Chapter 2 Beginnings
The day for Hogwarts' train to depart has come. Students all over the magical castle were hurriedly packing their stuff into their trunks and those who procrastinated their third year elective application were patiently making a line to get their applications to their head of houses. Harry and Hermione were currently walking away after giving theirs. With Harry attempting to lift the spirits of a depressed Hermione.
"…But why..."
"Hermione, you are my friend, but as Ron would say, it IS slightly insane that you even tried to take all electives"
"… I wanted to know more about magic…"
Harry sighed before a lightbulb shined in his mind "You could write to Mcgonagall during the Holidays to tell you what books they use so you can study in your free time"
Instantly Hermione perked up "Harry you Genius! That way I can also study at my own pace and would only need to ask a teacher for supervision when I need to do practicals!"
It wasn't long before they reached the common room and saw their housemates run around like scared chicken
They quickly moved to a corner where wouldn't disturb someone else as they stared at the others
"Do you think you may be able to test 'them' before we leave?" Hermione suddenly asked Harry
"No, I would need to enter the forbidden forest to test 'them' and then return, all before the train leaves" Replied Harry to the Enigmatic question
The 'them' they were talking about were Harry's Authorities. After they had calmed down and distracted Ron they had tried multiple times to go out alone to either the Chamber of Secrets or the Forbidden Forest to test the two 'things', Authorities, Harry could sense within him, however, due to the lack of exams and classes the professors were constantly on the prowl, so their excursions always ended without reaching their goal and strange looks whenever they replied to the questions with 'studying together'.
"I guess we can only try after the Holidays" Hermione commented while staring as the twins released a joke item that made everyone say a joke instead of excuse me. It made everyone's lips twitch whenever someone said an especially good joke, and it somehow made the people more orderly and calm as they laughed a little. Harry only sighed a little at the comment, he really hated living with his relatives but it was necessary to maintain his mother's protection.
Then Ron came barreling down the stairs from the male dorms, almost crashing into the floor. "Holy Crap! This is a mess!" "Ron, Language" Ron barely finished cursing before Hermione was already scolding him for it. Harry smiled and unknown to him, Hermione did too, truly Ron was what they needed right now, so as to distract them from the secrets they held.
Harry Potter: Campione
It was with growing horror that the Minister of Magic walked upon the street of Privet Drive on the morning of August 7th, Three Aurors accompanied him as he walked through the Notice-me-not wards and finally saw the true state of the house. Amelia Bones, who had come before he could wave away any investigation, had done a great job of quarantining the area and the muggles were oblivious that No. 4 Privet Drive was currently under the investigation of Witches and Wizards; and had in turn not limited herself and her investigation team to the subtler but vaguer investigation spells. This was made obvious as he saw her use one of the more obscure investigation spells of the Bones family that sounded out the voices and sounds of the conversation that happened the day before.
There WAS after all a reason the previously prolific Bones family was reduced to two women after the War.
As he got closer he could hear the tail end of a conversation, a very distasteful one at that "…then there's something wrong with the pup" "Shut up! Shut up!" "Right! Let me tell you…" Amelia stopped the spell and turned to him "…this is an obvious case of accidental magic by Mister Potter's side. His… Guardians insulted his birth parents constantly until his patience ran thin and with the emotional outburst vanished a third of the house, luckily the muggles were unharmed, though after this, it is quite probable that he will have to live somewhere else."
Cornelius sputtered indignantly at the information "Accidental magic?! Are you seeing this Amelia?!" Cornelius pointed to the hole in the wall that reached all the way to the second floor and the trench on the ground that would let a goblin walk within comfortably while out of sight "He has to have used dark magic to make it! Either casting it or using a ritual but no thirteen-year-old boy can do something like this!"
"I checked minister, there is no taint of dark magic in here" What Amelia did not explain was that she had detected and erased traces of divinity within the boy's magic, she would contact an old friend to deal with this "What I did detect was House elf magic, a bit over a year old, I would guess around the time that he was sent the Underage Magic Use warning, probably a pureblood friend that sent a letter through it. It seems I will need to talk to Mafalda about why the old detection Ward is not to be used anymore"
"So this… is the power of the Boy-Who-Lived? This is the power that defeated He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named? What in the world was born among us?" 'And if trained properly… Could it match a Campione?' Cornelius' thoughts, as expected of a politician if indeed a rather lackluster one, turned right into how useful Harry Potter could be to him. "Has the boy been found?"
