...know what? Fuck it...fuck it all...Imma do it. I've played the game more than enough times over and over again to do this right. Pokemon Heart Fucking Gold cuz why the fuck not?
Chapter 1
Getting started
Jaden P.O.V
I jumped out of bed. God what a weird dream about Professor Oak. He was explaining the world of pokemon to me. Like I already don't know.
I quickly ignored my plain light blue room, why the hell did my mom choose light blue in the first place? I'd prefer something more like red, green, or even black no matter how many emo comments Lyra, my childhood friend, would drop.
It was an awful choice to let mom handle the decorations of my new room while I was out camping with Lyra and her family, but not much I can do about it now.
I glanced at my computer by the stairs. Speaking of Lyra, she might have sent me a message. I walked up to the PC and turned it on, quickly opening my messages.
Adventure!
Exited!
I love POKEMON!
At the bottom was her name with a small Marill stamp.
I chuckled. Seemed like Lyra alright.
I stood up and got dressed in a black undershirt with a red jacket with a white bottom, this time opting for my black pants instead of my shorts before glancing at myself in the mirror as I put on my hat that was colored like an ultra ball. It was a gift from Lyra and I don't have any other hats ok?!
I sighed taking in my dark skin, almost black eyes, and lanky frame. I felt odd with the hat on so I placed the bill of the hat in the back.
I headed down the stairs to be immediately bombarded by my mother.
"Hey, honey did you sleep alright? How are you? Are you hungry? Lyra was just here you know, playing Hide and Seek with her adorable Marill. Professor Elm wanted to see you for a favor" She asked as she unzipped my jacket down a little to 'make sure I can breathe'.
Professor Elm is a pokemon professor(well duh) that lives nearby. An expert in the evolution of pokemon.
"Yes, decent, and not really," I said after a few moments of digesting what she asked me. "Lyra is always playing with her Marill and Professor had told me he wanted to see me the other day"
"Ok that's good dear, maybe you should head over to Professor Elm now so you can handle whatever he needed you to do," My mom said as she passed me a bagel covered in cream cheese. I gratefully took both slices.
"And before you go dear-" She said as I had one foot out the door. I glanced back with a slice of bagel hanging from my mouth, barely catching the bag she threw me. "Bring that with you in case you need any extra storage space and I packed a few things in there for you already" I glanced into the open bag and found the journal she keeps trying to make me use, a piece of paper that stated how I want things to go with any and all interactions between me and other people and my Trainer ID card.
I gave my mom a wave after slinging my backpack over my shoulder and heading out of the house.
Soon after stepping out of my house, a small blue creature ran up to me and made some small happy noises. It was short, barely up to my knees, and sphere-like. It had a white belly, two semi-circle ears on the top of its head with pink insides with its blue on the outside, and a black crumpled wire-like tail with another blue ball at the end.
Marill. As far as I know, no Marill live near here and the only person with a Marill in these parts was-
The Marill made another noise at me, eyeing my bagel so I gave it half, making it jump happily. It made some small chittering noise, jumped up to give me a high five, and ran off to my right as a breeze rolled in.
Lyra had walked into view.
I caught my breath a little. Lyra was looking as amazing as ever. She had that white and red hat on, her brown hair done up into its usual ponytails that stuck up a little, a red long sleeve under a pair of overalls that stopped mid-thigh, and her red shoes matched with some long socks that stopped a bit over her knees.
Maybe I had a crush on her. It's not that important.
"Hey, Jaden!" She called over to me as she walked over. "I see you found Marill"
"Yeah, I guess I did," I said with a chuckle and held up my other bagel slice. "Top-notch Marill bait here"
She giggled. "I'll keep that in mind. Anyway, I came over earlier to see if you wanted to play with Marill and me, but your sleepy self didn't wake up in time"
I grinned. "That's me alright, a Snorlax. Big and beasty but I sleep a lot. So did the Professor say what he wanted from me, or is he keeping it a secret?"
"Wellllll, I know what he wants you to do but it's a surprise," Lyra said with a sly grin. "You'll have to go find out for yourself"
"Fine, keep your secrets" I muttered as I leaned down to pat Marill on the head. "Take care of my girl while I'm away alright?"
Marill chirped happily while Lyra blushed, but didn't correct me. "Yeah whatever, hurry over for the surprise"
I stood up and gave a mock salute. "Yes ma'am"
She giggled again and head off on her own again, likely for another round of Hide and seek.
I headed over to the large laboratory that housed the professor. Inside it was large, the biggest building in our small town, there were a few shelves filled to the brim with books(most likely on pokemon research), a computer I could barely see in the back along with a large machine I could see that had a large Pokeball ontop.
One of the aids of the professor was reading a book near the entrance gave me a wave. I waved back and headed towards the back.
Professor Elm was a tall but very thin man. You'll commonly find him wearing a light blue dress shirt, green slacks, and a perfectly fitted lab coat. That paired with his glasses made him look very much like a professor.
