AN: Soooooo… :V with my AA in Japanese I was planning to slap some in this fic cause why not? Asami got her bros so of course, she gotta speak Japlish? Engnese? (Japanese + English) but anywho, after some thought and friend's advice, for the convenience, I'll just have their intended phase written in bold. So yeah, when you see bold, they've swapped languages and this is relevant because Korra is gonna hit language barrier at some point in the future lmao.
P.S. Bear with me… I am trying to build up Asami's background so this chap may be info heavy? I promise it will get better tho! I swear the rest of the chapters aren't this "thick" DX
Ch 2a: Exploitation or Company?
Being born into a prestigious and high-class family in society, your future had been decided the moment you were born. The eldest son was to take over the company, the second to take over international affairs and the third to take over campaigning so… where did that leave the youngest and sole daughter of this elite family? The answer was simple, she was to become the face of the company for propaganda using her looks and grace.
That was exactly how Asami Sato was raised.
She would occasionally wonder how different her life would have become if she was an only child or was even born in a different family. Would that have changed how she was educated? How was she raised? How would that have affected how she needed to act and behave in public? Would she not have to please and try to win over every encounter she runs into?
Never once in her life has Asami ever said no to accepting a 'beneficial' offer that would improve her reputation. If it meant sacrificing her plans of wanting to relax or even taking a simple walk, if it meant boosting her popularity and spreading her influence, it was just in her blood to do so. It was always reputation first and everything after that last.
That was how she and her siblings were raised and that was how her father raised her to be.
She didn't know the meaning of relaxing. She strove to do her best whether it be academics or even increasing her social circle, she put her reputation first and her needs second. The number of times she had agreed to hang out with others compared to the number of times she went home were missed by a landslide.
When could she stop?
When she turned thirty? Forty? Fifty? There was never a moment of peace in her life. There was never a spark. On the technical 'bright side' as of now, she lived the most desired college life one could possibly dream of. Being at the top of her grade, loved by most of the student population, favored by professors, and even always included in all gatherings… she had it all. She had it all to the point that every meaningless interaction and encounter grew dull. However, thanks to her so-called 'elite title' those who didn't sway her way envied her, loathed her, and even despised her at times.
That was the life that Asami Sato lived.
Silently ignoring the bash talk in front or behind her face, she grew to ignore them because comments like those would never cease to exist. That was the unspoken rule of those at the top of the food chain. When people approached her, their intentions were always of the two: they either wanted to gain her favor or envied her status and power. There is never an expectation for that… at least that's what she thought until she ran into Korra.
Korra.
A classmate that she has surprisingly had no interaction with. A classmate that had never approached her, meaning she most likely fell onto the latter side. At least… that's what Asami had thought until she heard her words time and time again, sticking up for her as a person rather than a symbol of fame and power. But, deep inside, Asami knew it was too good to be true. No one's ever had good intentions behind those nice guy masks so she simply ignored her until that encounter in the restroom.
Korra's actions threw her off. She couldn't have known that Asami was in the stall next to her. She couldn't have known that. So why exactly did Korra defend her from being bash talked to by jealous women? Starting her own new mind games, from that day forth, Asami observed her every move. How she acted, how she carried herself as a person, and even what she put out into the public.
Asami couldn't wrap her finger around it. She didn't understand her and the moment she saw Korra make her way into the restroom at the welcoming party, she couldn't help herself. She needed to find out the truth. She excused herself from her table and made her way over to the restroom but what she wasn't expecting was how blunt Korra ended up being. People tried to sleep with her all the time but this was the first time someone had said it to her face without beating around the bush or expressing any other reaction besides the simple desire of lust.
Ultimately, she wasn't shy or traditional enough to keep her sexual endeavors limited either. If she had interest, there was no reason to reject the offer. Something about the look in Korra's eyes melted her cold heart that made her flirt back. In the end, she exceeded her predictions and was more than she could've ever imagined. The passionate night they spent together under that small roof, she's never slept with someone like Korra before. With the many welcoming surprises that came from those alluring eyes to the majestic wonders of her body, Asami found herself thinking about those clear blue eyes daily.
