Hello there, so here is my first attempt at Sirius/Severus, and though I have yet to read any fanfic with this pairing, the idea has been in my head for a few months now so here we are. IT IS SET IN THE PAST, SO NO GOLDEN TRIO !

A few things you should know : english is not my first language, I will take liberty with J.K's work and skip/add/delete anything I can't or won't work with. The shrieking shack's incident won't be happening at all. Also I am quite a romantic person and I sometime unconsciously switch to fluff while writing. That's all for now, please enjoy !

Here they're all in their sixth year and Lily, Snape's bff, still hates the marauders.

P.S. : If anyone following me stumble upon this, I apologize for my other ongoing stories, I swear if I get the inspiration I will continue them.

Summary

"We could..." His throat tightened, his whole being rebelling against what was trying to work its way out of his mouth, but as small of a shimmer it had been a second before, it was now a blinding light, the plan clearer than anything else in his mind. When he picked up where he'd left on, his voice was firm and clear. "We could help each other. You want Potter and I Lily."

Chapter 1

Severus Snape minded his own business, having already finished brewing his Veritaserum half an hour ago, not thanks to the manual's instructions nor his teacher's help. Slugghorn was way too busy helping James I'm-a-disaster Potter to notice anybody else. Severus sighed as he finished adding his last remarks to his copy of Advanced Potion-Making. Advanced, my arse.

His friend Lucius wasn't in this class, as he had chosen to settle for regular potion making since their sixth year. Lily though almost as talented as himself for potions, was in the afternoon class.

Severus sighed again as he felt something glimy running down his right leg. Potter and Black had cast the pants-full-of-slimy-jelly spell on him the day before, but he still had some appearing then and there. Thanksfully, talented as he was, a wandless wordless cleaning spell was an easy trick for the young wizzard who took care of the matter in a few seconds.

"That's it for today class ! Mister Potter, put that hippogriff feather down right now ! Don't forget your essay on the virtue of Lux Rosaceas !"

Severus gathered his belongings and headed out. He loved Defence Against the Dark Arts, which he had in common with both Lily and Lucius. Though he had to ditch one of the two every other time, as Lucius' prejudiced pureblood arse couldn't stand Lily's muggleborn presence. It was a feat that they even got along considering his own background.

"Hey Sev !" his first and best friend greeted him when he entered the classroom.

He couldn't help the smile spreading across his face. She was beautiful, and always had a smile ready for him. Yes, almost ten years later and he was still lugging around his unrequited love for his red haired friend.

"You ready to get your butt kicked ?" she laughed leading him to a free spot along the right side of the room.

"You're dr-"

He was cut off by a beam of colourful magic cutting between him and Lily to hit the wall. Their head snapped to the side to take in the moving picture etched onto the wall : a cartoonish Lily dancing the french cancan. As usual, Lily got into a heated argument with the presumed artist who was none other than James Potter. This had been going on for six years now... James' crush on Lily was as ridiculous as his own, except for the fact that he at least got along with her, whereas JAmes was still stuck at pulling her pigtails in order to get her to notice him.

Severus wanted to get between them. He really wanted to, but he was starting to get this feeling. It had started last year and it was only growing stronger. The feeling that Lily enjoyed fighting with this dumbass, the feeling that it was more than disdain that had her talking about him everyday and somehow they managed to make everyone feel like they were intruding when they were together. It annoyed the heck out of him and Severus spent way too many hours pondering on it, trying to come up with a plan to get them to stop growing closer. He had yet to come up with anything.

"Here is Snivellus !" shouted the voice belonging to the one person Snape hated more than Potter, making him tear his eyes from Lily's form.

For six years now, Black and Potter had made Severus' life hell everytime they got bored. Severus still remembered what happened last year when they showed everyone his underpants in the gardens. He frowned as he remembered how, in blind fury, he had insulted Lily as she had tried to stop them. Thanks Merlin, she had understood that he was just humiliated and didn't mean it. It had been hard to get her to forgive him, and he still resented the dimwits for pushing him into a corner like that.

Potter was bad enough, but it seemed like it was Black who enjoyed bullying him the most. No matter where or when, if he could find Severus he would. Even Potter sometimes got bored and let him be, but Sirius Black lived and breathed to make the slytherin's life hard. It was ridiculous.

"A dog shouldn't leave his owner's side, Black." Severus sneered looking his way.

"don't worry I think your leash is long enough to spar with me."

He was going to refuse him in the most hateful way, he even had a scading retort on the tip of his tongue, but then Lily shouted hexes and Professor Keppling chose to announce the sparing session open.

How ugly was the satisfied smirk on Black's face then. Frowning, Sirius threw a curse his way. This went on and on. Honestly, Sirius Black was a good sparing partner, he was in a better physical shape, had more sheer strength and a more powerful magic than Severus, but Severus had more control over his magic, he was more creative and quick on his feet. They were the best sparing partners on paper, completing each other perfectly, enabling them to draw the best in the other and work on their own weaknesses. But the fight wasn't only magical, insults were constantly exchanged. Sirius threw them with an amused smile on his face, childish pleasure stretched across his face, while Severus frowned looking lke he had murder on his mind. And during those times, when he was busy sparring with Sirius, the slytherin always forgot about everything else : his friends, Lily...

