Here is the second chapter.

It ended up becoming bigger than I thought, being almost 2 and a half chapters in one, but I found it necessary to present all the necessary elements for the arc.

Chapter 2 - Headaches

A storage room in a medieval castle, that is where I am at the moment.

It's been 3 weeks since I was accepted into the Golden Dawn and it was certainly the most stressful days of my life, even though I don't remember anything before.

Honestly, I think I'm going to collapse at any moment, I don't know what to do in the situation I find myself in.

"Why don't you review everything you've done these three weeks and come up with a solution for your stress, your situation is better than mine at least." A woman I met recently says this out of my sight, as if she had appeared from the shadows.

"Are you reading my thoughts, grumpy cat?". I look at her, pretending to shiver.

"You're pretty insensitive for calling me that." She responds with a frown. "You know the things I can do, reading minds isn't one of them. You just didn't realize you were speaking your thoughts aloud".

Damn it! I need to be careful with this, I can't start speaking my thoughts in public, especially now that I know things that someone from my "social caste" shouldn't know.

Noticing my discomfort the cat says.

"Seriously, if you ever need to talk to someone, I'm here"

"Ahhh... You're right, where do I begin?"

I start to think about the most important points, only three moments come to me that showed me not only my place in this world, but also that of the rest of the people present in this castle.

"I know where to start, I'm going to talk about my amicably forbidden relationship with my best friend, Le Fay Pendragon.

First Headache

The Loser and The Goldilocks

Unfortunately, my and Le Fay's paths didn't cross during the first week at the Golden Dawn.

The first thing that happens when a person passes the Golden Dawn aptitude tests it's the adjusts the new students in the so-called "social castes" internal to the organization, symbolized by the color of the medal in the shape of a triangle on the necklace given to all students.

For those who show the least enough mana and talent for magic are given the bronze triangle, normally these students are rarely chosen to be mentored and their only means of survival is to accept the tasks that no one else wants to do like washing, cook or serve as a test subject for students of a higher hierarchy.

Golden Dawn offers neither free food nor accommodation for students, so no option but to work.

For those who have enough talent or experience with magic receive the necklaces with the silver triangles they are usually offered mentorship from more than one more experienced member and if they prove service they can receive a grant for their studies, projects and residency. in addition to being able to be part of missions that are called more humanly accepted by them.

The highest hierarchy is those who receive the golden triangle and are honored to be called "those who will bring a golden dawn to our world".

Apparently there are around ten mages who have this rare perk, by comparison most teachers have a silver triangle.

They must be treated as true gods among mortals and common mages, they are the ones who represent the maximum capacity of the human race and are given the best that the association can propose, contracts with high level beings, services such as hunting mythological beings and the gratuitousness of all the services of the castle.

I imagine they give all this to encourage their permanence, as they would probably be accepted by any faction that wants to be a part.

I was accepted, thanks to my Sacred Gear, to enter the Golden Dawn with the bronze triangle.

Le Fay was the first mage to enter the association with a golden triangle, and the youngest bearer of it since the beginning of the organization's more than 100 years ago.

Even within one of the most powerful group of mages in the world, she is being called the greatest talent since Merlin.

We clearly live in different worlds.

And it was with this pessimistic thought that I met Le Fay for the second time.

It's the sixth day I've been at the castle, and I think I'm getting used to the strangeness.

Even though it's a classic medieval castle, it's clearly equipped with modern home features like heaters, electric lights and even Wi-Fi, but none of these things seem to need cables and wires.

"As if it were magic isn't it". I speak to myself in a tone of irony.

Right now I'm sitting in a chair at a dining table. I'm alone eating while I listen to the chats of the groups of mages gathered around the dining room.

Normally a person would look at me and think I'm alone because I don't have any friends but that's not it. I didn't have time or opportunity for that.

Being of the lower caste, I have to do castle errands to eat and sleep in the castle in bunk beds with other bronze triangle mages who are too tired to talk.

At least I was lucky enough to be chosen to be mentored, even if it's just by one teacher.

In the midst of my financial crisis I hear something that interests me at the next table.

"Who does that brat think she is? She's just arrived and is already the darling of all the masters." A grown man with a small goatee and a silver triangle starts complaining as if he's drunk.