She couldn't forget that warmth she felt when she woke up in a stranger's bed. Despite how small Korra's room was, the sparse amount of decorations and the atmosphere of that room made her feel at home more so than her so-called real home. The caring note that was left behind had no malicious intentions behind it. It was the first time she had ever woken up so satisfied and content. Frankly speaking, Asami didn't want this to end as a one-night stand.
She wanted Korra and Asami Sato always obtains what she wanted.
Although she didn't have a chance to catch her phone number, it was a small loss since she discovered where she lived. As Korra's note had stated, she made herself at home for a short yet long moment. From her brief yet thorough observations, Korra seemed quite straightforward and minimalist. She also seemed to live with a roommate, possibly a family member? If she had the opportunity, she'd be sure to ask.
By the end of her endeavors, she knew she wanted to know more about Korra.
To start off her first move to her plans, she quickly departed her apartment, engraving its location in memory. When she freshened up back at her home, she decided to give Korra the hot and cold treatment. She knew that Korra would be looking for her attention because of what she took from her so, rather than giving her what she wanted, she gave her the cold shoulder. She wanted Korra to make the first move.
Class came just like that and as she suspected, she was right.
The way Korra was intensely bearing a whole in her head to how she never once took her eyes away from her side profile, which Asami had discreetly confirmed from observing Korra with a portable mirror, she knew she had won by a landslide. However… what she wasn't expecting was how awkwardly cute and direct Korra was with her panties. Her gut feeling had been right. She really didn't take them for malicious reasons and that's why she couldn't help herself and teased the poor girl.
The way she blushed upon her confession was priceless.
With that being said, that leads us to where Asami was now, drinking a glass of wine as she watched the night sky from her condo. She playfully swirls the drink in her hand before glancing at the time. It was 9:15pm.
"It should be about any time soon now…"
Finishing her glass, she fluffs out her hair before pouring herself another glass of wine. She enjoys the night sky for once as she waits, anticipating a text or even call. Sometime later, within her expectations, it finally happens.
Unknown number (21:35): h-hey Asami… hi, it's me, Korra. Sorry I haven't contacted you earlier. I've thought about what you said for quite some time now but I honestly don't know what to do so, I'm gonna be honest. I don't know how or what I want our relationship to be but I do know this. That night (and sorry for being cheesy) I felt this… this connection with you. N-Not just sexual of course. I don't know, I felt something with you… not sure what it is and I don't know how to explain it but I do know that I can't seem to forget your eyes. I want to try to start off as friends first and sorry for the tangent but I'll be hoping for the best.
Asami smiles in sweet victory as she adds the number to her contacts.
She holds up her phone to her lips before absentmindedly planning out her next step. She didn't want to rush into a relationship this time. Not with Korra. Of course… she would love to date her as quickly as humanly possible. Their sex compatibility wasn't a question but it was far too soon to assume anything.
For all she knew, Korra could've been a trap.
Maybe she did have some ulterior motives. Maybe she was like the others, those who tried to befriend and use her for her fame and money. Or maybe she even wanted an 'elite' sex partner. People who she had slept with in the past bragged about it until her brothers shut them up. Meaning… It wasn't the first time this has happened to her. It was still too soon to know the answer to that and it was the last thing Asami wanted in this relationship. However, was it really one in the first place? A drunken encounter usually ends as fast as it comes, in a blink of an eye, just like that. But… somewhere deep down in her chest pulled at her heart. As selfish as it was, Asami wanted whatever Korra had to offer.
She wanted everything if the world (essentially her father) would allow it.
Korra's heart and all. As condescending as it sounded, Asami was the type of person who was born with everything she could possibly desire yet at the same time yearned for one simple thing. A person who would love her for who she was. She hardly had anyone she could truly call a friend let alone jumping the gun and finding a lover was a whole different predicament. The risks that come yet the pleasures it could bring… it was a gamble. High risk and high reward as one would say. She eventually taps her phone against her lips before texting back:
I'm glad you texted me, I'm not sure what I want from our relationship either.
Lies.
So… how about we start off by getting a cup of coffee? Let's say… tomorrow morning at 8 if you're free? We can get to know each other and learn something new.
With her bait tossed and prey hooked, Asami knew it was only a matter of time. She sets down her phone before raising her wine glass up to her lips. Taking a sip, she smiles in the darkness of her condo before muttering to herself:
"I'll be looking forward to winning you over."
