It didn't start out like it.
If and when somebody is accepted into the Bellas, they don't move into the house until at least a month into being a Bella, just in case they decide to jeopardize it right at the beginning, like most seem to do.
Sometimes a Bella does have to think about whether they want to move into the house or not because they're normally comfortably living somewhere else. Though, they always end up moving in.
So when Beca declined, it wasn't too surprising and Aubrey and Chloe told her to think about it.
Two and a half months after joining the Bella's, she still declined, never moving into the house.
They tried not to push too much.
At the beginning of their practices, Beca never left in a hurry.
She took her time grabbing her things and took the time talking to some of the girls.
After the first few weeks of practice she started to practically run out of rehearsal as soon as Aubrey called quits.
She would say a quiet 'bye' and be out of the room within a minute.
At first they thought that maybe she just had a job to be at, but Chloe then pointed out that she in fact only worked on Monday through Thursday at four p.m, yet the Bellas were done with practice before noon.
That couldn't have been it.
So, what was up?
Beca had a responsibility. A big one.
She was lucky that her dad helped her out the the first few weeks of practice, by watching said responsibility. He wanted her to focus on the group for a little bit and get used to it.
After getting used to it, her dad no longer helped out, so she had to rush out of practice to get to the place she needed to be on time.
Beca had shit luck. At age sixteen, she fell pregnant. It was just a very, very unlucky situation. The condom broke, plan B didn't work, she didn't want to get an abortion, and the father wanted nothing to do with the baby.
Nine months later, Calvin James Mitchell was born, looking like an extra extra extra tinier version of Beca. He had soft, light brown hair with blue-grey eyes, and as he grew, he adorned the sweetest smile, just like her own, and Beca loved him with every fiber of her being.
He was energetic, ambitious, and loved cars, trucks, dinosaurs, and superhero's.
After Calvin was born, Beca was just shy of seventeen and didn't want to deal with her senior year of high school, juggling the new role of motherhood, trying to find a babysitter all day, have to pay them, do school and the school work, with no job at the time. So, she became homeschooled, did all the work online and graduated through there, having a diploma mailed to her.
She took a year and a half off after high school to work a job and save up money. She made mixes on her laptop when she was back at home with Calvin and she sold them to radio stations while also working at one. She even picked up side jobs here and there for a little while if she was able to get somebody to watch her son.
When she would get home, the little boy would squeal happily and be completely attached to the short girl's hip the rest of the day, mumbling in baby language excitedly.
Beca and him would go to his room and play with cars and dinosaurs and then when he started to get tired, Beca would snuggle him for hours after he fell asleep, before putting him to bed and going back to her own.
He was the best thing of her life.
He was her happiness.
So when her dad said that she should go to college, saying that being a DJ is not going to bring in enough money, she refused just for the fact that he was going against her wishes.
Then he mentioned that she has to look after Calvin now, and that's a lot more money needed than if it was just her on her own.
After her dad said that, she glanced over into the living room where Calvin sat, giggling at the television cartoons in his little PJ's. Her heart burst at the sight and sound and she had sighed quietly.
If she got a degree in something, it could always get her a better job with better money and Calvin deserves the best.
So, her dad was able to get her admission into Barden for free. Though, she couldn't live in the dorms, she decided to get a small apartment right near the campus.
By the time she was going to be starting college, Calvin was three years old and old enough to start preschool, which was convenient for the Bellas rehearsals and the classes she sometimes had in the mornings. His preschool started at nine in the morning till eleven. Only two hours since they're so young.
It was the exact same time as Bellas practice.
The first few weeks, her dad would pick up Calvin to take him to and from preschool.
After Beca adjusted to the Bellas practice, her dad backed off and let her have the responsibility.
So their day started early.
Calvin was like Beca in the sense that she didn't like getting up in the morning.
Beca made it a routine to start waking up at seven so she could take a quick shower and get ready for the day.
By the time she'd be ready, it would be seven thirty and she would go wake up Calvin so he had half an hour to grumble about not wanting to get up. Beca would ask him what he wanted for breakfast and he would sleepily mumble something.
