Surprise everyone! It's your boy Gunslinger again. And here is the official sequel to my previous story: 'Marcy and the Black Knight'. I know a lot of you people who have been following my previous story have been waiting so long for this, and I just wanna apologize for the inconveniences. I was actually meant to post this story a few weeks ago, but I went through a rough time in my personal life and I almost lost my inspiration to keep writing this story. But now I'm back and better than ever. Ready to continue the next act of this ongoing series. And perhaps go even further. Now before we go any further I just want to say a few things regarding the story itself. Firstly, this sequel I plan on taking a different approach compared to the original. Going more into depth with the characters as much as possible. Secondly, there may be few characters that are not related to both fandoms, but that doesn't really change anything related to the story. And lastly, I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING! How to train your dragon belongs to Dreamworks and Amphibia belongs to Disney. The only exceptions will be the OC characters (Which will be introduced in the near future). Anyway, I hope ya'll enjoy it in the end. I wouldn't be doing this if you didn't it. As always, please comment in the review section if you have any questions, concerns, or just anything in general. I always love feedback. And if anybody has any ideas that they would want for this story, feel free to leave it in the comments section or PM me personally. Anyway, enjoy the first chapter guys!
"We do not fight because the world makes us fight. We fight for a greater purpose. We forge into the unknown, to fulfill the promise we made. No matter the darkness, nothing will stand in our way."
-Kratos, God of War (2018).
Somewhere in the United States, Earth
It was a rather cold evening in the small town of North Branch, Minnesota. The evergreen tree branches rustled slightly in the breeze, the birds sang while they went about their morning routines, and the various woodland critters hopped simultaneously in the seemingly dry but colorful leaves that were scattered in the forest floor. Autumn was coming to an end. Which meant that winter was not far behind.
Though what was so special about this town was not the town itself, but what was part of it on the town's outskirts. From which stood a small home on the side of the road. The area surrounding the house was filled with a fair amount of different trees, making the house very unique. To the right of it, there was a small statue of a bear, which held a sign that read, "Olsen" in the center of it.
The house itself was roughly a one-story building with a light blue color covering the its outside appearance. With the only exception being the left bottom part of the house being covered with stone slabs. At the center of the house, there was a white entrance door, with a white garage door to the left of it. In between it was a window that separated the two. The roof was dark gray, with a small amount of early snow covering on top of it. At the edge of the roof laid a chimney, where smoke slowly started to rise.
On one side of the left side of the house was two windows. Indicating that there were two separate rooms in this one-story house. One of the rooms was apparently cracked open, revealing a small bedroom that had everything from a small fish tank to a desk with a computer on top of it. And inside it was a 13 year old teenage girl, whom sat in a gaming chair, peacefully reading a coding book while munching on an onion.
Her current look resembled that of a typical school girl. She had very pale skin and a thin build, which gave her a frail physique. She had short red hair, from which was tied in a ponytail using a green scrunchie. She appeared to have some hair combed over her forehead and above her eyebrows, revealing a pair of bangs. She wore a pair of glasses that seemed to have a small bridge that separated both lenses.
She also wore a red and brown jacket, topped with a pair of navy blue jeans and gray boots. She went by the name Tulip Olsen. Which came from an incident upon her birth, where she miraculously bounced back like a 'perennial flower'. Though make no mistake. Despite the name, her story goes far beyond what anyone could comprehend. And she knew it.
It's been seven months since her little adventure on the Infinity Train. And in such a time she had already learned so much in those seven months. Sure, there may have been few times where she had to make some very difficult choices, but in the end, the most important thing that she learned was to let go of the past and be ready for what comes next. Especially for today. Because today was the day that her father would take her to a Game Design Camp in Osh Kosh. One of the many places she is most passionate about.
Yet he seemed to be a little late than usual. Which ultimately resulted to her finding something to do to pass the time. That was, until she heard a voice sounding off from outside her room.
"Tulip!" her mom called from downstairs. "Your dad is here to pick you up for camp!"
"Coming!" she acknowledged.
By then she placed the coding book on top of the desk before rushing downstairs. Once she reached the bottom, she spotted both of her parents in the dining room. Two of whom were expecting her.
"Hey, Dad," she greeted warming.
Embracing her parental figure with a hug.
"Hey, you," he replied with his own embrace.
They held for a few seconds before finally letting go. Afterwards, she kissed her mother goodbye before heading towards the door with her what Tulip could remember, her parents had gotten divorced even before her time on the infinity train. Before that, it was the architect of her misery. But her time on that train had taught her that even though it was a bad experience, it did not mean that it was the end of her world. Especially since she learned to adapt to the changes that she had went through.
And she was groomed to accepting that no matter what happened, no matter how hard it would be to accept this particular change, she would still love her parents till the end. And equally, so did they.
"Have a great time," her mother said. "Call me when you get settled in?"
"I will."
"I'll get her there safe," her dad reassured.
Knowing this the mother smiled. They may have been divorced for some time, but that did not mean that she did not trust him with their daughter's life. And even though they are officially separated, the bond that they shared was eternal. One of which will never be broken. At least for their kid's sake.
After exchanging goodbyes, both father and daughter went towards the door that led outside. Along the way, Tulip grabbed her brown backpack that was sitting on a countering near the door before initially going outside. From there they got inside her dad's pickup truck. Putting on their seat belts as they prepared to take off.
"So, bud," the dad spoke. "You ready"
Tulip did not speak at first. Looking out the car window and taking a moment to take on what the future has to offer her.
