Prologue: Getting Warped Again
Amitie and her friends have all warped between worlds at some point before by engaging in Puyo Puyo battles. For some of them, they warped around multiple times throughout their adventures. Most of the time, this wasn't too dangerous and it allowed these individuals to see other worlds for what they were. However, this next adventure for the kids would prove to be somewhat dangerous for their standards. And the last adventure they remember was a series of events where Ecolo was slowly planning to bury the world in an astronomical amount of Puyos for a second time. Although yes, that last adventure did prove to be potentially dangerous... there wasn't very much tension until Ecolo's plan was fully ready to go. And by the time it came around: Amitie, Arle, and Ringo all gathered their friends and such to put a stop to the Wanderer of Worlds.
Since then, the kids had been taking things easy... as far as they remember, anyway. They all felt like they forgot about something important, but they couldn't think of what that might have been. In actuality, they went on two whole adventures after stopping Ecolo. But, they all forgot what happened within those adventures because their memories were wiped twice. Once from the first of the two, and they were wiped again from the second. Why was this the case? Well, the Keeper of Dimensions was involved with those events and his job was to make sure that the dimensions stay separate. And when two dimensions are separated after being merged... the original residents of the respective dimensions would be transported to their homes, with their memories of what happened after the merge occured wiped.
This was the reason why no one, aside from a few individuals, ever remembered meeting other people because of dimensions merging together and separating afterwards. Now, of course, warping to another dimension is entirely different from that phenomenon. And because the characters from the Puyo dimension would be warped to a brand new location previously unknown to them... They will remember the dangerous nature that this new adventure has in store for them. But what got some of them warped to this new place anyway? Well, it all started one day at Primp Magic School for Amitie and her friends. Before school ended, it was a relatively normal day. Amitie had been in Ms. Accord's class and she was nodding off from a boring lecture. This was typical coming from Amitie. After all, she wasn't exactly the most studious person around. Ms. Accord knew this, and even she found it to be somewhat frustrating. After the class ended, the other students started leaving for home. Amitie was still nodding off and Lidelle saw her in that state. Caring for Amitie, Lidelle woke her up.
Amitie: "Mmm… Uh...?"
Lidelle: "Amitie, class is over."
Amitie: "Wha…? Already…?"
Lidelle: "Yes, it is."
Amitie: "Then, um… What did I miss?"
Ms. Accord: "Almost everything, Amitie... You were nodding off for most of the class and I don't like how you didn't really take in today's lecture."
Amitie: "M-Ms. Accord… … I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself, it wasn't exciting."
Ms. Accord: "I understand that, however... Learning to take notes and keeping up with new information is important, Amitie. It may not be fun to you, but I can assure you that it will help you somewhere down the line. Why do you think you're a part of this class in the first place?"
Amitie: "I-I…"
Lidelle: "Amitie…"
Ms. Accord: "I rest my case. I will let you go for now, Amitie, but please remember to take notes… okay?"
Amitie: "I-I'll try, Ms. Accord."
With that, Amitie got out of her seat and grabbed her things. Then, she left the classroom with Lidelle by her side.
Amitie: "*sigh* Lidelle, what am I gonna do? Every time I try to pay attention to one of those lectures, I doze off and I miss whatever Ms. Accord goes over. And she's telling me that this stuff will help out at some point. This is so not wicked…"
Lidelle: "Then, maybe you need to realize how fun learning can be…? But it's like you said, Amitie: Taking notes isn't really exciting, and it doesn't look like you'll start doing it soon."
Amitie: "You got that right…"
Lidelle: "Hmm… … Do you want to have a Puyo Puyo battle with me later? That always seems to cheer you up."
Amitie: "Y-yeah, of course! Thanks, Lidelle..."
Amitie smiled, which made Lidelle smile as well. The two exited the school and they saw Raffina and Klug, who were bickering to each other.
Lidelle: "U-uh-oh… It seems as though Raffina and Klug are arguing again."
Amitie: "Not again! Aren't all of us supposed to be friends?!"
Lidelle: "... I don't think that's how it is for those two, Amitie…"
Amitie: "W-well, I mean… we have to break it up, right?"
Lidelle: "I-I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do here. Maybe we should get help and- Wh-what are you doing, Amitie?!"
Amitie: "This needs to be stopped, Lidelle! Things between those two seem to be getting worse and worse… and I don't wanna see them fight like this!"
