Warnings: sickness and vomiting

Wally didn't show up for training. Usually he was late, which was something that Artemis couldn't understand. How can a speedster, a speedster who can literally run around the world in seconds, be late?

Robin told them that they shouldn't worry, but Artemis still did. She was worrying a lot about Wally recently. He and the Flash had been facing all different kinds of villains recently, from Captain Cold to regular criminals right out of prison. He was busy. Very busy.

Black Canary sighed as everyone stood around, waiting for him to come. Artemis half expected her to check a watch in frustration, she looked flustered, well, as flustered as she could get. This was the fifth time Wally was late. It was getting annoying for everyone. Artemis tried to be understanding, but it was as if they couldn't do anything until he was here. Yet, she couldn't help but be concerned. Should Wally and The Flash be dealing with all of those villains by themselves? Shouldn't they get help from some of the heroes that were their friends?

"Alright, everyone, it looks like he isn't coming." Black Canary finally said. "Let's get started."

Artemis banished all distracting thoughts from her mind as she heard the words, soon turning her eyes to Robin across the training floor, taking out her bow and arrow. Robin smirked and crouched down.

"Fight!"

Robin laughed as Artemis shot an arrow next to his arm, but he dodged away easily, running up to her and kicking the weapon out of her hands. She tried to trip him with her legs, but he was too fast, getting behind her as soon as she tried.

Artemis went to grab his arms while holding her back and fling him over her shoulders, but the robotic voice of the zeta-tubes stopped her.

Kid Flash it announced, turning blue as a figure began to emerge from the lights. B-03

Artemis' eyes went wide as she saw Wally, something was wrong. So so wrong. She didn't know what, but even the way he held himself was…so unlike him. As soon as he was fully there, he ran off down the hall, holding his mouth as if he was about to puke.

"Wally." She breathed, and Robin shoved her to the ground, gripping her wrists behind her back. She shook, trying to get out of his grip, but he held onto her tightly.

"Artemis, you can't allow yourself to become distracted." Black Canary said, and Artemis got up when Robin weakened his grip.

"Wally's back, shouldn't we go talk to him?" She asked, frowning, but Black Canary remained unmoved.

"Wally's presence is no excuse for getting distracted in battle."

Robin cast a concerned glance to the archer, who's hands became fists at the words.

"Why don't Artemis and I train later? I can face Kaldur, and she can go check on Wally. He rushed out of here pretty quickly, I'm not sure if he's feeling the aster right now."

Kaldur nodded. "I think that that is a very good idea."

Black Canary looked around at the team, taking a deep breath. She then turned to Artemis, who appeared that she was holding in her anger, and gestured towards the hallway where Wally ran off to.

"Alright, I'll allow it. Artemis, you can go."

"Thanks."

With that said, she picked up her bow from where it was discarded on the ground and made her way to the residential wing of the Cave, quickly changing into her civilian clothes, and hoped that Wally was either in his room, the kitchen, or the living room. He was usually always in one of those three rooms, and if he wasn't she would have no clue where he went.

Thus, she began her search. A quick glance at the kitchen told her that he wasn't there, or in the living room, so she knocked on his bedroom door.

"Wally? It's Artemis, can I come in?"

He didn't respond, and she believed that he wasn't in his room. But that was until she heard the sickening noise of dry-heaving.

"Wally?" She pushed open the door and rushed to Wally's bathroom, thankful that his room was connected to a bathroom. If her guess as to what was going on was true, he could use the privacy.

She gasped when she saw him leaning over the toilet, hands shaking as he clung onto the rim tightly. His red hair clung to his forehead in disarray, and he was pale, paler than she had ever seen him. His freckles, usually so cute as it covered his nose and cheeks, seemed like dark bruises against his skin. He was so pale.

"Wally!" Artemis exclaimed, kneeling beside him and rubbing his back. She wasn't very physically affectionate, she never was, but she allowed that part of herself to fall away when she was with Wally. He loved physical affection. He needed it.

And he most certainly needed it now.

Wally looked up at her, his eyes clouded with pain, and managed to smile, if only a little bit.

"Hey, beautiful." His breath was short and heavy, and Artemis watched him with worry.

"What happened? Are you okay?"

Wally shrugged, fear filling his eyes as he proceeded to vomit into the toilet, his body quaking with every heave. Artemis continued to rub his back, whispering comforts into his ear.

"A new meta." Wally gasped out, coughing. "So many, so many bombs…"

"Biological weaponry? Is that what this is?"

Wally nodded. "Yeah. I got a faceful of…something."

Artemis grabbed a bottle of water from the sink counter and gave it to him, never leaving his side.

"Do you think you're done for now?"

Wally took a sip of the water and winced. "I…I think so. Still feel gross, though."

Artemis helped him to his feet and led him over to his unmade bed. Thankfully he had managed to change out of his suit earlier, so Artemis knew that he was more comfortable than he probably was before. She gently eased him under the blankets, despite the fact that he was covered in sweat, hoping that it would stop his shivering.

"Have you seen The Flash yet? Got a check up?" She asked, and Wally sighed.

"Yeah. He said that the effects will last a while, up to two days, even with my fast healing."

"Is it contagious?"

"No."

Wally shifted his body on the bed with a groan, clutching his stomach as he curled up. She could tell that he was vibrating under the blankets, as if the movement would get rid of whatever sickness plagued him.

Artemis kneeled down to become level with him and pressed her forehead lovingly against his, knowing that he was feeling absolutely horrible and could use her affection. His skin was hot to the touch, but Wally leaned into her, closing her eyes in content.

"I think you have a fever. I'll go and get you something for it." She said, pulling away. His hand reached over and grabbed her wrist, weak and finicky.

"Stay." He muttered, his eyes barely open. "Please."

She blinked, knowing that he needed medication, he needed some more water, and she had to get back to training. But, he did say that he'd already gotten help, and she didn't care about training. She had to be here. And, if he really wanted her to stay…

Artemis nodded, getting on the bed and sitting where the front of the bed hit the wall, leaning against it, and letting Wally rest his head on her lap. She began to card her fingers through his hair, and he closed his eyes, clearly trying to relax despite the discomfort he felt.

"I'm here, Baywatch." She whispered. "I'll always be here. I promise."
