It wasn't until late that night did Julieta walk out of the room.

She looked around and didn't see anyone up stairs, but there was a light on in the kitchen. When she finally walked in, she saw Felix sitting there half asleep. The sound of running water woke him up and he saw Julieta there washing her hands from any blood that remained after the birth. He shot up and walked over to her and gave her a look of concern only to receive a smile back.

"She's okay and sleeping. The baby is healthy as well. They are both fighters." His eyes widened and he smiled and wrapped her in a hug. "They're okay. Gracias Julieta. I don't know what we would've done without you."

Upstairs in Dolores' room, Pepa was pacing around softly with a rainbow over her head as she rocked the little bundle of blankets in her arms. She whispered sweet nothings to the baby and kissed it's forehead.

She paused her movement when she heard the sheets shift from where her daughter now laid awake after being asleep for 6 hours. She smiled at Dolores as she looked up at her. "Mama?" she sat softly on the bed so as not to make any sudden movement that could cause her daughter any pain.

"Hola, mi paloma. You did such a good job. He came out with 10 fingers and 10 toes. Perfectly... Do you want to hold him?" Dolores' eyes widened as she stared at the bundle in her mothers arms.

Pepa said he, The baby was a boy. She looked back up at her mother as she sat up slowly and nodded her head.

Pepa placed the baby in her arms and helped her hold him correctly before stepping away and giving them a moment to bond. "Remember to support his head." Dolores nodded her head at her mother before looking down at the tiny boy in her arms. Her eyes began to tear up as she got a full look of him. He had her skin tone, a full head of black curly hair, and dilated brown eyes. "Wow..."

Dolores placed a finger in her baby's hand and he grabbed onto it causing her to smile at him. She knew it was just a reflex but it still amazed her. "Hi there. It's nice to finally meet you. Though I did picture you to be a bit bigger, but mama is right, you really are small."

The baby gave her a barely there smile and her eyes widened as she looked over to her mother and whispered. "He smiled at me." Pepa chuckled. "He knows the sound of your voice, Lola..."

All of a sudden the door opened and her father walked in. When his eyes caught the tiny head of curly locs he smiled and looked over to his wife who was still looking at the pair on the bed.

"What do you want to name him, mi hija ?" Dolores looked up to both of her parents and glanced at the baby in her arms "I can name him?" Pepa nodded her head as Felix wrapped an arm around her waist.

"He is your child, Dolores. You should name your own son." she looked back down to be stared at by big round eyes and she stared back at them. She stroked her hand over his hair and down his cheek. "Antonio. His name is Antonio."

She looked back up to her parents and they smiled at her and Felix walked over to get a look at his grandson. "That is a wonderful name, princesa. Hola principito , look at all that hair."

Dolores handed the boy over to her father and he rocked him as he paced like his wife did. As she looked at them cooing over Antonio, her smile started to fade. Why did it hurt all of a sudden? She did what she planned, and now it was time to give the baby boy to her parents.

Dolores sighed before putting on a brave face and looking at her parents. "I don't want him to know who I really am. I agreed I will watch over him, but he can't know that I'm his mother, please." They looked over to their daughter and gave her a nod. "You have our word, mi hija."

The first few months, Antonio had stayed in Dolores' room with her. Pepa had said that even though they agreed not to tell the boy, he still needed to bond with her. So instead of placing him in the nursery, they set up a little crib for him to lay in, next to her bed and she would hold him whenever he became too fussy.

She showed Dolores how to change him, as well as how to breastfeed him. It hurt at first but then it became easier and ended up being something that Dolores liked to do with him. He would be fed as well as get the physical contact he needed, and Dolores would have the time to bond with him through it.

When he took naps, she would be asleep as well, learning from the pregnancy that she wouldn't be able to sleep if he was up, and when he did sleep she always made sure that he slept on his back. During the day if she wasn't reading or speaking to him she would play little games that made him laugh or hummed an all too familiar song from her past to stop him from crying.

When 3 months came around he had to be put into the nursery with Mirabel. Abuela had questioned why he wasn't there when her mother found some way to tell her she had another child. Dolores had to pretend like it didn't hurt that he wasn't in the room anymore, but it was what she agreed to, she was seen as his older sister now.

When she finally left the confines of her room the kids kept asking if she was okay and asked what was wrong. She lied and said she was just really sick which is why she was gone for almost a whole year.

The way they reacted to Antonio wasn't too bad. Mirabel was happy that she had someone to share the room with, even if he was just a baby. She made little stuffed toys for him with the help of her papa.

Camilo kept staring at him to which Antonio would stare back. He transformed one time in front of him and he screamed until his tiny little lungs couldn't scream anymore. Dolores made Camilo promise not to shift in front of him until he was 2 because that was not something she wanted to ever hear again.

Isabela held him one time and made a mental note on how alike he looked to Dolores. But before she could get comfortable with him in her arms he spit up all over her and the others laughed when she slowly gave him to Dolores and went to change. Luisa was scared she would hurt him if she ever picked him up so she resorted to making silly faces at him to make him laugh. Augustin would get his time with Antonio whenever he was with Mirabel or Julieta.

More often than not, her parents would hold him and talk with him as they rocked him back and forth just letting him see them and hear their voices. One time Pepa was taking care of him and gushed about how absolutely adorable he was, a rainbow formed over her head and he stared at it with a toothless smile.

