The team arrived in LA and split off into their groups, Rossi and Simmons took one car to the beach, Reid, JJ, Lewis and Alvez took another to the college and Prentiss headed to the station.
JJ and Reid headed to Rose's room and were greeted by her roommate, Shauna. "Hey Shauna, I'm SSA Jennifer Jareau and this is Dr Spencer Reid."
Shauna nodded her head and moved out of the way to let them in "the principle told me you would be coming" she said as she sat on her bed, pointing to the bed across from her. "That's Rose's side of the room."
Reid nodded his head as he went to look around. JJ turned back to Shauna. "Are you and Rose friends?"
Shauna shrugged her shoulders "I wouldn't really call us friends, we got on but we were two very different people and our schedules never really put us in the same place at the same time."
"How were you different?" JJ asked.
"Well Rose was kind of a nerd, and she was really into journalism, she wrote for our newspaper. I on the other hand am here on a sports scholarship."
"So, you wouldn't know if Rose had any enemies?"
"Rose was a quiet girl and she seemed to get on with everyone, so I don't think she has any enemies. Although she started working on a new project and became quite secretive, would spend late nights in the library. She wouldn't tell me what it was about, so I have no idea what she was working on."
"Thanks Shauna" JJ said, smiling slightly as her and Reid left the room and headed down to Tess's room. "Find anything?"
Reid held up a notebook and a laptop "maybe we can get into the laptop and see what she had been working on, maybe whatever this project was led to her death." He said as they headed in to Tess's room.
Lewis and Alvez were in Jenny's room, talking to her roommate Layla. "Jenny and I were really close" Layla said "although we liked different things, we've been friends since kindergarten. She was quite shy and didn't have many friends, but then she joined up to write for the school paper and made some friends. She was friends with the two girls, Tess and Rose."
"Did she have any other friends that worked on the paper?" Lewis asked.
"No, I think it was just those two, they were all lovely and quiet girls. I don't know why anyone would be after them."
"Were they working on anything together?" Alvez asked.
Layla fell silent for a moment whilst she thought "Mhm, Jenny did mention they were working on something big, but she couldn't tell me yet. The three of them plus two other girls were working on it, although I'm not sure who as she never mentioned their names. She said she would tell me right before they published it. I tried to get it out of her, but she would not budge" she said getting up and going over to the desk, handing Alvez a notebook. "This is her notebook she always uses for the newspaper; it didn't make much sense to me but I'm sure someone in the station could work it out."
"Thank you" Alvez said. Lewis and Alvez said their goodbyes before meeting up with Reid and JJ, the four of them headed back to the station. Once the arrived the team found Prentiss in one of the offices.
"Jenny was friends with out two other victims, apparently they were working on something bug" Lewis said.
Reid placed the laptop on the table "Rose's roommate didn't know much about her but said she started working on a project and became quite secretive."
"Tess's roommate has been back home for over a month due to an injury, so we didn't get much from there either" JJ said.
"So, whatever this project is, could be what's making these girls our unsubs target" Prentiss said.
"Jenny's roommate thinks there are two other girls helping but doesn't know who as Jenny never said their names, I was thinking maybe she jotted something in the notebook" Alvez said has he flicked through the pages.
Rossi and Simmons soon joined the others. "The sites didn't say much, they weren't dumped there, it seems like they were dumped into the ocean and brought in by the current"
It was getting late and Prentiss could see everyone was getting tired, so she decided to call it a night, ordering everyone in bright and early the next day. Once at the hotel they split off into the three rooms, Simmons and Rossi in one, Alvez and Reid in another and the three girls in one.
JJ was in the bathroom having a shower whilst Prentiss and Lewis sat on the beds, Prentiss playing on her phone and Lewis finding a movie. "Is there anything going on between you and JJ?" she asked curiously.
Prentiss looked over and Lewis "what makes you ask that?"
"When JJ had her head on your shoulder whilst on the jet, I know she does that a lot but this time it seemed different, more like a loving way rather than a friend way. That sounds silly because how can you get that from a head resting on a shoulder, but you know."
Prentiss smiled slightly as nodded her head "well, we do have feelings for each other."
Lewis laughed a little "please, we all new that."
"All of you?"
Lewis nodded her head "yeah, we all started placing bets on when you two would finally realise and admit it. Pen had her money on Christmas, hence her little plan with the mistletoe."
Prentiss laughed a little "we aren't a couple, but we've told each other how we feel."
JJ then walked out and sat on the end of the bed Prentiss was on, drying her hair "what are you two laughing about?" she asked.
Lewis winked as she stood up "oh nothing" she said before heading into the bathroom.
JJ looked over at Prentiss with a raised eyebrow. Prentiss smiled "they apparently have all got bets on when we would realise and tell each other our feelings and when we would become a couple."
JJ rolled her eyes and smiled "of course they have" she said as she got up and hung her towel on the back of the chair. She then went around to the side of the bed and got under the covers, watching as Prentiss continued her game of candy crush.
Prentiss loomed down at JJ and saw how heavy her eyes had become "you should get some sleep" she said softly as she leaned down and quickly kissed her forehead.
JJ nodded her head "goodnight" she said softly as she closed her eyes.
Lewis then came out of the bathroom and Prentiss went and took her turn. Once she came back out both girls were asleep, quietly she turned off the lights and climbed into bed, drifting off to sleep.
