AN: This is a story that I am writing for BraveVesperia1. They requested, and as I've never written or read anything like it (closest fiction I've seen like it is Junior), I thought why not? Depending how long it gets, it'll be split between three chapters, one for each year.

Warning: Magical Male Pregnancy. Spell used to impregnate a boy. This is a heterosexual relationship between Hermione Granger, and BraveVesperia's OMC Josh Maxwell. Strange mix of American and British English. Mommy!Josh, Daddy!Hermione. Demi!Harry.

Chapter One:
1995

They met when she was fifteen. Hermione Granger didn't know how important the small boy would be to her, but she knew that she wouldn't let him be bullied if there was something that she could do about it. So she did, making a new friend, and maybe something else.

Hermione just finished her fourth year at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It had been a harrowing year. Her best friends fighting, and Harry ending up in more danger than anyone could realise.. Worse than any year before. The girl was stressed, and it showed in how she acted upon her parents picking her up from the station. She was a reading history book on past magical wars, muttering about tactics. Her wand was stuck behind her ear, hidden by her hair. She jumped at sudden movements.

Her parents, two days later, were worried.

"Hermione, can we talk?" Jane Granger asked after knocking on her daughter's door. The girl looked up, revealing dark circles under her eyes. Jane sat down on her daughter's bed. The only chair was occupied by the inhabitant. "What's going on, sweetheart?"

"Mum...I...Harry's in danger. You remember me telling you about the last Dark Lord?" Hermione asked hopefully.

"That flight of death guy, right?" Her mother nodded.

"He's back." The woman flinched, staring at her daughter in horror. "The ministry is denying it. They're claiming that Harry is making it all up for attention, or something that Cedric did or said to him in the maze that made him lash out. Harry isn't like that." Jane exhaled slowly, opening her arms so her daughter could get a hug. Hermione gratefully fell into one.

"I take it, there is no hope of you not staying away until this all ends?" The woman asked hopefully as she pat down her daughter's hair.

"Mum!" From the tone alone, the woman knew that there was no hope of what she wanted. Jane inhaled, hugging her daughter a bit tighter. "What do I do, mum? We're just kids, but poor Harry is always targeted, and the adults in the Wizarding World won't help us."

"Then you help yourselves." Jane replied instantly. "For today, that means relaxing. You are going to leave this room, and go on a walk." Hermione opened her mouth to protest. "I mean it, Hermione. You are going to leave this room, get some fresh air, and maybe talk to someone that doesn't know about all this." She motioned her hand in a circle to indicate the situation and the magical items in her daughter's room. "Do you understand? Tomorrow, we'll find a self-defense dojo or something. Today, you will go outside, and forget about it."

"Yes, mum." The girl sighed, relaxing into the hug for a moment. Her mother hummed softly, petting Hermione's hair.

Hermione yawned as she found herself walking to the park that was near her house. Her curly brown hair was in a loose bun, as she liked to wear it most times. She wore her wand as if it were a hair-stick, to camouflage it. A simple band shirt and jeans made up her outfit. It was the easiest outfit to choose, and it left her arms and legs free to fight if Death Eaters showed up, even if she doubted that happening.

She was debating sitting down under a tree or something, when she heard it.

"Just give us your money." The girl frowned, looking around to figure out who was speaking. A group of tall teens, easily her age or older, stood over a small girl. Hermione frowned, looking closely at the older teens. A few of them looked familiar. "You don't want trouble do you, kid?"

"I don't have anything to give to you." The boy whined. "I just came here to stay with my grandmother for the summer. I don't know why you think I have some money on me, but you're mistaken." The leader of the bullies took a step closer in anger.

"Hey!" Hermione yelled, startling them. She stood, foot forward, arms crossed as she gave them the same look that Professor McGonagall gave the twins. "Leave him alone, now. Bullying is not attractive, and trust me, no girl thinks it's cool if they have a good opinion of themselves."

"It's Bookworm Granger." Sneered one of the ones she finally recalled. A bully from primary school. "What are you going to do about it, Bookworm? Go crying to mummy and daddy again." Hermione flexed her hands itching to hex them.

