Chapter 20 - Epilogue
Bakugou was sitting in his apartment, thinking about the conversation he had with Kirishima the other when they were taking a detour after school. His leg was bouncing vigorously as he kept replaying it over and over again in his head.
"To think you're not even dating yet," Kirishima said in-between bites of eating his popsicle. "You've had several chances now, the few visits at the hospital before she got emitted, your continued training sessions, not to think of your new excuse to hang out - studying together."
"I … Shut it, Shitty hair!" Bakugou yelled as he chomped the last bit of his own popsicle.
"Ah, so you chickened out?" Kirishima nudged, with a big grin on his face.
"I didn't chicken out!" Bakugou punched Kirishima's shoulder.
"Then what? The misunderstandings have already been resolved, and if you ask me, it's pretty obvi-"
"Aaahh! Mind your own damn business! I haven't chickened out! And it's none of your damn business when I will ask her out!" Bakugou sent an explosion off in his hands in frustration as he was fighting the growing blush on his cheeks. Truth be told, he had tried to ask Uraraka out several times already, but at the very last minute they would either get interrupted by a third party, or he would lose his nerve when he looked into her brown eyes, forgetting that words existed.
"Alrighty then, I'll leave it up to you," Kirishima chuckled with that bright smile of his as they continued their walk in silence.
"Aaaaahh! For the love of-!" Bakugou got up from his couch in frustration as he stomped over to his desk, searching and rummaging through his drawer until he found what he was searching for; sticky notes. He went to the window he knew she had been looking at when he had done his pull-ups in the evening - a cheeky smile on his lips proudly crept up on his lips as he thought of her blushing face when he confronted her about it. With the smile still sticking on his face, he took the sticky notes, and with them, he wrote "Ura?" on the window.
Sure, he could have texted or called her for the purpose, instead of using a dumb conversation method inspired by online trends, but he couldn't argue with the poetic meaning of it all.
All he had to do now was wait until she saw the message and reply back.
After a short period of time, Bakugou noticed Uraraka walk through her apartment and stop as she noticed something on his window. He saw how she hurried to look through her things and how flustered she seemed as she pulled out her own stack of sticky notes before she answered his message with a "yeah?"
Bakugou couldn't help himself but smile at her adorableness as he took down the previous message to write a new one; "wanna meet up?"
She quickly did the same and wrote, "Sure, now?"
Bakugou didn't bother to remove the previous message this time as he just wrote a big "Y" where he had room for it on his window. He saw Uraraka nod in affirmation and then she was gone from the window. Bakugou didn't hesitate as he walked out of his apartment as well, taking the stairs down, two at a time.
When he reached the door, he could already see Uraraka exiting her own building and he could feel butterflies flutter in his chest as they walked up to each other.
"Hey, so what's up?" she asked, looking a bit fidgety.
Bakugou took a deep breath as he gathered the courage he normally didn't need when standing in front of a villain.
"Do you wanna go on a date with me?" Bakugou was holding his hand by the back of his neck as he could feel his cheeks flare up.
"You … What?" Uraraka asked as her cheeks and ears started to colour.
"I like you, Cheeks, a lot. So I'm asking you out," Bakugou squared his shoulders and pushed out his chest to regain some of his confidence. Why didn't Kirishima tell him how difficult this would be?
Uraraka's eyes widened as she looked up at Bakugou who didn't budge even though his blushing was rivaling hers, "You mean you …" Uraraka trailed off as she had difficulty creating words at the moment.
Bakugou sighed, guess he needed to be much more direct than that, "yeah, I want to eventually become your boyfriend, but you have to give me a reply before I can do anything about it," he started to smile as he could see her smile bloom across her face.
Finally, it seemed like Uraraka had regained some control over her mind and body as her eyes looked more clear than before and she wrapped her hands around his, "that sounds great," she said with a beaming smile and Bakugou could hardly stop the chuckle in his chest.
As he heard some of the most wonderful words from the person, he loved, he felt like his body had become ten times lighter than before.
"Whoops, I'm sorry!" Uraraka shrieked with a laugh as they realized she had accidentally activated her quirk and she pulled Bakugou down to the ground again, releasing her quirk. "I gotta get that under more control."
"I can take it," Bakugou smirked and he instinctively leaned down to give her a small peck on those lips he had been dreaming about for months and he immediately opened his eyes and tore himself away, "shit, sorry! I wasn't supposed to jump on you like that."
And Uraraka smiled fondly at him, as she gently pulled him back down by his neck, letting gravity float them up, as her lips locked back onto his and Bakugou didn't hesitate to kiss her back.
To think it all started with a window.
- The End -
A/N: Phew! To think that was it, it certainly took a long time. And for that, I would like to thank you guys for reading this one. Especially you guys who've been here from the start (you know who you are).
PS.: I wanted to add, that this will most likely be the last fic I'll be posting on here. Since I've been migrating to AO3 - and prefer the site. So if anyone is curious, I go by CreativeMumble on AO3, where I will continue to write from there.
