Hello everyone! We hope you are having a good day! We would like to thank our reviewers Dawofmorning and onyx115 for their nice comments. It encourages us so much when people take the time to say something.

On a more serious note, after we posted the chapter last week we heard the news that Darren's brother Chuck had passed away and we were both very saddened to hear it. We extend our deepest condolences and hope the family finds peace in their grieving as well as anyone else out there affected. - A and K

Kurt was settled with Blaine's face right beside his. They were laying cross ways on his bed, trying to catch their breath after that kiss. The thought of what they just did made Kurt blush. He hadn't kissed many people before and never that… intense. He had wanted this for so long that now it had finally happened, he was certain he was dreaming even though he didn't really dream anymore.

"So… can I say that I really like your lips? 'Cause I, like, really do… like a lot." Blaine said glancing over at him.

Kurt laughed. Trust Blaine to break the silence with something silly like that. He glanced back, but his eyes were drawn to Blaine's neck instinctively. He closed his eyes and looked back at the ceiling. The ceiling was safe.

"I like your lips too." He said, purposefully not looking at Blaine. But he was certain the boy was wearing a self-satisfied smirk that he got when he knew he was right. They were both comfortably silent, letting the reality of their feelings sink in a moment.

Kurt cleared his throat. "So, you kissed me."

"I did."

"And how long have you wanted to do that? Because I've wanted to kiss you for a very long time." Maybe it was all the kissing, but Kurt had no idea who this bold person was. When their lips touched, apparently a dam had broken and destroyed his filter.

"Oh, me too. I just couldn't." Blaine shifted on the bed so that he was farther away from Kurt. Moving away from Kurt felt like going from sunshine to freezing rain, but he knew he had to have this difficult conversation. Before he let his heart get any more attached to Kurt, he had to know about McKinley. If what Wes had said was true, he needed to know what he could do for Kurt. He didn't know how vampires worked. Their education didn't go far past vampire plus pointy fangs equals bad. He mentally rolled his eyes at the fact that no one ever thought it was important to tell them that vampires could be so damn beautiful and amazingly sweet.

"Listen, Kurt," he began. This wasn't going to be the most comfortable talk. Or the most endearing one, since Wes had dug into Kurt's private life without permission. Before he could continue though, Kurt had sat up.

"I won't let you say this was a mistake or that you want to forget it happened." He wrapped his arms around himself in what looked to Blaine like a protective stance. Kurt was bracing himself for the worst. That broke Blaine's heart.

"What? No way! I meant what I said, I love you." Blaine sat up too and made sure to look Kurt in the eyes when he said it.

Kurt looked down, but smiled a little. "Okay."

Blaine pulled him back down into their original positions.

"I guess I should explain myself before I ask anything. It's only fair." Blaine sighed. "Of course you know I'm a werewolf."

"To which I have many questions, like do you lift your leg to pee?"

Blaine ignored that. He knew by the tightness of Kurt's smile that he wasn't relaxed yet. He took a deep breath and began. "I am the alpha's son. My dad runs the Northern Territory of Ohio. That makes me the next alpha." Kurt listened quietly. "My dad thinks that I need to find a partner. Someone to run the pack with."

"Like an arranged marriage?" Kurt asked wrinkling his nose in disgust.

"Not exactly… More like I have a list of suitors and I have to pick one of them. Those are the guys you've seen me with."

"That sounds like multiple choice arranged marriage." Kurt stated plainly.

Blaine let out a bitter laugh. "Yeah, I guess you're right." Kurt put a hand on Blaine's arm in what he hoped was a comforting gesture. Blaine smiled at him.

"So, why don't you tell him that you don't want to marry any of them? I mean, you're still in high school. It's kind of ridiculous." Kurt knew he was probably pushing him, but he needed to ask these questions, he needed to know what Blaine thought. Where they stood.

Blaine shifted slightly away from Kurt.

"I'm going to be the alpha. Cooper won't do it so, it's up to me."

"Is that why he lives in LA?" Kurt asked.

Blaine nodded. "He never wanted to be alpha. He fought about it with my dad, but luckily I did. He helps my uncle with his pack and gets to follow his dreams. I guess it all worked out."

"Is he being forced into marriage?" Kurt asked with probably more aggression than was warranted.

