Wings And Speedy Feet

Vampirina let out a sigh of relief as school let out for the day and she turned to her friends. "I don't know about you guys, but I'm so glad we have tomorrow off from school," she said.

"Yeah, a four-day weekend," said Poppy with a smile.

"And my mom said I could sleepover at your house, Vee," said Bridget with a big smile.

"That's great, Bridget," said the vampire girl, also smiling. "Poppy, will you come too?"

"Let me ask my mom, but I'm certain she'll say yes," the brown-haired girl said.

As they headed outside, they saw Mrs. Hauntley standing there with Edna. "Mama!" Vampirina said happily, running up to her.

"Hi, Mom!" Poppy said, hugging her.

"Hi, Miss Oxana. Hi, Miss Edna," Bridget said in greeting.

"Hello, girls. How was school?" Edna asked.

"Kind of boring today," Poppy said honestly. "Oh, Mom. Can I sleep over at Vampirina's house tonight?"

"You know what? Your mother and I were just discussing that, Poppy," said Oxana with a chuckle.

"Really?" Vampirina asked hopefully.

"Yes. You see, Edgar has to go have some work done on his teeth because of the bullies punching his mouth yesterday," Edna said sadly.

Poppy remembered that. "Is he going to be okay, Mom?" She asked.

The woman smiled at her daughter. "He'll be fine, but we're going to be gone for a few days," she said. "So I asked Oxana if she could watch you while your brother and I are gone."

"And Bridget's mother had a meeting pop up unexpectedly, so Bridget, you'll be staying the weekend with us too," said Oxana with a smile.

"Yay!" The young girl said happily. While she could scare easily, she knew she was safe at the Hauntley's house and she loved having sleepovers with her friends.

"Alright, we best get you girls home so you can grab what you need for a few days," Edna said with a smile. "Oxana, I'll bring them over in about an hour."

"That would be great, Edna," Oxana said with a smile.

An hour later, Poppy and Bridget were in Vee's room and they were playing with the vampire's special dolls. Demi popped in and startled a shout out of Bridget, who then giggled at seeing it was just him. "Demi!" She groaned goodnaturedly.

"Sorry," he said with a smile. "Just wanted to see how you girls were doing."

"We're doing good," Poppy said just as a knock came at the door and Chef Remy came in with a tray full of snacks.

"Bonjour, girls," he said with a smile.

"Bonjour, Remy," Bridget said with a grin and Poppy echoed her as they stood up and hugged the skeleton, who hugged them back. Vampirina joined in too with a smile.

"I thought I'd bring you girls up some snacks," he said. "Enjoy."

"We will, thank you," Vampirina said.

Moments later, the girls were enjoying the snacks. "Mmm! Chef Remy makes some of the best snacks," Poppy said.

"No argument there," said Vampirina.

Bridget nodded before she remembered something. "Vee, did I leave my book here last time?" She asked. "I've been looking all over for it."

"Oh, yeah! I knew I forgot something this morning," the vampire said. "I think it's in one of the closets. Demi put it there for safekeeping until we could give it back to you."

"Um, which closet?" The bespectacled girl asked.

Vampirina fell into thought. "I think it's the one just down the hall," she said.

Nodding her thanks, Bridget got up and went to go find the closet to get her book. It was a favorite story of hers and she was glad that her friends had found it for her.

Reaching the closet, she carefully opened the door, peeking in cautiously before seeing the light switch and turning it on, breathing a sigh of relief as she didn't see any monsters in there. Granted, she didn't completely mind monsters, but she scared easily, especially when she was alone.

Swallowing, she entered the closet, looking around to find her book, not seeing two green eyes watching her before she felt something grab her, cover her mouth with something so that her surprised scream was muffled, turn off the light, and shut the door, making it completely dark in the closet. Letting out another scream that was muffled by the hand on her mouth, Bridget struggled to get free, but was trapped. The light suddenly came back on and she froze as she saw herself looking at an odd creature.

It stood on two legs, had blue hair that looked like spines in a way, and it's fur was blue while it's stomach was a tannish-peach color. It's green eyes looked at her with a curious expression as she saw it wore white gloves and had red shoes on its feet. "Who are you?" He asked. "And what are you doing in this spooky place?"

He sounded young, but a bit older than her. She swallowed and tried to get free, so he removed his hand, but the moment he did, she let out a scream, to which he covered her mouth again. "Shh! Keep it down!" He whisper-hissed at her, grunting in surprise as she managed to punch his shoulder hard enough to make her release him and she got up to run, but he moved even faster and blocked her way out. "Hold on a moment!" He said, keeping his voice down.

