Ch 5: Dilfs and Milfs
Letting out a tired groan, Korra flopped down her stomach first onto the mattress. She knew that she had to do it but at the same time didn't want to believe it. She sighed again before whining into her phone, "Do I really have to?"
"Korra, we've talked about this before. I know you don't like attending political meetings but that was the deal when we allowed you to go to school in Republic City alone with your brother."
She groans again before flipping over onto her back. "I know, I know. I got it. I was just joking, okay dad. I'll go, happy?"
He let out a soft sigh. "Korra… it may be for formalities but make sure you're on your best behavior."
"Don't worry dad, I'll do my job perfectly as the southern chief's daughter." She jokes sarcastically with a slight grumble, "This Saturday at Phoenix Hotel around seven right?"
"Yes, that is correct honey. I know you'll do an amazing job so hang in there alright? Oh, and speaking of which, do say hello to Naofumi for me okay? He did wonders introducing that right plow for our scavenging."
Korra crops one of her legs up before crossing her other one over it. "Oh, he's gonna be at this event? Cool, it's been a while since I've chatted with him, I wonder how he's doing?"
"The usual I presume. Any who, stay safe and be careful alright? Tell Kai that mom and I love you two."
She smiles softly. "Love you too dad, give mom a hug for me."
"Will do, talk to you soon honey."
"Talk to you later."
After Korra hangs up, she huffs before tossing her phone to the side. Looking towards her little brother's room, it seemed like he was still asleep since it was still before sunrise. She yawns before eventually stretching out tall and snapping upright and getting up. Scratching the back of her neck, she slid open her closet before digging around.
"Where is it…"
She pushes around a few things.
"It should be somewhere here…"
A few more huffs and grunts later, she perked up.
"Got it!"
With a victorious cheer, she pulls out a dress before immediately coughing at the dust that was on the cover. Once it clears her system, she takes it out before staring at her own reflection in a mirror.
"..."
She rustles her head in annoyance.
"A banquet huh…"
xXx
Dressed in her formal Southern Water Tribe attire, Korra tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before walking towards the reception room. Along the way, she couldn't help but glance at the large banner that listed the major sponsors for today's banquet. Among them, Korra was only looking forward to meeting one of them.
Namely the Naofumi Suoh and Kaede Suoh pair.
Her face scrunches slightly as she moves aside for some business tycoon. After that, she finally looks ahead to see the hall filled with countless people dressed in the highest quality clothes out there which were without a doubt, designer named products. Well, technically she wasn't one to talk either since her formal tribal attire was of the highest quality from their tribe too. As the chief's family, you gotta look your best after all.
Breathing in deeply, Korra sighs before taking another breath. She then rolls her neck before readying herself.
"Alright, let's go."
With her head held high, she walks in with pride as the Southern Chief's daughter. As she waited for the event to start, she didn't talk per sé with most of the attendees. That was one of the perks of her family, they kept their business front on the outside and their privacy on the inside. Of course, if you were into politics, most people would recognize her otherwise if not, she'd look like your regular kid from a well-off or influential family from the south.
Her dad made sure that their family's privacy was protected and even created a complete and perfect alias for Korra at school. They didn't really have last names back at home but on official papers, they went with 'Seaton' but, as for her student name, she went there under Korra Varney.
Meaning… no one knew of her identity except for her friend, Kuvira, because her adoptive mom, Suyin Beifong, was a political figure in Zaofu. That was actually how Kuvira found out who she was in the first place. Fortunately, her family and the Beifongs got along well since they had similar values and beliefs.
Speaking of identities, Korra spots some teens, obviously some rich guys kids, in the distance. They were making a ruckus like most kids their age however, there was a time and place for that and this place wasn't it. She could see distant figures judging their attitudes and those people in particular weren't so subtle with their dislike either. Especially thanks to the context of the kids' conversation.
"I swear, Naofumi Suoh is such fuckable daddy material, ugh!"
"I know you tell me, how can a married man look so fineeee! It's so unfair!"
"Oh my spirits, and don't even get me started on his wife! Kaede Suoh can step on me and I will thank her for it! No, I'll even pay her! She is just so fucking gorgeous!"