"It's way more complicated than that," Blaine defended. He wasn't sure why he was since he hated this whole thing too. Maybe he could explain it. "Look, I've wanted that my whole life. It's what I've always answered when I was asked as a kid what I wanted to be when I grew up. It's in my blood. Does this part suck? Absolutely, but I guess I'm willing to compromise on certain things to get where I want." He brushed a fingertip against Kurt's lips. "Well, I was until I met you."

Kurt smiled at him and it was finally a real one without fear. Blaine hated he was about to have to chase it away again.

"Kurt, I need to ask you about something… something important. What happened at McKinley?"

Kurt blanched immediately. He got up and went over to his desk and gripped the back of the chair. Blaine knew he had broached a sensitive subject.

"How… how do you know about that?" This was not going to be a fun conversation.

"Well, I knew some of it, but Wes kinda… looked into it."

Kurt whipped around a hurt look on his face. "You had Wes look into me?" Now anger was making storms in Kurt's eyes.

Blaine got up and walked over to Kurt, but he jerked away when he tried to touch him. He supposed he deserved that.

"I didn't ask him to. He did it on his own."

Kurt looked confused as well as hurt now. "Why? Why would he do that?"

Blaine wrung his hands. "He was trying to convince me not to… like you. Kurt, I would never ask him to do that, but he did and he told me some… intense stuff. I know what officially went down, but I need to know what really happened."

Kurt shook his head. Blaine would think he's a monster. He was a monster.

"I- I attacked him. Karofsky." Blaine recognised the name. He was the one who bullied Kurt. "I attacked him and dad had to try and cover it up."

That couldn't be it. There was more to this.

"What did he do?" Blaine knew Kurt wouldn't just attack someone. Not his Kurt.

Kurt looked at the floor. "It doesn't matter. I attacked a person. I'm just as bad as the vampire that killed my mom."

Kurt was almost shaking. He never voiced these thoughts because he was too afraid to hear them. He shut his eyes tight. He couldn't bear to see the ashamed look on Blaine's face. Suddenly, there was a strong grip on his shoulders. He opened his eyes to see Blaine standing in front of him gripping his shoulders and frowning.

"You are not bad Kurt! You are good, and kind, and compassionate. You would never hurt someone unless you had to. What did Karofsky do?"

Kurt couldn't look away from the hazel eyes staring into his own.

"He- he kissed me. I stood up to him and told him off and he kissed me."

Blaine felt a jolt of anger go through him. The anger, the fear Kurt must have had. To be assaulted like that, it was unforgivable. Kurt let his eyes fall. Blaine released his shoulders and let Kurt fall into his chest.

"You must have been so scared."

The words took Kurt by surprise. He had been scared. Blaine hugged him closer.

"I'm- I was…" he didn't have the words to say what he felt.

Blaine pulled him over to the bed and sat them both down.

"You can't keep calling yourself a monster, Kurt. It's not the truth. Something bad happened to you and you defended yourself. You did nothing wrong."

Kurt felt tears sting his eyes and let himself relax into Blaine's arms. He had kept this secret in so long, it was like a giant weight had been pulled from his chest confessing it to someone he felt safe and loved with.

He just let Blaine hold him for awhile and Blaine was happy to do so.

To say that Kurt had a spring in his step was an understatement. He was almost skipping down the hallway. He and Blaine were together! Never in a million years had he thought that this would happen to him. Sure, he had hoped and wished, but secretly he didn't believe it could be true. He had a boyfriend. Blaine Anderson was his boyfriend. They had agreed on that fact after Kurt's little breakdown. They also had agreed to keep things secret for the time being until they could figure out what exactly to do about this.

He was so engrossed in his own happiness that he didn't notice the hand jutting out and taking his arm until he was being pulled into a dark, empty hallway. He yelled out, but a hand clapped over his mouth. All terror flew away when he saw Blaine's glistening eyes.

"What the hell Blaine? I could have hurt you!" Kurt admonished him as he shoved him away without much roughness.

Blaine smirked. "I would have defended myself with my killer werewolf skills." He bounced his eyebrows.

Kurt rolled his eyes, but couldn't stop the smile from creeping on his face. "Is there a reason you pulled me into a creepy, dark hallway, under risk of vampiric mutilation?"

He was answered by Blaine's lips on his. He was surprised, but returned the kiss happily. They parted and Blaine smiled at him.

"Would you, Kurt Hummel, do me the honour of accompanying me on a secret date." He frowned then. "I wish it wasn't secret, but with both of our situations I don't know how we are going to make this work. I just know I want to be with you any way I can."