"Monster!" She screamed out in fear, quickly jumping back, but he followed her and finally cornered her. "Leave me alone! Please!" She pleaded.

"Whoa, kid, calm down," he said, approaching her as she curled up into a ball. "Hey, don't do that. I won't hurt ya."

Bridget didn't move and he hummed in thought before it hit him. "I wonder," he said aloud before wiggling his fingers into her right side.

Squeaking in surprise, the girl went to move, but the strange creature pinned her down. "Oh, no you don't," he said, chuckling. "Come here, you little squeaker."

She squeaked again before laughing as he tickled her sides and stomach. "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" She laughed out. "STOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOP!"

"Nope!" He said, grinning at her. "Cootchie coo! You're sure a ticklish human, aren't you?"

"Sonic, what are you doing?" Asked a voice and he looked up to see Tails was watching him and he grinned.

"Making sure she doesn't bring the others running," he said, not letting up on tickling the bespectacled girl.

The Fox cocked an eyebrow before looking at the girl and he couldn't help but smile as her laughter was contagious. "Allow me to join you," he said, jumping down and tickling the girl's neck, making her laugh harder and she squealed when the hedgehog tickled her stomach.

"Ooh, I think I found something here," the blue-furred creature said teasingly.

Bridget was gasping for air now. "Please," she pleaded. "No...No more."

The Fox nodded. "Don't scream," he said as they let her up. "My associate and I will not hurt you."

She nodded, sitting up now as she looked at them. "Um...what kind of monsters are you?" She asked curiously.

They smiled. "Not monsters, kid," said the blue-furred one. "I'm a hedgehog. Sonic the hedgehog."

"And I'm Tails the Fox" said the Fox-like one.

Bridget blinked. "A hedgehog and a Fox?" She asked.

"That's right," said Sonic. "You got a name, kid?"

"Bridget," she replied before reaching forward, but pausing before she touched his quills. He smiled.

"Go ahead, but be careful," he said. "My quills are sharp."

She carefully pet them, amazed to feel that they were soft. Tails smiled and came up to her. "What are you doing here, Bridget?" He asked.

"I'm having a sleepover with my friends Poppy and Vampirina and came in here to find my book I had left behind last time," she said.

"That one?" Asked Sonic, pointing to a book on the shelf and pulling it out to hand to her.

She nodded. "Yes, thank you," she said.

The door opened and Poppy and Vampirina gazed in, pausing in shock at seeing the two newcomers, who looked surprised. "Hey, Bridget, are those your friends?" The blue-furred one asked.

She turned and saw her friends and nodded. "Yeah, they are," she said. "Poppy, Vee, meet Sonic and Tails."

Vampirina smiled instantly. "Cool! New friends!" She said, zipping up to them and making them blink before Tails smiled.

"Me and Sonic are brothers " said Tails "He's 15 and I am 8 + I am the brains out of the both of us"

"Hmm, seems rumors of a vampire family living here are true," he said, amused as the child zipped up to Sonic, who looked shocked that she could run so fast.

"Wow, I knew vampires were known for speed, but that kid is fast," he said.

Poppy giggled. "So, what exactly are you guys?" She asked curiously.

"We're Mobians," Tails said with a smile. "I suppose the term 'alien' would best describe us."

Bridget cocked her head. "But you're not green and you don't have pointy antennae," she said.

Sonic burst into laughter while Poppy and Vee giggled. Tails looked amused as he playfully tickled the bespectacled girl's neck, making her giggle. "True," he said, gently tweaking her nose to show that he was amused.

After they calmed down, Vampirina was curious. "What brings you guys to the Scare B&B?" She asked.

"Well, we're looking for Eggman, our enemy," Sonic said. "He stole a Chaos Emerald from us and we need to get it back."

"What's a Chaos Emerald?" Bridget asked.

"A very powerful gem," Tails said. "It can give one great power. Eggman wishes to use this power to conquer and destory, which is why we have to get it back."

Poppy shivered. "This Eggman guy sounds creepy," she said.

"You don't know the half of it, Poppy," Sonic said with a serious look on his face.

Just then, the house shook and they heard laughter. "Eggman!" Tails said in warning.

Sonic picked up Bridget and the five of them headed out of the closet, meeting Chef Remy in the hallway. "What's going on?" The skeleton asked before his eyes widened at seeing the two newcomers.

"Forget them!" Came a voice that Sonic and Tails recognized. "Find that Emerald! It's got to be here somewhere!"

