Summary: Kagome did have darkness in her heart. All it took was the right person to awaken it, and that person was none other than Moriarty. It just so happens that she loves him enough to play double-agent in his game with Sherlock. Befriending John and Sherlock was an easy enough task for her. Now, all that was left was to watch from the sidelines as Jim gave her the show of a lifetime.
Pairing: Moriarty/Kagome
Disclaimer: I do not own either series. Each belongs to their rightful owners.

Prologue
He had kept his sharp gaze focused on her since the moment they'd entered the room. She was already the smallest person in that room, and, yet, his gaze made her feel even smaller. She felt as if she was standing all by herself, the world and noise fading away as she kept straying her gaze back up to meet his own.
She was unsure of what was being said at this point. He was holding a full-fledged conversation with her companion, the silver-haired demon on her right- all the while he kept his stare fixed entirely on her. She knew Sesshoumaru must've been aware of it by now, but he didn't seem phased.
Kagome closed her eyes and turned her head to the side again, but she knew he'd let his stare continue to linger on her. When she looked back at him next, she knew their eyes would meet yet again.
The voices had turned to radio static to her at this point, and she barely even registered it when silence swept over the area. Suddenly more sets of eyes were focused on her, and she resisted the urge to shake her head to call her senses back to her.
"Eh?" She looked up to meet the molten gold leering down at her in a stoic, icy gaze. Kagome tilted her head to the side, and Sesshoumaru arched a brow.
"Well?" he asked, and Kagome suddenly realized that she'd been asked a question. A question she'd ignored, along with everything else being said. She blinked a few times to give her some time to scramble silently for an answer, and, soon enough, she nodded faintly.
"Er… sure?" she said after a few seconds. She couldn't tell by looking at him if Sesshoumaru had picked up on her lack of paying attention, but, knowing him, he likely didn't care if she had or not, so as long as he got his answer. They made for an odd partnership, but they had history. If he trusted her, then who was she to say no?
When he looked away, she got a whiff of an odd aura from him, and she pursed her lips in a frown as she watched his turned form. Her frown deepened when he continued to ignore her, another thing that was typically common of him.
"I didn't think you'd agree so easily," he stated, and she felt confusion mount.
What did she just agree to?
Kagome held her tone, refraining from saying anything as he combed clawed fingers through his long hair, pushing it back over his shoulder as he glanced back at her from the corner of his eye.
"However, by now I suppose I should be aware that you tend to stray from what I'd expect out of you," he continued without offering any hints. A few quiet seconds ticked by before he abruptly turned and started for the door, not even so much as waiting for her, much to her surprise. "I will be in contact, should you need me."
"Wait," she took a few steps before coming to a halt at accounting for his last words. Had she agreed to stay here for some reason? As he walked towards the door, she remained in place. She didn't feel anything off about his aura, or any other aura she could feel. As cold and aloof as Sesshoumaru could be, she knew he wouldn't willfully walk away and leave her in a situation that would be detrimental for her. He'd even be in contact, she clung to those words.
She trusted Sesshoumaru, after all.
Once he left, and she was left on her own in that unfamiliar place, she slowly turned on her heel to once again meet the gaze of that man. He looked at her with a smile, and he approached her at last.
"Oh, if this isn't exciting," he said as he crept closer. She tilted her head to the side. "After everything I've heard of you, I expected a screaming match," he chuckled. "Gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed that I didn't get to see one. Would've been so entertaining, my dear."
She glanced back at the door behind her before looking back at him. "... would you mind telling me just what exactly it is that I agreed to?" she asked, her tone going soft. She could still feel Sesshoumaru's aura, and she kept her voice down in hopes that he might be far enough away that it didn't reach his ears.
"Hm?" He paused and looked at her, an amused grin breaking out across his face. "Oh, so you were really so zoned out it flew right over that pretty little head of yours, hm?" Kagome felt her cheeks bleed crimson, and she ignored the warmth flooding them as she huffed, folding her arms over her chest and glaring silently at him in response. He chuckled and came to a halt in front of her. "I'm your protector," he said softly, holding both arms out at his sides with a smirk on his face. "I'm the one who's gonna keep you safe while your friend takes care of those people coming for you," he stated.
"Protector?!" Kagome's eyes widened, and she stumbled back a few paces. "I didn't think that this was the solution that Sesshoumaru would come up with!" she exclaimed.