"I know right, same!" They paused before one of them gasped dramatically, "Wait, have you seen that one viral vid of their daughter! For one, she's so cute! I swear she's an angel! And two, the way Naofumi scooped her up during that interview so she wouldn't trip was so cute! Ahhh!"
"I did, I did! I swear what I'd do to get such a fine man ughhhh!"
Rolling her eyes, Korra shakes her head softly before turning the other way. Obviously, there was nothing wrong with admiring people however, this wasn't the time and place for that. They should at least take it outside and not say it so blatantly out loud. Thankfully though, her main role here today was to greet some political figures so she could avoid most unwanted interactions. She then spots one of her targets before rolling her eyes and making her way over. By the time she gave a handful of important figures her greetings, she was finally alone and pooped.
"Geez," she cracks her neck side to side. "I feel like deathhhh… how do people do this all day long?"
Letting out a heavy sigh, she starts making her way towards the refreshment table. Then once she had a glass of water in hand, she mindlessly drank her glass before she saw a familiar little girl, or to quote the teens from earlier, an angel! As her eyes scanned her surroundings, she finally spotted the person she was looking for the entire night. Making her way over, Korra has this devious grin on her face before creeping up on the two from behind.
"Mister Suoh, it's a pleasure meeting you again."
Registering her voice, he turns around. Korra then surpresses a whistle because damn, she couldn't lie, Naofumi did look 'fine as fuck' as those kids from earlier would say. That dark colored suit really did him justice. Sure enough, he smiles handsomely before responding and softly jabbing back.
"It's an honor to run into you Miss Korra, I assumed your father was going to come."
Korra throws him a wink accompanied with a big grin. "Nope." She pops the 'p' for more effect. "My dad had some other chief-y business to deal with so he asked me to come represent the south. Plus, you know, since I'm closer to this venue going to school here and all." She blinks before looking down and finally waves at the little girl standing by his side. "Hey Akina, I hope you didn't miss me too much!" She crouches down and gives her a high five which she energetically responds to.
"Hi Korrwah!" She slaps Korra's hand with her small hand.
Happily giggling, Korra tilted her head ever so slightly. "I love your dress by the way, you look super cute!"
"Thanks! You look pretty too hehehe!"
Naofumi lets out a content huff before patting and rustling his daughter's head.
She immediately lets out a high-pitched squeak. "Ah! Daddy, you're messin' my hair!"
Laughing along with him, Korra always adored kids and especially her in particular. "That's because you're so cute that we can't help ourselves!" She pinches her cheek before finally standing up.
"Heyyy!"
The two of them laugh before Korra shifts her weight and asks a question. "So, how's it going? Anything new and exciting besides your company's newest collection?"
Naofumi thinks for a moment before eventually letting out a sigh. "Well… if I may be honest, I'm a little torn with my baby sister."
"Oh? What's wrong? You two get into a fight or something?"
"Well… it's kind of a long story…" he looks off to the side feeling a little somber as he begins patting his daughter's head. She giggles as a response before playfully poking at his feet.
Korra smiles sweetly before responding. "Well, we do have all night so I'm all ears. I'd be happy to give you another point of view."
"Hmm…" he considers it carefully before stating. "In that case…" he went on to explain his situation, about how his father couldn't accept his sister for being bisexual, the fight they had, and about how he wasn't sure what to do.
Korra lets out a deep hum. "That's definitely a difficult situation, that's rough buddy. Huh…" she frowns at the thought of someone's dad being such an asshat. Then, after some careful consideration, she responds to him. "When I came out to my parents, it actually took them a while to come around but they eventually supported me. Your dad on the other hand seems… traditional."
"I don't know what to do…" Naofumi sighs before lifting up Akina when she yawns.
"Daddy I'm sleepy…" she rubs her eye with her stubby hand.
He smiles before patting her back and bounces her gently up and down. "Don't worry, we'll go back home to mommy soon." He starts rocking his body slightly before looking at Korra. "What do you think I should do? If that isn't too much to ask of course."
"No of course not, don't worry about it, just give me a sec to think." She ends up closing her eyes in deep thought. "Well… for starters why don't you interrupt your father whenever he says something messed up? You should try being blunt rather than over thinking. It makes matters more complicated and I'm sure your sister would love to know that her brothers, including you, are on her side even if it's not your style, mister cold, quiet and aloof."