"He hasn't been seen since he went out the door and around the corner" Amelia said while starting to walk outside the house, then she turned and looked at the minister at the eyes, distracting him, so that he didn't notice her casting an overpowered Anti-Magical Notice-me-not on what she knew were Blood Wards, dark magic, that Harry Potter obviously didn't cast. "If we find anything else I will make sure to inform you. I will go back to the office and file the preliminary investigation report and mark Mr. Potter as a runaway child of a neglectful household."
Cornelius stared at the woman for a moment, considering her words, before foolishly believing her and nodding "Ah, yes, indeed. I will be expecting to be the first person notified if Mr. Potter appears, however, there is another matter that I must speak with you about" Cornelius actually sounding competent, signaled to move away from the rest of the Aurors that were finishing the investigation by looking outside the house for any clues of the events "It is the matter of the Campione, you see, the British Association of Lads and Ladies for the Seal has contacted the Ministry about a matter of great importance."
"You mean B.A.L.L.S. has actually done something other than staring at the seal in the London Cage?"
"Amelia! You know they hate that acronym! They prefer B.A.O.L.A.L.F.T.S if anything" Fudge 'corrected' even if he was obviously holding his laugh "Anyways" coughing into his hand Cornelius then directed his eyes to the woman "The Seventh must be found quickly… the seal has been eroding since the activation of the prophecy." Fudge was internally pleased by the widening of Amelia's eyes "The period of chaos has started and I have received word from the Minister of Greece that Atalante and Achilles have materialized, the Japanese have stated that Inari, Takemi- a moment please" the seriousness of the situation was ruined due to the minister pulling a card out of his jacket "Take-mika-zuchi, yes that's the name and To-mo-e Go-zen have also done so, that's not all Amadioha, Morana, Ra, Morrigan… Heretic Gods are materializing like nothing, the Campione that attacked Britain, Amelina Yanovna was known as the strongest Campione due to having five authorities, when most of her peers only had three but already August Kruger has slayed Theseus"
Throughout the minister's rant Amelia saw how dire the situation had become and had raised the priority of finding Harry Potter to the top of her list "Please, calm down minister. Did the Association of the Seal ever find out what Heretic God did Grindelwald's Mages summon?"
"No, the priestess that they brought to the Area, describe it like trying to watch through a tornado"
Harry Potter: Campione
Harry Potter, the Boy-Who-Lived, Slayer of Basilisks, Banisher of Voldemort, and Seventh Campione… sat on the chair of a park with his trunk beside him. He couldn't go to the Wizarding World as he had done something that would get his wand snapped. Doubts appeared on his mind, one after the other, would he get jailed? Would he be forced to never use magic again? What if they found out he was a Devil King? Would they try to kill him? Would they think he was still human? Over and Over, Dark, Darker yet even Darker thoughts filled Harry's mind until he unconsciously looked down to the floor and his face, his expression, turned into an image of despair.
Before he could get fully into his mind though, a black dog, scruffy and dirty, walked up to him and licked his hand "Hey, there… I'm sorry but I don't have food" the dog just barked and then stood up on its back feet and gave one of his front paws, Harry couldn't help but laugh a little and gave his hand "Good day, sir, name's Harry Potter, runaway wizard? Magical creature? Dunno. What about you?"
"Sirius Black" Both the boy and the dog froze and turned to a woman that had black hair and light brown eyes, she was dressed like a muggle, if out of date, and her eyes were focused on the both of them, the more troubling thing however was the sudden lack of people around them and the wand in her hand. The dog, after staring for a bit, immediately started running with all of its might but it didn't get far when suddenly a blue phantasmal swan flew and sat upon the dog's back and pushed it against the ground despite his whines.
Harry was shocked by the events that were happening in front of him and with his wand inside of his trunk he was powerless in front of the witch… until he immediately remembered his authorities, he didn't know what would happen but he couldn't let that woman kill the dog "Sword of the Saint, Slayer of Dragons, Spear of the Knight, Savior of Maidens, Grant me with your presence once more!" The woman's eyes widened in alarm when what seemed like a silver spear with the head of a sword formed in his hand and he disappeared from his position only to suddenly have his spear pointing at her throat.