Instead, she waited until the one speaking was close enough, and decked him just as she did to Draco Malfoy little over a year ago. The girl stared impassively as his friends cried out his name in worry as blood dripped down his face. She gave them a look that made them run away. She turned to the boy, and actually took him in.

He was pretty.

He had long brown hair that was just a few shades short of blond, and reached his mid back in a braid, while his fringe was styled to the right. His eyes were a pretty hazel color that hid behind golden framed glasses. A beauty mark was barely visible under his right eye. His skin tone was a pretty latte color that held no scars. He wasn't very tall, Hermione outstripped him in height, and she was only 165 cm, and he barely reached her shoulders. He wore a reddish-pink tunic with golden leggings of all things, and red boots.

He also had more of an hourglass figure than she did!

"Hi." Hermione offered a smile, "you shouldn't let them corner you. They like to pick on those that are different."

"Different, huh?" The boy deflated, making the girl laugh. He blushed, looking up at her. "Um...?"

"I'm Hermione Granger. When I said different, I didn't mean it in a bad way." The girl shrugged, before moving closer.

"I'm, um, Josh Maxwell?" He introduced himself hesitantly.

"Are you sure about that?" She teased, smirking. "How long have you been in London, Josh?"

"Oh, um, a week?" He was so cute, Hermione felt like pinching his cheek.

"Well, then that means you haven't seen anything yet, right?" The girl went to say more before frowning. "You're the grandson of Dorothy Maxwell, right?"

"You know my grandma?" Hermione nodded, smiling.

"I live right next door! I just got home from my boarding school." Hermione looked around, "want to go get a cone?"

"Cone?" The boy tilted his head, blush finally fading. Hermione bit her lip, thinking.

"An Ice Cream Cone?" The boy brightened before deflating.

"But I really don't have any money right now." The boy pouted. Hermione grinned.

"Well, luckily for you, I have an allowance that is burning a hole in my pocket." The boy blushed shyly, hesitant in agreeing. "Please? None of my friends live around here, and I think we get along great."

"Okay...but I'm paying next time!" Hermione grinned, grabbing his hand, which caused Josh to blush once more. "Um, I, you, huh?"

"So we don't get separated!"

They ended up in the park, sitting under a tree, talking about their lives. Learning about each other. Hermione was amused to learn a few things about Josh. While he was flustered about them, she thought it was cute.

Josh hated bugs, he grew up in a home where cleanliness was mandatory. Any bug met germs, germs meant that you were going to get sick. He bashfully admitted that he was terrified of hissing cockroaches. He wasn't as a neat freak as his mother had been, but he kept his things organized, and orderly, to ensure bugs weren't in his room or house.

Hermione admitted her biggest fear was failure. She explained that growing up, until she turned eleven and met Harry and Ron, that she never had friends, and that studying and teacher praise was all she had. Then, when she arrived at Hogwarts School for the Gifted, she feared that failure meant that she would be forced to leave her friends behind.

Josh explained that his father had died in a fire caused by a faulty wire. He'd lived through getting out the first time, with Josh in his arms. Then, he died after pushing Josh's mother out the second story window. A support beam had fallen on him. He died almost instantly, with how the beam struck his head. Josh was terrified of fire now.

Hermione told him about the basilisk, substituting a death adder to dumb down the magic quality. She told him how she was paralyzed, unable to communicate with her friends and family. How she couldn't tell anyone who was causing the snake to attack others. Not that she had been aware. She quickly said that she'd never go near a snake again.

Josh pouted at that information, before informing her of the corn snake he used to have in the United States. Then he teared up, telling her how a bully had seen him with it, and smashed it's skull in. Hermione gave him a half hug, squeezing him to her side.

She told him about Crookshanks, and how he'd helped Harry's godfather, when it was revealed the man was innocent. How the smart cat was always after the real person who had done what they said that Sirius Black did. That got her talking about how she and Harry saved Sirius by breaking him out of his holding room.

"Wow." Hermione blushed at the awed tone in Josh's voice.

"So, any friends that you left behind?" Josh blushed, shrugging.

"One. They go to a special school too. They're really smart." Josh sighed, slumping. "I had this huge crush on them, even though we only saw each other during summer break." Hermione hummed thoughtfully, knocking their shoulders together. "I told them I was coming here, and they told me that they were dating a boy from their class."