Kurt felt affection bubble up in his chest. Blaine had such honest sincerity in his eyes.

"I want that too. Maybe we can't be open about it right now, but we can find a way. I want to be with you too, every step of the way." Blaine grabbed Kurt's hands in his and kissed them softly. They kissed once more before Blaine was pulling away again.

"So you'll go on a secret date with me?"

Kurt laughed. "Yes, I will go on a secret date with you Blaine Anderson." They both laughed. "Now, we better go before anyone finds us suspicious."

Blaine nodded and led the way back into the hallway. It felt like betrayal to drop Kurt's hand, but he did it anyway. He would make it up to him later.

That night, Blaine had it all planned out. During his boring history class, he worked out a secret code that would tell Kurt the coordinates of the spot to meet at in the woods for their secret date. Of course, he couldn't be seen delivering it to Kurt himself, so he sent Nick to do it. His friend was reluctant, but eventually after the hundredth please, he gave in.

Blaine smirked at his own cleverness. He was standing outside in the woods waiting for Kurt. This would be the best date ever. He felt like Romeo waiting for Juliet except he would have a better ending to his story. He hoped.

Kurt heard a knock on his door and when he opened it, Nick was standing there looking especially annoyed and wordlessly shoved something into his chest. Kurt took it and Nick turned on his heels and walked away. Kurt shrugged and looked down at the items he was handed. It was a piece of paper with some scribbles on it and a small chest with a combination lock on it. He looked down at the paper.

For our date was scribbled in what could only be Blaine's loopy hand writing. Kurt examined the small chest that could fit in his hand. He tried opening it, but it wouldn't budge. There was nothing telling him how to open it or what was in it. Shrugging, he set them on his desk and went back to his homework. Two hours passed and he was really focused on his trigonometry questions when his door flew open. He screeched at the sudden intrusion. Blaine was standing there looking irritated.

"There you are! Where have you been?" Blaine yelled.

Kurt wasn't sure what was happening. "I've been here doing homework! Why are you busting into my room like a maniac?"

"You were supposed to meet me!"

Kurt looked at Blaine like he was crazy. "You never told me that!"

Blaine looked down at the small chest sitting on the desk. "You were supposed to open it!"

Kurt looked down at it as well. "It takes a combination. How am I supposed to know what it is?" Blaine looked back at Kurt.

"Didn't Nick tell you the hint?" Kurt shook his head.

Blaine took a deep breath and smiled at Kurt. "If you'll excuse me, I have to go murder my friend." He left the room before popping his head back around the corner. "Tomorrow. Six. West edge of the woods." He ducked out of Kurt's room before ducking back in and pecking a quick kiss to Kurt's lips. Kurt smiled and nodded before Blaine left again.

Jeff tightened Blaine's bow tie, while smiling at him. He had the perfect first date outfit. Nick sat with his ear buds in, ignoring what was happening for "plausible deniability."

"Our little alpha-to-be is growing up, Nick." Jeff wiped a tear from his eye.

Blaine rolled his eyes. "I'm actually going on this date since someone—" he glared at Nick sitting on the couch, "—isn't going to mess it up."

Nick made a show of turning the volume up on his phone.

Jeff brushed them both off and patted Blaine on the back. "Stop bickering you two! Now Blaine, you must be respectful and a gentleman." Blaine nodded along as he was messing with his buttons. "Always make sure to ask before you shove him against the wall and claim his mouth with vicious lust."

That caught Blaine's attention. He turned red. "Jeff! I- we - I'm not-" Blaine spluttered.

Jeff smiled deviously and pulled Blaine along to the door.

"Let's go and claim your bounty, alpha!" Blaine made to yell at him again, but Jeff playfully pushed him ahead. Blaine straightened his already straight bow tie and made his way to the edge of the woods. Kurt was already waiting when he got there. He smelled him before he saw him.

"Kurt!" he said happily.

Kurt turned around and smiled back at him. "Hi," he said quietly.

Jeff hung back and tried not to watch even though he was squealing on the inside at how cute they were. Blaine had tried to keep the kiss a secret, but he was also painfully obvious and he cracked like an egg when Jeff grilled him. Of course, he swore himself to secrecy before Blaine would give him details.

Blaine took Kurt in. He was wearing a red and white pin stripe button up with light wash jeans and a pale blue scarf. He was breathtaking in Blaine's humble opinion.

"Hey, you look amazing."

Kurt blushed and looked at the ground. "You do too."

