Dawn light shone through the room in long beams upon the hand woven quilt. The bodies entwined under the lovely crafted quilt in the relaxation of ecstasy reached and companionship found. Crimson hair tucked under and caught upon Qrow's scruffy beard. Ruby couldn't remember the last time she had been so relaxed, even her bones felt good. No aches or pain, each muscle happy and relaxed on post orgasmic bliss. She breathed deeply of Qrow's relaxing scent and for one little perfect moment in time. Ruby was happy, something that hadn't happened since that one night before the last battle.
Qrow was equally enraptured with the moment, just as filled with the relaxation of orgasm. His body singing on the pleasure they had shared and relaxed to a level he had missed. She fit so perfectly against him, her lovely scent of roses in his nose. He never thought he'd have this again. Someone to hold, how wanted him.
Ruby hummed and opened her eyes. "Good morning." She yawned with a little cute squeak.
"Good morning." Qrow rasped.
They enjoyed the silence and each other for a moment. No wind blew outside, it was peaceful and quiet. What that meant slowly dawned on Qrow. "Are you going to leave?"
The red hair traced along a long scar over his pectorals. "I was thinking about it. At least I would want to go home and thank dad properly. He was right after all."
"Heh, yeah he was." He reached up and took hold of her hand gently. "I… I just don't know…"
"He'll be happy to see you. He probably missed you too. This place will keep for the winter, or we could come back after. On the other hand Dad has left me the house, it's nicer than here."
Qrow chuckled. "Yeah I remember that. Harder to fix though."
"But closer to Vale and things to fix it with. And I am sure dad gets lonely and would appreciate the company."
"Well… I supposed we should go talk to him."
Ruby sat up and stretched. "Let's get ready then."
They got ready to leave, packed up bags and had breakfast. Qrow sealed up his food stores, he looked around his little house. Battered but it had been home for a very long time. Memories of Ozpin lingered in the corners. A warm hand took his, Qrow looked down and shared in her smile. Ozpin would be happy for him to move on, both past him and beyond the misery that had defined his life.
Together they departed, Qrow locked the door behind them and shivered in the crisp cold morning air.
"Lovely day." Ruby said looking up at the bright sky.
"Best make use of it. For all we know another storm could be around the corner."
The trip took several days but no one paid them any mind. They killed what few Grimm they came on and took a ship from Vale to Patch, both of them ready for home.
Qrow and Ruby walked up to Taiyang's front door. The red eyed man reached up with trepidation and knocked lightly. Ruby hugged his arm. "It will be fine."
"I hope so."
The door opened with a creak and Taiyang's smile upon seeing them, made them sure that everything would be okay. Even as Tai's strong tanned arms drew the pair into a gripping hug they could faintly hear the sound of wedding bells in the lingering winds. Cheers and laughter rained as parties were planned and those who lived to see the sun rise from the war came to celebrate.
Then there was one final joy, as it turned out Ruby and Qrow's night together came with a new surprise on the horizon. When the winds finally died down and the blizzard outside settled a new life came into being. A beautiful little girl they lovingly named Ophelia together. The tiny girl who lay snuggled against Ruby's bosom after many hours of labour sleeping peacefully.
Together Qrow and Ruby finally put up their swords, crossed together in a spot of their own where they would remain unless called upon. No longer did the scent of blood and death follow in their every wake; no longer did Qrow blame himself for the things he could not control and no longer did Ruby's gaze linger in the past on the man she had grown to love and later lose. No. As joined as Qrow and Ruby were, with their friends and family beside them and a future ahead, as a family they were restored.