"I'm ready for anything," she finally acknowledged.
And with that, her father finally started the engine to his truck. Before briefly departing their house and making their way to Osh Kosh. Regrettably, the journey was pretty long. But it was totally worth it for them. During the ride they spent most of their time listening to Tulip's favorite song "Word Up" while reflecting on every good aspect of Tulip's childhood. Though at the same time, Tulip also took the time to reflect on everything that has happened recently. More specifically back on the Infinity Train.
She thought about her old friends Atticus and One-One. Wondering what they were up to back on that train. She also thought about Amelia, and if she would actually change and move on. Though there was a good chance of that. Seeing how broken she was when she and One-One defeated her and reclaimed the engine. She just hoped that it would be the case. For her sake.
Another hour past and they were nearly halfway to the camp. Everything went out smoothly when the area around them suddenly started to shift. The clouds started to darken, black as night, and the wind accelerated at a rapid place. The sounds of thunder rang in the air, and bolts of lightning could be seen from above. Casting a ghostly glow upon the parent and kid. Which left them slightly startled and somewhat confused.
"That's some pretty strange weather," her father commented. "Huh, bud?"
"Yeah," Tulip replied. "It wasn't like this when I checked the news this morning.
Yet in spite of that, her dad merely shrugged it off. Seeing it as something that would be temporary.
"Must be a little windy," he said. "Should probably let up by the time we reach Osh Kosh."
Though despite her father's reassurance, Tulip started to have a bad feeling about this. When she checked the news the morning before she saw that it was going to be clear skies today, with little to no chance of rain. So to see it now made her pretty nervous. And even then the area around them seemed to be off. Something was wrong. Very wrong indeed. She could feel it. And so did her father. Yet in a attempt to ease her tensions, her dad attempted to start up a conversation with her. An easy distraction
"So, what do think you'll do when we reach-"
"DAD, LOOK OUT!"
Then all of a sudden, a large thunderbolt struck the road that was ahead of them. Nearly hitting the truck by inches and causing an explosion that would send the two of them flying. The truck got up to a few feet before crashing down. Tumbling for a few feet before coming to a screeching halt. The impact made Tulip hit her head on the seat in front of her. Which caused her to hit her head and temporarily pass out due to the collision.
By the time she regained consciousness, she found herself trapped into the car. Shrouds of glass nearly covered every inch of her skin as she started bleeding from small wounds. As she attempted to take her seat belt off, she let out a screech in pain. Looking to her arm and seeing a huge glass pierced within it. She carefully took the piece out, letting another scream before reaching to take her seat belt off.
Upon hearing the screams of his daughter, her father opened the door to his side and rushed to the back to check on Tulip.
"Tulip," he called. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Tulip answered, even though it wasn't true.
"Okay, hold on bud," her father assured as he started pulling against the door. "I'm gonna get you outta there."
Then with all his strength, he pulled against the handle. Succeeding in opening the door and carefully dragging his daughter out of the broken truck. Afterwards, he sat her down on the side of the road and took that opportunity to examine her wounds. Sure, he was bleeding too, but that was the least of his concern. Instead, he directed his attention on making sure his daughter was okay. As any father would do.
"Hold on Tulip," he said. "I'm calling an ambulance. They should be her in a-"
Then suddenly, an air ripping screech sounded off. And the very fabric of reality was torn apart in front of them. And out of the mist, a purple vortex, from which led into the unknown appeared before both father and daughter. Tulip let out a cry of shock as she felt herself being pulled right towards it. Her father quickly grabbed a hold onto her hands. Using all his strength to keep her from going in.
"Dad!" she called desperately. Her voice filled with terror. "Help me!"
"I got you bud," he said, still clinging onto her hands with his own. "Just hold on!"
For the young teenager, it felt like she was aboard a roller coaster. Feeling the wind in her face as she was slowly being dragged against her will. Her father continued to hold onto her as long as he could. Yet despite his efforts, he began to slowly lose his grip on his daughter. And in the next moment, her hands finally slipped from his fingers. The girl screamed in silent pain as she finally felt herself being sucked into the portal. The last thing she heard was the sounds of her father calling her name before she disappeared before his very eyes.
The magic of the portal consumed her body, making her feel like she was being ripped apart from the inside, only to be reassembled like a set of lego pieces. She struggled against it for as long as she could, but inevitably she would succumb to its influence as her body and mind were finally devoured by its energy. With the last thing she remembered hearing was the sound of her father's voice, as well as the apparent sound of a lion roaring, before yielding to the darkness.
Elsewhere
The dawn of early morning was a sight to behold. The sun rose into the sky and shined brightly over the large, beautiful island nearly eighty miles away from the mainland that was to be Amphibia. The evergreen tree branches rustled slightly in the breeze, the birds sang while they went about their morning routines, and the various woodland critters hopped simultaneously in the seemingly permanent layer of snow that covered the forest floor. Winter had just come, and that meant a good chance for snow.
And because of the added brightness, it seemed to make the island much more beautiful than it already was. Either than that, the island was no different than any island many would see. Except for the fact that it was much larger than a regular island. And there was much more fauna than anyone could ever anticipate.
But what also made the island so special was a unique building in the center of it. From a distance it would be seen as a small treehouse. But up close, it was much bigger than that. The overall structure was mostly made up of wood. With many contraptions covering the exterior parts of a windmill right on top of the structure. On the side of it, was a small window that overlooked the beautiful pond just underneath the structure. As well as the amazing ocean not too far from it.