By eight he would be up and Beca would have breakfast ready for him, whatever he mumbled tiredly earlier. While he ate, Beca would tame his wild hair with her hands and pick out his outfit and get him dressed. She'd help him brush his teeth and then they're out the door by eight thirty.
He'd grumble the whole way and Beca would have to promise him something. Either a dessert that night, extra cuddles, a snack, or she would mention one of his favorite cartoons and he would brighten up instantly to tell her about the newest episode he seen the night previous, even though she had been right beside him watching it as well.
She didn't mind, it brought a smile onto her face.
By the time she got to the preschool it was eight forty five and then she had to drive back to Barden.
She'd always be the last one there, right at nine on the dot.
At first, Aubrey got hard on her for it because she used to be early all the time.
She'd say something about, "early is on time, on time is late, and late in unacceptable."
Eventually Aubrey gave up, seeing as though she obviously wasn't going to be coming earlier and she realized it wasn't that much of a deal as long she got the choreography and songs down.
Beca who once would stay after practice for a little while to get to know the girls, now left so fast, you would have thought that there was a fire.
"What's her deal?" Stacie asked incredulously after the second week of it happened.
"Maybe she doesn't like you guys anymore," Fat Amy piped up. Cynthia Rose scoffed.
"And what about you?"
"Beca's my girl!"
"So you know what's up?" Chloe smirked when Fat Amy paused and her smile fell.
"I suppose I don't."
"She might've took up another job she didn't tell us about," Aubrey shrugged. She wasn't too worried. Beca was a mystery, as Chloe would tell her. You never knew with her.
They left it until the next week, a Friday. They were have a dinner and movie night at the Bellas house.
"Beca!" Chloe called before the short girl could practically sprinted out of the room. Beca closed her eyes briefly before turning towards the group.
"What's up?" She smiled at them. She really did like these girls, she had a blast during practices and performances. She was a bit disappointed that she couldn't hang out with them more, but she had priorities.
"We're having a movie night tonight, you coming?" Cynthia Rose called out. "We haven't hung out with you in forever."
"For real, I only see you during practice anymore," Fat Amy stated. "Are you a real person?" Beca furrowed her brows at the question as she rest of the group looked the the blonde.
"What does that even mean?" Chloe asked.
"Maybe she's a ghost? Only appearing during these practices," she said and gasped before going over and pushing Beca.
"Dude!" Beca stumbled a bit.
"Maybe not a ghost," Amy mumbled. Beca glared at her and sighed.
"I just have things to do. I can't make it tonight, I'm sorry." Stacie booed at her.
"Are you hooking up with somebody?" The tall girl asked. Of course Stacie would ask that, Beca thought as she sighed. "Is it that Jesse dude?"
"No. I am not hooking up with anybody. Especially not Jesse."
"Better not be!" Aubrey piped up from where she was shifted through papers at the piano, causing the short brunette to roll her eyes.
"I'm not a ghost, I'm not hooking up with anybody, maybe next week I'll join you guys. Okay?" With that she spun on her heel and quickly left the room, not stopping when some of the girls called after her. She was already ten minutes late for picking up Calvin.
She got to the preschool at nine twenty-five and sighed when she seen him talking to the teacher. The only one left. She quickly scampered out of her car.
"I am so sorry Mrs. Perry. The girls cornered me after practice and I couldn't get away for a little." The woman waved her off with a smile.
"It's fine, dear. I'm happy to talk more with Calvin here." Calvin giggled before going over to his mother, hugging her legs.
"Hi mama," he murmured tiredly. Beca took his backpack off before scooping him up into her arms.
"Hello there, Mr. Calvin. Ready to go?" His head nodded on her shoulder and she waved to the teacher again. "Thanks so much again, Mrs. P."
"Of course dear. Have a good day!" Beca returned the call and buckled Calvin into his seat.
"Did you have a good day CJ?" She used the nickname, gathering a smile out of him.
"Yeah! I learned letters and to write Calvin and I played with Jack."
