Rain poured down over the fancy place settings. Elizabeth Swann sat crying in her wedding dress under an archway with Narcissa's arm around her shoulders.

"I don't understand why he didn't come," Elizabeth said between sobs.

"Something must have happened. Will wouldn't just leave. He loves you." Narcissa told her sister. "Besides, he knows I would hunt him down and murder him if he did," she added in an attempt to bring some levity to the situation.

"I don't understand why the boy didn't turn up," said Weatherby who was pacing behind them. Narcissa looked past him and saw will being dragged towards them by several East India Trading company guards.

"I think that might explain it," she said pointing to the approaching men.

"Will!" cried Elizabeth running to her fiancée. Two guards tried to stop her but she pushed past him embracing the chained man.

"What's going on Narcissa asked Will who shrugged clearly as confused as them. Looking Elizabeth over Will smiled slightly.

"You look beautiful."

"You know it's bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding," Elizabeth replied tearfully.

"I think we've already got enough bad luck," muttered Narcissa.

"Well that explains the uninvited guests," quipped Will.

"You! Order your men to stand down and remove those chains at once!" ordered Weatherby pushing closer. The guards made no move to obey. A man stepped from behind Will and the guards. He was tall and thin with a smug aristocratic face. He wore a blue uniform and tricorn beneath which was a white wig.

"Governor Weatherby Swann, it's been too long."

"Cutler Beckett," said Weatherby disdainfully. Narcissa now vaguely recognized the man as an officer who had at one point been trying to get in good with the Governor to increase his power. Weatherby had rightfully seen through his slimy attitude and turned him away.

"It's Lord now actually," corrected Beckett.

"Lord or not you have no right to arrest this man!" insisted Weatherby. Narcissa admired her adoptive father's courage.

"In fact, I do. Mr. Mercer?" said Beckett. Another uniformed man stepped forward

"The warrant for the arrest of one William Turner," he handed it to Weatherby and Narcissa peered over his shoulder her brow furrowed.

"This warrant is for Elizabeth Swann," said Weatherby voicing Narcissa's confusion. Mercer raised an eyebrow.

"Is it? That's annoying. My mistake. Arrest her." Two guards grabbed Elizabeth Narcissa moved to stop them but was held back

"On what charges?" She demanded furiously but was ignored.

"Aha. Here's the one for William Turner." said Mercer. "And I have another one for a Mr. James Norrington. Is he present?"

"What are the charges?" Narcissa once again demanded.

"Commodore Norrington resigned his commission some months ago." said Weatherby. This was true. A while back a message had arrived with Norrington's resignation. Narcissa still had no idea why the most committed man in the Navy that she had ever met would give up everything he had worked for.

"I didn't believe that wasn't the answer to the question I asked," said Mercer.

"Obviously he's not here," scoffed Narcissa receiving a glare from Mercer.

"Lord Beckett. In the category of questions not answered..." began Weatherby in an irritated tone.

"We are under the jurisdiction of the king's governor of Port Royal and you will tell us what we are charged with," said Elizabeth sharply. Finally, Beckett answered.

"The charge is "conspiring to set free a man convicted of crimes against the Crown and Empire and condemned to death, for which the punishment, regrettably, is also death." Narcissa's eyes widened.

"Perhaps you remember a certain pirate named Jack Sparrow."

"Captain," snapped Will, Elizabeth and Narcissa.

"Captain Jack Sparrow. I thought you might.

"This is ridiculous!" said Narcissa. Beckett at last acknowledged her.

"Ah yes, Miss Davis or should I say Barbossa, is also under arrest with a charge of piracy due to her parentage." Two more guards grabbed Narcissa who struggled. Clearly see the shock at the usage of her true name Beckett smirked his eyes raking over her in a way that made Narcissa both disgusted and uncomfortable.

"Any information can be found for the right price. Take them away!" Narcissa glared at Beckett as they were dragged away.

PotC

It had been several hours since Narcissa and Elizabeth were thrown in jail.

"This is certainly NOT what I planned for my wedding day," sighed ruefully.

"I'd suggest you get your head checked if it was," replied Narcissa. "The real question though is what Beckett wants. There had to be more to this than meets the eye." Her mind was still reeling and she had spent the better part of the last several hours trying to fathom that question with no success.

There was the sound of footsteps and Will suddenly rushed in followed by Governor Swann.

"You can't be here!" said one of the guards.

"I think you'll find he can." said Weatherby.

"Mr. Swann..." began the guard.

"GOVERNOR Swann," corrected Weatherby sharply. "I'm not wearing this wig to keep my head warm." Narcissa smiled slightly at the sarcasm. Something she rarely saw from the governor.

Will dropped to his knees in front of the cell holding Elizabeth's hand.

"Beckett wants to get Jack's compass." he said. Narcissa furrowed her brow.

"Why would he want Jack's compass?" asked Elizabeth.

"Does it matter?" asked Will.

"Yes, it does. This is clearly bigger than us," Narcissa interjected, slightly exasperated by her friend's shortsightedness. If Beckett wanted something it couldn't be good.

"Look, I find Jack and convince him to come back to Port Royal and all the charges will be dropped," said Will.

"You make it sound so easy. You do realize that Jack LEFT Port Royal to escape execution. He's not going to come prancing back just because you say please," Narcissa said skeptically.

"Narcissa makes a good point. It seems we shall have to find another way to secure Elizabeth and Narcissa's freedom," said Governor Swann. Will glanced up looking slightly offended.

"Is that a lack of faith in Jack or in me?"

"That you would risk your life for him does not mean Sparrow would do the same for you." Weatherby said.

"He's got a point Will. Jack will always put his own survival first," agreed Narcissa. It wasn't that she doubted Will's conviction but she doubted that anybody could actually convince Jack Sparrow to do anything if it didn't benefit him. The pirate didn't really do things out of the good of his heart. Then again that could be said for most pirates.

"I have faith in you. Both of you." said Elizabeth. "It's Beckett who can't be trusted."

"Now that IS true. Even if you do get Jack Beckett probably wouldn't release us." Narcissa said.

"If I had never set Jack free..." began Will.

"You did the right thing," interrupted Elizabeth.

"I never thought you would bear the consequences of my actions. Either of you."

"I share the consequences," corrected Elizabeth.

"And they still would have got me on the parentage charge," added Narcissa.

"Where will you start?" asked Elizabeth.

"Tortuga. And I won't stop searching till I find him. And then I'll come back and marry you." Will told her fervently.

"Properly?" asked Elizabeth flirtatiously.

"Eagerly. If you'll still have me." Narcissa glanced away feeling slightly awkward.

"If it weren't for these bars I'd have you already," Elizabeth told him and they kissed passionately. Governor Swann coughed also looking uncomfortable.

Finally, Will pulled away and left leaving the two girls alone in the dank cell. As she watched them go Narcissa swore to herself that whatever it took she would find a way to escape and protect Elizabeth. Beckett would not win.