Inside the window was a small bedroom. And unlike the exterior of the tree house, the interior design was much more modern. The walls of the room were made up of cement and had many kinds of decorations. Many included various maps and drawings that have not been colored in. The floor was made of solid tiles. With a large rug in the center that had a symbol of a dragon a the center of it. Two feet to the right of it was a large rock slab. Which was located at the other side of the top of the slab were a few burnt marks and it was big enough to fit an adult grizzly bear. And on top of the room was a large fan. With a light switch inside of it.
Underneath the window was a small night stand with a drawer inside of it. On top of it were three pots. In those pots were a few unique plants. Plants that were merely few of the rarest plants in Amphibia. And right next to it a traditional canopy bed. With blue ribbons covering each of the four posters on top of it. In the bed was a little girl at the age of 13. Who went by the name of Marcy Wu.
She was known for her geeky, yet resourceful personality. Being one to always show her willingness to learn new things and doing tons of research. In another world, she was said to be above the normal intelligence of the average human. She also was known to be very clumsy at times. Having a record for falling down many flights of stairs when she first warped into this desolate world. But that didn't really matter now. Considering that she was now asleep. She had passed out after reading several different books and looking at various things on her iphone for many hours.
The books were scattered across the floor underneath her bed. And it turns out that she had been snoring throughout the night without even bothering to put them away. However, it was at that moment, when the sun had risen and shined through the window did the door that was across from her bed started to crank open without her knowledge.
Shortly after that, a shadow blacker than any passing cloud swept over the room. And with that shadow emerge a giant black beast. It's eyes glowed with green and black. With cat-like pupils as they locked onto the slumbering girl. Then as quiet as a mouse, the creature began to creep closer and closer to the girl. Inching closer to her at a very calm pace, like a lion stalking its prey.
By the time it reached the side of her bed the creature reared up on its hind legs. Extending its claws out in preparation to strike her down at despite the tension in the room, it didn't exactly turn out that way. Instead the young girl was met, with the apparent sound of an air horn going off.
And it was at that moment, did the teenager let out an alarmed scream as she jumped up in utter shock by the sudden move. Marcy then gasped fro breath, with her eyes wide awake and her heart rate increased at a rapid pace. She looked around for whatever may have blown the horn before she spotted the creature. Who had the horn in its mouth with an innocent smile on its face. Afterwards the girl let out a groan before lightly hitting the creature in the face with a pillow.
"Toothless," she whined. "Don't scare me like that!"
She then slumped down onto the bed and got back in the covers. As if she was asking for five more minutes. The creature in response set the horn down on top of the night stand before he started nudging the side of her body with his head. Though it did not seem to get a response from her. Yet the beast remained persistent and went as far as to lick the side of her face. Which earned a laugh from the teen female.
"Okay, okay," she giggled. "I'm up."
Afterwards the Night Fury let out an excited warble before turning heel and bounded towards the door. Exiting the room briefly. Once he was out the sight Marcy glanced at the door and smiled. It has been a month since she met the dragon that was named Toothless. A month since he came to her rescue and the two of them slipped out of the fingers of the evil King Andrias. And it has been a month since they have dedicated their lives into finding a way home.
She did not know very much about her fierce companion in the weeks that she spent hiding with him. But from what the Night Fury told her, where he originally came from, he was considered to be the most feared dragon back in his world. Not only was he able to defeat several different dragon leaders, but he was also the first of many dragons to achieve the rank of alpha at such a young age.
Making him the ruler of all his kind and the most respected dragon in his world. Extremely elusive and highly intelligent, he defends all he cares about with a ferocity unparalleled in the world of man. Such as he defended Marcy against King Andrias. Going so far as to destroy his means of expanding his evil empire and bringing ruin to his entire kingdom just to keep her safe. And has pledged his loyalty to her ever since.
Yet in the mist of their dedication, for a certain dynamic duo coated in black, they were certainly anywhere BUT on their way home. Yet that was a problem for another time. Cause to their luck they found a new, temporary home. One that they have used as a base of operations in their fight against the amphibian tyrant.
And it was well out of his reach. So there is no way that he could find them here. For now at the very least. Yet before she could think about any of that even further, the young girl let out a yawn as she sat up, running her hand across her face in an attempt to wipe the remnants of sleep away.
She then looked at her phone on the nightstand. Seeing a photo of her and her two other friends Sasha and Anne on the home screen. Whom she missed dearly. She also saw that the time was at least eight o'clock in the morning. A bit early if she could ask herself. Afterwards she got up from her bed and stretched her arms before doing her usual morning routine.
"Good morning Amphibia," she spoke in confidence. "Marcy Wu reporting for duty."
After that Marcy went to a mirror that appeared right next to the door. From there she looked at her own reflection and took a deep breath. Pushing out any insecurities that could ruin the mood and thought of nothing but positive thoughts. Once she was done with that she walked over to her dresser, which was to the right of the giant rock slab in the corner of the room. She then picked up a her hair brush and started to brush her hair.
By the time she was done with that she put on her pajamas and sauntered over to the door and went down the stairs that were to the left of the door to her bedroom. When she reached the bottom, she was greeted by her fierce companion Toothless. Whom unexpectedly wore a chef hat on top of his head, and was already in the kitchen preparing what she thought to be breakfast. Or at least that was her interpretation when she watched the Night Fury running all over the kitchen. Picking up various items which involved eggs, mushrooms, hash browns, and pieces of bacon.
