Mabel POV

On the road, Mabel couldn't help but think about the boy that was in the woods. Dipper had told her his name and his sob story. She sympathized with him. She was sure there was a connection between the two of them.

She was also sure he was a vampire. He had the most pale skin she's ever seen. His eyes were weird too. A blue and a brown one? Awesome! He'd be the more perfect version of her first boyfriend. He was great except he was a bunch of gnomes. Maybe his weird bracelet thing had something to do with his family. Maybe the symbol meant something

"Say your bracelet thing, what does the bow and arrow mean?"

"It's a symbol of Artemis the Greek goddess," Ace said.

"What does Artemis have to do with you, Ace," said Dipper, joining in the conversation. Mabel shot a look at him that said He's mine! Dipper ignored her.

Ace hesitated before saying, "It belonged to my father." Dipper nodded respectfully.

Soon enough, they reached a tourist trap. It looked like a house but it had a few adjustments. It had giant letters on the top of the house that said MYSTERY HACK. The 'S' had fallen down and flipped upside down.

Do people actually go inside? Artemis thought. It was daylight now and it seemed many people that went inside. They were tourists that were trapped in this debatable stable house.

Dipper sighed. It was a mix of irritation, as if the tourists going inside annoyed him too, and a mix of relief.

"Home, sweet home. So sweet," said Mabel, beaming at Artemis.

"This tourist trap is your home?"

"Well, not really. We're staying here for summer with our Gruncle Stan," Dipper explained.

"Gruncle?"

"He's our Gran-uncle but that's too long," said Mabel, still beaming at Artemis.

Artemis realized the differences between the two twins. Mabel was silly and hyper. Always positive. She was the complete opposite of Artemis. He got a feeling she has cried before, and not for a silly reason. Dipper was rational but into creatures that any other rational person would deny existed. Kind of like Artemis when he was younger. Except Artemis was cruel and serious. At least they didn't meet the consciousness of the 12-year-old him.

An old man around the age of fifty with a red fez and a suit opened the door so all the tourists scrambled inside. He yelled things like, "Sights of the strangest creatures you've never seen before! Six-pack-a-lope are waiting for you inside!" Artemis took an instant dislike to him. He was the kind of person to lie to people for money- oh. That's what young Artemis was like- But he was a fraud, unlike Artemis. Oh, stop thinking like that!

He noticed the three of them and shot a look at the twins that clearly said Who the heck is that bozo next to you? Mabel's next victim? GET BACK IN HERE. Mabel locked her elbow in Artemis' subconsciously and ran to the tourist trap. Dipper followed closely behind.

When Mabel reached the doorstep, she realized what she did. She hid away her arm and blushed. Artemis smiled his vampire smile. Mabel saw it. He stopped smiling but it was too late. The deed has been done. Artemis worried she'd go against him or run to her brother but instead she beamed up brighter than Artemis thought possible. Usually his infamous smile instilled fear in others or made him lose trust with someone in the snap of a finger.

Though, she did run to her brother and whisper in his ear but instead of Dipper giving him suspicious looks, it looked he was scolding Mabel.

Artemis really couldn't guess what they were talking about.

"The last time you thought your boyfriend was a vampire he was a stack of gnomes." Dipper was tired of her boyfriend business.

"I'm sure this time! He had the teeth and evil, beautiful vampire smile!"

"Let's talk about this inside, Stan looks like he's gonna kill us."

"Okaaaaay."

Inside, The shop was the same as always. Tourists checking the corners for everything they could find.

"Dipper, I think he does magic too! A magic vampire! Its almost too good to be true!"

It might be too good to be true… Dipper thought. A magic vampire? I should check the books.

"Okay. The kid told me everything. Can't say I really believe him though. Dead parents? Sure. But a wild kid in the forest? His teeth are too nice for that. Plus, he looks like he's never seen the sun. Would a kid you found in the forest never seen the sun?" Dipper was starting to believe he was some kind of forest vampire after all.

"Of course, Gruncle Stan, he's a vampire!" Mabel said, squealing. Gruncle Stan almost considered it for a moment.

"Sure, kid," he said sarcastically. It seemed as if Gruncle Stan doubted the fact himself.

Ace entered the room and Mabel beamed as she always did around boys like Ace. Now that he had a good look at him, he did look a bit strange for an 'outdoor kid'. His glassy eyes with mismatched eye colors, snow white skin almost like Lil Gideon's, and perfectly-aligned white teeth. He smiled in a way that didn't match his warm brown eye. Dipper got a chill down his spine. "Thanks for letting me into your - your … humble abode."

"Say, Ace, what's up with your eyes?" Dipper asked straightforwardly.

He visibly tensed. "My eyes?"

"Yeah, their two different colors. One's blue and the other is brown." Ace froze. He had a look of panic in his eyes. Then he calmed himself in about 0.2 seconds. "I'm sure you've heard of Heterochromia iridium. I was born with two different eye colors." If he was lying, how did he know all that about heterochro-whatever? Still, Dipper felt like his eye color was unnatural, as if it was caused by something other than a disease.

How is this possible? Artemis thought. Well I suppose anything is possible in this dimension.

He was in the mirror staring into his own eyes. But it felt like staring into Holly's eyes. That's how I was able to collect magic. I should've figured it out.

He left the bathroom. It was rusty and disgusting but he was glad to be able to clean himself and take off the ridiculous, off color clothing. He scourged through a nearby closet and found a dusty suit. It was a bit loose on him. It was sagging down. It was morning now. He wanted to explore the town and learn what was going on and if the politics were anything like the one from his dimension. Their mechanic, Soos, had a good grasp on reality. Too bad he was working for a man like Stanley. He could have been so much more.

Stan noticed Ace going towards the door outside. "What are you doing, kid?"

Artemis turned slowly. He flashed a smile. It clearly sent shivers down Stan's spine. "Just going to the town. You know- explore."

Stan gulped his dignity. He seemed to stare at the sunny outdoors through the window- sunny? Stan smiled and seemed relieved. Relieved of what?

"Take Soos with ya. He has to do stuff," Stan added on.

Soos popped out of a closet. "I have to go to the arcade." Artemis mentally rolled his eyes. He started to go out but another voice interrupted him. "Wait! Take me too." He had an urge to strangle somebody, anybody.

It was Mabel. She had a big hot pink backpack. It looked stuffed with items. She hurried to stand next to him. "Let's go Explore!"
