Chapter 4-recovery
He tried to unhook the chains tied to his hands. It was no use. After a few minutes, he sighed. But he couldn't give up. And the chains hurt his wrists. Ryder took his lower body and connected it to his hands. He tried using his feet to get the chains untapped.
Ryder then tried again. Then he succeeded. The boy jumped off and onto the bloody grey floor. He limped to a cabinet he opened it and grabbed his iPhone and texted Marshall to get his ambulance.
"Guys!" Marshall's voice rang out from their pup tags. "Go ahead, Marshall," Chase said.
"Ryder texted me!" The Dalmatian said. Reading the text message off the screen in his truck.
The other pups gasped. "Ryder texted?!" Rocky asked.
"Yea! He said that he's in an abandoned warehouse. The address is NW 84th street, Adventure City. We need to hurry! I'll go back to HQ to get my ambulance and my EMT gear!" He said, turning back and getting his stuff.
Chase turned on his sirens and typed the coordinates to the address. They knew where he was going and they all followed him.
Pull the ground from out under me
If you wanna see me fly
Where I'm from, you learn to walk rockin' ankle weights
The dirt road for us ran about his ankle brace
Was gettin' chased down the block for a bunch of reasons
If you was learnin' how to fly, then it was huntin' season
And if you learnin' how to try, then it was try and cheat them
Marshall blared his sirens as the ambulance raced down the streets of Adventure City.
My mama seen it, said, "Boy, you better" (and I'm gonna take this shot)
You ain't gotta knock 'em out before you gotta beat them (risk it all against the fall)
You better look at every shot like it's your shot at freedom
The other members of the PAW Patrol were way ahead of him. Cars moved out of the way as the ambulance came through.
Now fast forward, the kid is the king
Championship so big the box fit in the ring
They make 'em fantasize match ups who could in his prime
I could shoot from the logo with my foot on the line
That mean my shoes too big to fill
Future on free bands, my presence on the court like my past keep replaying
My wingspan longer than the message at the bottom of CSPAN
Just a kid who played Heat fans and Cleveland for real
People saw the large red 03 on the side and knew who it was. People took pictures, videos. And even posted it to their social media accounts. Some were even screaming his name.
Pull the ground from out under me
If you wanna see me fly
Look at the sky up where the clouds at
The air up here is so clear, we clearly on top
From out under me
If you wanna see me fly
We built this thing from where the ground's at
It's our time to take flight, we're cleared for take off
From out under me
If you wanna see me fly
Marshall raced down the streets as he caught up with his teammates.
"Nice of you to show up." Liberty teased. He smirked. "Girl I'd be here faster If I didn't have two vehicles now." He smirked.
"Alright, guys. We're pulling up now. Everyone get ready!" Chase orders. He backed up so Rubble could get through with his wrecking ball then he swung it on the building the impact made a hole in the wall.
"Go go go!" Chase orders as they go inside the warehouse and tried to find their leader. Marshall was on standby.
The PAW Patrol were inside the building.
"Arf. Flashlight!" Chase said as his flashlight came out of his pup pack and turned on. "Guys I hear something!"
Rocky said as his teammates ran up to the source. It was a door. Chase walked over to it.
Ryder was still trying to break down the door. "Okay... one more time..." he said, his throat still hurting, he then broke it down. The door finally fell off its hinges. Ryder gasped and saw his team standing there.
The team looks at him in shock as they see him. Chase examined him. He had cuts littering his entire body. Also, it was down to his legs. He had a black eye. His nose had some dried blood. He looked thinner than usual. Also, He wasn't talking. How weird...
"Ryder!" Chase jumped on him and licked his owner. Ryder could only smile. Then coughed a little bit. Chase was worried for his leader. He didn't expect this. Skye tapped on her pup tag.
"Marshall. We have Ryder. He looks pretty bad." Skye said.
Ryder just limped outside. His jacket, t-shirt, jeans, and Nike boots are in his hands. Ryder walked to the back of Marshall's ambulance and sat inside. Various medical equipment was inside. Along with a stretcher and chairs.
"Ryder. You have your seatbelt on?" The dally asked. Ryder put a thumbs up then they drove back home.
Marshall killed the engine then he hopped out. Then went to the back and opened the doors. Ryder took off his seatbelt and walked out. Ryder limped up the stairs and into the main room.
The other pups saw him enter. Everyone saw the scars. Even the ones on his back and his calves. Marshall noticed that he had a bad cough throughout the drive; he could hear it from the front seat.
"Ryder..." That was all Marshall could say as he saw the damage that Mayor Humdinger and his goons did to him in a week Marshall didn't have this much knowledge about this. He thinks some of the wounds needed stitches. If they were deep enough.
Marshall knew that his broken ribs would heal in a few weeks but... Until then, they'll be without a leader for the time being. Chase was second in command.
"Ryder?" Skye asked. "Are you hungry?" The boy nodded and sat at the small glass table they had. Next to the kitchen, They went to find something to eat for him.
They came back, Chase held a box of sushi in his mouth as he walked next to him, he picked up the box of sushi. The box was half-eaten. It was spicy tuna and avocado. With one cup of soy sauce and one spicy mayo. He opened it and ate it.
"Is it good?" Rocky asked. Ryder nodded and put a thumbs up. "After you're done. You should probably take a shower before I can check on you. Okay?" Marshall asked his leader.
Ryder nodded as he finished his lunch. Liberty looked at the window leading to outside. The sun was shining as a few clouds rolled in. Liberty smiled. She loved it here,
And being in the PAW Patrol was awesome! She looked down at her collar. Sheeeesh! It was so cool!
Marshall finished checking on Ryder. A few minutes ago. "Okay... The good thing is you don't have anything else. Except for your ribs but those will heal on their own. You'll have to take it easy for a few weeks." He said. Ryder just nodded his head. He walked upstairs and limped to his room. Marshall felt bad.
Maybe he can go to the DRUGstore pharmacy Tomorrow to pick up some medicine for Ryder. But for now. He needs to rest.
"Okay, Ryder. You need to get some rest in your room." Marshall ordered his leader. Ryder nodded and walked to his room.
He opened the black door Which had four silver lines going across it. He gripped the handle then opened it. He walked inside the room. The flooring inside was different from their headquarters.
The floors were white. He had a cream-colored desk sitting on the corner with a space gray MacBook Pro from this year sitting on it.
Another door sat in the side for his bathroom. A large white cushioned bed was pressed against a wall and the same T.V that he built for the briefing room. He went to his closet. Grabbed a Toronto Raptors jersey and red pajama pants. Then he went to a door and opened it.
The bathroom had a modern design like the rear of their headquarters. A squared toilet sat across from it. A shower with a large circle heads on the ceiling so it's a rain shower.
There was one sink and a large table.
The other side next to it was all his everyday stuff. His hair gel. AXE body spray. Cologne. Deodorant even hair gel for his hair to make it spiky in the morning. He also has a flat iron for his hair to make it straight. He grabbed his toothbrush and brushed his teeth.
After he was done. He went out of the bathroom, grabbed the cord to charge his iPhone. The battery icon flashes yellow on the broken screen. He still had to get his screen fixed since Mayor Humdinger broke his phone. He'll probably have to go to Rogers Communications to repair his screen. Or, he can take it to Rocky and he can fix it. Or he can fix it himself. He would have to order the glass off Amazon.
He yawned as he pulled the red covers back and went into bed. He rolled over and fell asleep. The view of Adventure City just outside his large window.
