AN: Although I plan on continuing my two most recent Klaine fic (Make This Year Count and New York Is A Whole Different Animal) I find that when rewatching the series, I only really enjoy Kurt in Seasons 1-3 and that is only some of the time. So, I wanted to put Blaine with some other people. This is an AT (alternate timeline) so definitely different from the show and what I've written before. I hope you enjoy.

Chapter One

This was different. Dalton Academy was different from the school he had been at before but he didn't really want to be where he had been before. He had been beaten up after the Sadie Hawkins dance after he had decided to come out. Coming out had always been scary for him and he hadn't even told his parents, there had only been one person he had told of his family and he was pretty sure that Cooper hadn't been listening. He wasn't even sure that his parents understood him or why he had gone to the hospital after the beatings.

He put a hand through his hair feeling the gel on his fingertips. They hadn't said anything about it being prohibited at this school and it felt like a helmet to him. It was a safety device. It was something that made him feel that the bullies couldn't hurt his head again. Well, he also didn't think that there was bullying at this school either or maybe that was all secret.

As he walked into the history class and stood by the front to ask if there was assigned seating. He could hear the people talking about him. He was short, he was the new kid, he had bruises on his face and bruises on parts hidden by the uniform. He knew he was weird.

"Hey, new kid," a brunette boy said to him as he went to go sit by the window and Blaine's eyes floated to him watching him. The boy had a cocky and arrogant grin but there seemed to be at least a little heart to him and Blaine wondered about him. Face like a weasel? No, that was harsh and he was trying to shed that from his life.

"You must be Mr. Anderson," the teacher said as she entered the classroom and Blaine nodded. He had gone to elite schools before, his parents were wealthy after all, but nobody had addressed him with that formality for a while. "Welcome to the class," the teacher said before pulling out a manilla file and handed it to him. "Syllabus and course description and homework and events calendar. I'd like to see you on Friday afternoon so that we can discuss makeup work and what transfers from your old school, we can make an appointment for that after class."

"Thank you," Blaine smiled before looking down. "Where should I sit?" he asked and the teacher hummed before looking at her seating chart and to Blaine's disappointment she gestured to a desk that was far from the brunette whom Blaine already had interest in.

"You can take that seat, third row from the back and two seats in," she instructed and Blaine nodded before approaching the seat and sitting down. He saw the rest of the class come in and take their seats and looked to the side when a rounded face boy came and sat down.

"Hi," the boy said as he held out his hand to Blaine. "You must be a new student. Don't worry, everyone at this school is really nice and it's a nice place if you've ever been bullied," he said as Blaine knew that the boy was noticing all the signs that he had been beat up. "I was bullied a lot because of my weight," he said in a pleasant manner. "Name's Trent, it's good to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, Trent. I'm Blaine," he said and Trent looked at him.

"You any good at history?" he asked with a pleasant chuckle and Blaine nodded. "That's great," he said, "well this class is pretty straightforward so if you're good at history already you're going to be fine. It's one of my favorite subjects. Are you…do you play any instruments?"

"A couple," Blaine nodded and Trent grinned.

"You should come watch the Warblers perform. I'm in the group but only a very minor part really but still, it's fun. You should come watch," he said and Blaine nodded. It had been a while since he had been seen in a positive manner and invited somewhere, hopefully this would be a huge turn around in his life.