"Sounds like fun," Beca smiled and looked through the rear view mirror. The little boy's eyes were slowing starting to close as he watched out the window. "Why don't we go home and take a nap, then we can to whatever you want tonight. It's mama and Cal night."
"Really?" He murmured happily.
"Heck yeah, we can get whatever you want to eat, maybe even dessert..." she teased, making him squeal happily.
"I want uh, those noodles we get!" He paused for a second, "Wait no, pizza! Or maybe, that one chicken. Then uh, ice cream? Or, or, or, uhm..." he stumbled over his words and Beca chuckled as she pulled into the apartments lot.
She parked and opened up the back door, unbuckling him.
"How about we focus on a nap right now, and when you wake up you'll have a couple of hours to think about what you want, yeah?" She placed him on the ground and he took a hold of her hand as he nodded.
"Okay, will you nap with me?" Beca leaned down and gently poked at his tummy with a smile. He pushed her hand away with a giggle. "Stop it!"
"Of course I'll nap with you." They made it up to their apartment and Beca set down Calvin's book bag, along with her own bag. He changed himself into some comfy shorts instead of his jeans and Beca scooped him about as she ran to her bedroom with him. He laughed loudly. "The cuddle monster is in tonight." She hugged the little body close to her own after she laid them down and covered them up.
"Sing to me?" He mumbled as he hugged his stuffed dinosaur that he always brings with him.
"Always," she whispered and ran her finger over his nose. "You want a certain one?" His nose twitched with the contact, but he loved when she did that.
"My favorite." Beca chuckled and kissed his forehead, mumbling an 'alright.'
I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down, but I won't fall
I am titanium...
"Cal, have you decided what you want yet," She called out as she got ready.
"Pizza and ice cream!" He yelled excitedly and ran into Beca's room. "Hurry up, hurry up!" She chuckled and headed out of her room, with the help of her son's hands pushing at her legs.
"We're going, we're going. Calm down."
"Mama," he furrowed his brow and shook his head. "Pizza and ice cream. You can't be calm when it's pizza and ice cream!" Beca shook her head fondly at the boy and pet his hair down.
"You're so right, CJ. Come on!" He squealed and Beca grabbed her bag, making sure she had her wallet and Calvin's dinosaur or else he wouldn't be very happy. She opened the door, locking it while Calvin ran ahead of his mother to press the button of the elevator.
The good thing about where they lived was there was a lot of food places around and all in walking distance. In fact, there's four different pizza places within two blocks of each other. Calvin always picked a different one each time, saying that all their pizza is good and he can't pick a favorite.
"Hold mama's hand," Beca instructed softly as they left the building. Calvin grabbed on and swung it happily, bouncing on the balls of his feet.
In his other hand there was a car of his and he held it up in the air, making noises and having it go off different objects they passed, like buildings, poles, and post boxes.
They slowly approached the street with all the restaurants and Beca pulled at Calvin's hand a little to get his attention.
"Alright bud, which place this time?"
She failed to see the group of people on the other side of the street.
"Alright aca-bitches!" Fat Amy yelled out, trying to silence the arguing over what movie to watch. Stacie and Cynthia Rose were showing everybody movies and arguing, Ashly, Chloe, and Aubrey were watching them, and Lily was sitting silently, playing with a knife. "Everyone shut the hell up. I'm hungrier than a tic on a teddybear." Chloe frowned at the analogy with furrowed eyebrows.
"What do you want us to do about that?" Stacie asked as she held up another movie. "This one?"
"Hell no," Fat Amy denied. "We should go out to eat now. We can pick a movie out after."
"I'm starting to get hungry too," Jessica stated as she came down the stairs.
"What do you guys want to eat?"
"Chinese?"
"Pizza?"
"Burgers?"
"Let's just go down to fourth street and we can all be happy because all of those options are there. We are not fighting over where to eat," Chloe stated and went to put her shoes on, settling an argument before it could even begin.
"Who's all coming?" Aubrey asked and went to get her purse. "Everybody?" She asked again when she turned around and seen everybody putting their shoes on.
"Alright bitches, let's roll," Fat Amy clapped. Chloe glided past her in a skip, Stacie following closely and the rest following behind.
