Amy was thinking. She did that a lot, these days, and always about the same thing. "I wonder where Melody is? Is she okay? Will the Doctor find her?"

She was broken out of her thoughts by Rory, who seemed to have been trying to get her attention.

Rory was saying, "Amy. Amy, Amy, Amy—"

"What!" She snapped, but was immediately apologetic. "Sorry, Rory, I didn't mean to snap at you."

Rory smiled. "It's okay. Anyway, I think that we both need to get away from our thoughts for a bit. And I have had a perfect idea! I just got invited to visit my cousin Rhys and his wife. Would you like to come?"

"You know what?" Amy said, "Sure. Let's go."

The following morning found the Ponds driving to Wales.

--

"Rhys! What do you mean you'll have guests over tomorrow night! Jack is having dinner with us too, did you forget? Gwen yelled at her husband. She was not happy that she would have to pretend that she has a normal job. Now that Rhys knew about Torchwood, she knew she would have a hard time pretending to have a normal job "working for the government."

"It'll be okay, right?" Rhys asked worriedly. "I can't cancel. They are coming all the way from Leadworth."

Gwen cursed angrily and said, "Fine. I'll tell Jack, and we can all have a fun night out pretending that aliens don't exist. Fine." She slammed the door as she left the room.

--

Amy and Rory waited impatiently outside of Rhys's house. They could hear noises, which quieted once the door opened to reveal Rory's cousin.

"Hello Rory. And you must be Amy! I'm sure you have gotten over your obsession with your imaginary doctor, eh? Anyway, come in!" Rhys ushered them into the room, closing the door behind them, and Amy frowned. She opened her mouth to say something about the Doctor, but Rory stopped her.

Rory said in a low whisper, "Amy, we are pretending to be ordinary people, who don't travel through time and space with a Time Lord on their honeymoon. Okay?"

Amy frowned in acceptance. Rhys, not noticing anything amiss, proceeded to lead the couple into their living room, saying, "My wife Gwen's boss is also having dinner with us. I hope that's alright."

Amy smiled tightly. "That's okay," Rory said, although his tone of voice suggested otherwise. He was not pleased with his cousin's actions. First he brought up the Doctor and said he was not real, and then they were not even going to have a family dinner, because his wife's employer was eating with them.

Amy and Rory followed Rhys over to where Gwen and Jack were sitting. They sat down, and Rhys served the food.

--

"So, what do you do exactly?" Amy asked Gwen in an effort to break the ice.

Gwen shrugged uncomfortably. "I work for the government, that's all." Jack nodded in agreement.

The awkward meal continued on, until Amy's phone rang. As an inside joke, Amy had made her ringtone when the Doctor called the sound that the TARDIS makes, so the meal was interrupted by a wheezing noise, that everyone except Rhys immediately recognized.

Jack and Gwen leapt from their seats. They looked around, but before they could leave to see where the Doctor was, Amy spoke. "Sorry, that was my phone. I better take this call."

The Torchwood members looked at her in shock and confusion as she quickly exited the room. Rory smiled nervously.

--

"Hi Doctor! I'm sorry but I can't talk right now. I'm at dinner with Rory's cousin. I'll call you back later. Any news on Melody?" Amy spoke quickly into her phone. She knew she should have hung up, but she desperately needed to know if the Doctor had found her daughter.

Unfortunately, the Doctor crushed her hopes. "No. I was just calling to see if you wanted to come on another trip."

"Sure. Do you want to pick us up now? I'll check with Rory and call you back, and if he wants to take a tiny detour I will tell you Rory's cousin's address."

"Okay!" The Doctor said, "Bye!"

Amy hung up her phone and entered the dining room, going over to Rory and whispering, "The Doctor wants to pick us up after dinner. Is that okay?"

Rory grinned and nodded enthusiastically, so Amy texted the Doctor Rhys's address.

"Our friend was in the area and he thought he could pick us up. He will be here any second, so we will say our goodbyes now." Rory said.

Rhys nodded. "That's alright. It was nice seeing you."

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

"Jack, would you get that?" Gwen asked.

Jack went over and opened the door.

--

The Doctor was excited. He was thinking about all the places that he could take the Ponds. "Maybe I can take them to Raxacoricofallapatorius! Or the Medusa Cascade—"

His thoughts were cut off when the door opened, revealing a familiar face.

"Jack!" The Doctor cried, a huge smile on his face.

Jack just looked at him in confusion. "Do I know you?"

The Doctor realized his mistake. "No, sorry."

"Then how," asked Jack suspiciously, "did you know my name?"

Before the Doctor could answer, Rory appeared in the doorway.

"Doctor! It's good to see you. I'll get Amy, let's go!" Rory said excitedly.

Jack looked confused. Amy and Rory gathered up their stuff, and said goodbye. Rhys stopped them as they were about to leave.

"Let's walk you to your car," Rhys suggested. Amy and Rory both tried to object, but the Doctor smiled.

"It's not a car, but that would be nice." The Doctor smiled, as if he had said something funny.

--

Gwen spoke to the mysterious man on the way to their vehicle. When the Doctor said they had arrived, she looked around in confusion.

The Doctor pointed them in the direction of a blue box, prompting a gasp from Jack.

"Recognize it, Captain?" The Doctor said teasingly.

Jack opened and closed his mouth without saying anything. Gwen, Rhys, Amy, and Rory all looked at the two in confusion.

"Doctor, what do you mean?" Amy asked, but before he could answer Jack cut in.

"You— you— you're the Doctor." Jack stared at him. "I don't believe it."

The Doctor smirked and said, "Are you my mummy?" Jack beamed and pulled the Doctor into a huge embrace.

"You regenerated! What happened? And where is Donna?"

The Doctor replied, "When Donna touched my hand she had a biological meta crisis, and I had to," the Doctor's voice broke and he swallowed, "I had to erase her memories." Jack's face fell. "Anyway, would you like to come inside? I redecorated, because last regeneration was rather destructive— I tried to put it off, so the energy was more explosive, and—"

Jack laughed. "Sure. I still have my key, you know." Smiling, they both entered the TARDIS.