He shyly looked up and Blaine thought he was going to keel over from cuteness.

"Where are we going?" Kurt asked before either of them could blush themselves to death.

"It's a surprise," Blaine replied with an impish grin and took Kurt's hand.

He led him into the woods, walking for some time before coming to a small clearing. The thick forest opened up to a hill looking down on a plateau sprouting clumps of flowers. The sun was just setting and several stars were starting to come out. It was beautiful. He also noticed the basket and folded blanket laying there. Kurt looked over at Blaine who was already staring at him.

"Blaine, it's beautiful!"

He smiled, pleased Kurt liked it and turned to look out over the scene. "I found this place during my first year at Dalton. Always thought it was amazing. I wanted to bring someone I really cared for here. I wanted to bring you somewhere that meant something to me."

Kurt felt like his heart was beating again. Of course it wasn't, but he felt more alive then he had for a long time. He took Blaine's hand in his and brought it up to his mouth, placing a kiss on it.

"This is more than I ever hoped for a first date, Blaine. Thank you." They shared a smile for a long moment.

"Shall we sit?" Blaine asked finally. Kurt nodded as Blaine spread the blanket out on the grass. Kurt sat with his legs folded up under him and Blaine sat beside him. They were both aware that Jeff was somewhere in the distance, but they tried to ignore him as much as possible. Blaine opened the basket and pulled out several sandwiches, fruit, dip, and some other snacks. They sat and shared easy conversation while they ate, gravitating closer into each other's sides.

"Elliott wants me to join this coven and I don't know. It just seems so… intimidating."

Blaine nodded. "Well, don't do anything you're uncomfortable with. I don't know a lot about vampires, but if those meetings are anything like pack meetings, it will be fun. There's something about being around everyone whose just like you. People who get it."

Kurt took this in. He did feel quite lonely. He had his dad and Blaine and the New Directions, but there wasn't anyone who understood what he was going through when it came to the vampire part of him.

"I could see that being nice."

Blaine nudged him with his shoulder and Kurt smiled. Kurt heard a twig snapping and jerked his head around. Blaine looked back too and then at Kurt.

"It's just Jeff." Blaine assured him with a sniff.

Kurt looked over to him as he popped a strawberry into his mouth. "I kind of forgot he was here. So, why is he following us? I notice he and Nick follow you around a lot. Even more that Wes and David."

"They have to follow me everywhere," Blaine said as he ate a strawberry as well. "They are kind of like really annoying body guards."

"You need body guards? Am I that scary? Or is someone threatening you?" Kurt sounded a little worried.

Blaine laughed. "No, nothing that serious. It's just a precaution. Every once in awhile someone goes rouge, but most people are cool."

"By 'goes rouge' you mean...?"

"Just like everyone else, the pack has to advance with the times. There are some people in the packs that think we shouldn't though, like we are betraying our ways. It's like this whole arranged marriage situation. In the past, I wouldn't really have had much of a say. But at least now they let us pick. Some packs don't even do that anymore." He shrugged. "There's crazy people everywhere though I guess." Blaine scooted his legs up to his chest and sighed. "Sometimes I feel stuck, like I have to do what's always been done. I really want to be alpha, but I don't want to be the same alpha as all my ancestors. I want to do things differently. I want to make the pack better." He turned a meaningful look on Kurt. "I want to date someone I am in love with."

Kurt smiled and linked their hands. "Maybe your dad will understand."

Blaine scoffed.

"He seems okay with you dating guys."

"That is actually a funny story..."

Blaine was sweating, he hated sweating cause it made his curls go crazy. He was standing outside his father's office door and pacing. What would he say? What would his FATHER say? What if he got angry?

"Come in, Blaine!" He heard his father's commanding voice from behind his door. He took a deep breath and opened the door.

"Hey, Dad."

His father looked up from his desk and grinned at his son.

"Sorry, I had to take that call." Blaine waved it off. "What did you want to talk about?" He put down his papers and turned his full attention to his son. Blaine felt like he was under a microscope as he dropped into the soft leather chair in front of the desk. Then he remembered why he was there and sat up rigidly straight.

"I- I wanted to uh… tell you something." His father nodded in understanding and let his son stumble over his words. "I know that you expect a lot from me, I expect a lot from myself. But I need you to know me as I am. Who I am. What I am."

"Okay…"

He squirmed under his father's weighted stare. "I…I'm gay!" Blaine yelled. He felt a million emotions going through his head he squeezed his eyes shut. There was a beat of silence.