"Who wants what?"
"I wanted a burger," Fat Amy answered Aubrey.
"You guys do have your own money right? Cause I'm not about to pay for all of you," the Bellas coach grumbled. Fat Amy grimaced and Lily glanced over.
"I have my penny under my tongue," Lily whispered. Aubrey squinted at her as the girl turned back around to continue walking.
"I'll pay you later," Amy clapped on Aubrey's shoulder and the coach sighed, knowing that Fat Amy was in fact not going to pay her back.
"I can pay for Fat Amy," the redhead promised with a smile. "I don't mind. Or we can split it?"
"Split," Aubrey pronounced with a nod.
The girls bickered all the way there until Chloe smacked one of their arms.
"What the hell?" Ashley grumbled and rubbed the spot. Chloe shushed them.
"Is that Beca?" She pointed over to across the street where it was indeed the short brunette, holding the hands of a small boy.
"I didn't know she had a brother," Stacie stated and crossed her arms.
"They look like twins." They all nodded at Cynthia's words. They heard the boy making 'vroom' noises with what looked like a car in his hand and it brought a smile to the girls faces.
They watched as the boy started to point, before shrieking, "that one mama!"
Some of the jaws dropped slowly, some dropped so fast and hard that they could have unhinged.
"Did I hear that right?" Chloe asked after they watched Beca be pulled into the pizza shop he had pointed to.
"I think you did. Unless my ears are still clogged from that one time I wrested a kangaroo in the pool," Amy mumbled. "No way does that little pipsqueak have a child of her own."
"Come on girls. Let's go investigate," Stacie smiled mischievously and made her way across the street, not even looking to see if a car was coming.
Aubrey pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head at the girls when they followed, a car having to step on his breaks since the girls walked right out in front of them.
The blonde coach waved to the man that had a scowl on his face as an apology as she followed after the girls.
"You guys can't just walk across the street like that!" She hissed at them as they approached the pizza shop.
"Whatever, he could try to hit me, but it'd do more damage to his car than to me," Amy stated matter of factly. Chloe shook her head as they gazed through the window.
Beca and the boy were at a booth, sitting on the same side with each other. The boy was bouncing in his seat as he talked to Beca and ran his toy car all over the table, making an obstacle course with the condiments and napkin holder on the table.
Beca rested a hand on the boys hip whenever he stood up or went on his knees to prevent any falls and she played with his hair as they waited.
"Let's crush this." Stacie didn't have to be told twice as she strode into the restaurant like she owned the place and then pretended to be surprised when she seen Beca, calling her out.
"Beca!" A look of fear and uncertainty passed through the shirt girls eyes before her normally cool exterior shone back through. Her stance started to falter as she seen more of the girls coming over. This wasn't supposed to happen. "Where's our invite?"
"Uhm, hey guys. What're you guys doing here?"
"Dinner before movie, remember?" Chloe asked and tilted her head. The boy wasn't paying much attention, too caught up in playing with his cars to notice the group surrounding the table.
"Ah, right. Not ordering in?" She asked and glanced over at Calvin.
"Everybody wanted different things, it would be easier to walk over here and divide and conquer to take it back to the house. Don't you think?" Aubrey asked the short brunette who nodded slightly in understanding. It made sense.
Calvin shrieked happily when the waiter came back over with two slices of pizza. They were bigger than his head.
He noticed the girls, shyly slinking behind his mom for a second.
"These are friends, it's okay," she murmured to him. He glanced at his mother before looking back at the girls who watched on.
"Hi," he whispered.
"Hi there," Chloe smiled at the boy. "Beca, do you mind if we join? We can move over to the party table." Beca looked very hesitant.
"Uhm..."
"Come on, Bec," Cynthia Rose chanted. Beca sighed and looked at Calvin who was trying to pick up his large pizza with a single hand.
"You have to use two hands, bud," she instructed. "Look at me for a second, hm? Do you want to go sit with them while we eat?" Calvin's eyes went back and forth between everybody before nodded silently. Beca sighed and turned back towards the girls. "Fine." She got out of the booth, helping Calvin out before grabbing the two plates, Chloe helped by grabbing their drinks, and made their way over to the larger table.