"Shhh. Calm down, even though I agree with you, she is technically your superior." A girl with a small brown ponytail and with another silver triangle says this, looking around to see if anyone dangerous is listening.

"I don't care about that. If she doesn't like it, let her come..." And suddenly there's silence.

The grand entrance to the dining room, Le Fay begins to enter followed by a small group of wizards whispering, they seem to be interested in her, but they don't approach, perhaps out of shame, probably out of fear.

Being an apparent 15-year-old girl, she clearly can't hide her extreme discomfort, at least until she sees me.

"Hey, Lance!" She starts waving at me, catching not only my attention but everyone else's as well.

Here I have two options, the first is to ignore her for being from a lower hierarchy so as not to put a crosshair on me, the other is to ignore the disapproving eyes that realized that the genius of the generation is calling someone with a bronze triangle and call her to eat.

Too bad I don't care about these background characters.

"Hello Le Fay! Come eat next to me." The silence in the cafeteria was only smaller than the relieved smile on her face.

"We haven't seen each other in a week, so how are you?" I ask her.

"Wow. I don't even know where to start, I was experimenting all week with the classes offered to see which ones I accepted, so I practically didn't have time to do anything else."

Rumor has it she was accepted in the moment that she entered the castle for all classes and was proposed to be mentored by all teachers. Looks like the information was real.

"Mythical creatures, origin of magic, theory of spells, I've never seen so much interesting things in my life, I'm so glad I joined" She smiles at me. "And you, what classes are you taking?"

"Unfortunately I've only been accepted into the study of magical artifacts, but it's a start."

I reply to her trying to be light-hearted, but Le Fay is smart, she must have realized how fortunate she is compared to the others.

"Oh! I'm so sorry Lance. I just blurted it out and..." Before she starts to apologize any further I place a finger on her lips.

"Is it your fault I'm not talented?"

"...No"

"Is it your fault that I was sorted by a weak Sacred Gear?"

"No"

"You're my friend?"

"Yes!"

"So don't apologize, I also see myself as your friend and friends don't blame themselves like that, at least not the good ones."

For the second time since I helped her calm down when we first met, I see a beaming smile on Le Fay's lips.

"Sorry...Thanks Lance. But you can't say you're not talented with a sharp tongue like yours."

"Hahaha, fair enough." We exchange smiles and the atmosphere is cozy for both of us.

"How about I pass on to you the things I'm learning, so you'll reach me faster" I was about to say how this is a good idea, until the damn drunk gets in our way.

"Hey Goldilocks, I don't want to get in trouble with you, but teaming up with a little shit like him is way too much!" He extends his arm to me as if he's going to hit me, realizing that I prepare to defend myself.

But his punch never gets to me.

As if a current had stopped, the man's body completely paralyzes and Le Fay's furious look confirms the authorship of the act.

"Get out of our way."

That man flies across the hall, hitting the wall hard and passing out instantly.

Le Fay takes my hand and leads me out of the room.

"Let's go to my room Lance, I'm in a private suite with room service" She sends me the same smile as always, even after throwing a man twice her size away without even touching him.

After this event, no one dares to bother me, but the whispers and rumors about me and Le Fay gives me little headaches.

Nothing a coffee in the study with my best friend can't fix.

"Oh, that's cute. But don't think she'll be mad for hiding me from her." The young woman with black hair and cat ears says so. "I don't want to disrupt your friendship."

"Honestly, she'll be pissed if she finds out what I've kept from her, but I don't want to get her involved, I doubt they'll show mercy, even for her."

"...Sorry".

"It is fine. The decision is mine to rescue you and your kind"

For the first time since the conversation began, the cat smiles at me.

"Changing the subject, tell the next story."

"Sure, this is a quick one, it's about my first magical artifacts class."

Second Headache

The Old Lady and the Dragon's curse

Sacred Gear are artifacts created by the god of the bible as miracles for humans. They range from weapons with specific powers to things that can make man equal to a true god, sometimes even more powerful.

Their numbers are infinite, but they all have some rules that they always follow.

1° They only originally appear in humans at birth.

2° They are based on an ability, concept or soul of some supernatural being.