"I'm sorry." The two stood. "We should probably head home now. We can meet up tomorrow?"

"Sure."

Harry had came over, Hermione ensuring that he could go to the Dojo with her. The two would be taking lessons together when possible. That meant twice a week for Harry, on days that he could convince his aunt to give him a ride in. It eased something in Hermione, causing her to smile, as they spoke about plans.

This was something that the both of them needed. Harry needed a friend, and Hermione needed someone to need her. It worked perfectly. They were the sibling that the other always wished for. Harry even began to see the Grangers as his parental figures. To have a positive adult relationship in his life.

When they were at the park, enjoying a cone, Hermione didn't notice Josh as she laughed at something Harry had said. She never saw the heartbroken look in his eyes. She missed seeing him run away as tears fell down his face.

She was too focused on her best friend.

Hermione knocked on the Maxwell door, again. She'd seen Dorothy leave half an hour before to go to the library, like she did every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. So she figured she'd see if Josh wanted to hang out. The two were getting along great in the last few days that she'd been home. She knew that Josh was an early riser, so he should be answering the door.

"Josh?" She called again, frowning. "Josh, are you okay?"

"Go away!"

"Josh, open the door!" Hermione frowned, feeling hurt. "What's wrong?"

"Go away, Hermione! I don't want to talk to you!" The girl inhaled sharply before narrowing her eyes dangerously.

"You have five seconds to open this door before I get the spare key and come in after you." Hermione warned, eyes narrowing. "One." Shuffling could be heard. "Two." She bent down to get the key. "Three." She growled as she lifted the key to the lock. "Four." Footsteps could be heard in the background, shuffling back and forth as they came closer to the door and away. "Five!"

When she opened the door, Hermione wasn't expecting to see tears streaming down Josh's face.

"Go away!" He shouted, spinning around to run into the other room. Hermione was quicker, perks of being friends with the youngest seeker of the century. "Let me go!"

"Josh, what happened? Why are you crying?" The boy flinched, looking away. "Josh-"

"Go away, please." The boy uttered, trying to pull away.

"How can I help my friends if they keep pushing me away?" Hermione grunted when a skinny elbow rammed into her stomach.

"You can't help, so stop trying to!" The boy yelled, and her arms fell down. Tears filled her own eyes, but she refused to let them fall.

"Josh, why? Why won't you let me help?" Hermione whispered, fighting back her sobs. "You're my friend, and I hate when my friends are upset!"

"Stop!" Josh yelled, "stop comparing me to him!" Hermione gaped before it all clicked and she started to laugh. "Stop laughing!"

"I'm sorry! But you're jealous of someone I see as family." Hermione pulled a confused Josh into a hug. "Harry is like my little brother." Josh was blushing when she pulled away. "I think, however, that the reason you were upset wasn't just because of Harry. What's going on, Josh?" The boy deflated, nodding.

"My mom and dad have decided that I'm to stay with grandma." Hermione frowned, following her friend to his room. "It's not that I'm happy to have met you, but you go away from here to go to school. I don't know anyone here. I can't even see Bailey one last time! They don't know, and now I have to write a letter to let them know!"

"True, but you're a nice guy, Josh. I'm sure that you will make friends eventually."

The days seemed to fly by. Soon, July came and went, and Hermione found everything that Josh did to be adorable. Of course she never told him that. She knew the boy had a crush on her. However, she also knew that it wasn't fair to start something when she would be leaving soon enough.

Especially after last night's letter.

"So, what did you need to talk about, Hermione?" Josh asked once he caught his breath. He had likely ran to meet her at the park.

"I'm leaving tomorrow morning." The girl said bluntly, not wanting to beat around the bush. Her friend gave her a broken smile.

"Thanks for letting me know. It's been a fun summer."

"I am letting you know, so you'll know to give any letters to my mother if you wish to continue talking. I rather hoped that we could keep in contact." Hermione admitted, "and I didn't want to leave without letting you know. You're a good friend, and I really like you." Josh blushed brightly, and Hermione smiled. "You know, I think next year, you should let me introduce you to Harry. He's a great friend, and I think you need someone like him in your life."

"I'll think about it."

"Good, that's all I can ask." Hermione hugged Josh.