Calvin whined a little when he seen that there was no booth where they were moving to, but when Beca moved their chairs so they were out together, he was a little happier.
The girls all ordered what they wanted and then turned to Beca who was helping guide Calvin into how to hold the slice, like she normally did.
"So, Beca," Chloe started and Beca already didn't like where this was going. "Who's this little guy?"
"I'm Calvin!" He stated proudly, he knew they were talking about him.
"Cute name," Stacie smiled at the boy who now had pizza sauce all over his face. Beca shook her head and wiped at his face with a napkin.
"Mama," he grumbled, pushing her hand away. Beca momentarily froze as well as the other girls at the confirmation that they had heard right outside.
"You gotta look presentable, Cal," she stated and then poked his nose after she finished. "All clean." He huffed and took another bite of pizza, his eyes catching the corner of the shop for the first time and squealed.
"Mama! They have those things!" She looked over to the machines where you put a quarter in and twist to get something. Beca dug in her purse and pulled out a couple, handing them to him.
"Think you can get them alone?" He nodded happily. "Call if you need me and you can only eat them after your dinner, and remember only one of these circles in the machine at a time." She kissed his head and helped him slide off the chair, watching him go off to the machines before turning to the watchful Bellas. "Fire."
She knew they had questions.
"You have a kid?"
"Is he yours?"
"Did you take him from a friend?"
"You're almost as tiny as he is."
"How old is he?"
Beca sighed and waved her hands.
"Okay, everybody stop. One at a time. Yes he's mine, not a friends, I know I'm small, but not that small," she glared at Fat Amy who shrugged. "He's three, almost four."
"How old are you?" Chloe asked. She had assumed since she was a freshman that she was either eighteen or nineteen.
"Nineteen," she said calmly and their jaws dropped again as they did the math.
"Were you-" Beca cut Aubrey off, knowing what she was going to say.
"No, no. It was consensual, just unlucky."
"You could have told us," Chloe stated softly.
"Yeah! We wouldn't have judged," Jessica piped up from her spot at the end of the table.
"Well, I didn't know you guys terribly well, and I just wanted to have some normal at school. I don't exactly broadcast I have a kid."
"Is that why you leave rehearsal in a rush?" Beca nodded and looked over to check on Calvin who was staring intently at the machines, deciding which he wanted to use.
"Preschool ends at eleven, so I'm always a bit late to pick him up and don't want to be any later, I gotta rush out. Sorry about that." Aubrey frowned upon hearing this.
"You could've always asked to leave early," the blonde shrugged and Beca gave her a blank stare.
"I highly doubt you would have let me go. I would need a hella good excuse right? I wouldn't have told you what it was."
"That's true," Aubrey murmured. "Well, now you can leave early if you want."
"I may take you up on that."
"Now you can move into the house!" Fat Amy cheered and Beca's eyes widened and she shook her head.
"No way," she refused.
"Why not? The kid could totally come. He could be like, our mascot!" Stacie gasped with a smile as she clapped her hands. Beca shook her head again.
"No way, dude. How many rooms does that house have? Damn," she said in disbelief. Do they share bedrooms? Or is there ten or more rooms? Maybe there's a lot of rooms and only some have to share? She's never actually been in it... "He's adjusting to living in the apartment still and I don't want to move him now, and it would be hard to live with so many people and a three year old."
"It may not," Amy shrugged.
"If he's still adjusting, you gotta move him before he's adjusted so he wouldn't mind moving," Cynthia Rose piped up and Beca groaned as she put her head in her hands.
"Mama?" She looked up, hand on her cheek and a lazy grin slipped onto her face as she seen Calvin's tiny arms completely full with different little containers filled with things. "Help?" Beca chuckled and started picking up the containers, setting them on the table.
"Geez, how many quarters did I give you?" She asked to herself. "Did you get everything you wanted?" Calvin nodded and then frowned. Beca set him up on the chair beside him and he grabbed one of the plastic balls, trying to pry it open.
