The Princess Groom

Ch.3: Meeting Her

It was the next afternoon that I found myself alone, laying on my bed. My head rested on three pillows, my eyes gazing at my mounted TV across the room. I sighed, thinking. Why did it have to be so cold? A walk would have done me some good.

As I thought on this, my eyes widened as I saw a Pentagram appear next to my bed. I yelped, staring at the space between the bed and filing cabinet, where there was a red glow. My fear became more prudent, however, as I stared at what appeared. It was Charlie.

My first impressions were that she was beautiful. With long blonde hair, a charming smile, and being tall. Much later, when we stood back- to- back and were measured by Angel Dust, he concluded that I was three inches shorter than Charlie.

Anyways, I could only stare. My mouth opened, yet no sounds came out. Was I going now? Swept away before goodbyes could be given?

Charlie smiled softly, staying where she was. I slowly lifted off my blanket and sat up. "So... you're Charlie?" I asked.

She nodded, gesturing if she should sit. I nodded, patting the spot next to me. After all, it did not hurt to hold decency.

Upon sitting, Charlie revealed a $50 dollar bill and handed it to me. I was confused, until her voice was unveiled.

"Take your Family out to dinner" she smiled.

I blinked, then shook my head. "I can't take your money" I said kindly.

Charlie frowned. "Please?"

I looked at her pleading eyes, then sighed, grabbing my wallet, and putting the money in there. "I have one question. This whole...well."

"Marriage?" Charlie supplied.

"Yeah. That. Does...does it require that we have kids?"

Charlie blushed, shaking her head no. I gave a sigh of relief. Though I was keeping it together externally, I was shaking inside in those moments. I did not want kids due to my past. I knew not how bad of a father I could be, and so I wanted to avoid it at all costs.

Charlie looked around the room, standing up and walking around. She smiled, seeing my Dad's Marine flag behind my bookshelf. "How long did he serve?"

I gave a smile, getting up and walking to her. "Five years. So, not long. Charlie, I just have one more question. My family- they'll be safe right? They're not condemned or anything?"

Charlie nodded, surprising me by taking my hands, rubbing them with her thumbs. "Absolutely not. They are safe, David."

Looking to the Pentagram suddenly, she sighed, blowing some hair out of her face.

"I gotta go. Saturday. Umm... did you want everything to come with you?" She asked, referring to the room's contents. I nodded. "Not the beds in the closet behind my bed. But everything else, yes."

Charlie retreated, walking over to the Pentagram. "You need to get your feelings out, David. Talk to God. I'm sure He will understand."

With that, I was alone again. I slowly walked back to my bed, resolving to talk to Him.

But it would be in my Element. A walk.
