"How does it feel, Warp Darkmatter, seeing the face of a fallen Space Ranger?"
It was dark, embarked on a mission that meant getting home after the kids had dinner with a nanny bot taking care of them
"I wouldn't know."
"A beautiful falsehood, lying to yourself, denying the feelings, seeing the dead had came back to life."
The Evil Emperor's wicked laughter echoed through the air sending goose bumps down his skin. More frightening than torture. The Evil Emperor no where in sight, but his voice and his laughter being the only thing audible.
"The dead's long gone." he found the strength to speak.
"How does it feel, knowing, that you didn't do right by him?"
The Evil Emperor laughed, appearing from behind a thick tree, a blast sending the Space Ranger falling and crashing into a collection of chopped up log then falling over on to his side. The Space Ranger lifted up, the Evil Emperor laughing, glaring toward his once well esteemed employer, then picked up a piece of a log and threw it after the Evil Emperor. The Evil Emperor was caught off guard, helm twirling, until clenching it and stopping the spinning. The Evil Emperor grew outright furious and fired after the Space Ranger with his on blaster. The Space Ranger grinned, dodging the blasts, laughing at the easily distracted Evil Emperor.
The rookie that he was mentoring was busy breaking apart the Evil Emperor's scheme, fresh out of the academy; Rookie Fisher. Fisher was going at it alone, he had faith in her. She had displayed over the last few weeks that she was a capable Space Ranger when it came to handling problems that mad scientists were making, prospective rulers of an entire planet, smugglers, kings and queens who desired to take down the Galactic Alliance, and other notable figures that made being a Space Ranger being a thrill armed with their weapons, other skill, and goons. Warp ran into a shelter then fled out the other way and quietly closed the door behind him. He knocked on the front door a short moment later the door then stepped back, pressing his back against the wall, and the Evil Emperor opened the door peering out.
"Can't you see that I'm busy right now?" Zurg peered out. "Nobody ordered pizza."
Warp slammed the door close then looked off spotting the main arm of the evil scheme exploding into brilliant pieces.
"Curse you, Warp Darkmatter!" Zurg swore, distantly.
Warp heard a loud explosion and was knocked back landing to the ground.
"Craters!"
Zurg towered over the Space Ranger.
"You're getting a little too old for this type of field work." Zurg noted, his amusement all but gone. "Being a Space Ranger until death?" the amusement returned to his voice with some perplexed tone in it. "Following in the footsteps of your fallen partner?" a series of taunts that got under the Space Ranger's nerves. "You know you'll be demoted to a rookie with this drive, eventually, should you survive this encounter!"
Warp leaped out of the way then picked up a trash can lid and chucked it at the Evil Emperor's helm.
"Ow!" Zurg cried out.
The Evil Emperor rubbed the side of his helm then looked over toward the Space Ranger's direction and proceeded to fire.
"Hey, EVIL THINGMAJIG!"
Zurg turned around in the direction of Ranger Fisher then fled with a scream as he was chased by a controlled supersonic missile
"Why doesn't he stand still for one moment, gosh darn it?"
Warp watched in amusement as the supersonic device was destroyed by flying hornets then the Evil Emperor retreated.
"He's right." Warp said.
Fisher looked toward the Space Ranger.
"About what?" Fisher asked.
Warp was staring toward the stars, imagining, his sadness replaced by a frown then turned away.
"About being on the field at this age." Warp said as he began to walk for the distant star cruiser with his mind made.
Fisher grew concerned for a short moment then smiled.
