Bubble Guppies Teen Years: Jane´s Origin
Chapter 2: The Only Person Who Loved Me
"That's how it is...I went through this"
"But everything could improve, right?"
"Hmpt well…..Let me tell you that things went from bad to worse...However...I didn't feel alone...There was a small spark of hope in my life...My...my... ..my mom"
Flashback. Some years ago
A few years passed, but things did not improve for the Reed family. Little Jane was going to be 8 years old. She has already entered elementary school. And the truth was, there weren't many changes with her school situation. Her new classmates continued to bother her, since several were the same ones she had in kindergarten. Add that to the domestic violence that she experienced in her house. That was already normal in her house.
Jane's 8th birthday arrived. For economic reasons, her parents decided not to have a party. Also, Jane's father hates the idea. He didn't like meeting multiple people if he wasn't in a canteen. Besides that he didn't really like remembering that he has a girl instead of a boy. I still feel like it wouldn't have changed much. Lately, Jane's mom decided to do something different. She had breakfast earlier with her daughter to have a little loving time before her husband woke up. And when that happened, Jane would no longer be home to see her father. In this way, Jane was saved from hassles in the morning.
However, school was Jane's second place of torment. The cowardly bullies always took advantage of the teachers' carelessness to annoy them. And when they were, they tried to make Jane look like the bad guy in the story. On her birthday, her classmates prepared an unpleasant surprise for her. Jane was having a quiet lunch. It was sad enough that no one remembered her birthday. But Jane stayed positive. Although….her peace of mind wouldn't last long.
"Hello Jane!" A purple fish girl greeted her in a kind way.
"Oh…h…hi" Jane answered. It was strange that someone spoke nice to Jane.
"Happy Birthday!" The girl said happily.
"Oh thanks. Did you really remember?" Jane asked with a big smile.
"Yeah! We prepared a surprise to you" The girl took Jane by the hand and they both went to a classroom. The lights were off. She turned on the lights and some classmates who were bothering her were present. Two blocked the exit to prevent Jane from escaping.
"Hello, birthday girl! We prepare a special surprise for you" The girl leader of the group showed Jane a stale and stinky vanilla cake. Jane backed away but other children grabbed her. The others began to sing.
"Happy Birthday to You
Happy Birthday to You
Happy Birthday Dear Jane
Happy Birthday to…..YOU!"
When everyone said the last, the girl hit Jane with the cake in the face. Leaving the poor girl covered in stinky old cream. She tried to take it off, but the boys wouldn't let her. The group took Jane to the patio so that everyone could see her and laugh at her. Jane was crying, which caused more teasing and laughter.
"Oh you're crying? Do you want to wash your face? What do you say, friends? Shall we wash Jane's face?" The girl leader asked with a evil smile.
"Yeah!" The rest said.
"N..No" Jane tried to talk.
"Alright! The people have spoken!" The girl ordered. They put Jane in the girls' bathroom. And they decided to wash her face in the most humiliating way possible: They washed her face with her face in her toilet. They put her in there to "clean her up" but it was just for fun.
"W…W…Why?" Jane tried to talk.
"Because you´re funny. And we have fun with you….Happy Birthday, Jane! Hahahaha" The whole group decided to leave her there. When everyone left, Jane decided to stick her head out of the toilet and she decided to lie back down in the fetal position to cry again. She didn't know if it was better to be at home or at school. Because both places were hell for her.
The educational system is so "good" that the teachers did not realize what happened. They were just suspicious, because Jane looked wet and smelled bad, but they couldn't do anything about it. Even though Jane had told her mom about all of her bullying, nothing got any better. Because her mother talked to the teacher and she warned. That only caused Jane's classmates to be more rude and abusive towards her out of revenge for her.
Finally, Jane finished her school day and she decided to go home. She knew that in her house the situation was dire, but she had no options. She arrived at her house only to see her father sitting on the couch watching a soccer game. It was obvious that he didn't even bother to ask how her day went. Jane decided to sit close to him without making a sound. She just wanted to start a conversation with her father.
"H…Hello…Dad…" Jane said. He ignored her. He was paying close attention to the television "I….I…I have a bad day on the school….The kids…."
"Sshhhh GrayStone F.C is beating the losers of BubbleCity!" He said.
"Oh well….maybe….Father….Do you know what day it is today? It's...a very important day" Jane tried to tell him about her birthday.
"Today? An important day? What good thing can there be on a Wednesday? Oh...I know!" He smiled a little. Jane thought that he was happy because his daughter was turning 8 years old "Yeah I remember. Wednesdays are crazy nights at the canteen. I hope Jonathan has kept some nice cold beers for me" He said happily. Jane was disappointed.
"Dad…I…I….My birthday…" She tried to tell him.
"I have to get ready for this crazy night!" Jane´s dad commented.
"B…but"
"Agh….You…Do not bother me! Be thankful I didn't hit you" He simply dressed to go out and left without saying anything more to his daughter or his wife. The girl simply tried to clear her mind by putting cartoons on television.
The girl thought that the night of her birthday would simply be a night like any other. However, she felt that someone was calling out to her. The person touched her shoulder.
"Hi, dear!" It was her mom.
"Huh?" She turned to see. What the girl saw caused her to smile big. It was a small strawberry cake. It wasn't the best but the little girl didn't care. She cared more about her mother's gesture of love than the size or quality of the cake.
