Kurt watched a mailman deposit some envelopes into a box and then drive away. He was parked by the curb outside the Karofsky residence on a bright Sunday morning, trying to will himself inside. The thought hadn't left him in peace ever since it first occurred to him last week in the car with Blaine and the others. He needed to do this.

"I just don't think it's a good idea," his dad had told him over the phone when he first mentioned wanting to go talk to him. "It's in the past. Let's just leave it there."

"But Dad," Kurt argued. "What I did was wrong. I need to apologize."

"Kurt, I get it. What you did was wrong, sure." Kurt could hear the stress in his dad's voice. "But he's not innocent! He was harassing you. If the school had done something about it, it wouldn't have happened."

Kurt took a deep breath. "Dad, we don't know what he was going through. I shouldn't have hurt him either. I need to apologize for my part."

"Then I'm coming with you," Burt replied, defeated.

"Dad—"

"Don't, Kurt. I've been giving you more freedom and look where it got us. I'm coming with you, end of discussion."

Now he sat in the passenger seat, arms crossed as he glared at the house. Kurt took a deep breath and clicked open his seat belt.

"You're sure about this?" Burt asked, breaking their stony silence. "It's not too late to go home."

Kurt looked over at his dad and gave him a small smile. "I'm sure. I'm trying to be the man you've raised me to be. I need to do this for me as much as it's just the right thing to do. I've been carrying this guilt around for so long."

Burt gave him a smile back at that and clicked off his own seatbelt. "Fine. Let's get this over with."

Mrs. Karofsky didn't want to let them in. She didn't scream in their faces or slam the door, but she glared daggers at them. She said her husband was out, but she would call the police if needed. Kurt explained he wanted to apologize and she reluctantly let them in.

"Wait here," she jabbed a finger at a den filled with old comfortable-looking furniture and pictures of the family. "I'll go get Dave. No promises that he will see you." She stomped up the stairs and the Hummel men were left in silence. They shared a look and after a few minutes, the stairs squeaked as two people descended.

Dave Karofsky's face and arm had healed for the most part, but he still wore a sling and his black eye had faded to a pale yellow, almost completely gone. The swelling had gone down, leaving behind a few red scratches that would possibly scar. Guilt turned Kurt's stomach, ruining the satisfied feeling he had gotten from visiting the blood bar earlier that week. The scowl on his face wasn't too promising either. Kurt sat up straight.

"Hi. Um, can we talk?"

"Since you ambushed me in my own house, I guess we can," Karofsky sneered and eased down into an armchair that had a few bald spots. "I have to leave in a little while though. Physical therapy to deal with the last time we talked."

Kurt flinched at his tone and licked dry lips. "Look, I just wanted to apologize—"

"I'll save you the time. I don't forgive you and I want you to stay the hell away from me. You're a freak."

His mother, who was standing by the chair with her arms crossed, made a noise of agreement.

"You aren't exactly blameless here, kid," Burt spat. "You've been giving Kurt hell for a long time and you're just lucky that I wasn't—"

Kurt put a hand on his dad's arm when he moved to stand. He leaned back reluctantly, his posture stiff. "You don't have to forgive me, of course. That's your decision. I just wanted to come here to say today that no matter what you did to me, I shouldn't have hurt you that way. And I'm sorry."

Panic flickered over Karofsky's face momentarily before his eyes hardened again. He didn't have to worry. Kurt would never out him.

"Apology is not accepted. Now why don't you go back to your faggy school and leave me the hell alone."

Kurt nodded, resigned and stood.

"There's no need for that kind of language!" His father had also stood and was shaking with anger beside him. Kurt just wanted to get him out of there before he stressed his heart too much.

"That's fine. I understand. I won't bother you again. That's all I wanted to say."

Dave and his mother shared a disgruntled look and the Hummel men made to leave. Kurt stopped at the last second. He moved towards Dave and the boy shrunk back in his seat, his eyes wide in terror. Kurt froze, not wanting to scare the other teen any more than he had. He held up his hands, palms facing Karofsky.

"I sincerely hope you get help, Dave. You don't have to do this all alone."

Mrs. Karofsky looked confused, but Dave caught his hint and narrowed his eyes at Kurt.

