Rescue
I woke up the next day with my head hurting. My phone's alarm had woken me up, it was five in the morning. I switched off the alarm and got into the bathroom. I barely remember what had happened last night, just that Kol and I had a drinking contest and I had won. That explained the headache and why I couldn't remember much. I took a cold bath and brushed my teeth. Once I got out I changed into blue jeans, a grey shirt and red sneakers, packed up my stuff in a rucksack I had bought the day before and headed downstairs.
Standing next to the landing was Marcel and Kol immersed in a deep conversation. Marcel noticed me and nodded his head.
"Morning," I said, "Little early to plot someone's death isn't it?"
"Nothing wrong with being early is there?" Kol asked me as we started heading towards the car.
"No there isn't. So, you guys sure you want to come?" Last night, they had told me that they were coming with me to free Dawar and they weren't going to take no for an answer.
"Yeah. I have missed a good fight." Kol said, smiling as he walked across to take the shotgun seat. Marcel, the designated driver as he didn't trust our driving, was carrying a sword, which he put in the trunk.
"What's the sword for?" I asked him as I put my rucksack next to his sword.
"Hope told me that you had escaped her school with a sword and you didn't have one on you when you came here. I am bringing it with us just in case." He said.
The sword! I had completely forgotten about it.
"Well, we might need it. The sword might be in Aurora's possession. Although, she can't use the full power of the sword." I said, getting into the car.
"What's that mean?" Marcel said, as he reversed.
"The sword is essentially a nuke. One proper strike can evaporate New York, London and Delhi." I said.
"You got to be bloody joking!" Kol exclaimed, "Why would you make something that powerful?"
"Well to be honest, I didn't think I would lose it."
We drove in silence for some time. I had found a warehouse that was owned by a company called Strix, I figured that's where Aurora would be. When we had left New Orleans, Marcel spoke.
"So what's the plan?"
"Save Dawar, kill Aurora and get out as quickly as possible." I said.
"That's your plan?" Kol asked me.
"I thought you were looking for a fight."
"Fair."
We parked in an empty spot about a kilometer from the warehouse. It was six and cool enough for us to walk to the warehouse through the fields near the highway. When we were close enough, I motioned for the others to stop. Crouching, I double tapped the sides of my specs and immediately I had a zoomed in vision of the warehouse. I could see two vampires on the roof, two more near the window on the second floor behind whom Dawar was tied to a chair.
"Two men on the roof, probably to look out, two more are in the room with Dawar. All unarmed, no sign of Aurora. We will have to sneak in because I am sure there are more inside." I told Marcel and Kol.
"We'll be seen before we even get a chance to get in the door." Marcel said.
"You know I am a witch right? Invisique." I said, closing my fist and then I couldn't see my hand, "Stay here. Wait for my signal."
I started running towards the warehouse. I got to the door and saw two vampires guarding it. I picked a stone and threw it at one of the vampires. The stone embedded itself into the vampire's head, killing him. I sprinted towards the other vampire who looked like he was in shock and snapped his neck.
I jumped up and landed onto the roof of the warehouse only to realise that the invisibility spell had broken. I sprinted towards the vampire closest to me and somersaulted over him and pulled his heart out before he could turn.
I flung the heart up and directed it towards Marcel and Kol using magic. Meanwhile, the other vampire pulled a knife out and ran towards me. I blocked his strike with my arm and aimed a punch at his gut with my other hand. He rolled to the side and ran to me while crouched. He pinned me to the ground and thrust the knife at me with both hands. I caught his wrist and pushed it up with all my strength. The vampire struggled to push the knife at me. I brought my legs together and pushed him off me using them. He stumbled and I got up. The knife was still in his hands.
The vampire had the audacity to smile and came in for another attack. I caught his arm with both my hands, side stepped and pulled his arm towards me, he screamed out in pain and dropped the knife. I freed my left hand and grabbed him by the neck before snapping it. His body fell and I got to my knees to take a breath.
After a few seconds, I got up and opened the door to get into the warehouse. I got to the second floor and saw that it was empty. I looked down towards the ground floor to see Marcel and Kol take all the vampires at once. I started walking to the door in front of me and that's when all hell broke loose.
There was an explosion from my left. The wall broke and bullets started to rain on the vampires. A hook embedded itself on a section of wall above me and from the other end a figure came and pushed me into the wall. Before I could react, the figure snapped my neck.
Past
When I came to, I was in the guest bedroom of the Mikaelson's. I ran out of the room to find Marcel who was in the kitchen. Marcel was on a chair while Rebekah was pulling out scraps of wood from his shoulder. Kol lay passed out on the sofa in the living room. Freya, Nik and Hope were nowhere to be seen.
"What happened?" I asked no one in particular. Marcel and Rebekah turned around and Rebekah pursed her lips.
"There's nothing left," she told Marcel, "I'll leave you two alone."
She left the room and Marcel was looking at the counter, not making eye contact with me.
"Dawar didn't make it…….did he?" My voice caught.
Marcel looked at me and his expression said everything. After the explosion, a hybrid had taken me out. He had then jumped Marcel and Kol who were injured from the wooden bullets. He bit Kol and compelled Marcel to not move a muscle until he left. I didn't even think to ask him how someone could compel Marcel. The hybrid then entered the room where they were holding Dawar and after some time, left through the main door. Marcel rushed up to see Dawar bleeding from multiple stab wounds, barely alive. Aurora, who was also in the room, had been killed. Her heart had been pulled out and placed in her hands.
"There was nothing I could do." He said to me, I could tell he was holding back tears, "Dawar kept saying the word Zakir on repeat."
Zakir! I looked up at Marcel and he looked terrified.
"Ahi, who's Zakir?"
"Zakir was the best fighter pilot I had ever seen. He was one of the pilots chosen to fly the Grumman X-29, a project I had helped in. He helped me perfect the chip technology. But that was in 1984, I didn't think he would actually turn himself into a vampire." I said.
"Well, no self respecting wolf would." Marcel said.
"No. You don't get it, Zakir was human. I don't know how he became a hybrid but this is bad."
"You can't become a werewolf. That's just not possible."
"Marcel, trust me, he was human. It doesn't matter how he became a werewolf, what matters is that he killed Dawar and he is after something. What matters is how I can kill him."