Now I could see the machine more closely, it seemed to be meant for storing Pokeballs, due to the fact three of them were nicely nestled in it. That's a first. I don't think I've seen that machine filled with anything for a while.
Now I could see that Professor must have been working for a while, his clothes were wrinkled, he didn't notice me coming closer as he was absorbed in whatever he was writing on his notepad, and had a bunch of papers stuffed in his coat.
"Hey, you wanted to see me?" I spoke up after clearing my throat.
Professor Elm let out a yelp as he jumped in surprise, and straightened himself up once he realized it was just me. He adjusted his glasses. "Oh Jaden, it's just you. Please don't scare me like that. Anyway, yes I was looking for you"
I nodded. "Sorry about making you wait and all that. What did you need me for?"
"Well," Professor Elm began. "You do recall what my research is about, correct?"
"Pokemon evolution" I replied without missing a beat.
"Right, and as you are well aware, pokemon are carried in Pokeballs nowadays" He continued
I nodded. "Because it's easier and safer"
"But, before they were created, people used to walk with their pokemon" Elm continued
"Like Lyra does" I added on to get a nod.
"Exactly" Professor fixed a smile don't me. "Pokeballs are great because they let you carry several pokemon but walking with them likely has its own advantages"
"Where are you going with this professor?" I asked, now confused.
"My latest theory is that it has some kind of effect on how a pokemon grows or evolves" He was full-out grinning now. "So that's why, I'm giving you, and I mean you Jaden, a Pokemon!"
My jaw dropped. "Am I dreaming? Or is this a prank of some kind?"
I once offhandedly mentioned that I wanted a pokemon while I was helping out with the lab. But what person doesn't want a pokemon?
"I'm 100% serious my boy!" Professor Elm exclaimed, his glee now starting to rub off on me. "I want you to walk outside with this pokemon to see if it brings about any special feelings or bonds between the two of you. Can you do that?"
"Can a Pidgey fly?" I asked rhetorically. "You bet I can!"
I could feel a large smile splitting my face.
"Well, that's the spirit!" Professor Elm chuckled. He walked over to the large pokemon case. He opened it and opened each of the three Pokeballs inside it.
First out came a small green creature, it had some sharp features and a large leaf sticking from the top of its head. Next came out a small mole/mouse-like creature, its top half was a dark blue, and its the bottom half was a dark cream color. Along its back were four red spots. Next was a small light blue crocodile that stood on two legs with a set of sharp teeth and a set of red spikes along its back and tail.
"These are Chikorita, the grass type," Professor Elm said motioning to the first one that came out.
"Cyndaquil the fire type," He said as the red spots on Cyndaquils back lit up, giving it flames along its back.
"And lastly Tododile, the water type" Tododile gave me what I think to be a thumbs up, hard to tell because it only has like three fingers.
I looked between them, but I already knew which one. I have a tendency to notice fire types more than others, but not enough to go around with only fire types. I like steel types too.
"I choose Cyndaquil," I said firmly as the creature jumped up and down in joy of being picked. It jumped onto me and climbed up until it reached my shoulders, seeming content with staying there.
"I thought you would, it's a perfect match after all" Professor Elm said. "You always showed a lot of interest in pokemon like Cyndaquil. Anyway, do you want to name him?"
I looked at the creature on my shoulder. "How about ember?"
It shook its head. I guess even he knew that was basic.
I thought about the fire on its back. "How about Dynamite?"
Its fire roared back to life, thankfully not hitting me, and it gave a cheer. "Alright, your name is Dynamite, I'm Jaden and it looks like we're partners now"
Professor Elm passed me its Pokeball, which I just placed in my bag. I won't be needing that for a while.
A beeping sound came from the Professors computer. An email. He rushed over to it and became absorbed in the message. He finished reading quickly.
"Uh Jaden," He began. "Do you mind if I ask you for another favor?"
"Of course not, what do you need?" I asked as I tried my hardest to not laugh as Dynamite poked at my neck.
"You see, I have this acquaintance that people call Mr. Pokemon. He keeps finding weird things and raving about his discoveries." He explained. "I had just gotten an email from him saying that this time it's legit"
"Sounds interesting" I commented, still trying hard not to laugh as Dynamite started poking his nose into the back of my neck.
"It's probably another Pokemon Egg, but we're still so busy with our research...so can you go in our place?"
I didn't hesitate to respond. "Yeah no problem, I got Dynamite here to keep me safe"
"Thank you so much Jaden" He grabs my hand and gives it a happy shake. "I really do appreciate it. To think you're even using this to bond with your pokemon for my research too"
"Not a problem at all Professor"
"Mr. Pokemon travels everywhere and finds rarities" Elm explained. "His house is just past Cherrygrove City. Only a little north"
"Oh that's not so bad, I'll be back in a minute," I said. "I'll see you guys soon then"
I waved goodbye as I got ready to head out but the aid I waved to when I walked in stopped me while holding a brown paper bag.
