—- Hell hath no fury like an Augusta
"Uncle, have we received any correspondence from Sanditon?" Augusta inquired just as he took a bite of bacon.
Clearly this plan was only going to go off WITH a hitch.
"Miss Lamb and I have been exchanging letters and she had mentioned she would send along an invitation to her birthday celebration." she continued.
"Indeed, Augusta. I have received the invitation. I had planned to decline, your season is going so well I did not think you would want to interrupt it." Alexander stated firmly
"To the contrary uncle, I would love to further my acquaintance with Miss. Lamb. She is quite close to Miss Heywood and I had hoped to see her again." She blurted enthusiastically.
" I am sure Miss Heywood would be proud and glad to know of your accomplishments, but that is not a reason for us to journey back to Sanditon on such short notice. It would interrupt Leo's studies as well." Alexander replied
"What would interrupt my studies, father?" Leo skidded to a halt in front of the dining room.
This was NOT becoming less complicated. Alexander tried everything he could think of to dissuade, cajole, convince, bribe, or distract the two of them. It was all for naught and ended in Augusta giving him the set-down of his life.
So, finally, it was "agreed" that they were all going to Sanditon to attend Miss Georgiana Lamb's birthday celebration.