She then nudges his arm playfully, before continuing. "Honestly, it shouldn't matter what she does, let alone who she likes, she is still his daughter. Parents are supposed to love their children unconditionally no matter what. Who cares about success or talent, you have to love your kid."
Naofumi looked somewhat troubled. "I just…" he gives Korra a sad yet soft smile. "If I may be honest, personally I feel like out of all of us siblings, she is the most bright and brilliant one. She's more than qualified and suited to take over our company. It's just… our father thinks otherwise. He's blind to her natural talent and charisma."
He sighs out loud as he grabs his forehead with his free hand. Akina groans a little and he immediately brightens up before bouncing up and down softly and continuing. "I don't particularly understand why dating someone of the same gender is an issue. Heritage isn't a problem since there are four of us. Hmm… perhaps it's because there are still quite a few people out there that are…traditional. I don't know. Even I don't understand what's going on in his mind these days…"
Korra scoffs in response. "He's just an asshole and a terrible father. No offense. It's that plain and simple. Remind me to give him some sass if I ever meet him. Hm… maybe I should tell my dad to do the same…"
Naofumi finally laughs. "Thank you, I'm sure she would appreciate it."
"Any time, feel free to let me flex whatever power I have to guilt-trip him. At this rate, rather than having a bisexual daughter, he won't have a daughter at all."
He raises an eyebrow at that. "That's… that may be true."
Korra shrugs slightly. "Well, at least she'll have her brothers." She nudges his arm, "I'm sure she'll be fine with a brother like you. You just got to step up to the plate and defend her like you mean it. I doubt he can outwit the four of you… wait, your other two brothers support her right?"
He simply nods once.
"Then there you go! Four against one is nothing."
"You know… you already are something Korra. I'm glad I met you."
"I know, I get that a lot." She jokes with a wink.
Chuckling once again, Naofumi gives her a bright smile. "Thanks again," he shifts his hold on his daughter. "But, as much as I would like to exchange more pleasantries with you, I should probably go so Akina can be put to bed."
Korra glances at her bobbing head and sleepy face. Akina was clearly fighting trying to stay awake but alas, she was just a toddler. "Good point, we should call it a night then. Hopefully, I'll see you soon?"
He turns before giving her a nod. "Hopefully soon. Until next time Korra, have a wonderful rest of your night." He gives her one last respectful bow which she returns as well.
Once he was out of sight, Korra let out a soft sigh. "God he's such a dilf… now if only he wasn't married." Nodding her head with approval, she turns back to the crowd before mingling some of the last guests. "This is such a long night…"
xXx
"Spirits… I hate this danged stupid game argh!" Kuvira exclaims before aggressively smacking the machine's consoles. She groans in frustration again before adding to the rowdy background noise in the Fire Ferret's Game Arcade.
Since both Kuvira and Korra ended class early today, they decided to hit the game arcade since they wanted a change in pace before the creeping doom's day called the midterms that was approaching. Albeit, Kuvira was pretty much the only one playing most of the games while Korra was mindless hitting some of the keys here and there, spacing out in thought.
With a sigh, Korra game overs in the game she was playing before taking a step back. She rustles her hair before staring at her text message log or, in other words, her one-sided conversation with Asami these past few days. She's been texting her for weeks now but still nothing. No response. Nada. She hasn't heard any news from her since that encounter at the Fire Ferret Mart. Did she do something wrong? Misunderstand something? Mixed some signals? She had thought that by now that they were close friends so why was she getting ghosted all of a sudden?
Weren't they friends?
Asami stopped coming to that one single class they shared.
Her presence on campus also lessened.
She practically disappeared…
People on campus had been talking. They've been wondering where the 'Great Asami Sato' has disappeared to. Where is she? What has she been doing? Why isn't she here?
Guilty as charged, Korra has been eyeing the news and any social media outlets trying to dig up some answers. To her dismay, there had been nothing. It was quite interesting how the most popular woman on campus used to be in every campus news article left and right yet, all of the sudden, it was as if she never existed.
How does that happen?
Why was it happening?
What in the world was going on?