"Oh, okay."

Blaine opened his eyes and saw his father looking at him, amused.

"You… you're not upset? Annoyed? Angry? Hurt?"

His dad scowled at him. "Blaine, it's the twenty-first century. Your uncle's gay. So is your cousin Lydia. I'm sure statistically there's more. What on earth have I said or done to make you think I would be upset?"

Blaine felt like this was a little anticlimactic. He didn't want him to be angry, but he was expecting a bigger reaction than this. Maybe one manly tear.

"But I thought you sent Uncle Morris to LA in exile."

His father raised an eyebrow. "First of all, this isn't some fantasy novel. We don't exile people. Second, your uncle wanted to pursue the ceramic figurine circuit, which apparently is big in LA. We still talk. He sends us a Christmas card with all his ferrets every year. Plus, he has his work cut out for him dealing with your brother."

Blaine didn't mention he thought LA was where they sent anyone in exile because Cooper was sent away when he didn't agree with his dad. Truthfully, he felt a little foolish now.

"Oh… I guess I worried over nothing." His dad smiled before he got up from his chair and went around his desk to be face to face with his son.

"Blaine, no matter what, you are my son and I love you. You're going to take over the pack one day. I don't care if it's a man or a woman by your side."

Blaine felt happy tears start to flow. "I love you too, Dad." He hugged his father who patted him on the back. He was never the affectionate one out of Blaine's parents, but he would never deny his son a hug when he needed it.

He heard his father gasp. "This is great news! Think of all the alpha's sons we could set you up with! I never thought of the possibilities, but this is perfect!"

He just had to ruin the moment.

Kurt smiled at the happy memory. Blaine did too.

"Does your uncle really have that many ferrets?" Blaine laughed.

"He has like ten and they are all named after his favourite book characters."

"What a life your uncle must lead."

"Well, he's happy so that's all that matters."

Kurt looked out over the hills. "I've told you about coming out to my dad. It was pretty scary too even though I know how much he loves me." Blaine squeezed his hand tighter.

"So coming out as a vampire must have been a piece of cake."

Kurt scoffed. "Well, that happened when I was eight. That vampire killed my mother and ended up turning me. Dad figured it out and has been helping me keep my secret ever since. It was horrible. I had to keep coming up with excuses to not go to the doctor and school physicals were a nightmare."

Blaine hadn't thought about that. Kurt must have had to overcome so much and alone most of the time.

"How did you get out of them?"

"My dad told the school I had some sort of religious exemption." Kurt smiled fondly thinking about his dad. "He's really great. He did everything to keep me safe. The whole time I was freaking out and having panic attacks about what I was, he was making plans and dodging questions and appointments. He handled everything so well. I am really glad he was there. He's never treated me as anything other than his son."

"I'm glad too."

Kurt smiled at Blaine and gripped his hand tighter, then looked around self-consciously.

"You think Jeff can see us right now?"

Blaine shrugged. "Probably, but he's more than likely not paying attention--" Blaine was cut off by Kurt kissing him. Blaine was caught off guard, but recovered quickly and deepened the kiss. When they pulled away Kurt smiled at Blaine.

"I really like kissing you." That made Blaine smile too.

"Me too."

"Dad, I know it would be a good idea but-"

"There's no 'buts' son, you're going."

Kurt sighed. "But it's going to be weird and I have tons of homework."

"Those are excuses."

Kurt grunted. "Fine, I'll go. But if my grades drop, I blame you."

Burt laughed on the other end of the line. "You don't sleep. You can do your homework tonight."

"There must be something in the parenting handbook about telling your son to stay up late and do his homework."

"You don't get a handbook on vampires, son."

Kurt thought a minute. "I bet Elliott has one."

Burt laughed. "Go tonight. Let me know what they say. Am I happy with how invasive they are? Of course not, but I don't want you to be alone anymore." Kurt felt like a baseball was lodged in his throat. "You need to be around people who are like you."

"Okay, Dad." After exchanging goodbyes, Kurt hung up and exited his room. He headed towards the empty classroom he and Blaine arranged to meet in. They had been sneakily meeting anywhere they could find where Wes and David wouldn't be lurking.

He snuck into the doorway of the classroom and looked around, making sure it was empty. He walked in and set his bag on a desk. Just as he pulled his phone out to text Blaine he was there, he heard footsteps in the doorway. He turned just in time to see Blaine behind him and then he swept Kurt into a kiss. Kurt laughed into it.

