Sloan found herself in her living room with the 5 wizards as they passed out Butterbeer.

"So what did you think of your first day?" Aaron asked

"I liked it. Learned a lot."

"Yeah, the injured ones are a lot more of the boring work. Next week we move to the regular habits that is fun. The dragons are a bit more feisty."

"Still not as fun as when it's our time to be on the recovery team. Now that is fun. Especially when you get to curse a poucher."

"Hear Hear" the rest of the boy said simultaneously

"Now let's break out the good stuff," Pete said opening up the Firewhiskey

"Ever had it before? I think it's more of a European drink." Charlie asked

"I have not. American wizards stick to muggle liquor."

Sloan took a sip of the whiskey and the face she made caused the group to chuckle.

"Why would you drink that awful shit. Whiskey should be smooth with a slight burn, not lava."

"It isn't that bad" Aaron argued

Sloan got up and went to her kitchen to get a bottle of Redbreast

"This is whiskey, boys. It's a bit on the pricey side for everyday usage. But I never met an Irish I didn't like."

She poured a round for everyone

"Okay I'll admit its better" Charlie said with others agreeing

Slowly everyone left Sloan's cabin till it was just her, Charlie, and an almost empty bottle of whiskey.

"You arrived on a good day on the set. How are you spending your 2 days off?"

The team worked 3 days on 2 days off 12 hour shifts at the reservation. Sloan arrived in time for 1 shift before 2 off days.

"Going into town. Getting some groceries. Maybe explore a bit of Romania."

"Well if you want a travel buddy let me know."

"Will do"

Sloan woke up the next day with a pounding headache. She rolled over not opening her eyes to retrieve a hangover potion from the nightstand. Downing in she laid back down for it to kick in. When she finally peeled herself out of bed she made her way to the bathroom smelling the liquor on herself. After she showered she got dressed and headed into town.

Sloan made her way to the little town right outside of the reserve and into a pub. She ordered food with the barkeep and made her way to a table.

"Already drinking again?"

"Nothing but coffee this morning. Care to join me?" Sloan said gesturing for Charlie to join her

"Sure, let me go order at the bar first"

Charlie and Sloan sat in their booth discussing school and sharing stories of their childhoods.

"I can't imagine having that many siblings. Don't get me wrong I always wished I had one, especially now that my parents have passed, but 6 is so many."

"Yeah it's a lot but there is never a dull moment I can promise you that. What made you join the Army?"

"My dad was in the military. Navy Seal. My mom was killed in a terrorist attack when I was a child. I knew I wanted to make the world a safer place like my dad. So when I graduated I enlisted. But the Seals don't allow women so I went to the Army. I was in one of the first classes that allowed women into Ranger school."

"You would have preferred to be a Seal?"

"When I was 18. Yes. Now. No. I loved my time in the Army and the things I got to accomplish the difference I know I made. I wish that door wouldn't have been closed because of my gender but I can't dwell on what should have been."

"Then the accident made you leave the Army?"

"Yeah, my last deployment. We were ambushed. Of my 12 men 8 died. The 4 that didn't were in really bad shape. Between you and I, I broke lots of laws. I got out my wand and started using every healing spell I could think of. It saved my life and theirs in the end. In the end I was shot 4 times, had 16 broken bones and lost a third of the blood in my body. It was a hellish 12 hours in the woods waiting for backup. Then it was 2 months in a hospital before they could arrange a transfer to a magical one. It was 3 months there and 4 months of rehab. But 10 months later here I am in one piece."

"Why Europe with the war that is brewing in the magical world here. Why not stay in America where it's at least a bit safer?"

"Safety isn't something I am concerned about. Plus when it comes down to it. If needed I'll fight with the Brits. I'm a muggle-born Charlie and if they win they will come for me. It might not be today but it will be one day."

Charlie sat back in his seat looking at Sloan, digesting everything she said. She was right of course the Death eaters wouldn't stop with Britain or Europe. This war was not for the UK it was for every muggle born, for every generation. He made a note to send a letter to Ron and check in on them.