During her observation she watched him turn on a record player that sat on the counter of the kitchen and played a song that he apparently liked for some time. He then opened up the fridge that was to the left of the kitchen and took out a carton of milk with his muzzle. He then took the carton over to the counter and poured the whole milk into what seemed to be a blender. Once it was empty, he tossed the carton away before he proceeded to chop the mushrooms with a kitchen knife.
At the same time he cracked a few eggs and put the yolk on a frying pan. Forgetting to remove the shells from the pan in the process. After that he bounded back over to the fridge. Picking up a cup of orange juice they had ready the night before and rushed over to Marcy. Briefly giving it to her before bounding back over to the kitchen.
He accidentally knocked over the blender, spilling the milk inside of it and making a mess. Yet Toothless seemed too focused to notice it and instead poured olive oil in the pan that had the chopped up mushrooms and eggs. Unintentionally starting a fire in the process. The Night Fury yelped as he attempted to put out the fire, but only made it worse than before.
He then ran around the kitchen once again, trying to multi-task to no avail. He looked around, startled by the many things he had to take care of before his eyes met with Marcy's. After a pause he gave her an innocent gummy smile. Hoping she wouldn't be mad at the only thing she did was giggle in amusement, blushing profusely as she watched Toothless run off in his unorthodox attempt at making breakfast.
She didn't know when Toothless came up with the idea of making breakfast, considering his intelligence as a dragon. Maybe it was a way of showing his appreciation, or it was just for the fun of it. But either way, she respected the fact that he was trying his vary best. And did not question it whatsoever. She then went over to a coffee table at the center of the main room and sat in one of the chairs. The sounds of crashing dishware and cookware giving out and various ingredients flying all over the place.
While she waited for Toothless to finish whatever chaotic meal he was preparing, Marcy looked through the stack of mail in front of her. Though it was covered with tooth marks. Courtesy of her fearless partner, whom no doubt brought it in from outside while she was asleep.
After going through it she looked at a newspaper which was headlined "Mysterious Creature Strikes Again!". She then flipped the page and read another headline that said, "Hero in Black Saves Lives!" After that the article went on and on about the recent actions caused by a certain pair of vigilantes.
Which turned out to be the two of them, being a pair of local do-gooders. It was almost flattering that the people of Amphibia are recognizing their actions and seeing them as good. After that she turned to a map of the whole planet that was underneath the stack of mail. Reviewing the many marks that covered key locations all over Amphibia.
In the few weeks that they have been in this world, they have been on a series of missions. Doing their best to keep the peace and combating King Andrias robots that have been terrorizing the many communities outside of Newtopia. In the time doing so they kept a lookout for certain keys that could help them locate the final temple. But have had no success with that so far. At the same time, they focused their attention on hitting the various factories producing the robots. Making it a top priority for them to eliminate the backbone of Andrias's army and weaken his influence all across Amphibia before even considering the thought of taking the fight to him. And who knows how long that's gonna take.
Suddenly, her thoughts were interrupted by a dinging sound, followed by the dramatic arrival of her dragon partner, whom had two plates stacked high with every breakfast food that he could think of. Which include a half-cooked omlet, burnt sausages, and soaked up pancakes and waffles to the side. All while Toothless warbled a little 'Ta-da', feeling proud at his accomplishments. However, despite the dragon's overjoyed satisfaction, Marcy couldn't help but cringe a bit just by looking at the food.
"Boy, you don't have to make me breakfast every morning," Marcy told her companion, doing her best to not offend him.
Yet the teenage girl's words fell on deaf ears as Toothless grabbed a bottle of ketchup and held it in front of her. Offering it to her pleasantly. But before Marcy could have time to react, the Night Fury accidentally crushed the entire bottle with his jaws and coated the side of Marcy's face in an explosion of red sauce. For a moment she sat there, decorated with what most would see as a gruesome blood spatter and was destined to face an unappetizing prospect of having to eat the breakfast her partner had enthusiastically prepared before. After a long pause, she looked at Toothless. Whom was still putting up an innocent smile.
They stared for a second before they both let out a series of long, hysterical laughs. Finding this whole thing very funny. And after a long minute of laughing about it, the two of them stopped and continued the rest of their day.
What followed shortly after that was twenty minutes of Marcy taking a shower and brushing her teeth while listening to Toothless do whatever it is that he usually does in the morning. Which probably involved him banging against the door to the bathroom if she took too long. After that she dressed herself into the same suit that she wore when she first awakened back in that desolate castle.
But with a few changes added to wires connecting the suit were cut loose. And the holes were covered up. Making it seem like she was wearing actual armor. The orange eye that was at the center was now replaced with a purple orb. With the symbol of a Night Fury at its center. With the outfit, she also had a black cloak covering her back. Giving her more of a unique design.
After getting fully dressed Marcy Wu opened up a chest in her room. From which contained what appeared to be all of her gadgets and weaponry. Along with other things that she may need for today. Those included her crossbow, a pair of retractable swords that she personally made for herself, a grappling hook, and a handbag for smaller items that they may find in the inevitable future.
Once she was geared up and ready to go, she went to the exit of the treehouse and opened to door. Being greeted by the sweet smell of fresh air while overlooking the beautiful view of the was going to be a good day. She felt it in her gut. Though before she could be given the time to savor the moment, Toothless came up from behind her and nudged her hip. The teenager looked back to see the Night Fury motioning her towards his back eagerly.
