Unknown Location, Valean Wilds
I looked to the man foolishly standing on his weapon, and back to the group of ruffians that were clearly back off. They could've easily begun attacking him, and me while he distracted us all with his needlessly dramatic entrance! Why am I monologuing in my head? OH GOD I'M BECOMING ONE OF THEM! I shook my head to clear my thoughts and mind, took an exasperated breath, and looked back to the dramatic buster sword wielder.
"So, enemy of my enemy?" I gesture to him and back to the group of ruffians as I asked the question.
He looked at me warily, then to the unconscious maiden I was fighting to protect, "You hurt the kid, it'll be more than just those three getting hurt today." He didn't know my allegiance, so an acceptable answer.
"Be wary, I may have neutralized their illusionist, but the boy is fast, their leader is capable of multiple styles of combat. They just have to hold out until they can flee, don't hold back." I warned the Hunter and renewed my attack on the duo, drawing Libra Me in its Sword form and rushing at the Leader.
She dodged my opening blow, a standard left-ward swing, and turned her bow into two blades. She blocked the returning, right-ward swing and tried to stab at me with the un-occupied blade. Meanwhile, The Hunter and the boy were really going at it, but I couldn't gaze away from my fight, lest I become easy prey. The leader was in a worse mood then before the hunter's arrival, I could use that to my advantage. I created an opening with a vortex attack, consuming 7 Heavy Sword Ammo, I used this opening to get a few weaker sword strikes in, she recovers and begins to recover lost ground with a viciously fast counter-attack. I try to dodge and deflect the storm of attacks but lose my grip on Libera Me as it flies out of my hand and lands with its blade planted in the ground.
I am forced to draw both my back-up knife and Malfeasance and try to push her back, but she is already on top of me with her blades by the time I aim Malfeasance. I let loose 3 rounds, one of the slugs strike true and digs into her shoulder. The kinetic energy staggers her for a moment, and gives me the opportunity to gain distance as I retreat towards my gun-sword firing Malfeasance at her. Her surprisingly high agility made it difficult for me to land any slugs but I managed to land the final, fifth slug, with the last round in the chamber. The embedded slugs glow with horrid light and detonate in a corrupted explosion, kicking up a cloud of dust.
I wait a few moments, believing the enemy leader to be dead, when a molten arrow launches from the smoke, and pierces not just my aura, but my right shoulder as well, knocking me to my knees. I bit back a scream as I dropped Malfeasance and brought the knife down on where the arrow stuck out of my shoulder, the arrow shattered where I struck it leaving the arrow-head that poked out of the other side of my shoulder the only thing i could use to pull the rapidly cooling arrow out. I looked back up from the ground to see her looking at the fight between her accomplice and the hunter before grabbing her knocked out comrade and beginning to leave. The boy noticed this and began to flee with them as they disappeared from plain sight, it seems that the illusionist woke up and used the last dregs of her aura to cast her semblance for their escape. I looked over to see the hunter checking on the maiden's status as she began to awaken, it was only then when I recognized that I couldn't feel my right arm except for the burning in my shoulder. I slump over as fatigue and shock begin to set in, and I lose consciousness. But alas, I was not to have a dreamless sleep.
ILLUSORY REALM, UNKNOWN SPACE
My eyes fluttered open to a burning Vale, as Atlesian Airships traded salvos with each other and grimm and machines scoured the streets/ I watched hunters and huntresses fighting against Grimm and Machine and Fang. I watched Ozpin fight and lose against CinderellaAlter after she killed the comatose maiden and stole her power. I watched as the mythical Wyvern of old war-songs descended upon Beacon, an endless horde spawning from its essence. I watched as the Invincible Girl, Pyrrha Nikos, took a molten arrow to the heel, then one to the heart. I watched as a young soul watched in horror, only to awaken ancient powers. I watched the leader of the group I just fought recoil and stagger in pain, as the wyvern turned to stone.
I watched as an heiress was ripped away from her team by an uncaring father, I watched as a fear plagued faunus ran away, I watched as a familiar hunter placed the young soul on a gurney next to her relative who lost their right arm.
My vision turned to the CinderellaAlter… no, i'll call her Cinder, Cinder ripping power out of the maiden with a strange grimm attached to herself, with no sign of me in the area. I watched as Cinder and her followers entered Beacon disguised as Haven students.
I saw flashes, of petals and ice, of flame and shadow. I saw a knight, a spartan, a ninja, and a valkyrie. I saw a Crow and a Raven, staring each other down in visible disgust and hatred. I saw flashes of a Lamp, a Staff, a Crown, and a Sword, each surrounded by divine power. I watched the sword destroy mountains, and the staff create something from nothing. I watched the Lamp give ultimate knowledge, while the Crown showed its wearer one of infinite possibilities.
I witnessed two ancient beings become immortal, one in service of light, the other in service of darkness, both existing and changing throughout the ages. I watched as the four seasons took on human form, and changed into different forms that were all female. I witnessed two impossible beings shatter the moon, and sow the earth with not just humanity, but Grimm as well.
I saw the strings holding onto every being on this planet, Human and Grimm, I watched as their strings slowly began to snap, watched as the world changed without the brother god's hands guiding it.
I watched one scorned by the divine fall into madness and seek vengeance at all cost, watched her fall to grimm corruption… I watched her slay warrior after warrior, Hero after Hero, Hunter aftar hunter. Not even the children of light could stop her… and I saw her strings only tighten around her until she broke… But she could not die, cursed with immortality and cut by her own strings.
Everything around me began to become brighter and brighter as I could hear someone faintly saying something.
"Ea-y o- -im Amb—! He's —-n ou- -or - while!"
And so the first battle has concluded, I hope I appeased my audience. I also hope to be able to gain a more stable upload schedule, as I find writing to be quite therapeutic, something I believe I need right now. So without further ado,
Liberari's interference has paid off, the power of the Fall Maiden is safe for now, but his actions left him with multiple consequences. What will he do when he awakens and learns of the consequences he has acquired? Find out next time on RWBY: Cut the Strings!
