Hey babes! I feel like it's been forever since I've posted anything Bellarke, but here I am again with a new fic. This one is part of the Bellarke Bingo event that I signed up for way back in 2019. The prompts I combined are: it was all a dream, "I thought I lost you", and frantic kiss.

Hope you enjoy!

"Clarke!"

His eyes shoot open and his breathing is heavy as he sits up in the bed, his dark curls damp with sweat and sticking to his forehead. The blankets that are wrapped tightly around him feel hotter than they did last night as they trap him in place. His heart is beating erratically in his chest, his eyes blinking to try and focus in the darkness, looking all around him for any sign of her. He needs a sign. Just one sign.

His breathing gets quicker and his heart beats faster when he doesn't see or hear her immediately. The vivid memory of what happened in that tent in the middle of the woods rushes back into the forefront of his mind and he prays repeatedly that the aftermath he's picturing was just a dream. That it wasn't his reality. That he didn't see all the life completely drain from her beautiful blue eyes, eyes that should always be alight with joy and curiosity. That he didn't miss out on saying everything he's wanted to say to her for years, always thinking there'd be another chance to do so. He needs it to just be a dream.

The door to the small room squeaks open a second later and he whips around quickly toward it, every single one of his nerve endings on edge.

"Damn." The figure in the doorway pauses and glances down, moving the door back and forth a few times while tilting their head in thought. "I thought we fixed the squeaking last week."

He lets out a heavy sigh when the voice registers in his head, flooding his body with a sense of pure and utter relief. "Clarke." He's up from the bed in an instant, struggling for a moment to disentangle himself from the blankets. He curses under his breath as he finally gets free, tossing the blankets away and rushing to her.

He cradles her face reverently in his hands, as if she might break if he holds her too tight, and he watches her. He searches her face, especially her eyes, to make sure that this is truly his Clarke, that it's not his mind playing a cruel trick on him. He needs to make sure that it's her.

Once he's satisfied with what he sees, he takes another step forward to close the last of the space between them and crashes their lips together. It's hurried and messy, and not one of his finer moments in life, but he doesn't care. He doesn't care because no one can disturb them in the space they've made for themselves in the woods on the edge of Sanctum. He just needs to feel her in his arms, needs to know that she's really there with him and won't disappear.

His hands move from her face to her hair, and then trail slowly down her back to land on her waist, holding her as close as he can get her.

When he finally breaks the kiss, he engulfs her body with his own, his arms encircling her back securely and his face burying deep in her hair; she's been letting it grow out and he loves it, it reminds him of the early days. He chokes on a sob as all his thoughts and feelings come crashing together, though he begins to relax when her fingers slowly start to card through his hair.

Her voice is barely above a whisper as she speaks, "Bellamy…"

"I thought I lost you," he manages to get out, hugging her a little tighter. "It's been a year and I—" he cuts himself off with another choked sob.

Clarke lets out a heavy sigh against him and then forces their bodies apart just enough so they can look at each other properly. She brings a hand up to his cheek and he leans into the touch. She smiles softly at him. "Another bad dream?"

He nods silently, not trusting himself to speak again just yet. He knows he's going to tell her about it later once he's feeling well enough to do so, they've made it a point to tell each other about the hard stuff, even if it's not easy. But right now he can't get the words out.

She lets out another heavy sigh. "I wish there was more I could do to help you with all of this."

"You being here is help enough," he tells her quietly, his fingers absentmindedly drawing random shapes on her back. "Being able to wake up next to you every morning, getting to hold you, kiss you, love you…that's all I need. You're my everything, Clarke."

She smiles softly, her thumb gently rubbing against the light stubble on his cheek. "And you're mine. I know I've thanked you more times than I can count for bringing me back that day, but I—"

He shakes his head to cut her off. "No. You don't need to keep thanking me. You would've done the same for me. I don't doubt that." He takes a deep breath to steady himself. "Now, I really need something to take my mind off all of this now that I'm awake. Any ideas?"

She gives him a small smile. "I'm sure we can think of something to do. Madi's been bugging me to ask you to tell her some more stories about ancient Earth, whatever you can remember about it."

He smiles genuinely, nodding slowly as he grabs her hand that has been on his face and laces their fingers together. "I think I can do that. I might remember a few stories about Ancient Rome that I used to tell Octavia, she might be interested in hearing those."

"Let's go, then. I've even got some breakfast waiting for you too." She smiles and tugs on his hand, pulling him out of the door of the bedroom and in the direction of where Madi is waiting for them in the main room of the cabin.

Bellamy gladly and willingly follows behind her with a smile permanently etched on his face. He listens to Madi's voice drifting over as she greets them, already going on and on about what she wants to do for the day. She's been so much lighter over the last year, so much more like an actual kid, and it makes his heart swell to see it. She deserves it after what she's been through.

And her relationship with Clarke has improved too, he knows that from what Clarke tells him as they lie in bed at night waiting to fall asleep. That's one of his favorite places to be, curled up in their almost too small bed just holding each other as they talk about their days and share a few sweet kisses.

It's still hard to believe at times that they've reached this place in their lives, something that many of them thought was impossible for a long time. But they're truly, genuinely happy, and he wouldn't trade it for anything.

If he had to go through every single thing in his life again, even the worst of it, just to get to this point, he would. Because it was so worth it.