Her phone buzzes again. Anticipating it to be Korra, Asami immediately frowns once she sees who it was. Her brother.
Hide-nii (21:40): yaa, what r u doing r8 now?
With a sad sigh, Asami taps the rim of the glass before texting back a short answer.
drinking wine
She takes another sip before standing up from her seat. Fluffing out her hair, she makes her way over to the kitchen before pulling out a tray of fruits. As her fingers ghost over the selection, she eventually decides to go with the strawberries and picks one up. Bringing it to her lips, she slowly opens her mouth before taking a small bite. Her phone finally buzzes again. She expected her brother but immediately smiled brightly when she saw who.
Ocean Eyes (21:41): sure! coffee sounds nice & 8 is perfect, does the Jasmine Dragon sound good? It's fairly new but it's so goodddd. They mostly hav teas but the small selection of coffee they hav is to die for!
With the coy smile on her lips, she finishes her strawberry before drumming her fingers on the kitchen island. She ignores that incoming text from her brother and heartlessly swipes away the notification before texting Korra back.
Then it's a date.
Asami could only imagine Korra's reaction. She didn't know the woman very well yet but she had a sneaking suspicion that she probably had an adorable reaction to her text. Pleased with her antics, she finally grabs another piece of fruit, a melon this time, before munching away. Several pieces later, she walks into her vast, walk-in closet room.
"Now then… what to wear, what to wear…"
She walks past several pieces of attire before mumbling to herself.
"Can't scare her off…"
She walks past her dresses.
"Casual is probably best…"
Stepping over to her modern chic, she eyes her wardrobe carefully.
"Hmm…"
After a moment, she stops in front of one of her personal favorites. She smiles deviously before mumbling.
"Perfect."
xXx
"Oh my gosh! Is that Asami Sato!" A young woman squeals.
Her friend gasps, "Oh my spirit it is! Aah! She's so pretty, what the heck! I can't believe she's here!"
"Oh oh! Did you see that latest magazine she was in! I swear, she's the icon of beauty, everything she wears sells out!"
"It must be nice… I'm so envious of her. If I just had an ounce of what she had, I'd be content with life."
Letting out a subtle breath, Asami continued scrolling through her phone, commenting back on various comments on her social media platforms. As she did so, she ignored the multiple whispers of awe and even some of the lecherous ones as well. Ever since she had left her house less than thirty minutes ago, at the very least, five people have already asked her for her number. She brushed them off like usual but the worst of the bunch this time was most definitely the old man who could've been her dad's age which was… plain disgusting.
Now, while this wasn't anything out of the ordinary, she would usually be mildly annoyed at the least but, this time around she was actually in a good mood. She's been looking forward to seeing the look on Korra's face ever since she agreed to get coffee. How will she react to her clothes? Will she act like the fumbling cute mess she was when she tried returning her lingerie? Or will she be obvious and try to win over her graces as most people did?
Ever since Asami had been betrayed by someone who she used to consider her close friend, she's never let someone into her circle. If her upbringing hasn't taught her any better, she could see people's intentions a mile away or even when they spared her a single glance but, for some reason, Korra had her confused. From the exchange she had heard in the bathroom, she didn't seem like the kind of person to care for looks or appearances. However, her obvious intentions in the bathroom had contradicted her assumptions.
That brings her to that same question again, was it really thanks to the alcohol for her behavior?
While Asami wasn't completely intoxicated to the point she didn't know what she was doing, she knew exactly what accepting her gestures would partake in. Since she never really cared for one's gender, she enjoyed seeing how smug and confident Korra was that night. Most people were never that outright and blunt about wanting to sleep with her so who could blame her for being intrigued. Not to mention she had been pent up for quite some time since the last time she had a fling so obviously, she gave in.
Now, what she wasn't expecting was getting lost in those blue eyes.
It'd be an understatement to say that Korra was one of the best sex partners she's ever had. In fact, it's been a long time since she's felt satisfied in bed. For once in her life, she wasn't treated like a princess in bed. Korra's sheer desire and lust were evident and that fact alone was enough to make Asami look her way.