"I wanted this one ring, for you! But I didn't get it." He grumbled with a frown and handed her another container with a ring in it. "Sorry it's not the one I said." Beca smiled softly and looked at the ring. She didn't know which one he wanted for her, but she loved it anyways. She kissed his head and messed up his hair.
"I love it, thank you." He beamed and went back trying to open the balls as Beca opened up her own and found a finger for the ring to fit on. Calvin looked across from him at the redhead, watching the two.
"What's your name?" He asked innocently.
"I'm Chloe," she smiled at him. He nodded and repeated the name quietly to himself and handed up a plastic ball.
"Can you open this for me, please?"
"Of course, hun." She pried it open with nimble fingers, handing it back to Calvin who hummed happily and thanked her.
"Cal, these are mama's friends," she wrapped her arm around his body to get his attention and he looked up, looking at all the girls who his mother pointed to with each name. "Chloe, Fat Amy, Stacie, Aubrey, Cynthia Rose, Lily, Ashley, and Jessica."
He waved at them shyly.
"My mama calls me Cal, or CJ, or uhm, Uncle Jesse calls me..." He looked at his mom for help.
"Vinny."
"Vinny! But I don't get it..." he frowned. The girls smiled at him, but also shocked to hear that Jesse knew about the boy, if it's the Jesse on the Trebles. He took a bite of his pizza that was now getting cold. The girls have been eating there's that came a little while ago.
"Those are cool nicknames," Chloe smiled at him. "My friends call my Chlo."
"Stace."
"CR."
"Bree."
"Ash."
"Jess."
"I don't think any of my nicknames are appropriate," Fat Amy stated with a shrug. "Lily and I aren't special enough for nicknames apparently." Calvin looked a little overwhelmed and tried sitting closer to Beca.
"Mama," he whispered. "I don't.. I can't.. uhm, 'member all that.." Beca rubbed his back soothingly.
"That's okay. You don't have to remember all that," she reassured him. He nodded and looked at the girls.
"Sorry," he mumbled.
"That's totes okay!" Chloe beamed at him.
"We don't even mind if you forget our names," Aubrey stated. Calvin nodded again.
"What's a totes?" He asked. Some of the girls playfully groaned when Chloe grinned brightly. Before she could reply, Beca opened her mouth to reply to her son.
"It means totally, but don't ever say the word 'totes' okay?" She instructed him. Chloe frowned as the other girls laughed. Calvin giggled with them, even if he didn't know what was going on and nodded.
"Okay, mama." He took a last bite of pizza. "I can't eat anymore." He ate about a fourth which is better than normal.
"That's okay." She ran her fingers through his hair and opened one of the plastic balls with his candy in it and held it for him incase he wanted any. He did take a piece.
"Calvin," Stacie spoke up. "Would you like to come watch a movie with us?" Beca glared at the girl and Calvin looked up at his mother in silent question before looked back at Stacie.
"Can mama come?"
"Of course!" Cynthia Rose added. "We wouldn't take you away from her." Calvin looked at Beca.
"Can we, mama?" Beca looked at him and those blessing blue eyes and sighed.
"What are you guys watching?" Beca asked the girls, not answering Calvin's question yet.
"Whatever Calvin wants," Chloe replied.
"I can pick?" Calvin asked happily.
"Of course you can."
"How to Train Your Dragon?" He asked and wiggled in his seat in excitement.
"I don't think we've ever seen that before."
"Can we go, mama? Please?" He turned to her, grabbing ahold of her arm and shaking it.
"Fine" she muttered and he shrieked, hugging at her neck and giving her a sloppy kiss on the cheek. She gently wiped at her now wet cheek when he turned away to tell the girls the good news, even though they heard her agree.
"Can we go now?" He asked them and they all nodded at him, cleaning up their spots.
Beca put all of the containers he won into her bag and cleaned up their plates and drinks as well, going to throw them away.
Calvin skipped beside them and asked for his car. Beca dug through his purse and handed it to him. She waited by the door for the girls, arms crossed with Calvin running his car along the windows and counters.
She grumbled at them as they headed out the door, Beca instructing for Calvin to take her hand.
