I'm gonna update my other stuff in a little bit, but for the moment I feel like dabbling in the inspiration wagon.

Namely, with this quest featuring Legends era Pokémon. This is an untapped market that Game Freaks given us, and I intend to capitalize on it!

Now, let's get this started!

Chapter 0: And -_- Said!

...Oh? Someone enters mine realm? Curiouser and most wonderous. It hath been ages since one has ventured to see thine true face. Hmm. Well met then, dear...Hmm. This is actually mildly embarrassing. It's ever so difficult to tell how old you manlings can be at points, my apologies. Still, you have done well to come this far, and I shall honor thine determination thusly. Though power I can grant you not, nor mine own aid, knowledge shall ever be the tool thine hoo-mans treasure so.

The tumbling of stones and Apricorns filled your mind, as the image exploded like a firework.

(You can now craft Pokéballs)

These shall help thee on thine journey. Forge your bonds and when next we meet, show me that this encounter was no mistake.

Farewell.

These were the words that echoed through your dreams every night. Never could you forget the turning point in your life, the chance encounter that would pave the way for the rest of your existence.

You looked down at the small ball in your hand, at the symbol of the future that proved it was no idle dream. You.

Were Going to Change. EVERYTHING.

And it all started here, in Kalos. The beautiful region with a deep, tragic history. For ages it has suffered from plagues, warring factions, and outside influences attempting to annex their lovely home before it all came to a head in a literal cataclysm that shifted the very way the world saw them. From that moment, the world decided 'okay, maybe lets go somewhere else. Just for a bit.' And so Kalos entered an uneasy period of recovery.

The people found that they didn't much care for war anymore, not when they had all come so close to losing everything. It wouldn't be inaccurate to say this was a new Renaissance for your fair region. That wasn't to say that everything was sunshine and rainbows however. Far from it in fact.

No. Now, more than ever was the time to change this wretched system once and for all.

While it was true you hadn't been around long by any standards, that didn't mean you didn't understand just how awful the sheer devastation and destruction the previous generation had wrought.

It was only by sheer luck that you, even younger than you were now, just happened to save the strange, squishy green being all those years ago from falling from that roof. It showed you a path that could stop the bloodshed, the fear and terror that ignited all this in the first place.

People might look at you as a stupid kid too young to know any better, but that didn't mean a damn thing. The future was yours to make, and you were more than willing to take the first steps forward.

Your name was Mint of the Sage household, and you would be the start of something so much greater. The first spark in the cold Kalosian night that would ignite the passions of all who beheld you!

Well, you and your Partner Fletchling. As far as places to live as well, Vaniville was...peaceful, as a general descriptor. Being too far from the heavily contested center of the region from which one could claim anew their kingdom, away from the fierce coastlands that invited threats and greatness from the sky and sea equally, the quiet place you called home was best known for the forestry that surrounded it. Small to mid sized farms dotted the areas where the foliage was lighter, and what trucks could be safely logged were done so swiftly and with much haste to not be interfered with by the local Pokémon.

All of this was secondary to the Great Visionary Mint Sage, sitting cross legged in a pose he viewed as wise no matter how many people cooed when they saw him. Obviously they were simply appreciating the view of Fletchling likewise perching on his head as was his want.

No, the main draw on Mint's mind was the immediate abundance of Apricorns that dotted the lands surrounding his small 'fief'. Generally ignored by most everything due to the fact that their shells were incredibly hard and, when hollowed out, simply gave a mediocre tasting nut not at all worth the effort of getting at compared to whatever else was available, previously had them valued simply for the quantity of wood it would create and how easily they could grow. But you knew the truth now.

The humble Apricorn, combined with a Tumblestone to crack the shell and reveal the true purpose of the nut within, would be the key to Mint's success. Before when 'taming' a Fletchling, one would normally need to clip ones wings young and raise it till it saw you as a reliable source of food, before waiting till the wing feathers grew back to be any use. But the 'Pokéball', seemed to immensely shorten the time needed to form a bond. As if it established the raw determination Mint felt every waking moment, simply by being by his side.

This was the wonder Mint was gifted with, and far be it from him to waste time making the best of it.

Still, wonder that it was, there were many factors working against him. For starters, his age, which for all that it was an advantage in most everything Mint could care to think of, he was also aware that it tended to make his goals and discoveries...ring hollow, to be polite.

Mint felt his ears begin to burn red as he recalled being laughed out of the carvehouse by an elder logger when he returned the day after his revelation screaming about Aprcrns and Stuns with a bit lip, but shook it off with the ease of practice.

The other stumbling block was proving that his 'Pokéball' wasn't some kind of one-off chance that happened to only work on Fletchling, even if that would still be massively useful.

So, obviously, Mint just needed to prove there was nothing that couldn't be caught in one. As far as he knew, there wasn't after all. (And he knew a lot!)

Yes, this would be his first step in his path to learn as much as he could, because his parents, for the short time he knew them, were avid seekers of knowledge. It was what lead to their deaths, after all.

But that didn't mean he would let it stop. The world was a scary enough place all on its own, regardless of the people in it who sought to make it just that bit darker whenever they could. Mint knew, within his heart of hearts, the thrum of blood running through his hands and his mind racing behind his eyes, that there was nothing else he would rather do.

Mint was going to decipher and understand every damn thing in this crazy world, and show everyone else that the time to be scared was over.

Every step was assured. Hesitance was cast aside in favor of future made by ones own hands. This might have been a world where the mighty ruled atop distant pillars and thrones, but there was always a saying that Mint took as gospel.

'Work Smarter, Not Harder'.

So what could he achieve if he did both?

Hopefully, Whatever the hell he needed to.

Child though he may have been, as far as he was concerned? He would be a man.

Fletchling nuzzled his cheek as he was returned to the present, flashing a little smile as he cooed a little treat and fluffed a feather.

And a true man, never settled for anything but the best.