Letting out a stifled groan, Asami shifted in her seat. Glancing at the time, she had arrived a little early but Korra should be here any time now if she hadn't chickened out. Just in time, speaking of the devil, she sees Korra walking into the cafe wearing her usual hoodie, except this time, it was a forest green color instead of navy blue. She ends up frowning softly at the loss and thinks back to those muscular arms and body and those tribal tattoos… she swallows thickly when Korra calls out to her.
"H-Hey Asami! Sorry, I'm late! I thought I left early enough to arrive first."
Asami took a peek at her watch, it was 7:55am.
"No, don't worry about it. I just arrived myself."
Korra gives her a sheepish grin before rubbing her neck. "Cool… um…" there was this expression on her face that she couldn't completely read. "Let's grab some coffee then?"
Smiling softly, Asami follows after Korra before throwing her confused look. "Sounds good." Well this wasn't what I was expecting… She looks down at her outfit. Did I wear the wrong one? She looks off to the side to see bystanders looking at her as if she was some goddess. No, that shouldn't be the case so why isn't Korra…?
"What are you getting?" Korra proceeds to ask, breaking whatever sexual tension that could have been or was there. "Personally, if you like something rich and bitter I'd go with the Vaatu Special, otherwise, if you want something creamy and sweet, the Raava's Light is the best. Other than that… if you don't mind tea then I'd recommend the White Lotus Tile or the Appa Blend."
Asami tilts her head slightly as she reads the menu. "Hmm… Raava's Delight does sound good but the Appa Blend also sounds good.'' Why hasn't she reacted to me?
"I know right! I can never decide on one either…" Korra lets out a conflicted groan before deciding. "Okay I'm getting Raava's Delight, I'm a sucker for that one."
"In that case, I'll have Appa's Blend. Maybe we can share?" Should I hint at it?
Korra lights up. "Can we?"
"Sure," Asami smiles sweetly again. "And you look good by the way. Not going to lie, I was looking forward to seeing you in 'casual' wear since it's Saturday…"
Twitching at that statement, Korra rubs her neck. "Ah… yeah about that, I usually only dress in hoodies and sweaters. It's comfy, you know? I only dress up if I go somewhere special or have something urgent to attend to. Well… unless it's summer of course and I just sweat it out. I'm trying out this new meditation skill though where I focus on my breathing so I don't overheat."
"Hmm… That sounds nice and all but what I'm getting out of this is that our date isn't special enough?" She teases because crossing her arms together.
Korra's eyes snapped open. "W-What! N-No! That's not what I meant, it's just that I'm pretty lazy when it comes to dressing and felt like you'd be a chill person to hang with so I just ended up wearing my usual sweats and sweater! I wore my nicer ones though!" She slaps her face, "Oh great, spirits I'm such an idiot, I should've worn something else. I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to be rude!" She ends up spit-firing without taking a breath, ignoring the fact that Asami might have been completely joking.
Sweater or not, one cannot just unsee just that wondrous body. If anything, she just notices and appreciates those toned muscles even more beneath all that fabric. Asami ends up purposely grabbing her bicep in comfort.
"I'm just joking Korra, relax. If anything, I'm glad you feel comfortable around me. I was worried our night together would have affected our new… friendship."
Korra raises her hands up in surrender, still feeling slightly bad. "Next time I promise to do better."
Raising a brow at that, Asami couldn't help but tease. "Is that your way of asking me out again before our first date isn't even over yet?" She enjoyed that embarrassed face and pinkish cheeks more than she should have.
"That's not what I—" Korra actually slaps her own forehead with a groan. "Sorry, I swear I'm usually not this stupid."
The two of them stepped forward and Asami was swooning. Or was it too early to say that? "Don't worry, I find it cute." She smiles at Korra's wince. "Here, as an apology for teasing you so much, I'll pay for you. My treat." She offers before topping it off with a wink.
Korra ends up slanting her lips at that comment. "Thanks but that's alright, I can pay for it myself."
"Please," she steps in closer. "I insist."
Her frown only grew. "Don't worry about it, Asami. I know you're rich and all but I can pay for a drink for myself. Besides, I feel bad for making you wait so I'll pay for them this time."
'This time' she said. This time. Ignoring her possible teenage heart, for some reason her pride wouldn't let her back down. "Even if you say that, I do feel guilty for teasing you…"
Tilting her head back, Korra closed her eyes and thought about it before giving her an awkward lopsided grin. "Okay, then…how about I pay for yours and you pay for mine? As a compromise."