3° They disappear with the death of the user.

4° They are random, so it is impossible to track them.

5° With the death of the user they appear in some other human.

Many have theories as to why God created them, but the most accepted was that their goal is to equate humans with other races as supernatural beings.

This is what the first class that Professor Griselda, the same woman that i took the aptitude test to enter the Golden Dawn, teaches to students accepted into magical artifacts.

The students present consist of those wealthy enough to be proficient with magical artifacts or those who are "lucky" enough to be chosen by fate to have a Sacred Gear, the greatest of all artifacts, within their souls.

I'm obviously a member of the second group.

Apparently Professor Griselda is more affectionate than the other teachers because at the end of the class she asked to speak privately with each of the students with Sacred Gears, and when it was my turn she said.

"I don't know if you're lucky or unlucky Lance Lotte."

"Excuse me?

"Absorption Line is an artifact already catalogued, so there aren't many secrets to discover." Even if it wasn't, I would already know things thanks to my DXD memory. "The problem is that we know all the flaws, including the Dragon."

"Vitra, right?"

"Well, well, well. Looks like we finally have a scholar here as opposed to the rich kids who carry wands given to them by their parents." She says this in a playful tone, but that doesn't make me forget my dilemma.

Vitra, the evil dragon known for being one of the most powerful dragons ever seen, unfortunately this power came with madness and bloodlust, being known to imprison his victims to test curses, thus earning the nickname Prison Dragon.

A being so damned that it had its soul split into five pieces sealed in five different Sacred Gears, so as not to run the risk of this being never being formed again.

A part is inside of me, Absorption Line, a small black bracer in the form of a small and cute black chameleon-like lizard with violet eyes and a deformed face that appears on the user's hand.

He has the power to release lines from her mouth and by holding onto her opponent, she manages to pull their power to the user. A very simple power.

"Since you know about the Dragon, I can only give you one last tip." She lowers her voice and approaches me.

"Never accept a contract from him, no matter what he promises."

"Yes, teacher".

After that warning, I leave the room thinking.

To tell you the truth, I'm very lucky to get that power.

I, someone who has little mana, with the means to take power from opponents, is a good crutch for me.

Even with the imminent danger of possession. The human mind and soul are more fragile than a devil's.

At least I can occupy myself with other ideas for this.

"Hmm. Maybe I can try to use this as a whip. I must train not just my mind, but my body for this too"

"Look at this, it looks like you were trying to become a warrior even before you met me."

"I had goals even before I met you Blake, they only became more immediate." I stare at the woman with the long black hair and equally black cat ears who look like they've been treated badly by time but are returning to a certain sparkle with her deep amber eyes. She also shows a recovery from her malnutrition that she had when I met her.

"I'm sorry to get you involved Lance."

"It's okay Blake, and I better know the rot of this castle sooner rather than later. And please stop apologizing, it's unnecessary".

The cat's cheeks turn red and with a small "Ok" she approaches me.

"So what's the last concern?"

"It is not obvious?"

"True, it was like less than a week ago".

"Blake, it was less than a week ago".

"Oh. Looks like I still haven't gotten used to the hours out here."

"Fair enough." And soberly we remember the last story.

Third Headache

The Stray Cat

After the first class and the reunion with Le Fay I finally made up my mind about my training cornogram.

In the morning, physical training in the green area of the castle. Aside from the romantic rich, nobody spends a long time here.

In the afternoon, I meet Le Fay to study and try to relax.

Finally, at night I try to do all the services I can, nobody wants to clean and tidy up at night, so I'm going to enjoy it.

I'm now in the castle's warehouse organizing the artifacts and archives, surprisingly it's a job that no one wants to do but that pays well, this is for the simple reason that if something is minimally damaged, the owner will come after you.

While doing the job I look for books or information that are useful to me, but the store is too big to find something quickly.

Suddenly I hear a noise coming from a dark corner, in a point that did not have windows or doors and only the shadows lodged in them.

Unbeknownst to me at the time, this is what brought in someone who would change my entire world perspective.

Coming closer to the shadows I see her, a woman dressed in simple beige clothes worthy of a peasant from the medieval times. Her long black hair is badly treated and her body shows clear signs of malnutrition.