"I have no idea what you're taking about. Now please leave before I call the cops."

Back in the car, the cheerful day continued on around Burt and Kurt. A little girl and her father played catch in a yard next door. A dog barked. A few cars drove by.

They sat, still parked by the curb until Burt cleared his throat.

"You know what he said was wrong, right kiddo?"

Kurt nodded slowly and inhaled a deep breath before releasing it slowly. "I know. He's got his own problems to deal with, but me? I feel better. I've been holding onto such guilt that I didn't realize it was crushing me." He smiled a little as he stared down the street at a stop sign. "I still feel bad about hurting him and I wish it could have gone better, but I'm satisfied for now." He finally tuned to Burt and his smile grew. "Thanks for coming with me."

Burt grunted and reached over to Kurt's shoulder, squeezing a little. "I'll always be there for you, son. I'm proud of what you did today. Now let's get out of here."

Kurt started the car.

"So, he wanted to know if we have ever had sex?"

Kurt flushed an impressive crimson at his boyfriend's blatant words. They were ambling down the path, the very same one that Kurt had taken Blaine down what felt like ages ago to confess his feelings. This time, they were holding hands and Kurt was relaying what had happened earlier that day with the Karofskys. Now they had gotten to the uncomfortable conversation his dad insisted upon after they drove away.

"I guess that's what he was asking," Kurt hedged. "He wanted to know about us and our relationship."

Blaine raised a triangular eyebrow at Kurt and grinned. "He wanted to know if you knew how to use a condom, Kurt. I think it's safe to assume you have the sex talk in your future."

Kurt groaned and scrubbed at his face. "I don't want to think about that."

"You don't want to think about a sex talk or about sex with me?" Blaine gave his boyfriend a toothy smile and tried not to laugh at how uncomfortable Kurt had gotten.

"I'm not ready for either of those conversations, Blaine."

Blaine decided to take pity on Kurt and wrapped an arm around his shoulders. "I'm joking. We need to take things at a pace we are both comfortable with. I'm content with how things are now. Are you?"

Kurt scanned the area and thankfully only found Nick and Jeff following at a distance to witness his embarrassment. "I'm comfortable. Not ready for… that stuff quite yet. I like the making out..."

Blaine winked at him and lifted his cold hand to kiss the back. "Well, that's what masturbation is for."

A kind of a whine escaped Kurt's throat and he pulled at his collar. Blaine threw his head back and laughed as he tugged Kurt on.

In an effort to steer the conversation away from sex, Kurt forged on about his talk with his dad. "Anyway, so then Dad asked me if you were still pressuring me about marriage—"

"Which I'm not!"

"Which you are not and I told him he didn't have to worry. We are waaay too young to worry about that."

Blaine nodded along, still smiling, but inside he was telling himself that one day they wouldn't be too young and he would be asking Kurt to marry him. He knew everyone from their dads to their respective people hated that they were together, but he wasn't letting go ever. Best to keep all this to himself for now.

"—and we have college to think about and I don't know about you, but I still plan on getting into NYADA." Kurt was saying. "Elliott told me he knew about a great blood bar nearby campus—"

"So you definitely are set on New York then?"

Kurt turned to him, jaw set and eyes flashing in determination. "Definitely." His face softened as he noticed how quiet Blaine was. "You are definitely set on being alpha?"

"Absolutely." He nodded slowly and they walked in silence for a while.

"I'm fine with that, of course." Kurt watched their feet. "It's what you're meant to be. I'm still figuring out my own plans myself. I guess being alpha means you stay here?"

Blaine nodded and smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "We still have some time to figure things out, like you said. We will figure it out together."

Leaning over, Kurt gently kissed Blaine's lips. They lingered there together for a few blissful moments, just relaxing in the feeling of each other's lips before a throat was cleared next to them. They pulled apart and tried to sort themselves out after getting lost for a while.

Wes and David were standing off to the side of the path, David with a wide grin watching them kiss and Wes with a slightly aloof frown. However, the upturned corner of his lip gave him away.