Urghhh… talk about frustrating. With an annoyed face, Korra shoved her phone back into her pocket before adding a yuan to a random machine, the shooter one to be exact. She then grabs the fake, bulky gun before shooting the screen. "Stupid phone…"
She shot some rounds at the zombies.
"Stupid insta."
The zombies shrieked in death.
"Stupid school!"
She made it rain bullets on the screen.
"Stupid Asa—"
She freezes before she could finish the sentence. Her eyes widened and her lips parted but, before she knew it, her character groaned in pain before the screen was covered in red, signaling 'Gamer Over' before fading in and out with the option of reviving herself for a yuan. Her finger hovered at the trigger on her gun and she felt… mad?
That wasn't quite it… did she feel sad, empty, and hurt?
"Damn what a shame, you were so close to that perfect score."
A pat on her shoulder brings her back from her thoughts.
Kuvira wraps her arm around Korra's shoulder. "What's up loser? Why are you all doom and gloom huh?"
Korra frowns before bringing down her gun. "I… I'm not…"
Giving her the 'really' face, Kuvira smacked her back. "Come on, talk to me. Let the Great Uniter solve your issues!"
At that, Korra rolls her eyes. "Nothing's wrong. I'm fine, just a little tired, that's all." She puts the toy gun back before walking towards another game. Of course, it didn't matter what game it was so she inserted a yuan into the console before checking her phone, again.
"Ahah… I got it." Snapping her fingers, Kuvira strolls over and inserts another yuan into the game Korra chooses so that they could do two players. "You're heartbroken aren't you!"
Korra's jaw dropped. "What! No, I'm not! Why would I be!" She sips out in rapid fire.
Kuvira ends up pushing Korra's face so that she was facing forward since the game began. They both started playing and as Kuvira mindlessly tapped on the controls, she simply stated. "You're heartbroken because you got played. That lil' Sato crushed your heart, didn't she? I knew it was good to be true that you had a crush on someone around our age."
"She did not! Wait what?" Korra's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Why would you even say that! We're just friends!"
Without sparing her a glance, Korra pushes her face forward again before shrugging harmlessly. "Just friends huh? That's what they all say."
Groaning loudly, Korra angrily smashes the controls. "We're. Not. Dating. Seriously. Just friends okay… I just… she just…" she sighs sadly with a sad pout. "She's ghosting me."
"Oh." Kuvira cocks an eyebrow at that statement. "Well, that… sucks. Did your confession go that badly?"
"Bah! For crying out loud, I didn't confess!"
"What'd you do then, why would she ghost you? I feel like she lik—" Kuvira was cut off before she could even finish since Korra interjected her.
"That's the thing! I have no idea what I did wrong. The last time we talked, it was at the Fire Ferret Mart but then poof! She doesn't respond to my texts let alone calls! What did I do wrong? Was it the squid ink cream puffs? Those were good though, she liked them!" She spits out quickly.
Kuvira only grunted. "Well, maybe you said something wro—"
"I thought we were friends. Does she hate me now? I… I just wanted to be her friend." After a second of frowning, a sudden realization hits her. "Oh my spirits… hold on a sec, what have I done! Dad's gonna kill me. Forget about being normal friends, he told me to especially get along with the Sato kids if I run into them! The only ones that I've run into so far are Asami and one of her brothers! I ended up threatening him to top that off. Oh fuck… I'm doomed…"
She slaps her mouth shut before continuing. "What if the Satos come to the south for some reason and then she runs into me! I haven't told her my secret! If we somehow run into each other, that's gonna be so awkward. Nooooo!" She dramatically grabs her face in horror with a gasp. "What if my dad somehow finds out we fucked but our relationship went south for no apparent reason after that! Ahhh!"
The character she was controlling finally dies after Korra had released the controls. 'Game Over' rolls on her screen before Kuvira annoyingly gives the boss the final blow.
"Well, first of all, calm dow—"
"I can't be causing trouble! I'm screwed!" She sniffles all of a sudden, "What did I do wrong! Why is she ghosting meeee!" She starts sobbing out of nowhere, causing some of the other gamers to give them a funny look.
At that, Kuvira finally had enough with a loud groan before aggressively flicking Korra's forehead.
"Ow! What the fuck Kuv, that hurt!"