Vampirina gasped. "What's he talking about?" She asked before seeing the giant robot come up to the doorway. "He's going to tear down our house!"

"Not if we can help it," said Sonic firmly.

Boris came upstairs in worry. "Girls!" He said in worry before seeing the two there with them. "Who are you?" He demanded to know.

"It's a long story, pal, one we don't have time for right now," said the hedgehog as he handed Bridget to him. "Take care of the girls. Tails, can you distract Eggman while I turn that robot into scrap?"

"Yes," said the fox and they both leapt into action.

Oxana came running down the hall with Demi and Gregoria behind her. "What's is going on?!" The vampiress asked in worry before seeing the giant robot and the mad scientist. "That man's going to wreck our house!"

"We won't let him," Demi said firmly before spotting the madman and getting an idea. "Gregoria! Feel like breaking something?"

"Don't have to ask me twice," the gargoyle said as Demi picked her up and they headed straight for the mad doctor and the ghost dropped her on the small ship the doctor was riding in.

"What the...?! Get off, you stupid rock!" Eggman yelled.

"Oh, you did not just call me that!" Gregoria said as she began punching holes in the ship.

Demi giggled and pulled on the man's long mustache. "Over here!" He said before disappearing and pulling the other side of the man's mustache. "Over here!" He repeated as the man flailed his arms to stop him.

"Get away from me, you blue-sheeted menace!" He roared out. "Robot, get them!"

"Nuh-uh!" Sonic said, smashing through the robot quickly, making it fall backwards and hit the ground before he turned to look at Eggman, who quickly hit the controls and threw Gregoria off his ship. Demi flew down and caught his friend while Sonic growled in frustration at seeing Eggman was getting away. "I need to get higher!" He said.

Vampirina grinned. "Mama, do you have that potion that makes us vampires fly without becoming bats?" She asked.

Seeing what her daughter had in mind, Oxana nodded and gave her a potion. The young vampire drank it and then flew upwards, grabbing Sonic's hands and making him yelp as he was lifted up into the air.

As this was going on, the robot suddenly jerked to life and a claw shot out, catching Bridget and making her scream as it flew her towards Eggman. "Bridget!" Poppy cried out.

Tails jumped into action, using his Two Tails to fly through the air, soon catching up to Sonic and Vampirina. "Tails! Get Bridget!" Sonic said. "We'll get Eggman!"

Nodding, the Fox took off and Vampirina looked at him. "Ready?" She asked.

"Ready!" He said with a smile, ready for some more action.

"Here we go!" She said as they managed to catch up. Sonic swung down and landed on the evil doctor's ship, spying something and grinning.

"Vee, I've got him! Grab the shiny thing!" He said, using the word 'thing' instead of 'gem' so the evil doctor would be distracted.

She nodded and as she saw the hedgehog frustrate the doctor, she saw the shiny gem and grabbed it, pulling it free and a beeping sound started up. Hearing that, Sonic grabbed Vampirina's hand and jumped from the ship. "Fly, Vee!" He said.

She did so just as they saw Tails get Bridget free and the Fox was carrying the girl, who held onto him tightly before they were back on solid ground. An explosion made them look up to see Eggman was defeated and the madman retreated away in anger.

Poppy grinned. "That was so cool!" She said excitedly.

Introductions and explainations were made and Vampirina handed Sonic the gem she had gotten from the doctor. "Nice work, kid," said the hedgehog.

Boris smiled. "Why don't you two stay for a bit?" He asked.

"We'd love to, but our ride should be here soon," Tails said gently.

"But knowing we've got friends in this world, we'll come for a visit sometime," Sonic said before getting an idea and using his speed, he zoomed around the kids, tickling them playfully. They laughed and tried to catch him, but he was too fast. After a bit, he stopped and the girls giggled before hugging him.

"Thanks, Sonic," Bridget said softly.

"You guys are awesome," Poppy said.

"Be sure to come visit," Vampirina said.

Sonic smiled and nodded. "We will," he said before they heard a plane engine and the two saw their friend Espio who lowered a rope for them. Grabbing hold of it, the two Mobians waved to their new friends before they flew away. The Hauntleys and their human friends smiled.

"We always have a blast when we sleep over at your house, Vee," said Poppy.

"True," Bridget said with a giggle.

"Totally," the young vampire agreed.

Sonic and Tails looked at each other and nodded. "We're definitely coming back here for Halloween," the hedgehog said.

The Fox chuckled. "I had a feeling you were going to say that," he said as they flew through the portal back to their world, relieved that all was safe again, thanks to their new friends.
