Prologue: The Gauntlet-er, Cartoon Glove-is Thrown

The students at U.A. High School-specifically, the students who made up Class 1-A-were in for another typical day as they studied to become the newest generation of heroes...or so they thought. It became clear that they were in for no ordinary day after their homeroom teacher, pro hero Shota 'Eraser Head' Aizawa, started the day off by delivering some rather unusual news. The students' immediate reactions were a combination of curiosity and a healthy dose of skepticism.

"An...inter-school competition?" Izuku 'Deku' Midoriya asked.

"No offense, but what other hero school can compete with U.A.?" Mina 'Pinky' Ashido followed.

"Who said anything about it being a hero school?" Aizawa posed nonchalantly.

Both of their respective questions touched off a wave of chatter throughout the classroom, leaving Tenya 'Ingenium' Iida to stand up and restore order, with plenty of his usual arm thrusts involved.

"Everyone, don't get cocky about this," he stated. "Whoever our teachers managed to find as challengers, even if they scoured the entire world to do so, we owe it to them and ourselves to fight with honor and do our best!"

"Good point, Mr. Iida," Aizawa said, "though in this case, you might want to use 'scoured a whole other dimension'."

"Other dimension?!" the shocked students wondered on hearing this.

Midoriya immediately got out his notebook and started scribbling down in it. "Is it even possible? Someone with a quirk giving them the ability to jump between dimensions? I mean sure, it's probablynotdifficulttoimaginesinceSchrödingerprovedhoweasytwoormoredimensionscanexistwithinthesameplaceandtime,buthowcouldthisquirkworkinthefirstplace?Andarethereanydrawbacks?Doesitinvolveopeningportals?MaybesomethingsimilartothewayThirteen'squirkworks?Ifso,whatkindofdimensionordimensionscanitopen?Maybeoneofthoseworldswherewehaveevilcounterparts?Oronewherewe'reallfictionalcharacters?Also,howcomeI'veneverheardofsuchapowerfulquirkbefore?Howcansomeonewiththatabilityhideforallthis-?"

"Tone it down, Midoriya," Aizawa implored. "You're overthinking things again. (As usual.)"

Midoriya looked up upon hearing his teacher, and realized, based on the looks Mr. Aizawa and the whole class gave him, that he'd been motor-mumbling again, causing him to turn red with embarrassment. "Heh-heh, sorry," he said quietly as he put his notebook aside.

"Y'know, in all honesty," a new, Brooklyn-sounding voice said, "sometimes it's just a matter of makin' a wrong toin at Albuquerque. An' I say that from experience."

Aizawa and the students turned in the direction of the voice at the doorway to the classroom, where two people were standing. While one of them was U.A.'s own Principal Nezu, he of the rodent-like stature and nice suit, the other one made a few jaws drop in utter surprise. Said newcomer was a bipedal, gray-furred, cartoony-looking rabbit with white on his belly and feet, wearing a matching pair of gloves. Both the rabbit and Principal Nezu were nibbling on some carrots.

The rabbit looked towards one ash blonde-haired student who was giving him a rather surly glare. "Eeeehhh *nibbles on carrot some more*...What's up, Bak?"

The surprise soon died down as Principal Nezu stepped up to make a more formal introduction to the newcomer. "Students, allow me to introduce you to Mr. Bugs Bunny, principal and chief administrator of the prestigious ACME Looniversity, where the next generation of toons hone their skills, wit, and senses of humor as they prepare to go out into the world and make people laugh. We are quite fortunate that Mr. Bunny has agreed to the idea of an inter-scholastic competition between our institutions."

Bugs took a brief moment to chime in. "Me and the other staff figgered, might be as fun as that game we played wit' Michael Jordan a while back." Hearing this made more than a few of the sporty students of Class 1-A raise their eyebrows in surprise.

Nezu continued. "The premise is simple: you, the students of Class 1-A, will face off with either one of the students of ACME Looniversity, or, for more of a challenge, one of those same students and their respective mentors. To spice things up a little, the match-ups will be completely, totally randomized. In that sense, it will be impossible to know what your Looniversity opponents will do, meaning you'll need your wits about you in order to win. The challenges will begin after school, so make sure you are in your costumes at the training grounds outside by the anointed time. Till then, enjoy your classes for today!" With that, Principal Nezu and Bugs headed towards the former's office to finalize the remaining details of the competition, leaving a, quite frankly, stunned and speechless group of students.

The silence was eventually broken by Hanta 'Cellophane' Sero. "I got a bad feeling about this..."

"Different franchise, Sero, *ribbit*," Tsuyu 'Froppy' Asui said in turn.

To be continued...

**Author's Note(s)**

To better help myself get back into the groove of writing longer-form stories, I opted to challenge myself with a remake of a funny little crossover story by author FlimFlam3, "The Great School Battle". (He gave me his permission after I asked.) Taking another approach from FlimFlam3, while I will be keeping the match-ups from his original story, I open the door for you to suggest any match-ups to see how I can pull them off. Now join me, as we see how quirks stack up to good old cartoon physics...
