Chapter One
"Are you sure that you want to do this?" ask Yoshio Ootori to the man sitting across from him.
"Yes, I believe that they will be a good match and it will benefit both of our companies. " The man, Eiji Wakashisa, says. Yoshio seems to think for a second and nods.
"Then I will have my lawyer start writing up a contract; and you are positive that the only way your daughter will go along with it is for her to fall in love with my son? You can't just tell her it is happening?" Yoshio ask giving Eiji a look that seems to say that he thought lesser of Eiji for not having control of his daughter. Eiji glares at Yoshio before answering.
"My daughter has had a different upbringing then your son and of you and me. She knows she has a duty to her family, but she has been addiment that she will not be forced into an arranged marriage to better the business. Also, her mother and my parents would not agree to this either, but I think it is in the best interest of my company for this marriage to happen. It would be a win win situation; she gets to marry someone she loves, and we get to better are companies; unless you think your son is not able to do it?" Eiji questions, challenging him. Yoshio not one to be challenged leans forward and puts his hands on the table.
"My son is more than capable to woo a teenage girl."
"Then we have a deal then?"
"Yes." They then shake hands and go into the finishing details.
The Ootori Estate is bathed in early morning light as Kyoya makes his way down the hallway towards his father's home office. It's unusual for his father to be home and requesting his youngest son's presence so early on a school day. It can only mean one thing; his father has something he wants him to do and Kyoya is quite curious to see what it could be.
Kyoya makes it to the end of the hall and stops in front of the door to his father's office, he uses his right hand to knock and waits for the affirmation to come in. His father's cold voice is heard through the door, "You may enter." Kyoya opens the door and steps into the dimly lit room, the only light coming in from the large picture window behind his father.
"Good morning father" Kyoya says politely. His father nods in greeting and motions for Kyoya to sit down in the chair in front of his desk. As Kyoya sits his father jumps right into things.
"I have made arrangements for you to be married." He says in a business-like tone. Kyoya is surprised but keeps his shock hidden behind a blank face. He has always known that he would be put into an arranged marriage but didn't think it would be while he was still in school. His father goes on, "The wedding won't be until after you have finished with school, but there are some conditions to the arrangement that need to be fulfilled before the marriage can happen."
Kyoya nods waiting for him to go on, there is not much to say when his father is talking about business. "Her father tells me that his wife and daughter are opposed to arranged marriages, so it is up to you to make her fall in love with you for the marriage to go through." This surprises Kyoya more than the idea of the marriage, he must make her fall in love with him. That's nothing that he has ever done before but he's always up for a challenge.
"Who is she?" Kyoya asks.
"Kame Wakahisa."
Kame Wakahisa's father assured her that she would have no problems switching schools, and that it would be just like her boarding school back in Scotland. She would get to go home every day after school and see her parents and sleep in her own bed every night. He told her that she would like living in Japan again and that Ouran was going to be a new adventure for her. However, Kame is not hundred percent convinced that she is going to like being back home and is not entirely sure why her father was so addiment that she come home to finish her schooling. She believes that he wants her to be closer so she can start to prepare to take over her family's company; her family owns and runs the largest textile company in Japan, and it has been rapidly expanding in the last few years.
It is not that she doesn't like being back in her home country, but she was perfectly happy back in Scotland and wasn't ready to come home so soon. Plus, Ouran Academy is way too extravagant for her tastes, she might be from a very wealthy family; but she did grow up visiting her grandparent's farm every summer since she's been alive. She likes the simpler things in life and can't stand the two face-ness of high society and all the opulence that comes with it. She's grateful for her place in society; she just wants to be understated in her wealth. And Ouran Academy is just not that.
On her very first day at Ouran Academy she was surprised at her big and grand the school was, and how pink it is. She got lost no more than a dozen times during her first day and the other students were not much help in directing her around, it's like if they don't know who or what family you are from, they have no want to help you unless it furthers their ambitions. However, within the first couple days she got into the swing of things and now can navigate to her classes without much back tracking. Her classes are slightly on the boring side, but she has been able to stay focused on her work and not get behind by daydreaming. She has not made any friends or really talked to many of the students, there has been a couple of students looking at her; a small blond boy that looks way too young to be in the high school uniform and a dark-haired glasses kid that gave her an appraising look when she was introduced to her class. But neither one of them has come up to her to speak with her, probably to worried about how talking to her could affect their status. It doesn't bother her much though; she'll make friends eventual.
