A/N Hope you enjoy chapter 2!

The next day Sloan was up at 4am getting ready for her 12hr workday. She thought back to meeting the team the previous team.

The team she would be working on was a 6 man group. They worked in pairs of 2. Charlie Weasly, Aaron Harris, Roger Davidson, Peter Williams and Soren Samuels made up the team. Aaron Harris was an American-born wizard who grew up outside of the African Reserve as his parents were healers there. Roger Davidson was fresh out of Hogwarts and from what Sloan noticed a little green around the ears. Peter and Soren were French wizards who had been at the reserve for around 2 years each. Charlie had been there the longest at 6 years and was the leader of the team and Sloans new partner. Their old 6th member transferred to a different reserve after his wife got pregnant and wanted to be closer to family. It seemed to Sloan that they were a tight-knit team and while that is a good thing when it comes to trusting someone to have your back, it makes it difficult being the new person.

Sloan headed to breakfast once she was ready. Making a note to herself to head into town on her next day off to get groceries and order good coffee to be mailed to after drinking the sludge they served in the mess hall.

"Ready for your first day?" Harris asked, sitting across from her at breakfast, a little to chipper for 5am.

"Yeah. I am excited to get to know some of the dragons a bit more."

"Well make sure you aren't late. Weasley is a great guy but a bit of a hard ass when it comes to being on time."

Sloan finished up her breakfast, downed a 4th cup of coffee, and headed to meet up with the team on site. They met in front of holding pins for the injured dragons on the Western part of the reserve.

"Alright, today's orders. Harris and Davidson go through and set up the charts on the 2 new Antipodean Opaleye that were brought in last night. Williams and Samuels the Fireballs needs their bandages changed and to be fed its potions on the hour every hour we are on duty. McGarrett, you and I are going to be updating the charts for the others. If anyone needs assistance, red sparks. Get to work" Charlie ordered

They made their way into the holding area with Sloan following Charlie to the back.

" I prefer to start in the back and work my way forward. We have 12 dragons in these pins injured. 3 Antipodean Opaleye, 2 Fireball, 4 Common Welsh Green, 1 Hungarian Horntail and 1 Norwegian Ridgeback."

"How long have they been in these pins?"

"The Opaleye, not long we found 1 a few weeks ago caged up real malnourished, the 2 we brought in last night from appearances seem to just have some minor injuries from being chained up. The Fireball's about 2 days they have been at the Reserve since birth but got into a fight and burned and cut each other pretty badly before we could stop it. They will be fine after another day of hourly potions. The Welsh for about a month should be moved in a few days. They had some kind of virus that thankfully didn't spread outside of their habitat here and the Ridgeback and Horntail were just rescued last week and are recovering before we release them."

"What determines who stays and who is released after they are better?"

"How well they were before. The Ridgeback had a broken leg so he will be fine back where we found him. The Horntail was shot by a muggle. Not that I can blame him, he did stumble across a dragon. So we will send people out to ward the area before we release her back. They don't need long-term care and we will track them just in case they ever do again."

"The others?"

"It just depends once we know they are able to hunt for themselves and are healthy for the most part. If they are low on the population we might breed and we don't separate moms from their babies so they stay till the baby is okay in the wild. We also bring pregnant dragons here to safely give birth. So it just depends but the average time frame is between 8-14 months."

They finally made their way to the last holding pin. A beautiful Welsh Green dragon was sleeping when they approached the gate. Charlie removed the clipboard from the gate that held the dragon's chart.

"When you start a new chart you put it here and you spell it waterproof. You know the spell?"

"Yeah"

"We use either self-inking quills or muggle pens. Someone introduced those a while back and they are a lot easier to use."

"I'm sure. I heard Europe hadn't left the middle ages with writing tools." she quipped causing Charlie to laugh

"Nope. Quills and rolls of parchment. Essays assigned by inches"

"Yeah, I am a fan of pens and notebooks. Or honestly a laptop."

"Laptop?"

"I'll show you one day."

Before Sloan knew it the 12-hour shift was over.

It had been a long day and she had learned a lot from Charlie. She likes the job so far though it was interesting and challenging at the same time. When they got off work and headed to the mess hall all she wanted to do was shower and relax. So she did just that. She got her dinner to go. She got home showered, put on an oversized Go ARMY sweatsuit and sat on her sofa with her dinner in her lap. She was halfway through her pasta when there was a knock at the door.

Charlie, Pete, Aaron, Roger, and Soren stood on her porch with a case of butterbeer and a bottle of Firewhiskey.

"Well gonna let us in rookie?"
