...

"NO, NO... Shhhh... Shush... Shhhhh!" Garfield said frantically rushing to the screaming boy just for him to faint and fall backwards.

"Okay..." He spoke in defeat. "And this is why we don't break rule number one."

Garfield paced back and forth, quickly thinking of what to do, before deciding that continuing the plan was the best option.

"It's okay... He- I- god I hate time travel..."

He began pacing faster, his breathing growing increasingly erratic.

"He... I… We'll just think this was a dream, and hopefully won't think too much into it." He concluded before resuming his search for the device.

He looked at every secure box before spotting the label he was looking for. (Warp's Time Machine Device.) As he excitedly went to open the safe, he could clearly see through the glass that it was empty.

"Shit..."

He took a deep breath, trying not to panic. "It's okay... Everything will be okay. Maybe they just temporarily moved it. Or maybe Vic is examining it. Or maybe he's destroying it right now and I am going to be stuck in the past forever." He cried.

He shook his head, quickly composing himself and taking another deep breath. He then turned back to his younger self, still passed out on the ground. Seeing no other option, he let out a long, annoyed sigh.

He walked over, bent down, and tossed himself over his shoulder before walking to the doors. He opened the door a crack, peaking into the hallway, making sure the coast was clear.

He was incredibly careful, making sure he wouldn't be spotted by anyone else. He checked every corner before rushing down every hallway, over and over again.

Taking the elevator was especially tricky, but he was able to finally make it to his bedroom door. Once arriving, he quickly ran into his room and shut the door, letting out a long, exasperated breath.

He steadied his breathing as he wiped the sweat off his brow, relieved he made it without being seen… Unfortunately, that relief was abruptly replaced with disgust as he looked around his messy room.

"Ugh, I can't believe I used to live like this?"

...

Beast Boy slowly opened his eyes before sitting up from his bed. He couldn't help but snicker to himself as he scooted to the edge of his mattress and stood up.

He wanted to laugh at the odd dream he had, the idea of running into his future self being a hilarious one at that, but that humored state quickly vanished as his eyes spotted himself sitting at his desk chair, calmly leaning his forearms on his legs.

His eyes widened and he opened his mouth, but before he could utter a sound, he was interrupted.

"Please don't scream." Garfield said calmly.

"W-Who are you?" Beast Boy asked anxiously.

Garfield looked at him confused. "Who do you think?" He said harshly. "I'm you, genius."

"No, no way!" Beast Boy said in astonishment as he was forced to sit back down on his bed. "Wait! How do I know you're really me?" He asked suspiciously narrowing his eyes.

Garfield let out an annoyed huff at his skepticism. "Your name is Garfield Logan, son of Mark and Marrie Logan. You watched our parents die in boating accident, and you still feel guilty about not being able to save them. You draw attention to yourself because you know people are going to look at you anyway. And you laugh and tell stupid jokes mainly to hide the pain and insecurity we feel about yourself."

Beast Boy stared at him, his mouth ajar.

"Wow, okay." He spoke, blinking a few times, the information he was given forcing him to accept the situation.

He suddenly turned back to his future self, eyeing him up and down before curiously tilting his head to the side. "I thought I would be bigger."

Garfield looked at him appallingly. "Sorry to disappoint."

"Uh, sorry. Never mind." Beast Boy said, shaking his head. "How- no, why are you here?" He asked. "Wait?! Does this have something to do with Starfire going to the future? Did you come back to the past to get past Starfire and bring her back to the future?"

Garfield looked at him confused, baffled by the assumption. "No, it has nothing to do with her." He said shaking his head. "I need Warp's time travel device, but it's not in the evidence room."

"It's not?" Beast Boy questioned.

"Nope." Garfield said calmly. "And getting back to my time relies on me getting it."

"Well, did you ask the others?"

"Nope. I'm not even supposed to be talking to you." He informed him. "Honestly, Vic is going to be pissed if he ever finds out that I did." Garfield finished under his breath.

"Vic?"

"The point is, I'm kind of breaking the most important rule by talking to you." Garfield said sternly, raising his hands to emphasize. "I need you to find out where the device is. Talk to the others, and whatever you do, do not tell them I am here."

Beast Boy nodded in understanding as he stood up. He began to walk to his door, his mind racing over the reality of this being possible, but before he opened the door, he turned and looked around his room.

"Dude, did you clean my room?"

"Yeah, you're probably gonna want to start doing that if you ever want a girlfriend." Garfield informed him.

Beast Boy's eyes intriguingly lit up. "And when exactly does that happen?"

Garfield glared at him. "The device." He reminded harshly.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm going." Beast Boy said, leaving the room.

...

Beast Boy walked into the common room, spotting his leader at the computer, filling in the information on the battle they had earlier that day with Control Freak.

He causally approached him, trying hard not to seem anxious or suspicious in any way, but before he could speak, Robin addressed him.

"Beast Boy, did you get Control Freak's remote put away securely?"

"Um... Yep." He answered. "But I couldn't help but notice that Warp's time travel device was missing."