Marcy in return scratched the bottom of his chin before saddling the Night Fury up. Properly mounting him without the need of a saddle. Once she was fully adjusted, she looked towards the ocean. With so many new possibilities awaiting for the dynamic duo.
"You ready boy?" she asked, receiving a nod in response. She then turned back to the horizon, determined to explore the unknown once more. "Let's fly!"
POV: Insert Jake's First Flight by: James Horner.
After that, she gripped onto the sides of the Night Fury's neck. Bracing herself as Toothless lets out a roar before spreading his wings and leapt off the edge of the tree house, diving down into the wilderness bellow them. They were close to the treeline when the Night Fury decided to open his wings and pull up before flying out of the jungle and headed out into the open sea.
He flapped his wings hard and let out another roar that evidently scared away any the birds in the nearby vicinity, with Marcy comfortably anticipating her fierce friend's next moves as they flew gracefully above the ocean. Along the way the pass by a large water snake that was swimming through the sea minding its own business. Toothless rolled just underneath the water snake as it jumped up from above the water and back down before shooting up into the sky to cover more ground.
They soared up into the sky with great precision, with Toothless performing many stunts and tricks. Some of which he showed his human compadre personally. They flipped over upside down before the Night Fury dove down to the ocean floor. Halfway there he pulled up again before flying back up. Barrel rolling into the blue sky as Marcy felt for a moment that she could actually touch the edge to the world before Toothless fell backwards. Free falling for a moment before eventually pulling up yet again and spun into a nearby bank of clouds.
In light of the situation, a rush of energy invigorated the teen girl. Almost to the point where she can no longer contain her excitement. Of the many things she liked to do with her new friend, this was one of them. It reminded her of all the time she spent flying with her previous companion Joe Sparrow. Whom was a great bird and a loyal friend to her. But Toothless was a lot more different than Joe. He was smaller, faster, more precise in his movements and flight patterns.
Making her feel things that she could never had felt with Joe. Those feelings included the wind in her hair and the rushing of her body as she held onto the sides of her dragon it was a good thing too. Though she loved Joe with all her heart, nothing could ever beat being on the back of a dragon. A fast one in particular. And that fact alone sent a cool chill in her nerves. Prompting her to just let out whatever excitement she had in her that she could release before hand.
"Woo-hooo!" Marcy yelled across the air, spreading her hands out as she mimicked her dragon's wings.
By the time they came to the other side of the clouds, Toothless looped around yet again before leveling out and glided across the sky. Human and dragon alike noticed a flock of herons soaring just above them in their wake. Shortly after that the clouds began to disappear, and a great view of Amphibia could be seen in their line of sight just underneath them. By then Toothless let out a joyful groan, his voice echoing across the sky and beyond. They Night Fury had never felt so happy in his life.
Sure he missed flying with Hiccup, but flying with Marcy made him feel like he was ten years younger. Being the sole leader of the Hidden World over the years made him feel like he was getting old. Not only that, but there were also times where he felt like he was losing his edge. But with Marcy, he felt something totally different. Instead, it reminded him of all the times he had with the human viking, even though it wasn't exactly the same.
Either way he enjoyed being out in the sky, flying in a manner that no one could ever comprehend. And no doubt Marcy felt the exact same thing. He turned his head back slightly so that one of his eyes peeked at the human girl, who in return looked down at her ferocious companion. Their eyes were practically smiling at one another, seemingly telling each other how one truly felt about this. However, that moment was short lived when the sounds of people screaming were heard in the mist. Prompting Toothless to stop dead in his tracks and hover in the air.
They looked down and saw a village being raided on a beach next to the coastline. They dove down to get a closer look, stopping halfway above the village so that they don't get spotted. From that position Marcy took out a spyglass from her bag and looked through it to see what is happening. And before she knew it, she saw an army of frobots looting and burning said village, taking what looked to be frog residents as prisoners. She quickly counted them up until she reached the number fifty. With the biggest frobot being the commander of the bunch. It boiled her blood to see those innocent frogs' homes being destroyed for no reason.
This was the work of King Andrias. His cruelty to the frogs in Amphibia was unthinkable. Marcy knew this. And so did her friend Toothless. Though she did not understand why he is doing any of this, she was not going to stand around and do nothing while innocent frogs suffer.
"Hey boy, it looks like those people need some help," said the young girl, locking eyes with her friend once again. Pulling up the hood of her cloak in the process."What do you say we give them 'a hand'?"
The Night Fury in response gave her a grin. Now eager for some action. They dove down there with vicious intent. And while doing so, it seemed that the frobots were lining the prisoners up to be executed without pity nor mercy. They pulled parents from their children and forced said parents to watch their children be executed first. Their screams echoed as the the robot in command gave the order. Though before it could be done a shadow passed over them. What followed after that was a screeching sound in the air. As if the sound of light was about to break. They all looked up and saw that something was closing in on them. And only the frogs had a good idea of what it was.
"It's him!" one of the frog children called out. "It's him!"
Clueless to what was happening, the frobots turned to the shadow and prepared themselves to unleash a volley of blasts up into the air. Yet before that could be achieved, they were unfortunately met with a purple plasma blast. That landed right in the middle of their ranks and caused a massive explosion that sent many of the frobots flying. Many of the robots were set ablaze in a orange fire while others were forced back. But above all of them, the lead frobot was frustrated to see a small portion of his troops being incinerated with a single blast.
