The Princess Groom

Ch.14: Winds of Change

After taking a moment to look Charlie over, I silently walked with Charlie into the office. Charlie closed the door behind her, smiling. "Sleep well, sweetie?" I blushed and nodded, sitting in one of the chairs. She walked over, sitting in one of the chairs to the right of me, sighing.

"So, two hundred years ago, My Dad and my grandfather came to a deal. Once a year, Hell would have Angels from Heaven come down to kill who they wanted with a few exceptions. I... I created the Hotel because I thought demons would want to be redeemed. I kinda think that still. But...Angels..."

She paused; her hands began to shake. I was taken aback as her eyes turned red, her teeth becoming pointier. She growled.

"They. Fucking. Kill. Kids! And couples who do not do anything wrong!" she howled. I had to cover my ears. Just as quickly, she returned to normal, sighing a defeated sigh.

"Anyways, In July, I'm going up to Heaven to try making a new deal. And..I was wondering if you wanted to come with."

I was startled. Heaven? Meeting. Him? It was all too much, and Charlie had to take my hand. "You don't have to go" she smiled softly. "I would love you too though."

I took a few minutes to consider, letting my feet stretch out. The God I knew was slow to anger and forgave. Would he still be livid over my comment to him? Would he refuse a new deal? There was no undoing what was done. But the most pressing question was-

Would he listen to his Granddaughter?

I closed my eyes, imagining it. Demon children running in fear as Angels cackled malevolently, pulling the trigger on their guns. Demons hiding in fear.

With exceptions. That had to mean her and her parents. What if Vaggie got killed? Or Nifty? Molly? Angel?

I knew my answer.

I opened my eyes, turning a firm eye to Charlie, one of resolve.

"Let's do it"

"Great!" Charlie beamed, standing up and walking over to her desk. "Let me add you to the paperwork."

I facepalmed. Of course, afterlives would have that stuff.

Two weeks later, I would be interviewed. As I trekked the forest, along came the creature known as Killjoy.