After she finished saying that, Amitie ran over to Raffina and Klug to have them stop.
Lidelle: "Ooh, Amitie… Why did you have to go and poke the hornets' nest?"
Amitie: "*pant* Guys, stop arguing like this! I don't understand why you two always have to bother each other. Can't we all be friends?"
Raffina: "While Klug here is being a jerk? I don't think so, Amitie."
Klug: "Oh please, like you're any better than me…"
Raffina: "What was that…?!"
Amitie: "Stop it! Both of you! This whole thing is getting silly; we're not little kids, you know! … *sigh* Can you tell me what happened this time?"
Raffina and Klug didn't say anything at first, most likely because they were legitimately surprised just how furious Amitie got for a bit. As Lidelle watched things unfold, she was just as shocked as they were. A minute passed before someone spoke up.
Raffina: "... If you wish to know, Amitie… then I'll tell you. Truth be told: This wasn't one person starting the argument; both me and Klug began bickering to each other at the same time. Before long, it turned into more of your typical argument in terms of structure. As for what made us angry at each other this time… Um, how do I describe it...? A portal appeared near us a few minutes ago and weird energy came out of it."
Klug: "This energy… It must have messed with us on its own and we assumed that the other person did that. So Raffina thought I did something to her, and vice-versa."
Amitie: "A portal just showed up with this weird energy? Wh-where is it?"
Raffina: "It's over here."
Raffina showed Amitie where the supposed portal was at. The latter didn't know what to make of it at first, since this obviously wasn't the kind of portal that she was used to seeing; this one was different. Amitie began to feel the strange energy that Raffina and Klug mentioned.
Amitie: "What the heck is this energy? I've never felt anything like it before…"
Klug: "... It doesn't seem to be magic, so I'm not sure what it could be."
As Klug said that, Lidelle came up to the three.
Lidelle: "I-it kind of scares me…"
Amitie: "Lidelle, you followed me?"
Lidelle: "I-I wanted to see if you were all right, Amitie… so I followed behind you. And that's when I heard about this portal... and felt the energy coming from it."
Raffina: "... Anyway, what do we do? What if the portal doesn't go away and something happens?"
Klug: "Well, if anyone in Primp Town knows about teleportation… then I would say that Lemres is the best person to ask about-"
Just before Klug could finish speaking, the portal suddenly became unstable. It began to suck in everything around it in the immediate area, including the four kids. They tried holding on to whatever they could with their hands.
Everyone: "Wooooooaaaah!"
Amitie: "What the heck is happeniiiing?!"
Klug: "I wish I knew!"
Raffina: "I should've known it would be a bad idea to show you this portal, Amitie!"
Lidelle: "I-I'm so scared!"
Klug: "Hrgh-! Aaaaaaaah!"
Klug lost his grip and was sucked into the portal. Lidelle also lost her grip and merely squeaked as the portal took her.
Lidelle: "Kyah-!"
Amitie: "Klug! Lidelle!"
Raffina: "Amitie, whatever you do: Don't let go!"
Amitie: "I'm trying not to, but-! *gasp*"
Raffina: "...! Hegh-! Hrrrgh!"
Amitie lost her grip, but Raffina managed to catch and hold on to her with one hand.
Amitie: "R-Raffina, you saved me!"
Raffina: "Save the thanks for later…! I'm not sure if I can hold on to this tree trunk AND you at the same time…!"
As Raffina said that, the portal suction became even stronger.
Raffina: "What?! Its suction is even stronger now?! … Crap-!"
Raffina lost her grip on the tree trunk, so she planted her feet to the ground as best she could and held Amitie with both her arms.
Amitie: "What does this portal want from us?!"
Raffina: "I don't know… and I don't care…!"
And then, the portal's suction became ridiculous and Raffina couldn't keep her feet on the ground. So, she and Amitie were quickly sent into the portal.
Amitie and Raffina: "Aaaaaaaaaaah!"
Meanwhile, in another dimension… A boy named Jak, and his "friend" Daxter, snuck away from their village in the thick of night to go to a little place called Misty Island. It was mostly Jak that wanted to go there. Daxter on the other hand, tried to convince Jak that going to Misty Island was a BAD idea as they landed.
Daxter: "Hey! Uh, Jak? Old green stuff told us not to come here. Aaand you don't care, do you? … *sigh* We'll be in so much trouble if Samos ever finds out about this. He said that Misty Island is extremely dangerous and whatnot. Personally, I want to get out of here right now and save myself the trouble of being punished."