"ONE. Shut up and listen to me. TWO. Calm your tits down woman geez. Stop being such a drama queen," she then pulls Korra into a headlock.
"Ow ow ow— hey watch it!" Remaining in that same compromising position, the two of them somehow made their way towards a more reclusive corner in the arcade.
"Alright, I heard ya loud and clear okay? I'm sorry that Asami is ghosting you for no reason. I honestly don't know why she's doing that but I'm sure she has her reasons. And from what I know, I haven't heard that much gossip or news about her on campus. Meaning… I'm sure that you're not the only one she's, quote on quote, ignoring."
Korra sniffles more before giving her friend puppy-like eyes. "You think so?"
"Yeah yeah, I do think so. Cheer up will yah? I know you like her and all but you don't know if she is the 'one.' There are plenty of fish in the sea so even if it doesn't work out with her, I'm sure you'll find someone else."
"But that's not…" she lets out a soft sigh. "That's not it Kuvy, I'm fine with being just friends with her but something inside of me is telling me that she needs a friend, someone to be by her side…" she rustles her head. "How do I explain it? She seems… lonely?"
"Lonely? With all those people by her side?"
Korra finally pulls back her head from Kuvira's chokehold. "Yeah. Lonely. And hey, just because you have hundreds of friends, that doesn't mean shit if no one's willing to watch your back. You know how it is," she softly punches her arm. "Don't you get people trying to kiss your ass all the time?"
"True…" Kuvira shrugs back in response. "Well, that's also why I don't have that many friends."
"Aha! I knew it! You don't have any other friends than me dontcha!"
With a blank face, Kuvira smacks Korra's head.
"Ah! Ow—hey! Excuse you!"
Kuvira just starts messing with her hair.
"Kuvira— you ass! Stop that will you!"
She smirks smugly. "Oh yeah? Or else what?"
Groaning loudly, Korra was swatting her friend's hand away left and right. "Or else you better watch your back!"
"You better watch your back!" A random voice shouts from afar.
The two of them blink. They gave each other looks before they looked in the direction where that second voice came from.
"Ah… isn't that…"
"I said, give it back!" An angry teen shouts while swatting at this thug for a bag in his hand.
"Or else what Kai? You gotta call your mama or dada?" He laughs obnoxiously while holding that bag high in his hand.
Clearly, at a disadvantage, Kai clenched his fist. "For someone who is from a prestigious family, you fight low like a sewer rat!"
That made him angrier. "What was that you orphaned peasant! Why I oughta—"
"I think that's quite enough," Kuvira states in a cold voice as she grabs the thug's wrist, giving it a crushing squeeze. He yelps in pain before letting go of the bag, causing it to drop.
Kai flinches at that and lunges forward to grab it but, before he could catch it, Korra safely swoops it up. "That was a close call."
Kuvira crushes his arm a little more before tossing it aside. The thicker boy cowers as he grasps his hand. "W-Who are you two skanks?"
"Aaahh?" Kuvira took a heavy step forward with her cold-blooded face, making him almost shit his pants. "What's it to you? Little boy."
"Heee!" He scampers back even further. Given, he may have been a little taller than Kai but he was still shorter than both Kuvira and Korra. "I-I'll remember this Kai! You better watch your back!"
Kai couldn't believe his ears. "That's what I said!" He was about to throw his arms but was stopped by Korra.
"Woah woah, calm down tiger. You won't win over Jinora that way you know."
"But I—"
"Alright break it up here. What's going on?"
They all flinched at that familiar authoritative voice.
Kuvira was the most nervous one of them all though. She looked like she was starting to sweat bullets. "Oh shit…" she mumbles under her tongue.
Hearing a loud sigh, the three of them inched around to see a familiar face. In particular, a face that Kuvira really didn't like seeing in these types of situations. She froze up, completely stiff, before clearing her throat and eventually fumbling out, "H-Hey ch-chief…"
Kai was nervously hiding behind Korra while she simply gave her a lopsided grin before waving slightly. "Hey Lin! How's it going?"
Chief Beifong has that grouchy face as usual before she practically scowled at the sight of them. "Don't call me that."
"Right! Sorry." Korra took a step back with a slightly nervous laugh. She quickly stood upright and saluted before restating herself. "Chief!"
