Chapter 21: To Pentangles!
Mildred was practically counting down the hours till they left. It wasn't long now. Miss Hardbroom insisted they stay for dinner, but that they were off not a second later! Unfortunately for Mildred, She was still stuck in Spell Science. Staring at the clock, watching and waiting for it to tick! The day had gone soooooo slowly! First was chanting, Mildred muttered her way through it, eyes fixed on the slow clock.
Next was Potions, Miss Hardbroom had ignored her the whole class, which was lovely to an extent. Mainly because she'd sat there and stared at a clock for the next hour and a bit. Maud had to do all the work on their Invisibility Potion. Not that she minded all that terribly, She knew Mildred was just so pent up with excitement. It was better if she didn't do anything.
Now stuck in Spell Science. It was torture! No amount of prodding could get her to pay attention. She was stuck thinking of Pentangles.
She thought about Miss Pentangle, The fabulous pink witch that was always so kind to her. To the students, Sapphire and Zac. She'd also heard Drusilla was there now, So it'd be nice to see her. She also wondered if they were also in a castle. Did they have bats, or some other type of rodent!
Lost in her daydream, Mildred was shook back to reality by Maud. "Millie? Lessons fin-" Before she could even finish her sentence, Mildred was up with her bag and legging it out her room and towards the Staff Corridore. Just before she could get there however, she was stopped by one Ethel Hallow.
"And just where do you think you're going?" Ethel asked, voice as snappy as ever. "You know your not allowed down there, Unless.. Is there an emergence?" She was fishing.
"Oh.. Well.. No, I just.." Mildred stumbled over her words. She didn't want to tell Ethel she was living with Miss Hardbroom. Not because of Miss Hardbroom.. But because Ethel was.. Ethel.
"Well what? Planning something else to get you into trouble? When will you ever learn, Mildred Hubble" Because at the end of the day, That is what Ethel thought. That all Mildred ever did was get into trouble.
From out of nowhere, Miss Hardbroom appeared. Mildred had never been so relieved to see her!
"Miss Hardbroom! Mildred's trying to sneak into the Teachers Corridor!" Ethel was a snitch. And there wasn't anything to even snitch on!
"Thank you, Ethel." HB Dismissed. Watching as Ethel threw a smug smile at Mildred, It seems her goal to get her expelled was still in full bloom. Once Ethel had walked well out of range. HB turned to Mildred. "Come."
The Two went through to the Apartment. "Bring your Packing, We'll go through it to make sure nothing is missing." Hecate Stated, pointing towards her room. Mildred nodded with gusto, running into her room to grab the worn out Suitcase.
She placed it onto the coffee table, And as Hecate recalled things from her list, Mildred went through the suitcase either confirming or denying that it was there. If it wasn't, she'd run off and grab it. They were only going for two nights, So they didn't need an awful lot. But with a party like this, you wanted to make sure you were prepared.
Once Mildred's was done, They placed her case by the door, along with her hat, cape and broom. Ready to leave as soon as dinner was out. A lot of Students would have already left for home today. Just a few strays left that were leaving after dinner, and tomorrow morning. Dinner may be her last chance to say goodbye to her friends till she sees them in a week or so for their sleepover.
Miss Hardbroom cheeked her clock before looking at Mildred. "It's almost dinner, You should go and see your friends" Mildred wasn't going to complain about being dismissed, Not to see her friends!
Mildred found her friends sat waiting for Dinner in the main hall. They sat down together and talked a bit about Pentangles. They were ever so jealous! More so Maud, who'd never seen Pentangles. Her parents had no doubt that she should go to Miss Cackles, So they didn't look at any other schools.
Before long, they were eating their last Meal together. Mildred felt a dilemma. She couldn't wait to leave! But at the same time, She was enjoying having dinner with her friends, and knew that it would be the last time for a while.
But at last, soon, dinner was over. Mildred left for the Apartment, She opened the door to see Miss Hardbroom placing some things into her small bag, Coincidentally, the cases were gone. Miss Hardbroom must have seen Mildred's confused look. "Miniature Spell" She explained. Miniature spells were Fourth year spells. So, Mildred had no clue how to do one. But she imagined it was really helpful in times like this. "Put on your cape, and Hat. We mustn't waste time."
While Mildred Put on her cape, and settled her hat on top of her head. Miss Hardbroom simply waved her hand, materialising her own hat and cape. They grabbed their brooms and headed out. "It's A Fairly long Flight. I trust you're ready"
"Yes, Miss Hardbroom" Mildred had been practising flying for longer periods of time. She should hopefully be fine for this trip. The Two had decided not to take the cats with them. Mildred had only seen HBs cat a couple of times, She didn't like spending much time with people. Miss Cackle would be taking care of the pair. She wasn't leaving till Sunday, so she could take care of them for a couple of nights.
Hecate led the pair out back, to avoid students like Ethel, who'd ask too many questions. Before long, they were up in the air. Watching all the trees pass down below. It took them an Hour and a Half to get there Via Broom. Mildred Could feel the broom wobble the closer they got. It sure was a lot.
But it was completely worth it the moment she saw a beautiful Castle, with White Bricks and Purple turrets. The School flag flying high. It was stunning. A Place fit for a princess. And said princess was practically running out of the school, pink dress and all. One Pippa Pentangle stood with an almighty grin, ready to greet them.