The two boys walked around for a bit before discovering something unfolding. Upon seeing this, they hid behind a decently tall rock and watched. A bunch of creatures with red fur stood by some ancient site, as though they were waiting for something. These creatures were called lurkers and they weren't exactly nice to anything that wasn't one themselves. Eventually, two figures suddenly appeared in front of the lurkers and they were both floating above the stairs of the site. One of the figures slowly descended before landing on one of the stairs, and the other one continued to levitate in place. The latter, who looked more important... began to speak to the lurkers, as though he was giving them a command.
?: "Continue your search for artifacts and eco. *gasping for air* If the locals possess Precursor items, you know what to do with them."
The aforementioned first figure, who was female, then started to add to what the second just said.
?: "Deal with anyone who strays from the village; we will attack it in due time."
Hearing this, Jak and Daxter briefly looked at each before ducking down and going down from the rock. And it's good thing they did, because they would've been seen by a lurker. Our duo then explored a different part of Misty Island, where a pool filled with an ominous-looking dark purple substance was stationed at.
Daxter: "What are we doing here anyway, Jak? This place gives me the creeps…"
A few seconds after saying that, Daxter tripped on something.
Daxter: "Woah-! Oof!"
Jak looked behind to see that his friend had fallen to the ground. Knowing that, he grinned as he shook his head. Daxter lifted himself up and looked behind. The thing that made him trip turned out to be an artifact of sorts.
Daxter: "Huh? … Ooh, stupid Precursor junk."
While Daxter was saying that and picking up the artifact, Jak was taking a look at the dark purple substance swirling about in the pool. Soon enough, Daxter saw it as well and he didn't know what it was.
Daxter: "Ick! What is that dark ooze? It sure don't look friendly to me. *breathes in and blows dust away* The sage yaps on about the Precursors that built this place all the time: "Where did they go? Why did they build this crap?"."
Right after Daxter said that, he tossed the artifact away and Jak caught it. In doing so, the artifact turned red and made a sound.
Daxter: "Now, I like Precursor orbs and power cells as much as the next guy... but if you ask me, they must have been real losers."
Immediately following that, Daxter noticed the same artifact that he tossed out had turned red.
Daxter: "Woah! How did you do that?"
Jak: "Uh…"
Daxter: "...! Uh-oh... Jak, I think we're in trouble!"
Suddenly, a bone armor lurker showed up behind the duo and it was attempting to harm them. It was there that Jak had an idea; he was going to chuck the artifact at the lurker.
Jak: "Hiyah!"
The artifact exploded upon hitting the Lurker and all was well and good. In doing so, though, Jak was blasted away by the explosion and he was knocked into Daxter. And this caused Daxter to fall into that pool of "dark ooze". Jak realized this and looked back to see if Daxter was okay. A few seconds later, a little furry creature popped out the ooze and landed on the ground. As it turned out, it was Daxter and he had transformed into an ottsel. Ottsels are a cross between an otter and a weasel, and Daxter didn't notice that he turned into one… at first.
Daxter: "Ugh… Man, that stung! I told you we shouldn't have come here! But nooo, you didn't want to listen to me!"
Jak: "Uh…"
Daxter: "What?"
Jak's reaction to Daxter turning into an ottsel made the latter look at himself… and scream.
Daxter: "... AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH! Okay, okay! I'm fine... I'm fine. ... AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!"
Since Daxter was now an ottsel, he and Jak had no choice but to go back to the village and tell Samos, the sage of green eco, what happened. However, they had to wait until morning arrived. So, when Jak and Daxter got back to the village, they went to sleep. The morning couldn't have come sooner for them and they went to the green sage's hut. They tried to creep in, but Samos already knew that they were by the doorway and called them out on it.
Samos: "What in green tarnation do you two want?"
Daxter: "We-we-we was, they was-! I-I was-"
Samos: "Don't tell me! Instead of heeding my wisdom, the two of you went mucking around at the only place that I told you not to go: Misty Island!"
Daxter: "That's right! And then we-"
Samos: "And Daxter, you finally took a much-needed bath... but in a pool filled with dark eco."
Daxter: "Look, old man, are you gonna keep yappin', or are you gonna help me out of this mess?!"
Samos: "I'm gonna keep yappin'! Because in my professional opinion, the change is an improvement. And besides... I couldn't help you even if I wanted to."