"I cannot believe you're making me go to this."
"We're not making you. You could've said no," Stacie shrugged with a grin.
"You totally can't say 'no' to him." Chloe giggled when Beca huffed. She knew it was true. Calvin has her wrapped around her finger. He's the only person that she's a sucker for.
"Woah," Calvin mumbled as they walked up to the house. "It's big!" Beca let go of his hand as they walked in. The short girl took a look around and nodded, but then Calvin ran off somewhere in the house.
"Cal!" She called out. "You can't run around here like that. Don't touch anyth-" Her sentence stopped short and she pinched the bridge of her nose when she heard a thud and a yell of an 'oops' from the boy. She turned toward Chloe and Aubrey who were the ones left, the other girls already heading to the living room. "I'll pay for whatever that is if he damaged it." Chloe waved her off.
"I'm sure it's fine. It didn't sound like something fragile." Beca sighed and Chloe took her arm, guiding her to the living room.
"Calvin James," Beca called out as she sat on the couch. Another small bang rang out and a small 'ow.' His face lit up when he walked into the right room, going over to hop on Beca's lap.
"I hit my head," he murmured. "This is so cool!" He wiggled a little and Beca nodded, leaning back into the couch, bringing him with her.
"What'd you knock over?" He shrugged.
"Not sure."
"You should apologize, you can't go around touching their things. You could've broke it," she scolded him lightly, turning him so he could look at her. "Can you say sorry?"
He turned around and frowned at the girls who were waiting, even if they thought it wasn't necessary.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled sincerely.
"It's okay!" Aubrey reassured.
"Thank you for apologizing though," Chloe smiled at the boy.
"Are you ready for.. what was it called again? Something about dragons," Stacie feigned confusion, trying to get his spirits back up again.
"How to Train Your Dragon!" He shrieked. "We gonna watch it!?"
"Hell yeah we are!" Fat Amy cheered and Beca glared at her while Jessica hit her arm.
"No cussing, there's a child," she scolded. Fat Amy rolled her eyes and looked at Calvin.
"Wanna know something?" She asked him and he responses with an extra eager nod. "I've wrestled a crocodile before." Calvin's mouth dropped and his eyes fell into awe.
"No way," he whispered. "Mama! Amy's uhm.. 'estled a croc before!" Beca smiled fondly at his enthusiasm and kissed his head.
"I heard. Is that cool?"
"So cool! I wanna do that." Beca automatically shook her head.
"No way, CJ."
"Not fair."
"Totally fair. Do you want to get eaten?"
"Amy didn't."
"You're thirty-five pounds and three foot. You would get eaten. You want to be swimming around in their belly?"
"Like uhm.. that bus!"
"Bus?"
"Ms. Frizz!"
"Ms. Frizzle?"
"Yeah!"
"Oh! The Magic School Bus?"
"Yes! We build one of those?"
"Totally. We could go on adventures."
"Yes! We can take them too," he pointed to the girls absentmindedly. Beca and Calvin were in a heated conversation about what adventures they were gonna go on that they missed all of the looks from the Bellas.
They were all in awe of Beca. She was almost like a completely different person with her son and it was adorable.
Out went her prickly exterior and in came her very soft side.
They thought she was a wonderful mother.
The movie ended a while ago and the girls put on a new one, after seeing that Calvin fell asleep against his mother's side.
Calvin had asked for ice cream right after it started, but Beca shook her head against it as it was getting late and she didn't want him on a sugar high. He had pouted at Beca hated when he pouted. She ended up tickling him, throwing him into a fit of laughs and giggles as he squirmed against her, swatting and a lot of 'stop mama!'
The girls enjoyed watching their interactions, seeing this other side of Beca.
After they settled down, Calvin was enraptured by the movie, as always.
They loved the movie. Calvin talked the whole time, telling them all about it.
Stacie, Chloe, Cynthia Rose, and Jessica were all particularly hooked on it, on the edge of their seats and eyes glued to the television the whole time.
They loved it.
They ended up putting on the Lion King after, just in case Calvin woke up. They didn't want to put on an inappropriate movie with him there.