Keppling whistled the end of the class far too soon for his liking and he couldn't stop himself from throwing a last hex, throwing Sirius, who had turned his head toward the teacher, against the wall.

"Mister Snape ! How ungentlemanly of you ! That is no way to spar ! You may join me for an hour of detention this evening !"

It was worth it, he thought as he watched Potter and Lupin helping their friend back up on his feet.

oOoOo

During lunchtime, Severus sat with the slytherins, and he recounted his morning to Lucius Malfoy, his second best friend, and Regulus Black, who despite his horrible brother, was quite a decent block, just as prejudiced as Lucius, a bit stuck up, but a cool lad still. The trio, though Regulus was a year younger, liked to hang together since they met through the slug club during their second year.

Next it was Lucius' turn to tell them about his day, and as nice a girl as Narcissa was, Severus spaced out during his friend's speech. On their own, his eyes went to the gryffindor table. Lily sat with Patricia Rakepick, but Potter was talking to her. Though they looked like they were arguing, Severus didn't miss the way the corners of their lips were turned nor the amusement shining in their eyes. He sighed as his eyes trailed further to the left, right beside Potter. Sirius was looking at the couple with something akin to anger in his eyes. Was it also disgust ?

Severus was mesmerized. He had never noticed how the oldest Black looked at his best friend. What the hell ? Lupin always seemed friendly. Pettigrew was a nuisance but never had he shown any animosity towards Lily.

"Come one Sev," Lucius patted his shoulder standing up. Caught off guard, Snape snapped his head up toward his standing friend and quickly followed him. They were probably going to laze around the lake, they liked to hang there after lunch.

oOoOo

Professor Keppling was an interesting man. He had sparred with Severus. Probably he had hoped to humiliate him, but Severus was a quick study, and he gladly took the opportunity to learn advanced spells. An hour flew by as he tried to keep up, and by the end of his detention, Severus was drenched in sweat. He wanted to run to his dormitory to jump in the common bathroom, but he remembered that headless Nick hung there a lot lately and he honestly didn't want the headache, so he turned and headed to the Quidditch lockers. Training was over by now, and the showers would be free.

He would later blame it on exhaustion, but he didn't notice the gryffindor sport gears on the bench, nor did he hear the muffled voices.

Severus quickly stripped naked and attached a towel around his waist. Grabbing a bar of soap he entered the showers but he wasn't two steps in when he had to stop. Severus Tobias Snape had spent his whole childhood in a shabby muggle suburb and had been sorted into Slytherin in Hogwarts, in other words : he had seen loads already. But this ? He wasn't prepared to see.

Sirius effing Black shagging Tim Dorden.

For a second, he was frozen in shock, mouth hanging low open. A second later, his brain kicked in and before the couple even noticed him, he turned around and made to run away. The plan was to quietly get away and find a calm place to ponder what he had just walked in, what happened was quite different. His foot happened to find the soap he had dropped in his shock sending him flying forward. Severus made to get up as he heard the startled gasps and curses from behind, but his foot caught his towel and right then and there he just wanted to die.

The next twenty seconds were spent in the most horrid silence he had ever submitted to. Then he heard running footsteps and he relaxed a little, praying for it to be Black running away.

Now homosexuality wasn't as much of a taboo as it was amongst muggles. Wizzards were more openminded in that aspect, probably because if need be even men could procreate, though it was a lot more difficult. But many, most being purebloods, still frowned upon it.

Black and Tim were both purebloods, and if the first didn't seem to give a damn, the latter did.

Shite. Tim was the one who got away. Lucky bastard.

"I do enjoy the view, but this is getting awkward" said Black, amusement dripping from his voice.

Severus was up and private body parts hidden faster than humanly possible. Damn, he wasn't supposed to be the one blushing ! He wasn't the one who had been caught in such a disgusting position.

"You disgust me," Severus threw back, snarling, trying to will his blush away. Maybe Black will pass it off as a reaction to the heat of the water still pouring down behind him.

"I didn't take you for a homophobic arse," Black said in a weird voice, his smirk now looking forced.

"I'm not, you knob. But you're still disgusting. Doing it in the shower ! Erk, you're still naked !" The slytherin shook his head in disgust.

"What ?" he asked absent-mindedly, reaching for the towel he had hooked on the wall separating two stalls and quickly hiding his nudity.

Severus sighed in relief and allowed himself to relax then, because Black was turning tomato red.

"What are you even doing here ?!" He shouted, running a hand through his wet hair, making them stick up every ways. "You don't play Quidditch !"

"Yes, but the showers are usually free and not the scene to animal mating !"

"Y-You ! I-" The gryffindor stammered, his face turning even redder.

"Shove it, I don't care," Severus smirked, enjoying this turn in situations. Usually, he didn't have the upper hand. He was going to make the most of it. And what better way of spitting his nemesis than walking away without letting any space for him to come back.

Mustering all the disdain available in his body, he threw him the most superior look he could and walked away.

"Snivellus ! You-" The rest was left unheard as he magically dressed up and left the lockers, almost running away when he was out of sight to avoid having Black ruin his grand exit.
