Girl in the Roof

Chapter Text

Taylor was a bit over head

...Okay, maybe more than a bit over her head.

She finds Lung - accompanied by no less than 20 armed ABB members- and, instead of warning the PRT like a sane individual would, she actually attacks them all.

...Ok, If there were only a couple dozen gang members who could have forgiven herself for taking the risk. Her power made her perfect for taking large groups of non-parahumans by surprise at a comfortable distance. She had the gang subdued quite easily without leaving the safety of the nearby roof. The thing was ... Freaking Lung !

Even with more poison in his system than any normal man could survive he was still the Dragon of Kyushu. The man who fought Leviathan. Someone you either kill in one know while he is still human-insh or bring a entire team of heroes to have a chance of apprehending... And she provokes him in her first freaking day as hero.

Now she had a 2.5 meters-tall flaming man hiking the side of a building after her.

How does he even doing that? He just buried his fingertips into the building's exterior? Does he has claws now?

Ok. At this point, she could:

1. Try to run and hope that for some miracle she can escape.

2. Try to pepper spray his eyes and make her surviving bugs to get inside his throat ( the internet claimed that Lung did not actually spit fire like a fairy tail Dragon, therefore the would be able to hurt him undisturbed) and hope is enough.

3. Hope for a miracle.

And while most people would choose option 1, and Taylor herself choose option 2, turns out that option 3 was the right one this time.

Before the warlord could reach the roof of the building a portal opened, not 4 foot from his head, and a stream of what Taylor would later learn was liquid nitrogen, rained right at the raging dragons face.

As Taylor would also learn later, that would have killed a normal man by making all the tissues in his head freeze in a few seconds.

Luckily, the gang boss was far from normal - and was on fire at the moment - so the nitrogen was only bothersome enough to make him fall from his hike.

Lung fell head first in the hard street shattered, a web of cracks spreads from his landing spot.

"Holy shit!" Taylor cursed, to surprised to be relieved at the sudden help.

Lung did not take more than 5 seconds to recover, though. At least 2 feet taller than before.

" Impressive... this Constant escalation power of yours is pretty unique. It violates a lot of standard reality rules..." It took a while for Taylor to detect the source of the voice.

More 6 meters from the Drangon, standing casually next to a lamp post there was a hooded figure.

" Do you think you got a limit? Or can you escalate until you her as big as mounta-"

" Youh Di Thihs !? I hwill kihll youh !" The villain interrupted, lunging for the mysterious man who... just stands there? With his hands in his pockets?

Is this guy insane? I got to do some-

Before Taylor could even think about stepping up the villain was in the ground.

What the-

" He opened a portal inside Lung's body." The said from behind the bug-master.

Taylor turned with a gasp to find 4 costumed capes, 2 of which were mounted in... monsters? Let's go with monsters.

"Instead of beating Lung's armored and flaming exterior he just opened a portal on his soft insides. His heart maybe? Gave him a sudden heart attack?" The girl continued.

" I - You- Wha?- Are you- Are you guys with him?" She pointed to the streets, internally cursing herself for not noticing this teams arrival and getting tangled with her words.

" Not yet." The blonde in the domino-mask answered." But judging by how he just one-shoted Lung, we are recruiting the hell out him."

Hey ! I damaged the baddie too you know! The newbie hero wanted to say, before she realized it would sound kind of lame coming from someone who was panicking and about to die a few seconds ago.

"We will talk about it later." The guy in a skull mask said, observing the street below, where the hooded man seemed to be examining the fallen villain.

"I vote yes to that !" A lazy-sounding male interjected from the monster.

"Regent. Later!"

The girl grinned, rolling her eyes at her teammates antics. " We are going to say hello to him." She pointed down. "You wanna come?" she offered.

"Well..."

Rainer was not a surprise to see more costumed people getting down from the building. He had seemed them roaming around the area in their monster-dogs. The 6th one - this girl in black- was a surprise, but not a big one. There is a lot of powered people using costumes all around this city... This was why he was in this world, he guessed...

This place was not home... but he felt like he belongs... What was more of them he got in his old life.

Plus, the freedom is... Blissful.

"Are you new in Brockton Bay?" The man in lather clothing and a skull mask asked, taking Reiner out of his own mind.

"Not really."

The group exchanged quick glances, looking confused -except for the blond girl, who was trowing him a wolfish smile.

Hmn, a hot girl is smiling at me. This is already a good day. The boy thinks, blushing under his mask.

"We have not being heard of a cape with your abilities and description before..." The man in leathers continues.

"I prefer to not be noticed."

He did. Even without groups like the foundation around, it was still safer to not get attention.

"What do you answer for in your cape persona? " The blond asked, confusing the others with her way of questioning, but making it easier to the boy understand.

"Me... I am just your friendly neighborhood Keter."