Asami blinks at that.
As silly as it sounded, clearly neither of them was yielding. But… unlike the people she normally hung out with, they would usually have caved in by now. Especially with the outfits she wore and the gestures she used. Frankly, it wasn't as if she was trying to flex her wealth or sorts but the fact was, small gatherings never really made a dent in her wallet so she never cared too much about paying. Meaning… Korra's gesture took her by complete surprise. This was the first time someone gave a suggestion let alone a decent one where they'd both end up paying in some way and buying the other party a drink as well. And, quite smoothly she would have to add as well.
Chuckling softly, Asami finally responds with an impressed voice. "You have yourself a deal."
Korra grins again. Here, Asami thought she was supposed to be the one hitting on her, so what happened? Up until this point in her life, she thought that she was well experienced with this type of flirting, so why does it feel like Korra had one upped her?
The cashier most definitely looked at them funny when they paid for each other's orders but, not like she cared because it was fun. It felt somewhat different than just paying for a drink that you'd normally buy for others or yourself. By the time their drinks were ready they sat down at a table off in the corner. She watched as Korra took a sip of her drink before blatantly asking:
"So, what's with the change in heart?"
Coughing slightly, Korra almost choked. "W-What do you mean?"
Asami fiddles with the straw as she crosses her legs. "Well, your attitude…" she gestures at Korra, "You're different from when you first talked to me at school. What's with the sudden change? It's like you're a different person."
"Oh…" Korra clears her throat again. "Is that so?" She then smiles softly, "Well… to be honest, I've been thinking about how I acted and how I wanted to act."
"Uh huh…" Asami hums before sliding closer to the table.
Korra did not miss Asami's gesture as she pushed her chest forward and quickly looked away from her chest before continuing. "I was pretty dumb, not gonna lie."
Asami softly bites her straw while maintaining eye contact before taking a sip. I thought you were cute though.
"And uh well…" she rubs her cheeks bashfully. "That's not how I usually act so I would rather not be an awkward mess just because we fucked once."
Feeling somewhat impressed, Asami's eyebrows went up naturally. Hmm. What do you know, she said we fucked with a straight face.
"Also…" Korra fiddles with the rim of her drink before starting. "Not to brag or anything but I'd like to call myself pretty blunt and straightforward. My friends have even called me an open book sometimes actually. I sort of wear my heart on my sleeve as one would say." She then shrugs slightly. "I'm not exactly looking for a relationship per se…" she eyes Asami carefully before continuing carefully, "And whether or not we become friends, who's to say? Maybe we'll get along or maybe we won't."
Asami sips her drink and maintains eye contact to show that she's listening with a slight nod.
Korra then rubs her cheek slightly before continuing, "Anyways what I'm trying to get at is that I want you to get to know me for who I am, not just someone you had a one-night stand with. And also, with that being said, just because you're a Sato, don't expect special treatment from me alright? I don't care if you can buy ten expensive cars or even a house left and right, in front of me, you're who you carry yourself as. Whether you're Asami or Asami Sato, that's up to you but, do know, if you act snobby in front of me, don't be shocked when I sass you back."
Asami blinks repeatedly. She wasn't expecting that. "That's…"
Korra finally gives her a sheepish grin. "Sorry if that was abrupt or weird and all but I just wanted to set things straight between our dynamic. Better rip the bandaid off now than beat around the bush. Besides… wealth, fame, and power don't decide who you are, it's how you act."
"..."
Feeling speechless, never has Asami been lost for words before. You'd think it was easy to find someone like this but, in all sincerity, no one has ever been this upfront and blunt to her before. Guess there was a first for everything after all.
Grinning slightly, Korra continued. "Think about it this way, let's say…" she puts on a fake serious thinking face. "Hm ah yes, theoretically speaking, let's say you're the most influential woman in Republic City that everyone wants a taste of. You're good-looking, smart, rich, you got the whole shabang!" She emphasizes by gesturing her right hand outwards.
Asami snorts at that with a roll in her eyes. "Okay?"
Korra then snaps her fingers. "And then let's say you get to know someone that is 'secretly' way more influential than you could ever imagine."
Shaking her head, Asami couldn't wipe the smile off her face. "You're making no sense but let's say I understand you with my 'oh so smart brain.'"