"Stop it!" demanded Harry while pointing the surprisingly light weapon at the woman "Don't kill the dog!"
The woman seemed to gain understanding of something before replying "I'm not your enemy, your majesty, nor am I planning to kill the man that was acting like a dog, although, after you know what he has done you may change your opinion." As if on cue the dog transformed and became a man in dirty rags. "May I explain myself, your majesty?"
Harry closed his eyes and lowered the spear, his mind briefly wondering what had his life become if one second he was playing with a dog and now that dog was a man that a woman that treated him like royalty just captured. Opening his eyes, he found the woman staring at him "Err… Right, you may speak" The only consolation was that the man that was originally a dog, looked just as confused.
"My name is Eva Jameson, I am a Knight of the Order of the Red Dragon, a magical cabal within Britain that takes charge of helping contain and reduce the damage made by Heretic Gods and Divine Beasts. Today, I received a floo call from a former member that currently works within the Ministry of Magics' Department of Magic Law Enforcement due to the discovery that Harry Potter may be the Seventh Campione." The woman stated promptly.
Harry's jaw tightened and his stomach felt heavier at the thought of already being outed.
"The member in question did her best to hide any evidence that incriminates you and has filed the entire situation as a case of accidental magic due to stress and thus you will not be punished by this event, not that the ministry could in the first place. I have been sent along with others to try and locate you in London, which is why I found you, alongside the supposedly known serial killer Sirius Black" She explained while pointing at the man that was being held by the blue translucent swan.
Harry didn't immediately trust the woman, but seeing as she was his only source of information, he decided to hear the information that she held before making a decision "Um… Serial Killer? And why aren't you running away if you know I'm a Campione?" The woman was about to answer but was cut off by the sound of a crack and Harry immediately pointing his spear at it. From the area a woman suddenly appeared, this one dressed in the robes of a Witch, whose eyes immediately widened at seeing the spear pointed at her. "Who are you? How many more are coming?!" Harry at this point felt like a cornered animal and he was very close to lashing out.
The witch just slowly lowered her wand to the floor, making him calm down a little, before replying "My name is Amelia Bones, I am the former member of the Knight Order that hid the evidence about you being a Campione, and am the current Head of the Ministry of Magics' Department of Magic Law Enforcement, there is no one else coming; The moment Knight Jameson found you, she contacted back to base about your location so that I could pick you up and inform you about anything you need to know"
Sirius, who until now was silent due to the shock of finding out that Harry had become a Campione, snapped out of his shock when he saw Amelia Bones "Amelia Bones…? You have to catch him! He is at Hogwarts! He is at Hogwarts! Don't let him get close to Harry!"
Amelia was, for a second, shocked due to Sirius Black being present but that shock quickly turned to anger the moment she saw him "Shut up, you damn traitor! Do you think I am stupid?! I knew all about Dumbledore's Order and that you and my brother were members! You very well could have sold him, his wife and daughter, the same way you sold the Potters and their son, despite being the boy's Godfather"
Sirius wasn't deterred "I. Didn't. Sell. Them. I would have died long before my mouth would have said the location where James and his family were. The true traitor escaped that night and is at Hogwarts, you have to catch him!" Sirius wiggled desperately under the swan that was attached to his back and was using its wings to wrap around him "There is a newspaper in my pocket! Take it out! The rat! It is Pettigrew!"
Amelia just watched him in disdain "You have truly gone insane then. To the point that you believe that your cover was real. You killed Peter Pettigrew and multiple muggles, you destroyed him so badly that only his finger was left."
Harry, who didn't even have the time to get angry at the possibility that this man had possibly sold his parents to Voldemort, however walked up to the man and searched his pocket until he found the newspaper in question, a single page that focused on the Weasleys. His mind moved a mile a minute to organize the details that he was given by both Amelia Bones and Sirius Black. Peter Pettigrew. Animal Transformation. Weasleys. Single Finger. Scabbers. His eyes widened as the pieces were ordered together and he found that only a few things were needed to complete the picture. "Umm" Sirius and Amelia just kept bickering as she insulted the man and Sirius just kept trying to argue that Pettigrew was alive "Er…" Eventually, Eva noticed that Harry wished to speak.