"Glad I found you both," Wes jumped right in. He snapped and David immediately plopped a tablet into his hands. Wes began scanning the screen and flicking through pages. "We have a pretty full schedule for you both these next few days. Blaine, you are meeting with the alphas from abroad and you have that press conference with your dad. Kurt, you have a consultation with the family photographer and we need to set up your courting photos. Then this weekend you both have the charity dinner to attend—"

"Okay, who died and made you my boss?" Kurt asked with hands on his cocked out hips.

Wes rolled his eyes playfully. "Ugh. Vampires are so difficult. Blaine, this is part of why you should have picked one of my more agreeable options!"

"Yeah, I don't take criticism from someone who had fleas."

Wes gasped and stumbled back as if Kurt had punched him. David caught his arms and helped him back to his feet. "Who TOLD???"

Jeff and Nick came jogging up and assessed the situation.

"Did Wes finally have a stress induced heart attack?" Jeff asked.

Nick snickered beside him. "Nah, he's too stubborn to have a heart attack." He slung an arm around Jeff's shoulders and accepted a kiss from the blond.

Blaine saw the kiss and his eyes nearly popped out of his head. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! When did this—" he gestured spastically between the two of them, "happen?"

Jeff tilted his head in confusion and Nick raised an eyebrow. "Dude. What are you talking about?"

"You kissed him!"

"Yeah… We did?" Jeff looked at the others helplessly. "Because he's my boyfriend?"

Blaine gaped like a fish out of water. "What? Since when?"

"You're joking," Jeff said.

Blaine shook his head vigorously.

"It's been well over a year," Jeff was laughing so hard he could barely breathe at this point. "Why do you think we are always together and all over each other?"

Blaine threw his hands up and stared at them in bewilderment. "I don't know! I just thought you were really close friends!"

Now David and Nick were laughing too and Wes and Kurt had smiles of pity on their faces.

"You were just too busy thirsting after Kurt to notice anyone else," Nick chuckled. Jeff was holding onto him for support. "And you're going to be alpha? We're doomed."

This made Jeff howl with more laughter and Blaine sputtered indignantly.

"Yeah, sweetie," Kurt said as if he was explaining a hard truth to a child. "Even I knew they were together. I gave them a gift card for their anniversary."

"Because he has class," Jeff giggled as he wiped tears from his eyes.

"Honestly, I just didn't want the gift card."

Jeff wheeled on Blaine who was staring at his boyfriend like he didn't know him. "What have you given me Blaine? Nothing but grief!"

"Wow. I gave you bath stuff for Christmas and that video game for your birthday, you ungrateful jerk!" Blaine rubbed his forehead. "What's next, Wes and David are dating?"

David stepped forward shyly. "Aw really? We thought you knew…" He gave Wes a goofy little smile and Blaine's mouth was moving, but no words came out.

Suddenly everyone burst into laughter. "Just kidding," David said as he poked Blaine's side. "We are straight, you idiot. But you should have seen your face!"

"I have a girlfriend," Wes sniffed as he began flicking through the tablet again.

"We both have girlfriends," David said with a wide grin.

"What? Congrats man!" Jeff said as he smacked David's back.

"Yeah, didn't think you had any attraction to anything but statistics and data charts," Nick chortled as he slipped David's tablet from him.

"Hey! Give that back! You guys are assholes!" He glared back at Jeff and Nick before chasing them. Wes sighed tiredly and followed behind.

"We will see you at inside," Wes said, looking at them over his glasses. Don't forget about that dinner!"

Kurt shook his head at them and wrapped an arm around Blaine.

"They make me tired."

"I can't believe you didn't tell me about Nick and Jeff!" Blaine grumbled as they followed the others. Jeff and Nick were playing keep-away over David's head with his tablet and Wes was walking ahead of them, trying to generally ignore the horseplay.

"It's not my fault you didn't know!" Kurt giggled. "I had no idea you were that oblivious."

Blaine sniffed and looked away. "Whatever. I think you all have been playing a joke on me."

"I swear we haven't," Kurt smacked a kiss to his cheek. "I guess you have been too obsessed with me to notice anything else." He pretended to flip his hair.

Blaine side eyed him, but a smile was breaking through. "Mhm."

"I love you."

"I love you too. Even if you're mean to me."

Kurt joined their hands once again and made his way towards Dalton with Blaine. He had no idea what the future would throw at them, but he knew they would face it together.