"I missed you!" Blaine said between kisses.

Kurt pulled away to look at Blaine. "I missed you too." Blaine smiled as they put their foreheads together.

"Maybe we can go to the movies and stay in the back. I'll make Jeff and Nick stay out in the lobby."

Kurt rolled his eyes at his boyfriend. "In your dreams, Casanova. I have a coven meeting tonight." Blaine stuck out his bottom lip and pouted. "Don't pout. You were the one to tell me to go."

Blaine shrugged. "Yeah, but on a night I didn't want to cuddle and make out."

Kurt laughed. "That's every night though."

Blaine accepted that as fact. "Fine. I have to talk to my father tonight anyway. But I insist you text me goodnight when you get back."

"I always text you good night."

Blaine blushed. "I know. It's my second favourite text. My favourite being good morning of course."

"Of course," Kurt agreed. They shared a few more kisses before Kurt said he had to leave for his meeting. Blaine groaned and let his head fall back dramatically.

"Just be careful. Vampires can be shady."

Kurt mocked offence at that. "I'm a vampire."

"I said they can be shady. You're not shady." He said lovingly. Kurt rolled his eyes and Blaine shrugged. "I can't help I was raised with a deep mistrust of vampires."

"Then why were you just making out with one?" Blaine wrapped his arms around Kurt's waist.

"'Cause I'm a rebel."

Kurt snorted and Blaine narrowed his eyes at him. He sighed. "Look, I'm relearning it. I've been conditioned all my life and I'm trying to change my thought process."

Kurt smiled and kissed Blaine again, before he reluctantly pulled away and bit his lip.

"I'll text you later." Kurt swayed out the door knowing Blaine's eyes were trained on him.

"Welcome! Welcome! Everyone take a seat! We have locally sourced blood and cookies on that table over there!"

Elliott's cheerful voice filled the little community room. Kurt took a seat next to a girl with pink streaks in her hair and a middle aged man that looked like he sold bibles.

Elliott waited until everyone was comfortably sat down. "Now, let's get this meeting started! Hi! I'm Elliott Gilbert, your lead for this meeting! I want to begin by going around the circle and everyone saying your name, favourite thing about being a vampire, and your favourite blood type."

He sat down and motioned for the man to his right to start.

"My name's Jordan and call me weird, but I really like drinking blood. My favorite type is probably A, but a good O- wouldn't be bad."

Everyone looked just as uncomfortable as Kurt felt. The others went around the circle until it was Pink Hair's turn.

"Hi, I'm Layla and I guess I like the fact that I can get a lip piercing anytime I want without spending any money due to my fangs." Everyone giggled at that, including Kurt. He had a similar thought before and it relaxed him somewhat to know others felt the same as him.

Layla grinned and continued. "Just kidding. But seriously, it is nice to be able to hear and see better than most people. The guys on my archery team get so jealous that I can hit the target more than them and some even ask what my secret is. I tell them to eat their carrots and don't be dicks." More laughter. "I don't have a favorite blood type, but I do prefer drinking from big muscular guys. It makes me feel powerful."

"Okay. Um, thank you Layla." Elliott turned to Kurt.

Everyone looked over at him expectantly and he swallowed nervously. Kurt waved.

"I'm Kurt, I… guess I like the fact I don't really need sleep. It helps with studying." He laughed awkwardly until he realized no one else was and went on. "I don't really have a type I like. Never had human blood."

There was a joint gasp from the others and everyone looked at him.

"It's fine. I will be rectifying that soon." Elliott said. "The blood bar will be eye opening." He nodded at Kurt encouragingly as Kurt sat back down.

After the man beside him went, Elliott started the meeting.

"Now, the main thing we want you all to take from this meeting is, one, people are not just walking meals, but important members of life and society. Remember that's someone child, parent, grandparent etcetera." He glanced at Layla pointedly who shrugged. "But also, we want you to understand that no matter what, you're not alone. You always have a support system here. We are here for you."

Kurt felt for the first time what Blaine was meaning. The kinship of people who get it. Elliott may be that really over enthusiastic camp counselor nobody wanted, but he was there. He made Kurt feel like maybe he wasn't alone. That made Kurt feel just the tiniest bit better about the vampire thing.

Blaine sat on the leather chair messing with his phone while his father finished up his phone call. Once he hung up, he wrote some stuff down.