This time, Korra rolls her eyes. "Bear with me will ya? Anyways, so let's say you get to know this person but you don't know they even have a secret in the first place." Asami nods with a hum before she continues. "And you become super close with them but it turns out, they were hiding the fact that they were the heir to the throne!"
Asami snorts again unintentionally which gets Korra to glare at her.
"As I was saying, let's say that happens. You're still very close friends that you would even be willing to take a bullet for them! But… you find out that they had been hiding this fact from you since the beginning so you're somewhat hurt. Fast forward a little, in the end, you get over it and are still friends, so that brings the million yuan question: what has technically changed within their relationship?"
Scrunching her nose, Asami actually felt somewhat stumped. "I mean…" she tilts her head to the side. "I guess my so-called friend is now above me in the 'food chain' then. I may be successful but I can't beat royalty." She replies as a successful heiress with a shrug.
Jutting her lips upwards, Korra wiggled her index finger. "Tsk tsk tsk, you are wrong my big-brained one. The answer is, nothing."
Blinking, Asami repeated her words. "What? Nothing?"
"Yes, nothing." Korra repeats with a stoned face. "Their friendship never changed just because you found out about their 'secret'. They were still the same old, same old friend you came to love in the first place."
"Even if it's a theoretical me you're talking about?"
"Yup." She pops the 'p' for emphasis. "Even if it's a hypothetical you I'm talking about. If that were to somehow happen, I predict that you would still have a friendly relationship with them." She affirms with such confidence that wouldn't take no for an answer.
"That's…" Asami starts tapping her finger on the counter. A hundred thoughts were running through her brain. Maybe it was because the answer was so simple that her over-thinking didn't see it? Either way, what she did know was that the more Korra talked, the more she found herself wanting to win over her heart even more and more. Finally smiling softly, she sips her drink before softly sliding it forward.
"Touché… people aren't defined from where they're from, it's how they carry themselves that makes who they are."
Korra nods approvingly. "Yes, indeed Asami. You can be dirt poor or super-rich but all that matters is who you are. Your heart as one can say…" she throws her a wink with a lopsided grin. "When it comes down to it, we're all still human. No one is superior or inferior because if someone decides to shoot you for whatever reason, that's that. Your status and money wouldn't act as a shield."
"True."
Asami takes a big sip as she watches the way Korra's lips wrap around that straw. She swallows in an attempt to quench her thirst before finally giving in. "You mind if I try yours so I know what to get next time?"
Korra looks at her in the eyes before sliding her drink forwards. "Sure, help yourself."
xXx
"Hey Asami, did you want to head out to the club tonight? I heard they switched DJs so it's been more lit recently!"
Looking over to her right, Asami gives him her thinking face. "Hm… I don't know, I have a few assignments that are due soon so I'm not sure if I can stay out all night." She responds, walking straight ahead with her guy friends in tow.
Another guy pitches in, "If that's the case, how about we head out for some dinner! Maybe at the local diner downtown? They recently added a new seasonal dish and I heard it was great!" He says before another guy in the group follows in her steps.
She just smiles softly. "Sure, I would love to—" her phone buzzes and she quickly takes a glance before reading the message. "On second thought, sorry boys. Looks like I have to go to a family dinner tonight. Emergency meeting, my brother's gonna pick me up in a few minutes."
"What, aww, you can't make it tonight then?"
"Is that dinner really that important?"
"I was looking forward to hanging out with you."
Giving them a polite smile, Asami brushed her hair aside. "Sorry, family first."
They exclaimed their sadness again before giving in. "Guess we'll have to meet another time."
"What a shame, maybe next week then? We have to go to that diner before their seasonal item is gone."
"Have fun at dinner then, okay? Let me know if you still wanna hang out by the end."
"I will."
Smiling courteously, Asami wondered when they would leave her alone. They were persistent and it was always a task in itself to leave the boys. Thankfully this time around, her brother Hideyuki was going to pick her up. Meaning… she just had to waste some time with them until he arrived. By the time they are at the front gate, her brother thankfully pulls up in a sports car shortly after. The boys immediately all falter when he steps out.
"Sorry for making you wait, Asami." The handsome guy says before walking over to hug his sister.
"Hide-nii!" Asami quickly rushes over to his side before leaning in to hug him tightly.