"Silence! His majesty desires to speak"
Harry sent a look of gratefulness to her before speaking "Mrs. Bones, you are sure that only a finger and nothing more was found of him?"
Amelia composed herself with a cough before replying "Yes, indeed. The curse used is unknown to us and the results were devastating enough that no one dared to inspect his wand under the fear of that curse being leaked but one of the things that we found out was that only Pettigrew's finger was left. Not even the Mortuus Improvi was able to reconstruct his corpse."
Harry nodded before turning to Sirius "That animal transformation thing… Did anyone else at the Order learn it?"
Sirius, seeing the train of thought of his godson, quickly explained "Yes, your father, me and Pettigrew became Animagus during our time at Hogwarts, a Stag, a Dog and a Rat respectively"
Amelia had a flash of understanding pass in her eyes "So that's how you escaped Azkaban!"
Harry gulped before turning to Amelia "The newspaper he was referring to has a photo of the Weasleys, of them and my friend's pet rat, Scabbers. A rat that has a missing toe"
Amelia's eyes widened as the pieces of the puzzle started to fit together but stopped at a single distrustful thought "What if it's a lie, a convenient and very realistic, misdirection? If what this man is saying is true, we can't take him to the ministry, but if what he is saying is a lie we can't let a murderous maniac on the loose"
"I believe that my order may have a solution to that, we can have him locked up in the headquarters of our order" Sirius looked like he wanted to argue but stopped at the placating look Eva sent him "Meanwhile we you can investigate this rat, and if it turns out to be true we get him a trial, if it turns out to be false then we turn him to the DMLE for him to be kissed"
"Kissed?" asked a confused Harry
"Dementors, Mr. Potter, they suck out your soul through your mouth in a manner similar to a kiss. You can find out about them in books about Magizoology." Replied Amelia
"Now that this matter is solved there is another we have to fix. Your majesty, would you prefer to change locations before explaining?"
It was at that point that Harry realized that the Park was still empty and that they were in an open location "Right, that would be good, err, where do we go?"
Then Amelia said the one frase he didn't want to hear "We will need to take the Knight Bus"
Harry Potter: Campione
She smiled alongside her parents as they walked and took photos around France. It was generally nice that she could relax after the stressful year that had just passed at Hogwarts, especially considering that she hadn't lost consciousness during her petrification and had spent months in darkness with only Harry and Ron's visits to stimulate her brain. Indeed, after such an experience she couldn't help but feel relaxed and satisfied by walking around and experiencing new things.
Hermione couldn't be happier that her parents had taken her to vacation in France.
Of course, she missed her friends as she always did during vacations, but it was a feeling that was held down by the sense that she could now spend time with her family. Even more so, there was the fact that her parents could see more of the magical world in France due to the ministry in the country being deceptively proactive in its relation with the muggles. She had read about the fact that extended family could know in France but the effect it actually had was fascinating to her, after all, at this point at least a third of France knew about the magical world but stayed silent to protect their family members from being treated like rare animals by other countries' governments.
She and her parents had just visited a Museum of Archaeological Discoveries of Proelefsi and were very surprised and interested in the lost History of Magic that resided under Antarctica. Especially considering that legends around the entirety of the continent described what obviously sounded like a Witch entering the planet through a star and procreating with the natives. If it was a misinterpretation due to the understanding of the people of the time or if it was literal was something that Hermione's mind couldn't help but fantasize about.
It was fun and her parents were having fun.
Then a woman walked up to her "So it is you…" All at once Hermione felt like she couldn't move, her body trembled and sheer terror invaded her mind to the point that her fight or flight instinct was overruled and made useless by the mere presence of the woman, primal fear crawled and twisted in her brain as her limbs, her mouth and her tongue suddenly felt like stone and wouldn't move. "You stink of one… I wonder how could such a contradictory being such as them could stand to have such a normal creature like you by their side?" The woman looked at behind her and with terror Hermione realized that she was looking at her parents 'Harry…' the thought of calling his brave friend came to her mind but it also calmed her, it reminded her that while greater than ever before she had already sensed this fear twice. "Like you, neither of them are special…" the woman's no, now that she could finally think clearly, this wasn't a woman but an incarnation of death, a Heretic Goddess? The people around weren't panicking enough. The answer came to Hermione like thunder hitting a tree.