The moment she notices me I notice the thing that caught my attention the most, the black cat ears in her hair that stand up.

I was going to start talking to her, but before anything else she pulls the rest of her body out of the shadows, literally, and lunges at me to attack.

Thanks to my studies with Le Fay, I know that Beastkin are faster and stronger than a normal human being, so the moment she threw herself at me I threw myself to the side and summoned my Sacred Gear.

With the Absorption Line, I release a purple line from the dragon's head of the bracelet, but instead of direct hit I hold it with the same hand and twist it to try to lasso the catwoman's leg.

She was weak so it was easier than it normally would be.

I pull her towards me, knocking her down and jump on top of her to try to stop the confrontation. The strength and elasticity of the Absorption Line allowed me to tie her arm to one of the nearby booksellers.

"Stop it, you'll only get hurt." I beg the woman.

"Never! You will never hurt us more than you already had!" She speaks with an apparent face that wants to kill me.

"We? I've never seen you or your kind before"

"So you're an idiot who lives in ignorance"! She struggles trying to free herself from the bonds and from me

"Please explain to me what is happening?"

"Cough! Cough! I don't know how, but I finally got out of that hell through the shadows. I... I... don't want to go back there!" And so she starts crying in tears.

I don't know what's going on, but she's weakened. The last thing I want is to make her think I'm a threat.

I release the tie and slowly place my right arm over her back to support her in a hug.

She cries for a while until she sleeps.

A few hours go by and in the middle of the night she wakes up, I took the opportunity to work more on the files while I watched for no one to show up.

"Why didn't you give me up?". she ask to me perplexed.

"Because I don't know what's going on, and the last thing I would do is deliver a crying woman to a place she doesn't want to go." I tell her this, bending down a little to look straight into her eyes, they are a beautiful amber color.

So she tells me the hell that she was before.

"I and my people are one of several peoples captured by the mages to serve as a battery for the castle to function".

"...What?"

"When some strong survive from constant absorption and starvation, they are taken in by mages to conduct experiments. I was chosen to be one, but the moment they picked me up I managed to slip into the shadows and I ended up here. Please help me!"

Ah, so that's how the castle maintains its functions even without electricity. Using live batteries.

Looks like I'm not part of the lowest caste.

This is clearly information I couldn't possibly know, and if I let go of this, I'll be killed.

"Okay, I'll help you. But first I need to know your name."

A little calmer, she looks at me and says the words that would put any plan I had down the drain.

"I'm Blake. Blake Belladonna."

My head stops working for a minute. Blake Belladonna? From RWBY? I'm not understanding how this is possible, but now I'm sure of one thing.

I can be sure of nothing in this world now.

I'm already feeling a hell of a headache coming on.

"I never understood why you were so surprised to know my name?"

"Sorry, it was just too much information for one night"

"It makes sense, it's not every day that a faunus comes out of a shadow and tells secrets that will follow you forever". She says with a small smile, thinking she told an excellent joke.

Trying to change the subject I ask Blake. "You've already managed to get used to being in my shadow."

"Yes, it's still a bit of a weird feeling, but the biggest problem is seeing how boring your everyday life is."

"I know, but at least now I know where to start our plan."

"How?" Blake says, now fully alert.

"From your memories you say that every mage who entered the underground was in a pair and had either a silver or gold triangle on the necklace, right?."

"Yes."

"So that's what I need, move up the ranks and get a mentor wicked enough to take me to the underground."

"Okay, but how are you going to do that?"

"Simple Blake". And I show her a book titled Fighting Like a Loser. "By fighting against people stronger than I am, and I will defeat them in the dirtiest and most scoundrel way possible." I say this with a smile from ear to ear.

Blake looks at me and says without expressing any emotion.

""Well, that will at least draw attention to you, I just don't know if it's going to be any good."

She says this, already feeling the onset of a headache.

Now the main character has a clear goal and that was my goal in the chapter.

Many people may not like the decision to include the character Blake in the story, but if you read my writings on P a tr e on. I will show my justification.

In the next chapter, we will have our first real fight and an explanation of the magic system in this world.

Good Week Guys.