So? So what if she had a couple of really strong demons coming for her all because of the jewel that'd been reabsorbed into her body? She could've sworn she told Sesshoumaru that she had it all under control! She was a miko, for God's sake! When he supposedly let it go, she didn't think he'd go about coming up with a solution behind her back! Her thoughts shifted some, and she recalled in that second how an abundance of humans were also after her for the jewel, much like the demons, and she knew she couldn't really do much about them. Definitely not as much as she could to the demons, that was for certain.
Still! Enlisting some guy to be her professional bodyguard was going just a bit too far, wasn't it?
"Oh, really?" he questioned. "In the few minutes I've spent talking him up, this seems like something he'd totally do."
Kagome sighed, contemplating on dashing out to try and hunt the ancient demon lord down, only to brush the idea off after a few seconds. He'd made his mind up and already gone this far. She knew that even if she did catch him before he was gone, that he wouldn't give her the time of day. He was set on what he was doing, and she had no chance of swaying his plans any.
She sighed and rubbed at her eyes. "Oh God, you're right, this is exactly something he'd do," she grumbled to herself, and he laughed. She shook her head and pulled her hands away from her face, letting blue eyes land on the man standing with her. "So your name is-"
"James Moriarty," he said, "but I go by Jim."
She nodded, offering him a small smile. "Nice to meet you," she said. "You probably already know, but I'm Kagome." He nodded in response.
"Yeah, I know, but it's lovely to hear it from you," he said.
"So, Jim, what do you do?" she asked, tilting her head to the side in innocent curiosity. She knew next to nothing about him, and she knew Sesshoumaru must've told him all sorts of information on her, if only to make his task a bit easier on him.
"I'm a specialist," he said, and she felt her curiosity and intrigue spike. When he turned to walk off, she fell into pace behind him.
"What kind of specialist?" she asked, and he glanced at her with a smirk.
"Oh, you'll learn in due time, my dear," he said. She was placated only a tiny bit by those words. "Don't want to scare you off on the first day, now do I?"
"What makes you think you could scare me off?" she questioned, unable to help the faint hint of stubbornness infecting her voice. He eyed her with a smirk, but he shook his head.
"In due time," he repeated, and she sighed as she relented.
"Oh, fine," she said.
[+5 years]
A creaking door slowly roused her from her sleep, but she didn't bother to even open her eyes as she lay in the comfortable bed, blankets pulled up to her nose. To her, it felt way too early to be awake. Surely it wasn't morning yet, was it? She didn't even want to check.
When she was a kid, she never would've imagined the kind of life she lived. No picture she ever drew would hold any semblance to the life she had now. From her teenage years of fighting demons, to the unusual life she lived alongside her consulting criminal of a husband, none of it matched up to the hopefully optimistic mind of her child self.
It wasn't as if she was miserable, though, so she saw it as a bright enough light.
She knew what he did was bad, but she couldn't find it in her to give that fleeting thought any sort of attention as she slowly woke up that morning. As she lay there, her eyes still closed, she felt a palm ghost over her arm, and she sighed softly.
"Come on, darling, aren't you gonna give me any attention?" Jim's voice was full of a pout, and she cracked an eye open to spot him standing at her side. When she did, she was shocked by the dark room still around her, and she sat up with a huff to stare at the time on her phone.
"Jim, are you kidding me?" she groaned. "It's barely two in the morning. What do you think you're doing waking me up on purpose?" He sat down on the bed, once more letting his palms drag along her arms.
"Is it so bad of me to want your attention?"
"When it's this early, yes," she grumbled in irritation. She heard him chuckle in response. His hands slipped under the blankets and found her own, and she was heaved back up when he gave a powerful tug. Once she was sitting back up, she didn't have even a second to respond before she was swept forward even more, and her face landed against his chest.
Their positions were swapped as he laid on his back, and she lay sprawled out on top of him. With a sigh, she closed her eyes and snaked her arms up to wrap them around his neck. His hands landed on her hips, and she could feel as they worked her clothes out of the way just enough to allow his palms to land directly on her skin.
"See?" he hummed. "Isn't this better?"
She didn't miss the way his hands dipped down further, pawing at her ass, and she half-heartedly picked her head up to glare at him.
"Jim, it's two in the fucking morning. I'm going back to sleep."
Auroua-chan: I love the idea of these two together.