And what aggravated it even more was seeing the frog children run back to their parents. Taking advantage of the explosion and using it to reunite with their loved ones. An honest distraction to be exact. It ordered the other frobots to pursue the children when it noticed that whatever it was that was causing this interference was making a u-turn and was coming back. It watched as the interlopers flew alongside the coastline before coming into the direction of the civilians. Who still several yards away from the frobots, completely unguarded. It was then that the lead frobot rallied the remaining frobots to try to contain the prisoners.
But before they could be given a chance to do so the intruders flew towards the shore, with the intent to intercept them. And before they knew it, a giant blue flame spewed onto the gap that separated the frobots from the innocent frog civilians. The flame spread until it reached the edge of the woods. Making it impossible for the frobots to reach them. Outraged, the lead frobot pointed its right arm to the sky and started shooting red blasts at the interlopers.
Yet to its surprise, the attackers dodged the blasts, looping around and avoiding them with ease. It fired a few more times before the strikers turned back around and started flying towards them. Though to their surprise, the attackers did not look to strike them head on. Instead, they flew just above the ground yet out of firing range. They were close to the frobots when suddenly, a dark figure descended towards the ground. Making a heavy superhero landing just a few feet from the flames. From which Marcy paused for a second before revealing herself.
"Pick on someone your own size tin cans!" Marcy insulted.
The lead frobot paused for a moment before it started laughing hysterically. Taking her words as nothing more than a joke. But the frobot's laughter did not seem to get into the girls head. Instead, she grabbed the two small hits on the sides of her hips and unsheathed her retractable swords. The plasma blades glowed with a light purple color. Almost like a lightsaber but with blades being made of pure energy. Manufactured using blue prints from a design similar to King Andrias's own laser sword, but with a few upgrades.
Upon witnessing the girl draw her weapons, the lead frobot motioned to the other frobots. Ordering them to fan out and surround her. Seeing that they should make quick out of this one girl. After all, they did outnumber her three to one. And there was nothing that she could do to them that they shouldn't be scared of. Or at least that's what the lead one thought. But on the contrary. It's confidence suddenly dropped when another explosion sounded off.
And before it knew it, the shadow that once passed the scene came back. This time it was now headed straight for them. Halfway there, two more plasma blasts came from the shadow and hit the two flanks of the frobot army. Causing massive explosions to go off. They had fifty frobots. And now their numbers dropped down to thirty five. Yet before the lead frobot could be given time to process it, the shadow swooped down to the earth and landed right next to the girl. In which Toothless took the time to reveal himself as he bared his teeth. Snarling at the frobots with murderous intent.
Fear struck into the hearts of the frobots. But they refused to back down. Their programming preventing them from disobeying orders. King Andrias's orders to be exact. As for the dynamic duo, they stood calm. Readying themselves as the frobots prepared to make their stand. The sun was at its highest peak when the lead frobot pointed one of its arms at them. Ordering the other frobots to attack. And like a an actual flood, the frobots began their charge with the intent of crushing the two of them once and for all.
POV: Insert To Victory by Tyler Gates
Yet despite the order, both Night Fury and human girl remained surprisingly calm. They glanced at each other and gave each other light nods before turning back into the direction of the approaching frobots. Halfway there, Toothless took the opportunity to strike first. Charging at the endless horde and rammed right through the first wave of frobots. After penetrating their ranks, he jumped up and brought down two more frobots with his paws.
Crushing the top of their heads in the process. He then grabbed the nearest frobot corpse with his right paw and threw it to his left. Eventually knocking down five other frobots while simultaneously smacking a frobot from behind him.
One frobot attempted to severe his prosthetic tail to try to incapacitate him, but the Night Fury grabs it by the waist with his jaws before it could be done. He used his teeth to crunch down through the frobot's outer body before bringing it to the left. Eventually loosening his grip on the frobot to the point where his jaws were now locked onto the machine's leg before flinging it to his right towards more of the endless horde. Many of the frobots tried to get an opening on the Night Fury, but Toothless proved to be stronger than they thought.
Shorty after Toothless's charge, Marcy started up her attack run. She first slashed her energy sword across the neck of the first frobot. Disabling it in second. Then she spun around ans slashed another, catching it before it could strike. When two frobots charge her from the front, she ducked through the first frobot's swing attack and stabbed right through the other frobot underneath its waistline. Disabling its core in the process.
She then followed that up by swinging her energy blade across first frobot's face. Cutting it open and watching it shut down moments later. Afterwards she slashed at another coming frobot while countering anothers' attack with her other sword at the same time.
Throwing that particular frobot off balance before moving to the next. In which she blocked a frobot's strike with one sword before spinning around and cut that same frobot's throat with a single swing of her other sword. As she pushed onward, she swung her sword at another attacking frobot, but unfortunately missed when the robot dodged her attack. Yet the young girl was quick to improvise as she swung again and sliced the frobot's arm clean off.
Disoriented, the frobot could only watch as the nerdy teenager slashed its face with a single blow. Ending its entire existence. Then she moved to the next one. Dodging another strike before swinging her sword underneath the attacking frobot's leg. Cutting it off and causing it to fall to the ground. She would end it right there, but she wisely spins around and stabs yet another frobot that tried to ambush her from behind. After that she spun around yet again and struck down at the crippled frobot attempting to flee.