Robin immediately stopped typing as he lifted up his head. "What do you mean missing?" He asked, his tone serious.

"Like, not there." Beast Boy clarified.

Robin looked at him before turning and quickly running out of the common room. Beast Boy grit his teeth. "Oh, that can't be good." He said before following after his leader.

The boys ran down the hall and into the elevator, going down to the level of the evidence room. Once the doors opened, Robin ran to the room and barged inside, immediately going to the specific slot, seeing for himself that it was empty.

Beast Boy watched as his leader angerly scowled before quick drawing his communicator.

"Cyborg, Warp's time device is gone!"

...

Garfield continued to sit in his room, waiting anxiously for his younger self to return. He sat, leaned over, rested his arms on his legs, and clasped his hands together as he bounded his leg anxiously.

His door suddenly opened, and he quickly lifted up his head, anxious to hear the news.

"Did you find it?" He asked urgently, watching as his younger self timidly walked into the room.

"So… It's kind of... gone." Beast Boy said awkwardly, causing Garfield to dreadfully slump back in his chair. "But the others are looking for it." He added, hoping that would cheer himself up.

"I am going to be stuck in the past forever." Garfield groaned.

"Come on dude, think positive." Beast Boy told him. "Robin will figure out who took it, we'll go retrieve it, and you can go back to your time, doing whatever people in their 30's do."

Garfield turned to him in surprise. "You think I'm 30?"

"Are you not?" Beast Boy asked.

"I'm 27." He informed him harshly.

"Well, you act 30." Beast Boy said informatively crossing his arms.

"And you act 10." Garfield shot back. "Just because puberty hasn't kicked in doesn't mean you need to act like a child."

Beast Boy stared at him, surprised by the insult. "Ouch... When do I become such an ass?"

Garfield sighed, rubbing his temples. "I'm sorry. I'm just a little stressed at the moment."

Beast Boy put his hands in his pockets as he glanced down and kicked the floor. "So..." He began. "When does puberty kick in?" He asked hesitantly.

"Late." Garfield answered before shaking his head. "But you're not supposed to know that. Stop asking questions!" He told him sternly.

"Fine." Beast Boy said defeatedly as he sat down on his bed.

The room grew silent as Beast Boy continued to stare at himself, taking in every change of his future self, from hair style, jawline, uniform, and stature.

"Ummm..." Beast Boy began, breaking the silence. "I know what you said, but I need to know. Do we just give up on bulking out? I mean, I kind of expected by my 20's I would be... bigger."

Garfield sighed, remaining silent for a moment before responding. "You don't give up, you just learn that to achieve bigger muscle tone you have to get your source of protean from meat."

"Oh." Beast Boy pouted. "That's disappointing."

"Don't worry, all that low self-esteem and insecurity changes after you get a girlfriend."

This perked him up, but before Beast Boy could say anything he was interrupted.

"Don't even ask." Garfield said harshly. "I can't tell you who, and I can't tell you when."

"Oh, come on..." Beast Boy wined dramatically. "Can you at least tell me her name?"

Garfield laughed. "That is the last thing you get to know. If I told you who she is, then you will go peruse her, and I will tell you right now, that will just upset her."

Beast Boy huffed disappointedly before turning back to him. "Can we at least talk about the uniform?"

Garfield sighed. "Fine."

"I mean it's a nice upgrade, but the color..."

Garfield glared at him. "Red is the opposite of green on the color wheel, and the others thought it looked better then purple, okay."

"I just think it looks kind of... Christmas-y." Beast Boy added.

Garfield smirked. "That's not what your girlfriend said."

Beast Boy stared at him, shocked, before laughing at the retort. "Good thing I didn't lose my sense of humor."

"No, you just learn not to tell every bad joke you read from the back of a cereal box."

"Okay, harsh. They aren't that bad." Beast Boy defended.

Garfield gave him a stern look. "Yes, they are. And the sooner you accept that, the better."

Garfield glanced at the cat clock on the wall before letting out a heavy sigh. He wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, and he needed to accept that.

"It's getting late, and I traveled here from Washington, so I'm pretty tired."

"Wait, why were you in Washington?" Beast Boy asked.

"Time travel mishap." Garfield answered.

"Okay, well... I call top bunk!" Beast Boy said excitedly, hopping up and jumping onto the top bed.

Garfield watched his over-the-top enthusiasm. "Okay, you need to calm down, this isn't a sleepover."

Beast Boy smiled, giving him a knowing look. "Actually, it is."

"Okay fine, just tone down the enthusiasm." Garfield said kicking off his shoes and grabbing the hem of his shirt, pulling it over his head.

He stretched his arms, wincing at his sore muscles from flying so much before sensing he was being watched. He slowly turned back to himself on the bed, noticing his younger self admiring him.

"I thought you said I wasn't bulky enough." He confronted, crossing his arms.

Beast Boy tilted his head. "You look way better without the shirt."

"Thanks?" Garfield said awkwardly turning before snickering and turning back to himself as they spoke in unison.

"That's what your girlfriend said!"