Daxter: "Whaaat?!"
Samos: "There's only one person who has studied dark eco long enough to have a chance at returning you to your previous form: Gol Acheron, the sage. But he lives far to the north; far, far to the north! Nobody has spoken to him in ages. I would teleport you there, but I can't do that either: None of the three sages that maintain the other warp gates have seen fit to turn their ends on for quite a while! The only other way north is by foot through the Fire Canyon, but its volcanic soil is hot enough to melt Precursor metal; you can't just walk through it."
As soon as Samos mentioned that, a girl around Jak's age came by to speak. This girl's name is Keira and is someone who works with machinery of sorts.
Keira: "But you could fly OVER it... if you had a zoomer equipped with a heat shield, that is. And it just so happens that I'm working on such a thing at this very moment. All I would need is twenty power cells to give it enough energy to withstand the canyon's heat. Isn't that right, Daddy?"
When Keira was saying all of that, Daxter was making some macho-man poses to get her attention. However, the ottsel was left unnoticed… Samos took in what Keira said, and slowly nodded.
Samos: "Yes, Keira, that might work... But where are a boy, and a half… going to get twenty power cells from?"
Keira: "The villagers, of course. Most of them have a power cell or two stashed away somewhere. And even if they aren't willing to just give them away... greasing their palms with a few Precursor orbs should do the trick. And I bet there are even more of them out in the wild, just waiting for some brave adventurer to find them."
Daxter: "Well, we've got one brave adventurer, at least…"
Samos: "Brave adventurer? You two couldn't find your way out of the village without training! Before you do anything else, you better go through the warp gate and get some practice on Geyser Rock."
Daxter: "Uh... we won't find any more of that dark, gooey eco stuff, will we? 'Cause I'd hate to fall in again and turn into you!"
Samos: "Get in there! Before I turn you both into ferns!"
Jak and Daxter looked at each other for a bit before jumping into the warp gate within the green sage's hut. They were quickly transported to Geyser Rock to get a feel for things to come. When they got there, Keira got in touch with them by using a hovering communicator of sorts.
Keira: "Jak, this is me, Keira. I'm speaking to you via this special communicator. With this, my father and I can give you advice any time you need some help. Anyway, the egg-shaped things you see floating in front of you are Precursor orbs. Collect enough of them, and some of the villagers will give you a power cell in exchange. Just beyond those orbs is a power cell, the most important Precursor artifact you can find. You need to collect twenty power cells so I can power the heat shield for the A-Grav Zoomer."
Jak walked through the short path of Precursor orbs, grabbed them, and got to the power cell. He picked it up in a grandiose way and Daxter did a little victory dance of sorts. After that was done, Daxter saw a box that was jumping in place.
Daxter: "Alright… Uh, question: What's in that hoppin' box, Keira?"
Keira: "Oh, that's one of my scout flies! I sent seven of them to each area to look for power cells, but the lurkers must have captured them all…"
Daxter: "*sigh* Let me guess... You want us to rescue them all, too?"
Keira: "I would like it if you both go out of your way to do so, Daxter."
Daxter: "*grumble* Alright, we'll get your scout flies…"
Keira: "Thanks! I promise I'll repay you with something down the line."
Daxter: "But how do we get 'em out of those boxes?"
Samos: "I believe hitting the boxes with enough force will do the trick. Jak, try jumping in the air, and then dive down onto that box there, hands first; it might be enough to break it."
The communicator went away and Jak did what Samos suggested. Sure enough, it worked and Jak got the scout fly from the first box. With that done, he continued to go through Geyser Rock, with Daxter perched upon his shoulder. Meanwhile… back at the green sage's hut, Samos returned to what he was doing before Jak and Daxter came to him that morning. However, this wouldn't last for very long… Something, or rather someone else… was spat out from the warp gate, and it was Lidelle.
Lidelle: "Kyaaaah-! Oof! … Ooooh…"
Lidelle flew right into a wall and smacked against it. This caused some pain for her, and her vision was blurry for a bit as her body fell to the hut's floor.
Samos: "What in the-?!"
Keira: "*gasp* Oh my goodness! Are you alright?!"
Keira rushed over to the girl out of concern. Meanwhile, Lidelle's vision slowly came back to her as she got up.
Lidelle: "Ugh… … Hmm…? ...! Wh-who are you people?!"
