Alright, alright, jeez, I'm sorry okay?" She scoffed as she followed him back to his castle. "What was even the point of that little expedition, anyway?"
"A point." He replied as he lead her through the castle. This was a new part of the castle that she had never been in before. It definitely wasn't the dungeon.
"What point?" She retorted, glaring at his back.
"That not all demons are disgusting, heartless creatures." He replied, not looking at her, though his shoulders did sag slightly.
'What?' She stared at him for a long moment. "Why do you care?" She asked, staring at his back as he led her through the halls at such a quick pace that she actually had issues keeping up. She nearly bumped into him when he came to an abrupt stop and spun around to face her.
"Why wouldn't I?" He retorted, stepping aside.
"Where are we now?" She questioned, irritated.
"This will be your new room." He shoved her into the room. It was the same size as her room back at the knight academy. The room had a bed in the middle of the room, and a bookshelf and desk. "I have a lot of lessons to teach you. You won't be able to learn them properly in the dungeon," He commented. "Unfortunately." He added quickly before he stepped back and out of the room, locking the door behind him.
Kella stared at the door for a moment before she sat down on the bed in a huff, thinking.
"Not all demons are disgusting, heartless creatures." His words echoed around in her head.
"Why do you care?"
"Why wouldn't I?"
She sighed, rubbing her hands over her face and falling down on her back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. "He may have a point..." She murmured to herself as she recalled how he was with the Fish Demon Child. He was so gentle and helpful. "Maybe..." She trailed off. 'Are you really thinking what I think you're thinking Kella? He's a Demon! He has tormented you ever since you first met him!' She remembered all of the fights she'd had with him, all the threats he had made towards her. "But then again..." She trailed off as she remembered the Fire Sanctuary and how he had been about to kill her but hadn't, she remembered the tortured look in his eyes, she had known he was contemplating it. She sighed, digging her finger nails into her scalp. 'Maybe there's more to him than you think... Maybe he's better than you think...'
"Argh! What the fuck are you thinking Kella. You're going crazy." She grumbled as she stared at the ceiling.
'Still though, it would be nice if he could change...'