If her parents didn't have Antonio and no one was playing with him, Dolores would be the one to care for him. Abuela thought it was weird but her mother, having enough of her Abuela being so judgmental, lashed out saying that the boy was her son and if she wanted to teach Dolores how to be more responsible by looking after him then she would.

Abuela was always with someone else when she was around the boy. She rarely picked him up, Pepa being the one to supervise her. She felt like there wasn't a good enough reason for her mother to be around her grandson. She always told him that he was a special boy and he would do great things for the family.

Whenever Julieta had her nephew she would sit with him and watch how he reacted to the world around him or Augustin would play with him. Usually she would just bring him to Dolores and help her breastfeed Antonio. If they couldn't find a way to get one on one time she would feed him a bottle so that Dolores wouldn't worry about him not being fed.

Dolores tried her best to look after the boy when her chores were done. She would sit with him in the living room and read to him, or play games like she did when they were in her room. The only times they would be in her room was if he was being fussy and needed to be fed. Even though she agreed to take care of him, she didn't realize how much the boy would look like his biological father.

Sure, Antonio had Dolores skin tone and her nose but he had Alejandro's ears and his curly hair as well as his reddish brown eyes. She would try her hardest not to cry whenever she just stared at him.

As time went on and Antonio grew up, Dolores would grow up a little with him. His birthdays came and went in practically a flash. He had started crawling when he was about 7 months and walking 4 months after his first birthday.

He was in the room with Dolores practically trying to climb on everything, earning the nickname "little monkey", from Felix. Dolores put him in his little red pants and sat him on the other side of her room away from the dresser.. he didn't take kindly to being sat down so he grabbed at the comforter hanging on her bed and stood himself up.. he took a step with his hand clutching the blanket trying to get to Dolores and her eyes widened when she saw him moving around.

She moved to sit in front of the dresser and held her hands out and made grabby hands, as a sign that she wanted him to come to her. "Come on Tonito, come here." Antonio looked at her and smiled as he let go of the blanket and took 4 wobbly steps before Dolores scooped him up in her arms and smothered his face in kisses making him giggle.

"Si, muy bien, principito!" She gasped, making him look at her and she smiled. "We need to go show mama. Let's go find her." When they did show Pepa she was in tears and a rain cloud filled the entire room drenching them.

His first word was said when he was just shy of a year old. Pepa was watching over him and gave him some toys to play with while they were in the living room. Dolores had started to put his hair in a little ponytail so it stayed out his face and it would be out of his reach to pull.

He was babbling like he always did when he played with his toys. Camilo had walked in, looking for Mirabel to build a tower with him. When Antonio heard his voice he turned his head and smiled. "Amio."

They hadn't paid much attention to it cause he has been saying it randomly for the past few days. Pepa said she didn't see her and Camilo was off to look elsewhere. Antonio repeated his phrase as he left and Pepa looked down at him and smiled.

The second time it happened he was with Dolores outside. She sat him in the grass and watched as he played with it for a while. Before long his distraction was detoured as a person walked up behind Dolores. She already knew it was Camilo cause she could hear him looking for her. Antonio waved his hands around and shouted, "Amio!"

Dolores winced when he yelled and placed a hand on her lips when she called out to him "Tonito, quietly. Remember, shh." Antonio was barely paying attention but covered his mouth like Dolores showed him multiple times, and stayed quiet. Dolores smiled before she winced at the sound of her brother's voice. "Dolores!" She huffed and turned her attention to the 11 year old after she picked up Antonio off the ground.

"Camilo, my ears." He paused and apologized then went to explain that he was looking for Luisa. Dolores told him she was rerouting the river and Camilo was on his merry way to find her with a thank you thrown back to his sister.

She sighed and looked at the boy in her arms and saw he still had his hands covering his mouth. She smiled and kissed his cheek as a thank you for being quiet before walking back in casita. She didn't notice that his eyes stayed on the figure of the retreating boy behind them.

The third was at breakfast a week after that. His teeth had been growing in so Dolores fed him soft foods to help with his teething pain. Everyone was sitting at the table outside, Camilo decided to go for seconds and when he came back the baby boy locked eyes on him.

"Amio, Amio" Dolores stared at him then looked at her mother who stared back. Then he started pointing in the direction of his "big brother" and said it again. "Amio!" Dolores eyes widened as she finally figured it out. "Camilo."

The shape shifter looked up from his plate and turned his head towards his sister "Yea?" Antonio said the word again and Dolores took him out of his high chair with a smile. "That's what you've been saying all this time isn't it ,Toni, say it again?"

The rest of the table sat in silence as their eyes widened. Antonio looked at Dolores before moving to get closer to her brother. "Amio" Camilo's eyes widened and he dropped an arepa. "Me?" Dolores moved Antonio and gave him to the boy in question once he was in Camilo's arms he turned and sat on his lap and hit his legs gently. "Amio."

Camilo smiled at the boy in his lap and grabbed an arepa before stuffing it in his mouth. Felix chuckled and shook his hand against the baby's hair. "Camilo was Antonio's first word."

The whole table laughed as Antonio grabbed an arepa off Camilo's Plate and tried to eat it whole.

A few weeks after that, while Dolores was watching over the small boy, he had said mama to her and she had to fight away tears as her heart broke. She quickly picked him up after he repeated the word.

She took him to Pepa and turned him to look at her mother with a "That's mama." and handed Antonio to her. Pepa had looked at her daughter with shock and confusion before the look became remorseful when he repeated the word that offended Dolores as she walked away.

She wasn't seen out of her room a week after that. She knew if she did someone would've asked why her eyes were so red.