Samos: "H-hey, hey, hey… Easy there, child; we won't hurt you. Anyway, it seems you're not from around here… Did you come from Rock Village? Or perhaps the Volcanic Crater?"
Lidelle: "Huh...? N-no? I don't know what either of those places are, mister…"
Upon hearing this response from Lidelle, Samos looked at Keira, appearing to be confused.
Samos: "She's not from either of those places? Then where did this girl come from?"
Keira: "How should I know? It's not like I've ever seen her before."
Samos took a bit to think about what just happened before facing Lidelle once more and spoke to her.
Samos: "Hmm… Alright, then... *throat clear* Girl, who are you and where are you from?"
Lidelle: "M-my name is Lidelle, and I'm from a place called Primp Town."
Samos: "Lidelle, huh? And Primp Town? Why, I've never heard of such a place before... In any case, I should probably introduce myself. I am Samos. And that's Keira, my wonderful daughter."
Keira: "Yes, I am!"
Lidelle: "I-it's nice to meet you two…"
Samos: "Lidelle, if you don't know this place... then how did you even get here?"
Lidelle: "A-a couple of my friends found this portal that suddenly appeared near our school, and it had this strange energy to it. It was unlike anything my and I had ever felt before. See, my world is filled with things and people that hold magical energy of sorts. But what we felt from that portal… that energy wasn't magic; it was something else and I don't know what it is. Either way, we were suddenly being sucked into it by force and I was the second person to go through."
Samos: "Is that so? … What did this… "portal" look like to you, Lidelle?"
Lidelle didn't answer right away, and instead, looked around the hut before seeing the warp gate that was stationed nearby. This caused Lidelle to gasp, since the warp gate here had a striking resemblance to that of the portal that sucked her in.
Lidelle: "E-exactly like this!"
Samos: "Exactly like the warp gate here?"
Lidelle: "Yes! This has the same kind of energy coming off from it, I can tell."
Samos: "Well, that explains a lot, actually... You and your friends must have gone through a special warp gate that was temporarily powered by blue eco. Not like you would know what blue eco is, but that was probably the energy you were feeling."
After Samos said that, two more individuals came out of the warp gate. Of course, these two were Amitie and Raffina. They were both smacked into the same wall that Lidelle collided with, and had the same painful experience.
Amitie and Raffina: "Oof!"
Amitie: "Ow, that really hurt…"
Raffina: "Ugh… Couldn't that thing have just sent us flying into soft grass or something? Seriously, that was uncalled for…"
Lidelle saw them and she was immediately delighted, knowing that they were okay.
Lidelle: "A-Amitie! Raffina! You're okay!"
Amitie: "L-Lidelle?! Is that you?!"
Lidelle: "Yes."
Amitie: "Ooh, I'm so glad that you're okay too, Lidelle!"
Amitie hugged Lidelle for a bit before letting go and Samos looked at the two new faces that just appeared. After that, he faced Lidelle once more.
Samos: "I assume those two are your friends?"
Lidelle: "Y-yes, they are."
Raffina: "Uh, "friend" is a bit of a strong word here. I'm not really friends with these two. Anyway, who are you?"
This prompted Samos to tell Raffina and Amitie who he and Keira were. Amitie and Raffina, in turn, introduced themselves to Samos and Keira. After all of the introductions were made, Samos brought the girls up to speed concerning the situation, based on what Lidelle said. While that was happening Keira walked away from the green sage's hut with her end on the communicator. After Samos went over everything that he and Lidelle talked about to Amitie and Raffina, everyone stayed quiet for a bit. Eventually, Raffina broke the silence by speaking.
Raffina: "So, that must mean this is a completely different world from our own... I've never seen a village like this before."
Samos: "And that would explain why I've never heard of Primp Town until now. I admit, it's fascinating to know that you three came from a different world."
Raffina: "Actually, speaking of us: There was someone else around our age that was sucked into one of those "special warp gates" you mentioned, Samos. I don't like him very much, but I realize that he could be in danger and we need to see if he's okay. Did he come out from that warp gate there?"
Samos: "N-no, I haven't seen a boy come out of that warp gate yet today. There was a boy that went INTO the warp gate... but he's a resident here in Sandover Village. Aside from that, I can only guess that this other friend you speak of ended up arriving at either Rock Village or in the Volcanic Crater in one way or another. I would teleport you three to those places with the warp gate, but the other sages of this land don't seem to have the warp gates to their huts activated as of now."