Jessica, Ashly, and Lily ended up going to their rooms halfway through the movie to go to bed.
Fat Amy stayed lounging in her bean bag chair, Aubrey and Chloe on the love seat, Cynthia Rose was sat on the floor, her head laying back against the love seat as she dozed off, and Stacie was sat on the opposite end of the couch that Beca was on, feet up on the coffee table.
It was only around ten, but Beca fell asleep a little while ago. She had shifted so that she was facing the back of the couch, knees up a little bit, almost falling off herself. Beca had maneuvered Calvin so that he was laying on the inside of the couch, facing her and cuddled into her chest. The short girl had one hand curled around him and the other was under her head as a pillow.
"You cannot tell me that's not the cutest thing you've ever seen," Chloe mumbled as she looked at Beca and Calvin.
"I never would have suspected our short stack being a mom," Amy stated as she popped some more popcorn into her mouth.
"She's good though isn't she?" Stacey asked and tilted her head at the two. She took out her phone to take a picture quickly and smirked at the group. "I bet she'll secretly appreciate this."
"She's actually sweet with him around," Aubrey piped up and Chloe snorted.
"She's sweet all the time, you just seem to irk her so then she gets an attitude with you." The readhead gave the blonde coach a knowing look. The blonde and the tiny brunette liked to poke each others buttons.
"It was very unexpected," Stacie said with a smile as she glanced over at the two again. "A very welcome unexpected though, don't you think?" The other girls nodded. "I still think he could be our mascot." Chloe laughed again and shook her head.
"Back in Tasmania our mascot was a dingo. A kid and a dog are basically the same thing, so I agree with Stacie."
"A child and a dog are not the same thing, what?" Chloe asked incredulously.
"They both play, fight, eat, and shit. They're one in the same." Aubrey and Chloe shook their head at the Australian as Stacie pointed to Amy in agreement.
At that moment, Calvin moved, his arm going up and hitting Beca in the nose causing her to groan awake, rubbing it with her hand.
Chloe chuckled.
"You good, Becs?" The short girl hummed.
"Yeah, he's done that before," she mumbled sleepily and slowly sat up, as to not wake up the boy nor fall off the couch. She rubbed her eyes and squinted. "What time is it?"
"Almost eleven," Aubrey answered, her eyes on the television, only taking them off to glance at Beca for a second.
"I should get him home..." She trailed off.
"Or you could stay here in the spare bedroom we have," Chloe suggested with a smile and a small shrug. Beca sighed and rubbed her face.
She wasn't in the mood to walk all the way home, especially carrying Calvin all the way there.
"Fine. Just this one time and only because I'm tired and it's dark out." Chloe squealed quietly with a light clap of her hands. When Beca stood up, Chloe pulled her into a hug.
"He's a great kid, you did so good. We'll always accept you, Beca," she said quietly. Beca smiled, grateful, keeping the happy tears at bay. She was still a badass.
"I really appreciate that, Chlo. Thank you." Chloe pulled back, smiling wide at her again, as always.
"I second that statement," Amy raised her hand.
"Third," Stacie smiled.
"Fourth," Aubrey mumbled.
"I appreciate you guys a lot, seriously." Beca went and gently picked up Calvin, he whined a little bit. "I know, I'm sorry," she whispered and rubbed his back. "We're going to bed." Before Chloe could show her the room, Amy spoke up again.
"Okay, but seriously, how about that moving in thing and having Calvin as our mascot..."
Beca rolled her eyes fondly as the three girls started sharing their ideas.
She's glad they know.
A/N: Hey! Hope you guys enjoyed!!
My DVD player has been broken for years so I haven't been able to watch Pitch Perfect :( but when I found out we were getting it fixed, I started reading some fan fictions, and I really loved seeing Beca as a mom, so I made one myself.
I actually sort of like what I wrote, which is a rare thing...
I might actually continue doing one shots with Beca and Calvin, including the girls and maybe even Jesse sometime.
Let me know if you guys wanna see anything with them!
I appreciate any of you who read this! Much love xxxxx