Now that it's been a week at Ouran and now that she has got the hang of navigating around the school, she is ready to explore the school more and join a club! That is how Kame came to be in the courtyard outside of the Music building when she met the Host Club.
As the last bell of the day rang, Kame looked up from her work and sighed. 'It's been a long day. Time to finally explore the grounds and maybe look into a few clubs.' She thought to herself as she started putting away her books and things. As she picks up her bag, she notices the glasses wearing boy looking at her, she smiles at him hoping that he'll just come over and talk to her instead of just looking at her like he's been all week. She has notice him making glances at her during the day and she's been wondering what he could possibly want but he never makes a move to speak to her. She's been too shy to go to him because he's kind of intimidating. However, he looks away from her and then instantly dragged out of the room by his hyperactive friend.
"Come on Mommy! We must go save Haruhi from those evil twins!" The blond yells as he drags the other guy out of the room. Kame stares after them and does an un-lady like snort at the words the blond said. 'What's going on with them?' She wonders as she walks out of the classroom and down the hall to the exit. She saw what seems to be a secluded courtyard the other day outside of her music class and has been wanting to take a closer look at it ever since.
As she makes her way to the music building, she takes her time and looks at the scenery and the students walking by. For not really being into how extravagant the buildings are, she does enjoying look at them. They are all a light pink color built reminiscent of mid-nineteenth century Pairs, France in architecture, it really does remind her of being in Europe and visiting all the old Historic stately manors. But then seeing all the students milling around brings her right back to reality. They walk in groups through the many gardens and court yards on their way home or to their afternoon clubs. She passes the small blond boy in the high school uniform, and he is with a tall black-haired student. The blond boy is sitting on the taller boy's shoulder and is talking animatedly about cakes while he waves around a pink stuffed bunny. Kame finds then to be a bit strange but overall, it's a cute site to see. She gives them a smile as she passes and the blond boy waves to her, she waves back and then continues her journey.
As she gets closer to the music building, she sees two redheaded boys walking in front of her, she recognizes these two boys as children of a famous fashion designer that buys and commissions fabric from her father. Its Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin, twin first year high school students, she has met them before, but it's been a few years ago now. As she gets a little closer, she sees that they are walking with a brown hair boy in between them, each with an arm around his shoulders. She can hear a little bit of their conversation as they walk into the building.
"Do you think Tamaki-senpai has figured at what has been preoccupying the Shadow King recently?" One of the redheads asked the other two.
"Probably not, I'm sure The Boss will be spending a lot of time in the corner again today." The other redhead answered with a laugh. The brown-haired boy sighed.
"You two should be nicer, obviously there is something going on with Kyoya-senpai and Tamaki-senpai is just worried." The brown haired one tells them in a blank tone and the twins just shrug as they walk into the building together.
'Who is the Shadow King?' Kame wonders as she takes a turn to go to the back of the building. On the other side of the building Kame walks into a lash courtyard, it's a beautiful site. There's a large fountain filled with lily pads and flowers flouting in the clear water; it also features a statue of a cherub. Around the fountain are benches and beds of flowers of all kinds filling the courtyard with a flowery scent. High above her tree branches hang obscuring the sun and giving the courtyard some shade. Opposite the fountain, there is a large open space with green manicured grass that stretches on for a long while.
Kame smiles, deciding that she has found the best place to rest and do some homework, she has some time to kill since she told her mother she was going to be looking for a club today, but she can do that tomorrow. This is just too nice of a day to waste inside. Kame walks over to one of the trees and sits down, not caring if she might stain her uniform. She puts her bag on the ground and takes out her math notebook to work on her homework. Soon she begins to feel tired, she's still getting use to the time change, she decides to rest her eyes for a few minutes. She soon falls asleep without a care for what is going on around her.