Raffina: "*sigh* That's bothersome… *gasp* Wait a minute! A-are we trapped here?! Can we not go back to Primp Town?!"
Samos: "Not when it's in a world where warp gates like this one don't really exist. At least, that's what I would say here… But if you three were able to travel here from a world unknown to this hut, then there HAS to be a way for you to return from whence you came. We just have to find it in due time."
Lidelle: "U-um, Samos? You mentioned blue eco earlier… What is it?"
Samos: "Well, blue eco is- Actually, I should probably tell you about eco as a whole, because there's more than one type of eco."
Lidelle: "More than one type…?"
Samos: "Yes. There's blue eco, red eco, yellow eco, green eco... and dark eco. You heard me mention that there were sages of this land, right? You see, in this land, there are sages that specialize in a specific eco type. For instance, I'm the green sage and I specialize in green eco. As for what eco is in general, it's kind of like a source of energy. Eco is the lifeblood of every living thing in this world… All living things from here are made of eco, no exception."
Keira: "As a bit of a side note, you also can find concentrated eco from crystals and ore in caves."
Samos: "That being said... not everyone here has the ability to channel eco through their body and use it. No, only people who have the will and determination to seek what they're looking for in life can use eco in that way. And even then, there are only a select few that can channel multiple types of eco. As for the types: Green eco revitalizes living things, giving them life. Red eco strengthens living things, providing extra muscle power. Yellow eco is quite similar to red eco when it comes to strengthening living things, but it acts as a long-ranged weapon of sorts. And blue eco contains the energy of motion, enhancing the speed of living things, as well as powering up technology that was built by the Precursors long ago."
The overabundance of information was getting to Amitie and she was having a difficult time trying to follow along with everything that was mentioned since arriving in the green sage's hut.
Amitie: "Ooh, this stuff is making my brain hurt... It's all so hard to follow."
Lidelle: "I'm sure you'll get it eventually, Amitie..."
Raffina: "Interesting… Who were these Precursors?"
Samos: "No one knows… We only have descriptions of what the Precursor might have been like to go off from; they were only really spoken of in legends. *sigh* I have spent much of my life searching for the answers to questions that my father, and my father's father, failed to find. Who were the Precursors? Why did they create the vast monoliths and various artifacts that litter our planet? How did they harness eco, the life energy of the world? What was their purpose? And why did they vanish? I have asked the plants, but they do not remember. And so, the plants asked the rocks... but the rocks do not recall."
Lidelle: "E-even the rocks?"
Samos: "Yes, even the rocks do not recall…"
Lidelle: "... Well then... … Oh-! What about dark eco, Samos? That stuff sounds bad…"
Samos: "Oh, well, it IS bad... but it can also be good when used in the right hands. And there's only one person I know of that can use dark eco for good: Gol Acheron. He lives far to the north, way past that path you can see off in the distance. Also, I should mention this: He's the only person that might know how to get you three back to your own world. When I last spoke to him years ago, Gol claimed that he visited other worlds while studying the intricacies of dark eco."
Amitie, Raffina, and Lidelle: "H-he can take us back to our own world?!"
Samos: "Maybe, maybe not. It's not like I know for sure... And you would need to travel far from here just to get to him. On top of that, immediately past that aforementioned path is the Fire Canyon, and its volcanic soil is hot enough to melt Precursor metal."
Raffina: "Then how do we get through it? Tell us."
Samos: "Patience, child! There's no need for you to rush things here… *sigh* There is a way, but I'll let Keira tell you that we she ret-"
Keira: "There's no need, Daddy; I have returned. And according to my calculations, Jak should be returning right about… now."
As if on cue, Jak and Daxter came out of the warp gate with three power cells and appeared before everyone. Amitie, Raffina, and Lidelle were all surprised by the sudden appearance of a boy unknown to them, as well as what looked to be a small furry pet of sorts. The animal landed face-first on the floor after being spat out of the warp gate.
Daxter: "Ow-!"
Samos: "Ah, I see you two are back from Geyser Rock. Good training boys, but that's nothing compared to the challenges that lie ahead."
Daxter: "Ah, they're no problem! We got the moves, eh Jak? We'd love to stay and chat, Big Green, but we're uh, itching to get on with our- ... Heeey, who're these girls?"
Lidelle: "D-did that thing just talk?"
Raffina: "I think it did, Lidelle… and it's really creeping me out with that grin on its face."