Getting a squeal out of it before being powered down. From that point on the girl took a minute to catch her breathe. She knew she shouldn't stop now during an attack, but even she admitted that fighting these things could be exhausting from time to time. Yet before she could get ahead of herself, she noticed another frobot charging directly at her. Only for it to be met with a plasma blast as Toothless sailed above the young girl and pounced directly on top of the frobot. Ripping its core out with his jaws shortly after that.
Shortly afterwards the Night Fury turned his head back to her, giving her a nod as he looked back to the remaining enemies. From there on the two of them went on a massive striking spree. Taking out the remaining frobots every way they could. With swords, teeth and claws, and occasional plasma blasts they made great work out of the killer machines. Even going as far as making combo kills. Some of which involved Marcy jumping over Toothless's back to strike a frobot in the head and the latter tossing a frobot in her way to be sliced in half.
After a few more strike, the King of Dragons decided to take it up a notch as his black glowed with a bright blue color. Next thing they knew, the frobots being burned to ash as Toothless unleashed his flame beam. Moping down whatever frobots entered his line of sight. Its brazing blue flame burned like a bondfire. Melting through even the toughest of metal. One by one the frobots fell before the might of the duo. Their persistence unwavering compared to their mechanical weaponry. Moments after that, it seemed that the battle came to a halt. Or at least that was until he spotted the lead frobot attempting to flee. Yet before that could be done, an arrow was pierce right at the back of its head. Courtesy of Marcy.
"Bullseye!" she said with a smirk.
Afterwards she unsheathed her swords and patted the side of Toothless's shoulder once he made his way towards her. Giving him a good work look as the Night Fury smiled at her. Following the destruction of the last frobot, the duet decided to check up on the civilians. Few of which were too busy hooting and hollering. Celebrating their saviors' victory over the killer machines as well as their newly earned freedom and liberation.
"Is everyone okay?" Marcy asked.
By then they were flourished with massive applause from the locals. With many of the civilians thanking them for freeing them and crushing the robots. In some strange way, the two of them gave these people hope. Or at least that's what Marcy interpreted.
"Thank you Master Marcy," one parent said. "How can we ever repay you?"
"No charge people," Marcy reassured. "Just doing our job."
By then the two of them watched as the frogs continued to cheer them on. Including Toothless, who was flattered by their praises. This was better than they both expected. Being the heroes that they were. Before she met Toothless Marcy was already well respected by the newts. But now, every in Amphibia seemed to jump for joy whenever her name came last six months have been the most interesting six months in her life. Her various dealings with King Andrias and his henchmen has spread from over corner of Amphibia. Reaching into the ears of every single person in this world. Save for a few towns such as Wartwood and Ribbitville.
But what was most interesting about her was Toothless. Whom has been given the most praise out of the two of them. His growing legend. Each race in Amphibia gave him many names. The frogs called him a savior. A vigilante that comes to the aid those who need it the most. Spreading hope to the unfortunate and inspiring many frogs in the outer communities to be better than what they were. Despite the fact that they had no trust in outsiders.
The toads referred to him as a warrior. A creature whose defiance in the face of even the toughest fighters was unimaginable. Inciting fear as well as high esteem into the souls of each toad. Heck, some thought of him as a real challenge. A worthy opponent to battle should he ever come out of the shadows. Though that would never be the case.
The newts named him demon. A monster that will prey on the greedy and punish the wicked. And his defiance against King Andrias became legend. Striking terror into their hearts and inspiring a great amount of hatred towards the Night Fury. For Andrias was so powerful that none could challenge him. Except for Toothless. And in their eyes, he was a good king. At least until the frobots started to show up. Yet that was not enough to sway them into seeing what type of monster Andrias was.
But despite the backlash, they still held a modicum of respect towards him. As well as Marcy herself. Her status within every corner of Newtopia still holds till this day. Rumors foretold that the demon kidnapped her and is now making her do things against her will. Others say that she willingly joined it on a campaign to overthrow King Andrias and take his throne by force. Yet they remained faithful to her till the end. Either way they all knew them both. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
For Toothless, they went as far as giving him a nickname. Something that they could call him by as they spread his story throughout all of Amphibia. In such stories, they called him 'The Nightwalker'. Referring to a creature who comes when people least expect it. Mostly at the cover of darkness. Punishing the wicked and liberating the innocent. Making him a monster among monsters, and a protector to all of which many in Amphibia love dear.
In a way it kinda reminded Marcy of a story her parents told her back home. A story about a vicious serial killer that rampaged throughout the area she and her friends lived in. Eventually he was brought to justice, but not before leaving a name for himself. Hopefully this would not be the case. The whole hero thing was to give people hope, not the other way around. That is why they do these things. Saving lives and all. Because that is what heroes do. For which they were.
After another moment of watching the celebration, Marcy figured it was time to continue with the rest of their day. They had a lot of ground to cover and they couldn't stop here. But it was good to be heroes every once and a while.
"Come on boy," she said to Toothless. "Let's keep going."
The Night Fury then eagerly lowered his body and allowed her to climb up on his back. Once she was fully adjusted she turned to the civilians, whom were still cheering them on. It was at that moment that Marcy decided to put on a little something for citizens be to remember them by. She tapped Toothless by the side of his neck and waved a figure hand motions to him. In hindsight of that, the Night Fury flapped his wings and hovered in the air. Firing two plasma blasts up into the sky, from which exploded after getting a few yards. Making it seem like fireworks were lighting up the sky. The crowd in response cheered. Their brazing applause reaching the ears of both human and dragon.