The Chief only sighs more. "Care to explain what happened here? I received radio complaints about a disturbance." She eyes the three of them before glancing at Kai. "Do I need to contact your father again Korra?"
This time, Korra gulped before pulling Kai in for a side hug. "Nope! We're totally good. Right lil' bro?"
Kai nods vigorously with a bright grin.
Korra clears her throat. "Well then, it was nice seeing you Chief… now if you'll excuse us…" she pushes Kai towards the exit and Kuvira makes her way behind them. But, before they made it far, Chief Beifong's voice stopped them.
"Hold it…"
The three of them froze before they slowly looked at her.
"You two are good to go. Kuvira, can I get a word?" She states while waving and flicking her hand.
Kuvira's lips twitched up and she looked at Korra and Kai with a panicked expression that screamed help. Korra and Kai only had a nervous laugh before they excused themselves. Of course, Kuvira gives them the stank eyes which screamed I'll get you back later. By the time Korra and Kai were out the door, Korra pulled Kai into a neck hold.
"Care to explain why you got into a fight? I haven't seen you in forever yet when I do, you're fighting some punk?"
"Ow ow ow, I can explain!"
She teasingly pulls him down lower to the floor somewhat. "My ears are all open."
"Dah! I just— that's—" Kai looked uncomfortable for various reasons.
"Come on kiddo, I know you're not the type to start a fight for no reason anymore. You're lucky Kuvira sacrificed herself for us. Just imagine how much dad would kill us if we got into trouble again." Korra shivers at the thought, "Spit it out now or may you forever be silent."
He grumbles. "I'm sorry, okay? I just… Dick, that bastard, and yes, before you ask his name is Dick by the way," Korra's eyebrow twitches and she starts whistling nonchalantly before letting him go. "Thanks. Anyways… that bastard. He took away the present I was gonna give to Jinora later."
"Ahhh, that's what this is?" Korra lifts the bag up which Kai quickly takes back.
"Yeah. It's something I made for her from our tribe."
Korra smiles softly, "That sounds nice."
"Yup."
"And…?" She inquired further with a raise of the brow.
"And what?" Kai repeats, faking innocence.
"And what else duh? You looked like you wanted to beat the shit out of him, I doubt you're that petty to go after someone for just taking your stuff."
Kai tsk-ed. "How'd you know?"
Korra smirks, "We may not have known each other since birth but you're still my bro so I can read you like the back of my hand."
He groans.
"Come on, why don't you tell sissy about your troubles." She cooes while patting his head.
"Ew," he slaps her hand away, "I hate when you call yourself that."
"Ow…" she frowns before rubbing her hand. "How mean… I didn't raise you to be like that!" She quickly recovers with that horrible joke of hers.
Kai rolls his eyes before grumbling. "He made fun of my lineage too…"
"Say what?"
"I said, he made fun of my lineage! This and that happened and then he made fun of how my birth parents abandoned me! And how you guys aren't really my family, though he doesn't know the specifics, you know, shit like that." He concludes with a frown looking clearly upset.
"Watch it, language…" she half-heartedly scolds.
He winced. "Sorry."
Korra quickly cracks her knuckles and neck before pivoting around though. "Good. Now then, where's that Dick head though? I should've whipped his ass when I had the chance."
This time Kai's eyes were bulging. "Wait! Woah woah woah, hold your horses! Dad is definitely gonna get mad if you pick a fight!" He stops Korra right at the corner they turned.
With a glare, Korra turns back at him. "You should've whipped out our family's privilege then! What's the point of having a powerful backing if you can't use it when necessary." She states firmly before throwing up her hands, "You may have been an orphan but you're my brother now." She smiles before grabbing his shoulder warmly, "So what if you were alone for a good portion of your life? You have a mom, dad, and even me now." She then points her thumb towards herself, "Once you've become family, you can't get rid of this ass. I'll chase you down even if you hate me."
Kai rolls his eyes but still smiles, feeling warm nonetheless. "Thanks."
Korra grins brightly before wrapping her arm around his shoulder in a friendly way. They started making their way down the streets of Republic City. "Since it's been a while we've hung out, why don't we go out? Just the two of us, anywhere you like."
"That sounds…" he looks up in thought, "Nice actually. Sorry I haven't been home that often, it's kinda hard splitting my time with the people I care for."