Amitie: "Ooh, it's so cute!"
Amitie rushed over to Daxter and embraced him in her arms. Soon enough, Daxter's body was being squeezed tightly and he didn't like it at all.
Daxter: "Ack-! S-stop it...! As much as I love to be embraced by a cutie such as yourself, you're squeezin' the daylights outta me!"
Amitie: "Huh? O-oh, sorry. Ehehehehe..."
Amitie put Daxter down gently and the latter rushed back to Jak's side.
Daxter: "Sheesh! There's literally no restraint on that girl, Jak! Anyway, can someone please tell me who these girls are?"
Samos: "*sigh* Very well, I'll answer that question of yours, Daxter."
Feeling annoyed with the outcome, Samos reluctantly told Jak and Daxter about who Amitie, Raffina, and Lidelle were, as well as their story.
Daxter: "You mean to tell me that these girls all came from a different world? Are you crazy, old man?!"
Samos: "No, I'm not crazy! Look, we have to accept that as the truth because I didn't see exactly how they traveled here in the first place. Also, they don't seem to be lying whatsoever... especially in the case of Lidelle here. She definitely doesn't look like the type that lies."
Lidelle: "I-I can assure you, little furry creature… it's the truth."
Daxter: "Hey! I am NOT a little furry creature! I was merely turned into one because of whatever the heck dark eco is, and it sucks!"
Lidelle: "Dark eco made you look like this?"
Daxter: "Yes! Geez, you're slow with catching on to things."
Lidelle: "N-no, that would be Amitie..."
Daxter: "... You know what? You're right, Lidelle..."
Raffina: "Ugh, can we just get back on track? Samos, you were going to have Keira tell us how we we're going to be able to pass through the Fire Canyon before she interrupted you, right?"
Samos: "Yes, thank you for reminding me. At least someone here aside from me wants to take things seriously. Keira?"
Keira: "Alright girls, so in order to pass through Fire Canyon, you need to be able to fly over it with a zoomer."
Amitie: "What's a zoomer?"
Keira: "Well, to put it in simple terms, it's a flying vehicle that goes pretty fast. Anyway, just having a zoomer by itself won't be enough because it'll overheat far too quickly and the thing will blow up."
Raffina: "Wait, you mean to tell me that this zoomer thing will BLOW UP if we don't use it carefully there? But if that happens while we're on it… won't we die?!"
Keira: "I know that sounds even more dangerous than walking through the path by foot... but trust me, I have a workaround for this. Jak, do you still have one of those power cells from Geyser Rock?"
Jak temporarily gave one of the power cells he got while traversing Geyser Rock to Keira.
Keira: "Thanks! So right now, I'm in the middle of giving a heat shield enough energy to allow the zoomer to withstand the volcanic heat for a short time. However, I can't do that in full until I get my hands on twenty of something. See this? This is a power cell. One of the most important Precursor artifacts around. Jak here has already collected three of them, because as it turns out: He and Daxter are going to go to the far north to see Gol, too."
Daxter: "Yeah, that's because I wanna change back to how I was before falling in that dark eco! I was a person not too long ago, just like you guys."
Amitie: "Then I guess we'll be working together. I like working with others, it feels like I'm sharing the experience with my friends!"
Daxter: "Anything to make me turn back into my old self as quickly as possible, I'm perfectly fine with."
Raffina: "We're not going to be collecting these power cells for you, you know. We're doing this for our own reason, which is getting back to our world as soon as possible. We just happen to be collecting the same things and going to the same place to meet the same person, that's all. With that said, how do we collect these power cells?"
Upon Raffina asking about that, Keira explained to the girls what she already told Jak and Daxter concerning power cells. This included the whole Precursor orb thing, as well as scout flies where seven are trapped (by lurkers) within boxes in each area, and the seventh one that's saved will have a power cell with it. And then she told them that they can also find power cells lying around at specific spots. By the end of the explanation, Raffina and Lidelle felt like they had a good grasp of how things work here. Amitie, though? She was overwhelmed with this information dump, in addition to the previous one. Therefore, Lidelle had to put it in simpler words for her to understand. After that was done, Amitie finally understood at least most of what she, Raffina, Lidelle, and Jak all had to do. Raffina was thankful that Amitie was no longer confused about most things and looked forward to possibly being able to return to Primp Town.
Keira: "I assume you three now know what needs to be done?"
Amitie, Raffina, and Lidelle: "Yeah!"
