It was a normal post apocalyptic day. I was part of a camp of survivors, our code name was camp bluesky, I was doing my job of keeping things under control when one of our camp leaders Charles Garnett used his radio to get in touch with me and another group leader Roberta Warren, I used my radio to answer him back "go for Coleman, what's the situation? over" I said into the radio calmly. Garnett answered in a firm but serious tone "there's two people in a boat, I'm gonna signal them but I need back up in case they pull something" Garnett replied. I sighed as this was yet another thing I had to face, I grabbed my gun and answered Garnett "I'm on my way over, wait until Warren and I get there to do anything, over and out" I said then put the radio in my back pocket and started walking. after about 10 minutes of walking I met up with Garnett and Warren which were down not far from the lake. Garnett signaled the two people in the boat and and they indeed headed in our direction. As they got closer I identified them both as male, one was wearing a military uniform and had a rifle in his hand the other wore raggedy tore up clothing. as the two stopped I pointed my AK47 in their direction while Garrett asked them a few questions, the one in the military uniform said that hus name was Mark Hammond and the other guy's name was Murphy, after they answered Garnett's questions they were let inside the camp. Garnett said we had to hear them out so Warren and I agreed, we walked back into the camp, we all walked to one of the tables outside. One of the group members got them some food as the rest of us sat down. We listened to them as Hammond explained that Murphy had antibodies in his blood from a zombie virus vaccine and that he needed to get him to a lab in California. we thought it was interesting that this happened to come to us. We agreed to help get Murphy to a certain point but our main priority was camp bluesky. The next day we grabbed supplies and took one our trucks and set out for our checkpoint, Garnett was driving while I sat in the passenger seat next to him giving him directions, I thought back as to when I was in prison, I never thought I'd be respected again but camp bluesky turned that around for me. While driving we caught something on the radio, it was our group member Doc, he was saying that camp bluesky was up in flames and overrun by a horde of zombies "just great!" I said sarcastically. Just then Murphy spoke for the first time since we met him "that's the apocalypse for you sweetheart" he said looking in my direction, I rolled my eyes as Garnett got out of the truck and opened Hammond's door "look we would love to take you farther but camp comes first so no offense I don't care about you or your mission" Garnett said as Hammond got out of the truck and raised his rifle to Warren and I who just got out of the truck as well, Hammond looked at all of us then pulled Murphy out of the truck "show them" Hammond demanded as Murphy lifted his shirt revealing eight zombie bites, we were shocked to see that someone had gotten bitten and lived to tell the tale. Warren raised an eyebrow as Murphy pulled his shirt back down and leaned against the truck. "How did this happen" Warren asked Hammond, "The vaccine counteracted the bites...now let's get back into the truck and keep driving!" he exclaimed as he lowered his rifle and got back into the truck, we also got back into the truck in fear of us loosing one of our lives because Hammond was on a mission.