"No worries bud," she brings her fist up for a bump which he quickly returns. "We all walk our own paths and you just happened to find someone you want to share that path with more than others. Of course, you still gotta make room for our parents and me though lil' bro!" She sniffles dramatically.
"I know I know, sorry. I'll try harder."
"Good. So tell me, how are you and Jinora doing?"
Kai brightens up at that. "Great actually! We were thinking about visiting Spirit Wild's park next week, you wanna come?"
Humming at the thought, Korra finally releases her little brother's shoulder. "As fun as that sounds, I think I'll pass. My courses have been killer these past few days so I gotta catch up. There are some materials that I need to research more about if I wanna ace my class."
"Hmm, what a shame. Maybe during your next break or something?"
"Sounds like a deal."
Kai slants his lips in curiosity before asking this time around. "How have things been going with your crush? Asami Sato was it? I'm sure dad would be thrilled yet shocked if it turns out you're dating the daughter of the south's number one beneficiaries."
Korra immediately groans at that. "Don't even get me started with that. I don't want to talk about… long story short, she's ghosting me for some reason. No idea what I did wrong but poof!" She gestures a smoke cloud-like motion, "She just disappeared, no goodbye nor text, nada!"
He scrunched his nose at that. "Ouch, that sucks… you really liked her too."
"Hah! You're telling me! I just…" she has a deep frown. "I don't know what to feel in all honesty. I like her… I kinda thought that she felt the same too but after getting ghosted all of the sudden, I don't know what to think now. I don't even know if I should be sad, mad, or glad that things ended before they started since obviously, we wouldn't have worked out anyway!"
"Hey," Kai punches her arm softly, "Why are you putting yourself down? She's the dounce that's missing out by not even trying! She's lucky that you even like her. Besides… Why don't you send her a text? Didn't you have your 'phase' too at some point in time? You know… the ghosting everyone part."
"Pssh… as if…" Korra gramaces for a moment, ignoring that thought and the emotions that came from it. "But true… you really think so? That I'm… worth it?"
"I don't think so, I know so duh… who wouldn't want to date you? I'm sure she has her reasons. Just give her some time. You're the most chill person I know!"
"Awww… Kai…"
He crosses his arms behind his head before harmlessly mentioning, "Wellll… besides the fact you have a thing for older people, specifically dilfs and milfs."
"What!" Korra's eyes popped open in shock and offense. "I do not!"
"Pshhh, sure you don't." He gives her the stink eye, "I know you totally found Naofumi hot and Chief Beifong too."
"What! That's so not true!"
Kai gives her a look. He holds it and sure enough, Korra folded.
"Urgh, okay fine. I do think Naofumi is hot, because duh he is! Hello? Like, have you seen him? And besides, tell me Chief Beifong isn't the hottest aunt you know besides Aunt Kya."
With a short yet smug laugh, Kai gave her a smug ass look. "Hey, you said it, not me. I know you love your older women slash men. Maybe I should tell Aunt Kya that you still have a crush on her after all these years!"
"No I don't!" She quickly snaps back. "Why you little—"
Laughing out loud, he starts running ahead.
"Get back here!" Korra starts chasing after him.
Kai simply turns his head around and sticks out his tongue. "Never!"
Shaking her fist, Korra ran after him at full speed before shouting his name. "Kai Seaton, you little brat! Don't you dare!"
He just shouts bad. "No promises lil' cub!"
"Hey! Don't call me that, I know where you live so watch it!"
Kai just had a smug yet playful grin on his face. "And I know how to contact your childhood crushes so if you don't want that secret letter stash of yours exposed, you better watch it!"
Korra gasped dramatically. "You wouldn't dare…"
"Maybe I do… maybe I don't…"
This time, Korra gives him the stink eye. "Then I guess no allowance for you."
"What?!" He abruptly stopped in place. "You wouldn't…"
Korra stuck her tongue out this time. "Watch it lil' bro, I'm still the one in charge while we're in Republic City so if you want that date money, you better keep your mouth shut."
Kai glares at her before raising a hand for a shake. "Fine, deal?"
She pretends to think about it before taking his hand, "Deal."
And just like that, they came to a truce.