"Happy Birthday, Jane!" Mrs. Reed smiled happily.
"Thanks, mommy!" Jane hugged her.
"Well….It's time to make a wish" Her mom placed a single candle on the cake. Jane closed her eyes and thought of her wish.
"(I wish to have a better life)" Jane thought. After that, she blew out the candle. Her mom smiled at her with satisfaction.
"We must eat the cake. If your dad finds out that we celebrate your birthday, it will be bad for us" Mrs. Reed said quietly.
"We will" Jane answered. They both ate the cake. Which was not difficult. Well, the cake was small. Mom gave a sigh.
"(sigh) Forgive me, love. I wish I could have bought you a present" Jane´s mom said sadly.
"Mommy...having you with me is my greatest gift!" The girl hugged her mom "I love you!"
"I love you too!" She smiled "Do you want to see if there's anything cute on TV? We can take advantage of the fact that dad is late on Wednesdays"
"Yay!" Both decided to put the television in the section of children's channels. Interestingly, Jane's favorite show at the time came on.
"Bub-bub-bubble, Gup-gup-guppies!
Bubble, bubble, bubble!
Guppy, guppy, guppies!"
"Oh my! Mom! Leave that channel! My favorite show!" Jane said excitedly.
"Wow….Bubble Guppies, huh? I thought they had finished the show in its fourth season" Mrs. Reed asked surprised.
"I know. But sometimes they repeat the episodes. I never missed an episode" Jane was very happy.
"What is your favorite episode?" Her mom asked.
"Bubble Puppy's Fin-tastic Fairytale Adventure!" Jane said it loudly.
"I can't believe that as preschool kids they had the courage to do a show. Too bad they finished the show. I guess they should be your age by now, Jane" Mrs. Reed commented "So….euh….who is your favorite guppy?"
"It is not obvious? I love Gil. He is super funny and goofy. Besides...he is very handsome!" Jane said with a lovely tone.
"Hehehe he is your platonic love, huh? I like the brunette with pink hair. She sings beautiful" Her mom commented.
"Who? Molly? Nah...She's my least favorite. I love her voice but I don't like her. She always annoys my Gilly!" Jane crossed her arms.
"My little jealousy. I don't think Molly is bad. I mean, she can see that she loves her best friend Gil very much" Mrs. Reed said in a funny way.
"Okay…" Jane rolled her eyes.
Without discussing anything else, they both watched a few episodes of the show. It took a while for Jane's mother to pick up her daughter to put her to bed. Jane had to sleep for another day at school.
"Sun! Sun! (yawn) Beautiful sun" She was humming as she tried to go to bed without falling asleep first. She lay down on the bed and was slowly falling asleep.
"Hehehe Good Night, dear…"
"Huh? M…mom"
"Yeah dear?"
"We are... friends, right?"
"Of course"
"And... will we be together forever? It's just... I don't have anyone else" Jane said sadly.
"Honey….We will be together forever. And don't worry... Someday you'll have good friends"
"Thanks, mommy! (yawn) Good night, mom"
"Sleep well….dear"
Back to the Present
"I didn't know you were a fan of the Bubble Guppies...To later put them in mortal danger" Officer Miranda said surprised.
"It was a silly taste in childhood! When I met them, that didn't matter to me anymore" Jane commented bothered.
"I see….Though I'm beginning to see where your crush on Gil and contempt for Molly started from" Miranda analyzed.
"Ugh No! That happened later, cop! But let me continue with the story, okay?" Jane was bothered.
"(sigh) Okay….But…Your mom...Even though everything was against you...Your mom always loved you and took care of you" Miranda commented.
"Well….you´re right. Mom was the first person who truly loved me. And she was the only person who loved me for a long time…I…" Jane tried to hide her feelings.
We'll focus on the outskirts of the Psychiatric Center. Officer Anderson was waiting for his partner smoking. He was approached by another police officer. He was the same snail agent from before.
"Officer Mckenzie? I thought you ran off with Agent Fisher" Anderson asked.
"Fisher has to do paperwork at the office. I have to wait for you two for the report. And what about you, Anderson? Waiting for that daughter of the devil to testify?" Agent Mckenzie asked.
"That's how it is. Looks like Miranda is pulling it off. Something that none of the above could. I guess I underestimated my partner" Anderson said, a little surprised.
"Dude, you trained her. You basically taught her everything you know. It is obvious that Miranda can handle everything" The snail commented.
"I haven't told her but...I'm proud of her..." Anderson said that before blowing out cigarette smoke "Anyway…..I think this case will be essential to get more information from The Cadaverini House. Mckenzie, do you have information? I'm telling you because I know the boss wouldn't give it to me" The snail man looked around making sure no one could see or hear him. He moved closer to Officer Anderson to whisper in his ear.
"I have valuable information...But I will give it to you in a safe place. The Cadaverini House has eyes and ears everywhere" He whispered.
"I know a place….Let's go to the car. We need that information" Officer Anderson commented.
Both officers entered the police car and left for a more private location. Bossi Cadaverini's mafia theme is not a game. It seems that BubbleTucky and Big BubbleCity have some dark secrets.
To Continue…
As a clarification (although I suppose everyone already knows) The original show is considered canon for the BGTY saga from season 1 to 4. Well, from season 5 Zooli would appear and that would break the canon of the BGTY saga.