"Before you go, I want you to take these," He said as he passed me the bag and I opened it, pulling out a purple and white spray bottle.
Potions
"Those, as I'm sure you know are potions" He explained. "If your pokemon gets hurt on the way, you can use these to heal them back up"
"Thanks a bunch," I said as I put the whole thing into my bookbag.
"Your welcome, Be careful on your way there," He said as he waved me goodbye.
I walked out and found Lyra waiting for me. "So, who'd you pick?"
Dynamite made his presence known to her and she squealed. "Oh my Arceus! He's so cute!"
Dynamite left my side and walked up to Lyra and her Marill, now showing off his flames. I explained what I was asked to do while we watched Marill and Dynamite.
"A fire type huh? I knew you wouldn't be able to help yourself" She teased
"I just think he's neat, his name is Dynamite," I said.
Lyra sighed. "Where is Cameron the Photographer when you need him? You two are so cute together."
"I believe he might be near Golden Rod" I mused
"Whatever, anyway, you should tell your Mom about Dynamite here and before you head out," Lyra said
"Already planning on it," I said.
Lyra leaned down to Dynamite and I got a bad feeling. She patted his head and said. "Keep an eye or two on my boy alright? Can you do that for me cutie?"
"Quil!"
I ignored the heat rushing to my face. "Well, I should get going before it gets dark. Dynamite lets go meet my mom and get going"
I picked up the small pokemon and placed him on my shoulder again. And hurried to my house.
My mom was at the kitchen table drinking some tea.
"I'm back mom"
She turns and a smile lit up on her face when she noticed the small creature on my shoulder.
"Welcome back home honey." She got up and observed Dynamite a little closer. "Well hello there cutie. Is this your pokemon Jaden?"
I place Dynamite at his own seat at the table while I sat across from my mother to explain what the Professor asked me to do.
"My, that sounds difficult task you have ahead of you"
"It'll be fine," I said to reassure her. "Dynamite here will make this a cakewalk"
Dynamite, to exhibit his toughness, lighted his flames once again and puffed out his chest.
"Oh my, it seems Dynamite is more than ready"
"See, Dynamite will beat anything that tries anything shady," I said with a chuckle.
"I suppose your right... Oh, wait!" She jumped from her seat and walked over to a drawer and pulls ut a device. "I almost forgot"
"Your Pokegear came back from the repair shop today" she handed me a device that resembled a phone but was also a tad watch-like. Lyra had one too, as all trainers should. Mine was red, to match my usual outfit and Lyra had a pink one.
I clipped it to my right jacket sleeve. "Thanks, mom"
The Pokegear, or Pokemon Gear, has several different uses that could be used as long as you had the right card. With data cards, you could get things like radios and maps but I only have the call function for now.
"Well I should get going," I said as I got up to hug my mom. I let Dynamite walk this time and we headed out, walking steadily because I'd mess up my shoes which weren't meant for running. Besides, there was plenty of time before it got dark.
As I passes the Professors house, I noticed a red-haired kid standing on the side of the building, peering inside.
I steeled myself and walked over. I was slightly taller than him but he was clearly a little older too. He had long hair for a dude, his red hair stopping at the end of his neck, wearing a black and red jacket with matching shoes and purple jeans.
I heard him muttering to himself. "So this is the famous Elm Pokemon Lab"
"Excuse me," I said, drawing his attention, but he gave me the evil eye. "Is there something you needed?"
He said nothing as he walked over and tried to push me, but I didn't budge. I had long learned to brace myself in case of strong winds from a flying pokemon.
I said nothing as I rammed my fist into the guy's stomach knocking him down and gasping for air.
Dynamite, who had thought to attack the guy for trying to push me back up, was clearly irritated that the guy tried that without saying anything.
The boy gave me a glare from the ground. "I'll ask again. Is. There. Something. You. Needed?"
"I'm good" He spat.
I crouched down to his level. "Ok, was that so hard tough guy? I'll leave you be now. But know I'm keeping my eye on you"
I walked away, letting Dynamite climb onto me again. I almost made it to route 29, which leads to Cherrygrove City.
"That guy was a jerk" I muttered and Dynamite made a noise that sounded like he was agreeing.
"Wait a minute!" I turned and saw Professor Elm running towards me, completely out of breath. "Good thing...I caught you before you...you left"
"Are you okay? Is something wrong?" I asked as I patted the man lightly on the back while I let him regain his breath.
"I wanted to give you my number," He said after straightening up so I unclipped my gear and offered it to him. After he put his number in he spoke again. "If something comes up give me a call. "
He gave my Pokegear back and said. "I already have your number so I'll call you if something comes up as well"
"Of course professor," I said as I placed it back on my sleeve. "Thanks and I'll see you later"
I glanced over my shoulder and the guy was still there, looking into the window, but now clutching his stomach.
I'd hate to deal with that guy again. I thought to myself. If he gets a pokemon himself then we could settle things with a battle. I'd hate to deck him again