"How's school going?" He didn't look up from his notepad.

"It's good."

His dad finally stacked all his papers and pushed them aside. He folded his hands together on the desk in front of him and looked over at his youngest son. Blaine felt kind of small in that moment, almost like he was business that had to be dealt with. He knew his dad loved him, though. He just had a hard time showing it.

"You said you wanted to talk to me about something important?"

Blaine put his phone away and nervously gave his dad eye contact.

"Yeah, I wanted to ask you a question. It's about all these business meetings. The ones with potential partners."

His dad lit up. "You found someone?"

Blaine blanched a little. "No, I was actually wanting to ask about dating someone who's not a werewolf…"

His dad eyed him with his cool blue eyes appraisingly before raising his eyebrow and shrugging. "I don't mind if they aren't. As long as they are a good match for helping you lead the pack and he brings something to the table. Can't have the alpha's mate being a nobody, but I'm sure at somewhere like Dalton you have managed to find a good political ally or someone influential."

"What if they were, I don't know, like a… vampire?"

His dad's face instantly darkened and a scowl twisted his face. Blaine felt like a cockroach his dad was about to step on.

"Blaine Devon! I hope this is some kind of joke!"

Blaine flinched. "Would it be that bad? Sure, some vampires are violent, but not all of them are like that."

His father rubbed his temples. He used to do that a lot when he talked to Cooper or when his mother would suggest a new DIY project on the house. This wasn't good.

"Vampires cannot be trusted. They play with emotions and prey on innocent lives. Dating a vampire or association of any kind is forbidden!"

"But I thought we were supposed to be more accepting of vampires? I was doing some research online--"

"It's forbidden for you." Paul's face was going red and he looked as if he would explode.

Blaine nodded. He would not cry.

"Of course." He tried to act as casual as he could.

"Blaine Devon Anderson, are you dating a vampire?"

Blaine shook his head no.

His dad looked as though he did not believe him.

"It was a purely hypothetical question," Blaine said weakly.

It was silent. Blaine shifted in his chair, wishing for probably the millionth time his mom was still here to help him.

"You have a big responsibility to the pack and to yourself. You have to make a wise decision here. I want it to be your choice, son... but maybe I should arrange something--"

"No!" Blaine blinked back the tears. He wouldn't cry. "No, I don't need... Please, just give me more time. I will figure it out." Blaine's throat ached as he swallowed back the emotion threatening to spill over. He took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. "I promise to make a good choice. I just need more time."

Paul sat back in his chair and stroked his bottom lip with a finger. He watched his son carefully, giving away nothing.

Blaine tried to shore up his own poker face and regain his self-control.

He thought of how this conversation was supposed to go. He was supposed to be brave and stand up to his father. He was supposed to argue and stand up for his relationship and for Kurt and not let his dad bully him into doing what he thought he should do instead of what he wanted for once.

But of course he cowered and gave in once again.

"Blaine." Paul's voice was softer now. It did nothing to calm him down. "I want you to tell me the truth. Are you spending time with a vampire?"

He wouldn't cry.

"Blaine!" His father warned.

"It's Nick. He's dating a vampire." Blaine had vomited out the words before he could stop them. He didn't feel too bad making it up though because Nick was single.

His father looked confused, but then shook his head.

"I'll deal with that later, but let me make it clear: vampires have no place among werewolves."

Blaine nodded. "Message received. Loud and clear." Blaine gave him his best smile. His dad looked wary. "I'm going then." Blaine kept smiling while he walked backwards out of the room.

Only once he was in the car on the way back to Dalton did he finally let the tears fall. Concerned, Jeff and Nick asked what was wrong, but he shook his head no. He didn't want anyone to know what a coward he was.

Paul was not convinced at all his son was being truthful. The boy was like an open book.

Yes, he knew he was hard on him, but the pressure wouldn't ease when he took over the pack. It would only get worse.

If the vampires were making a move to infiltrate, they picked the best target in the world. Blaine was too much like his mother sometimes. Too kind and too open to be hurt.

Paul glanced at her smiling face from the picture on his desk, forever frozen in time. It didn't do her justice.

"I'm trying, Pam. I'm trying to protect him."

He sighed a long-suffering sigh before picking up his phone. It rang only once before the other line picked up.

"Yes, it's me. I need you to go to Dalton." There was a pause as the other person spoke. "Yes, I'm worried about Blaine and need you to check on it. I think we have a vampire problem."
