Part Two awaits you!
Philinda4EVA: Thank you for the Review! I often think the children of Miss Cackles would look like HB as a Cyborg, or Alian. When really she's just had an awkward life, and dosent know how to express things fully. Mildreds starting to realise that with every chapter!
Speaking of Chapters, I hope you like this one!
Chapter Eight: Missing Mildred - Part Two
Hecate left the Hall after Dinner, briefly glancing back at Mildred, sat chatting with her friends. Knowing that she would be perfectly fine for the next hour and a half, She transferred to her Room, Using the end of Dinner to finish her Marking, and then going to her detention.
Forty Minutes in, a knock was heard. "Come in." She commanded. But was taken by surprise at seeing Enid and Maud walk in. "Maud Spellbody. Enid Nightshade. What seems to be the problem?"
Enid hung back, allowing Maud to take the lead. "We just wanted to drop the homework from Miss Bat off with Mildred."
Enid Chimed in simply to say "She said she'd be here.. " She seemed unhappy by the fact.
Miss Hardbroom looked to her class of detention "Count yourself lucky. You're dismissed." Her eyes looked at Maud and Enid, pure anger bubbling in her blood. She didn't like being lied to, she didn't like being deceived. if Maud and Enid hadn't tried to be such good friends. She never would have known.
And that didn't sit right with her. Not one bit.
She brought her hand up in her normal eccentric way. A Little bit extra, but it made a statement. She transferred straight into her apartment, first checking Mildreds room, only to find it empty. She grabbed one of mildreds School books by her side and went back to her sitting area.
She places the book down before placing her hands over it. "With this Book that was Assigned, I look to find, Show me where she is, In the mind!" An Image of Mildred crying by Indigo's Statue appeared in her thoughts.
With a gasp that boarded on a growl, she transferred herself to that dreadful spot. "This!" She yelled out, Making Poor Mildred Jump, turned around, and fall onto her ass. Her sadness being replaced by pure fear. "Is not doing Homework!"
"M-Miss Hardbroom- '' Mildred started, before being cut off by Hetace.
"How -Dare- You lie to me! It's Deceit that got us into this problem in the first place!" Us. That was the real key word here. And as she said it, she pointed, Not at Mildred, But at Indigo.
"I just wanted a walk!" Mildred tried to reason.
"I don't care if you were meeting up with the Great Wizard! You Do not lie to me, you wretched girl!" She bent down to hiss it into Mildreds face. Mildred had lied to Hecate many times before. But given the current situation, it was plain stupid. Not to mention foolish. And completely dangerous.
The fact that Mildred lied, shows that she knew that. She knew it wasn't an ideal time, or place to be wandering off to on her own.
Hecate had said it before, and she'd say it again, Mildred was Reckless. Today just further proved it. And as much as Hecate had wanted to Distance herself, and allow Mildred time. That just wouldn't do. For both their sakes, she'd have to keep an extra eye on the child. Something that would no doubt frustrated them both to no end.
Mildred looked as if she was searching for something intelligent to say. But instead just squeaked out "I'm sorry.." Tears started to pour out of her eyes once more, her body shaking slightly from fear, her eyes screaming with guilt, pain and just pure sadness.
Hecate couldn't help but feel a small stab in her heart. It doesn't matter who it is, she always takes things too far. She's always been too mean.
"It's okay, Millie." A Voice spoke from beside them. Prompting them both to whip round, and find Juile Hubble. Looking like a Dalmation with Stone spots. "I forgive you."
Mildred slowly stood up, as Hecate came to stand in front of the young girl, Blocking her from Julie.
"That's quite enough Miss Hubble" Hecate spoke to the woman, making sure to say Mizz, and pronouncing every letter in hubble. It was petty of Hecate, but she knew Juile hated it. And at this point, she would take any win against her, Even if it wasn't wise.
"Now now, Hardbroom. You know perfectly well, i'm not here to talk to you" Miss Hubble spoke as if she was speaking to a child. There was one problem however, Miss Hardbroom was not a child.
Meanwhile, Mildred stood behind Miss Hardbroom, Petrified. Hecate looked behind her to look at Mildred, her eyes quickly signalling to the castle. Mildred seemed to get the queue before legging it in that direction.
"MILDRED!" Julie screamed out before getting thrown backwards by Miss Hardbroom. But as fast as she went down, she was back up. "Now.. That wasn't very nice." She said, as the floor started to shake, moving under their feet.
"Miss Hubble, i really must employ you to use your brain for once" Even when trying to reason, she struggles not to throw in a jab here and there. Pipps thought it charming. Julie however, didn't.
The Ground crumbled, Forcing Hecate to move backwards. Unfortunately, she was a little slow, before the ground moved up, throwing the witch onto her backside. Hecate knew, as great a witch she might be, she wouldn't win this fight. She just needed to buy some time, and retain enough energy to get back to cackles.
Hecate got up from the floor, now a good distance between the pair. She holds her hands out, "Make this a Sharp spike, one of Lightning strike!" Out of her finger tips, blue lightning strikes into Julie, she stumbles back in pain.
But she was quick to retaliate, "What was it you said last time we met? Oh.. yes.." She Pushed her hands out and yelled. "For this attack, Throw her back!"
Hecate was launched backwards into a nearby tree. She gasped as pain ran up her back, before she fell onto the floor. Her focus was on her back, but even she could feel the lump growing on the back of her head. Tree 1, Hecate 0.
She had to send Julie away, Mildred would be at Cackles by now, if not right on its door steps. She held out her hands, making circle motions with it, watching as Julie began to walk towards her. "I must try to make you go high, thanks to this tornado you will fly!" A Small Tornado formed in the potion mistress's hand, As she sent it forward, it captured Julie.
Spinning the woman round, and round, growing in size and fierceness. It Swooped Julie Hubble up, and into the sky, screaming and yelling as it did.
Hecate, transported herself out, and to miss Cackled office, Where she materialised, still sat on the floor, dirt all over the bottom of her dress, and bits of bark and leaves on her back. Not to mention the small bit of blood on the back of her head.
"Hecate!" Ada yelled out, She was clearly in the middle of talking with a distressed Mildred. Ada leaned down to help Hecate up.
"Im fine, Ada" Another thing Hecate hated was showing Weakness.
"Hecate.." Miss Cackle spoke in a hushed voice. "You're bleeding. Go, Get yourself seen too. I will find out what happened from Mildred, and I'll walk her back after a nice cup of tea".
Hecate saw no point in arguing. Instead she simply nodded, throwing a quick glance to Mildred. She was still mad at being lied to. But, she was grateful she had shown up when she did. Who knows what Miss Hubble would have done to her.
Hecate went back to her apartment, Hoping by the time she'd cleaned up, She'd thought of a way to properly deal with Mildred.