"Have you said goodbye to your friends yet?" He asks with a challenging undertone as he glances away from the hug, giving them a stern look.
"Yeah, I did." Asami replies back smiling in the hug.
With a hum, Hideyuki straightens up before holding Asami affectionately by her waist. He then gives the boys a condescending look before guiding his sister towards the car. Once in front of it, he opens the door for her. Chuckling softly at the gesture, Asami quickly leans in to kiss his cheek.
"Thanks Hide-nii." She turns around to face her schoolmates. "I'll see you later in class then?"
They were sort of speechless. "Y-Yeah. See you later."
"B-Bye…"
Giving them one last smile, Asami gets inside before Hideyuki closes the door and gives them a look. He simply nods politely before walking around to the driver's side door and getting inside, driving off within seconds.
"S-Shit her brother is scary…"
"I know. I almost shit myself."
They all sigh in defeat.
Watching the street lights pass by through the window, Asami sighs before crossing her legs. She looks her brother's way before prompting, "So what brings the family together today?"
Hideyuki spares her a glance before looking back at the road. "Naofumi nii-sama is back."
"Hmm… so?"
"Dad wanted us to eat together since it's been a while since he's seen you."
Asami lets out a sigh. "Well I would come home more often but you know how I feel. Ever since I came out to dad, he's been pressuring and trying to 'fix' me. You saw how he reacted when I brought my first girlfriend home!" She says bitterly before crossing her arms. "That's never going to happen… I can't change how I feel, I like both men and women."
Hideyuki lets out a pitiful breath. "I know. You know that our brothers and I support you as well. Dad's just… you know. A bit slow at understanding."
Sinking into the seat, Asami let out another heavy sigh. "I doubt that. You know this dinner is gonna be a bust! Dad's probably going to try to 'fix' me again and I've had enough! I'm sick and tired of hearing it. Besides, I don't even know if Naofumi nii-sama feels the same."
"Asami…" Hideyuki says softly as the car comes to a stop before shifting into neutral. "You know we support you. You're our little sister."
"Well he's the one who didn't defend me when we got into an argument!" She lashes out feeling upset. "When dad yelled at me, you and Ren were the only ones who covered for me. Naofumi nii-sama just stood there and watched what happened!"
"Nii-sama is just… he just expresses himself differently."
"Then he could've at least said something!" Asami spits back, facing her brother with both a distressed and angry face. "It's been a long time since I came out to everyone nii! A long time and Naofumi nii-sama is still the only one that doesn't text me or anything!"
"..."
Hideyuki scratches the back of his head before huffing and shifting gears when the light changed.
"He just… wants you to stay out of trouble."
Asami gives him a deadpanned look. "Really? That's what you want to go with?" With her eyebrows creased, she snaps her head towards the window in frustration. "I don't see why liking women is such a big deal. Besides… Korra is…"
Hearing that confession, Hideyuki spares his sister a glance with a slight smirk. "Korra? Who's that? A new friend or…"
"She's…" Asami smiled softly, "Someone I like."
"Hmm… that's rare. It's been a while hasn't it?" He implies, knowing that his sister hasn't liked anyone let alone a woman since her first girlfriend.
Asami fiddled with her thumb in silence and after a moment she spoke up with a soft smile. "Yeah, Korra's… she's really amazing. Compared to everyone… how do I put it…" She smiles happily to herself, "She makes me feel like Asami, not Asami Sato."
Coming to another stop, Hideyuki looks at his sister's face to see her soft smile. He blinks before following in her lead with a happy smile. "That's good, I'm happy for you."
"Yeah…"
"Well, I hope she'll grow to like you the way we love you. Let us know if you need any support or anything okay?"
At that, Asami snorted. "Yeah, as if. You're the only one I can rely on Hide-nii, knowing Ren-nii, he'd mess with Korra and try to blackmail her or something. As for Naofumi nii-sama…" her voice shrunk towards the end.
Hideyuki breathes out a short breath. "Well… for now, let's just keep this between us. Until you get closer with her, how about we keep this our secret."
Asami finally looks back at her brother with a soft smile. "Sounds like a plan."
AN: just a note, Asami's role is being the "campaign girl" for the company but obviously our queen is too smart so she helps out with meetings and shit too.
