Chapter 24
Tyrone, Matt, Sam, Natalie and the Mothman went towards the exit, leading to the outside world.
"Natalie, you should go through first and we'll see what is binding you." said Sam.
Natalie kissed Sam's cheek and walked outside. But as soon as she did, large green vines appeared from the ground and pulled her inside. And the flower petals she once commanded also pushed her in, flying all around her.
"This is Dark Impulse." said the Mothman.
"Whatever it is, it's keeping my wife here," said Sam.
"Are you sure I'm able to get out?" asked Natalie.
"If we smash the vines, you might get out!" cried Matt excitedly.
Natalie turned to Matt and spoke in perfect Spanish. "Seguro amiguito? Are you sure, little friend?"
Matt blushed and simply said "Si."
Natalie smiled and marched towards the exit. Again, the vines appeared, but this time, the Mothman slashed them away, while Tyrone shot at them with his rifle, shooting only the ones from afar while Matt sprayed Nyquil Medicine at the vines. Sam used his powers to pull the vines away, and miraculously, Natalie was able to step out of the portal!
"I'm out! Everyone! I'm out!" cried Natalie.
"My love!" cried Sam.
"Go to her! Get her as far away from here as possible!" cried the Mothman. Sam went through the portal and Matt followed.
"Go with them. Take them home." said Tyrone.
"Will do!" saluted Matt. He ran towards the happy couple and gave Tyrone a thumbs up.
Just then, the portal closed.
Tyrone gasped aloud. He and the Mothman were now trapped on the other side.
"What?" cried Tyrone.
The Mothman picked up one of the vines and saw black smoke coming out from them.
"I knew it. There was no curse. Someone was keeping her here the whole time, using her as a tool to trap us." said the Mothman.
Tyrone turned around and saw the Germ, standing a few feet away from them.
"I knew your death was too good to be true Germ." said the Mothman.
"My lord and master, Viscount Brion, orchestrated all this. The capture of Sam and Natalie, transforming him into the BogeyMan, putting his wife here, having you here to destroy the vines! All part of the plan!" exclaimed the Germ.
"Sam and Natalie did nothing to you. And you were punishing them for what?!" cried Tyrone.
"To free the Viscount of course. You see, the vines here were actually chains. Chains that were keeping the doors locked, in a spiritual sense. Now that they have been destroyed, the doors have become loose and the Viscount will escape, leaving nothing but destruction in his wake!" cried the Germ.
The Mothman made a shrieking sound of frustration and anger and he rushed against the door, to make sure it stays closed. He stood there, holding them together as a puff of black smoke was starting to ooze out from the doors. The Mothman kept on shrieking and Tyrone ran to help him. They both held on tightly while the Germ simply cackled in triumph.
"Viscount Brion! Can you hear me?! The doors have been unlocked. You may now be free! Free from this prison! Free to rule all of Rood Bridge Park! Rise my dear lord! Rise!" cried the Germ.
Just then, the doors burst open and fire came out. The fire was so strong and hot, it melted away the plants that were there. The Germ screamed in anguish as the flames consumed him and burned him to oblivion, finally killing him once and for all.
After the flames died out, the dark shadow of the Viscount Brion was emerging. The Mothman stood at the front of the door, ready to face the Viscount himself.
"Peace and Profit. Peace and Profit." repeated the voice of the Dark Master. Viscount Brion himself didn't look threatening at all. He was an old man with dark brown skin. He looked like a regular human being! Only he was wearing a long black cloak that was dusty and his hair was a mess. His face looked worn out and tired. He was also walking weakly as if he had a hunch. But then, he stood tall and proud, and slowly walked. His tired worn out face then transformed into that of a scowl as he stared at the Mothman. His eyes were orange and red, indicating his hatred and fury.
"Brion." said the Mothman, standing his guard.
"Please dear Mothman. It's Viscount Brion." said he, with a soothing voice, yet with a menacing echo behind it.
Tyrone hid from behind one of the pillars and looked at the ordeal.
"You planned your escape using humans." said the Mothman.
"Yes. I'm surprised your visions didn't allow you to see what was coming. I was anticipating you would do something like this." said Brion.
"You vulture." said the Mothman.
"I know lives were ruined. I've got to say, transforming the young man into a BogeyMan was not in the plans. The Germ was hoping to kill me as well. As for the young lad and the teenager who took him in, that too was not in the plans. People got involved and I think that is what triggered you to see into this matter." said Brion.
"Even if those events didn't happen, I still would have come to stop you," said the Mothman.
"By then, it would have been too late. I would have laid waste on Rood Bridge Park in good time." said Brion.
"Rood Bridge Park is a sanctuary. You will not destroy it." said the Mothman.
"Mothman, you are one of an order of a thousand other Moth People. I'm surprised they have not seen a vision of me escaping. And do you know why? Rood Bridge Park itself is in danger. The hidden world is very soon going to be not so hidden anymore. Such a shame." said Brion.
Tyrone then felt his entire body cold and then pulled from the pillar he was hiding. He then realized he was floating up into the air. He looked down quickly and saw the Viscount holding his hand out. It appeared the old man was using some sort of power to pull Tyrone up into the air, facing him.
"So you are the one named Tyrone. The newest human to ever come across Rood Bridge Park. Interesting." said the Viscount.
"You're going to kill me?" asked Tyrone, trying not to sound afraid.
"Heavens no! That would be barbaric! You are a newcomer to this hidden world. Killing you would only take us Rood Bridge Park citizens a thousand years back. But I'm interested in what you will do my boy. The Mothman has you in high regard and that somewhat troubles me. But you are still human. I'll probably show just one ounce of mercy since I have been freed from this prison I was in." He then pushed Tyrone away with his power and Tyrone was thrown towards the Mothman, who caught him just in time.
And without a moment's hesitation, Viscount Brion summoned the Dark Impulse from the ground and it consumed him. "Viva la Princepai!" cried the Viscount, screaming in the ancient Rood Bridge Language.
"Oh no you don't!" cried the Mothman. He summoned an orb of light from his hands and he shot it at the Viscount, paralyzing him. The Viscount's face was frozen, however, the dark impulse surrounding him was still moving, consuming his entire body. The Mothman jumped up into the air, in the hopes of smacking him to the ground. But it was too late. The paralyzed Viscount vanished into thin air and the dark impulse was gone. The Mothman hit the ground with his fists.
"Damn!" he said aloud.
Tyrone walked over to him and patted his back. "You did your best. Now what's going to happen?" asked Tyrone.
"I must make my report to the Queen. With the Viscount paralyzed, we have enough time to warn everyone back home about the threat." said the Mothman.
"Is there anything I can do?" asked Tyrone.
The Mothman stood up and patted Tyrone's shoulder.
"Young Tyrone, thank you. But for your safety, you must return home to Matt. I'm afraid this has become a much bigger affair." said the Mothman.