After that Toothless let out a roar before shooting up into the sky. Disappearing into a bank of clouds as they resumed their journey. However, despite their apparent victory, the duo was oblivious to the fact that they were being watched from a distance. And within the confines of the nearby forest, it would seem that one of the frobots survived the skirmish. The lead frobot to be exact. And by the time they were completely out of sight, it quickly turned back to the forest and raised up its arm. Bringing up a communicator from within that came in direct contact with its apparent master. Whom was currently elsewhere.
Meanwhile...
Back at the castle, King Andrias was unusually busy. Still shaken by his apparent defeat at the talons of the Night Fury a month ago, he had recently stopped all preparations in his plans to invade the multiverse and concentrated all his efforts into hunting the vermin and the human that accompanied it down. From his one remaining eye, he looked out from the window and saw his vast army of frobots mobilizing on a endless field. Both on the ground and in the air.
As he oversaw his growing forces, he reflected on everything that has happened within the last month. From Anne's apparent escape to Earth with the petty frog family that accompanied her, to the sudden interference of the creature that seemingly ruined his plans. As well as killing his former master and snatching Marcy from his fingertips. He has never forgotten that day. In fact, he thought about that moment every single second of every day since then. Shoot, he lost an eye on that day. Courtesy of little miss Marcy Wu.
But what made his blood boil even more was hearing stories related to such a creatures. Rumors slithering in the streets of Newtopia of a monster striking from the shadows. A hero seeking to topple his entire empire and liberate the people of Amphibia. And from the descriptions of the creature in the stories, he knew exactly what it was. And his entire body shivered just from hearing them. Even the nickname "Nightwalker" brought a chill up from his spine.
For the very mention of the name reminded him of the utter humiliation that he was forced to endure on that day. The day Marcy escaped his palace walls on the back of the beast. The day where his dreams of ruling the multiverse were shattered by a flying lizard. The day where he was robbed of everything because of this creature's defiance. It costed him everything. And he hated him for it. In his mind, the newt ruler was wronged. But in time, he will make it right. And then he will have his revenge. That was his promise.
Though before he could think any further, a blinking light appeared before his left arm. When he looked he saw his communications link going off. Must be from the platoon he sent to exterminate one of the frog villages outside of Newtopia. He lifted his arm and opened up a hologram. Revealing the frobot he left in charge of that operation.
"Report," he ordered, getting straight to the point. "What's the situation down there?"
"My platoon was just attacked sir," the lead frobot addressed.
The amphibian king growled. Knowing exactly who was behind it. He slammed his fist against the railing. Shouting in frustration with the fact that his plans are now further delayed.
"That's the fifth platoon destroyed this week," he commented to himself before turning back to the machine. "Any survivors?"
"None, I am the only one that is left," the frobot added. "But there's also something else you should know."
"What?!" Andrias groaned.
"Before the attack, a few of our scouts have detected multiple anomalies across the planet," it explained. "My platoon was planning to investigate after dealing with the prisoners."
Upon hearing that, he froze. That has never happened before. Or at least since the day the wretched humans came to his world. One of which he manipulated into retrieving the Calamity Box for him.
"How is that possible?" he questioned.
"Unknown sir. But we've picked up several life signs within those anomalies. And they do not take the form of any sentient being in this world."
King Andrias knew what this meant. More humans from Earth. Though this would be from a hypothetical standpoint, considering that there were no other sentient beings in Amphibia besides the frogs, newts, and toads. It must be Anne. Who has seemingly found a way to come back here and has brought a few friends along with her to overthrow him. But again, this was all hypothetical. He could not really say for sure. But he would be a fool to ignore it.
"Send your scouts back out there to investigate these anomalies," he ordered. "Find the survivors and bring them to me. But keep in mind. If one of them matches the description of that abominable wretch of a girl named Anne Boonchuy, eliminate her! Understood!"
"Yes sir," the lead frobot responded before closing the hologram.
By then King Andrias groaned for a second time before heading back inside. He walked down the hallway and headed down a flight of stairs. From which he stumbled upon the dungeons. No doubt it was this very place where that insolent toad named Grime kept him in one of those cells. How quickly things would've changed had he had him and his wretched friend Sasha in his grasp. But the fact that they weren't gave him a headache. And much more.
The pressures of running an army as well as ruling an entire kingdom with feeble resistance was unbearable. And the fact that he now has to deal with this. It never ends for him, does it? Then again, that was the price for being a tyrant. He knew it. His people knew it. And everyone on this planet knew it as well. Yet his mind has not changed. And it never will. Especially considering his most...recent uses regarding the Calamity Box.
"No matter," he reassured himself, as he turned his attention to one of the bigger cells. "In due time, my plans will be back on course. Isn't that right, my new friend?"
From inside the cell, a pair of glowing crimson eyes gleamed at the newt ruler. Those eyes were followed by a pair of jaws that were filled with three rows of razor sharp teeth. Ready to kill at an instant. Slowly the beast's head started to come into the light. Revealing a large frilled spine behind its face. The beast was pretty large. From what King Andrias could see in the sudden darkness. The head slowly started to raise above the ground.
And after just a few more seconds, it lets out a vicious scream-like roar. Making a declaration of wrath for everyone to hear. All while the amphibian tyrant chuckled in extreme delight. Knowing that this could be the first step to reclaiming what was rightfully his. And finally put an end to the Night Fury's reign. Once and for all.