Keira: "Good!"
Daxter: "Alright, well... as I was going to say: We'd love to stay and chat, Big Green, but we're uh, itching to get on with our adventures."
Samos: "Fine, fine. "Adventure" away then. And while you're out "adventuring", boys... why don't you make yourselves useful? My green eco collectors are clogged again and they need to be cleared up. Head out to the far side of the beach and clear them out, why don't you? Follow the lamps; they'll take you right to them. Now, all of you... get OUT of here!"
With that yell, the kids all ran out of the green sage's hut and stopped at the entrance part of the bridge that leads out of the hut to catch their breaths.
Raffina: "*pant* *sigh* For an old man, he can yell very loudly…"
Lidelle: "Th-that was scary…"
Daxter: "That's Samos for ya."
Amitie: "Anyway, it's great to be working with you, Jak! I hope we can become great friends!"
Jak: "Uh..."
Raffina: "He's not much of a talker, is he?"
Daxter: "Nope, he's actually pretty quiet most of the time, hotstuff."
What Daxter just said really bothered Raffina, and for good reason. Raffina took it as Daxter flirting with her and she had no reason to like him. Her fist shook, as if she was about to punch Daxter. Then, she glared directly at him.
Raffina: "If you ever call me that again… I'll kick you high into the sky. You got that?!"
Daxter: "Y-yes, I get it! Please don't kick me like that! My body as it is wouldn't be able to stand up to it!"
Raffina: "Then I would suggest you stop flirting with me, lest you completely ruin your chances of turning back to normal. ... *sigh* At any rate, let's go and get those power cells. We should probably split up, so that we can cover more ground."
Everyone agreed that it would probably be the best way to go about collecting enough power cells for that heat shield and went off in their own paths. Meanwhile… A figure that had stayed in a place called "the farthest edge of spacetime" for quite some time now was made aware of Amitie and her friends ending up in a different world without using the power of Puyos. He looked at their current situation and frowned.
?: "... So it seems those kids can't get back to their world on their own. Without the power of Puyos, they're stuck in that strange world... and there's no way for them to return. At least, not to my knowledge, anyway. And I'm not allowed to leave here, unless someone else… … No. I'm the only one that can feasibly do this job. I can't just pass the duty off to someone else for as long as I live. *sigh* I wish there was something I could do to help them, but I can't. … Hold on… Who are these Precursors? This is the first time that I've heard of people with that title. Are they gods? Or are they just individuals who hold some kind of high status? … I guess I'll be watching over Amitie and her friends to learn whatever they're learning..."
So with that: The lone figure sat down and began to watch this adventure unfold, as though he was seeing a movie...
Author's Notes: It has now been established that if Amitie and her friends want to go back home, then they need to go to the far north. So in a way, they have the same end goal as Jak and Daxter. In order to reach that location, they will need to work together by collecting Precursor orbs, freeing scout flies, and most importantly: Getting power cells. As for how I'm going to be handling this from here on out… the narrative will have all of the characters go through the locations from Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, and make them perform specific tasks that only they can do. So in other words, they'll have special abilities and whatnot to help them get to certain places that other characters can't. Yeeep, it's going to be like one of thooose collect-a-thons from a gameplay perspective. So think of it as like SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom or Donkey Kong 64 where the player switches between playable characters… kind of.
As for the character specific abilities, some of them will be established during the next couple of chapters or so. For now though, I'll say this: Jak's moveset will be pretty much the same as it was in the actual game. Amitie and Lidelle's movesets are going to be geared more towards exploration. And Raffina's moveset will be similar to Jak's in a lot of ways, but with some distinct differences. With that in mind, the game is on: Things need to be collected and it's up to these four kids to get all of them, should they wish to reach their final destination. And yes, I did just say ALL of them. This will be them going for the secret ending that was in Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, by collecting every single power cell scattered across the land. So yeah, expect this story to play out similarly to the original game in many areas.
Other than that, each of the characters will go to specific locations on their own and experience the things that are in store for them. I think it'll make for a bit more of a unique experience, especially if the character going to a certain location isn't Jak. So…! How will everything unfold from here? What will happen when everyone eventually reaches the far north? Will Amitie, Raffina, Lidelle, and Klug be able to return to Primp Town? These questions and more will be explored in Puyo Puyo and the Precursor Legacy, starting with… Chapter 1: Sandover Village and Sentinel Beach.