The Divine Ancestors words stopped the moment Hermione raised her hand as if to protect her parent and then pulled out her wand and pointed it at her "Stay away from them"
"I can see it in your eyes, you know what I am, you even know that I represent death… yet you do not fear me… No, the right answer is that you are brave enough to stand before me despite sensing death looking directly at you" The Divine ancestor's eyes were red, then yellow, the purest of greens before she smiled. The smile was the thing that made Hermione notice that throughout all of this the Divine ancestor had been making human expressions and that no one had died so far. "I see now… maybe if your King is willing to help me… I shall give you a gift for your bravery."
Then she walked away, with Hermione and her parents just staring as she called a taxi and disappeared within it. It was moments later that her mother collapsed to her knees and her dad hugged them both.
She was relieved when the French Aurors came and explained to her parents what had happened.
Harry Potter: Campione
It was a magical item.
Since long, very long, before Albus Dumbledore was born Seers have existed. Why, one only has to look at muggle history and you would find that the ability to see the future has existed alongside the beginnings of man. Thus it was not beyond expectation that an artifact to determine whether or not a prophecy has come to pass. Back when the ministry was first established the Department of Mystery just had 'Prophecy Candidates' try and pick one of the orbs in the Hall of Prophecies, their quite probable death not being something they knew before doing it. This lasted until someone, it was unknown who, created the Sphere of Damocles.
It was a magical item, made of twisting marble and yew wood taking a form similar to bird bath but too profound to be one it held misty waters that sometimes would look like eyes looking at you, at the very middle an extremely transparent sphere that held at its core a trace of Apollo's divinity, on top of this sphere a knife would float, waiting to be released. It was an incredible creation where you just recited the prophecy to the sphere and then waited for the moment the knife falls. The knife falls the moment it detects the crystal ball about to melt from the heat due to a change in its energy. The knife then falls and takes the sphere to the liquid cold where even the sun-like energy turns to steam as it heats the surrounding potion. Leaving at the end just the knife piercing the marble.
Right now the Orb laid at the bottom of a fountain filled with potion, its middle pierced with a knife, something that he had only discovered after he thought to check the incredibly obscure item.
Albus Percival Brian Wulfric Dumbledore worried for Harry the moment he saw that; had Voldemort killed him? Has Voldemort survived? Or had Harry survived and the nightmare was finally over? Had both of them died? Checking other devices like the baby monitor, showed that harry was alive and he was not sick, nor wounded, while checking other items that he had obtained through the contacts he had obtained through Grindelwald, very dark items, showed that Tom Riddle was alive, and that his magic was still a bit below that of a ghost but above that of a spirit.
It was then that a hopeful thought appeared within his mind 'Was it possible…? Did the prophecy end due to the events that occurred in the chamber of secrets?' Hope bloomed within the old man's heart.
Prophecies were not a joking matter, despite the appearance of beauty or mystery that Professor Trelaway gave the ability to become a Seer, most prophecies were tragic rather than useful. You have Achilles, a man that historically existed during a time where witches and wizards lived alongside the non-magicals, who already knew he was going to die during the war of Troy, but the example that most disturbed Dumbledore, was Oedipus.
Attempts to stop or derail a prophecy may result in making it become true.
He lived in fear, fear of making things worse, if he attempted to search for the Horcruxes, would Tom suddenly decide to make more? What if in his actions he tilted the scales of the future towards Harry's loss? There were so many variables he could see coming into play, things that could make things better, things that could make things worse but now… as he checked the item that checked the state of Harry's Horcrux only to find it 'dead', he couldn't help but at least be happy.
Harry no longer had to fight against Voldemort. And now the responsibility to fight the dark lord could be finally transferred to an older, less innocent soul.
"You're free Harry" were the only words that left Dumbledore's mouth as he stared at a case that held the sword of Gryffindor.
Harry Potter's Current Authorities
Remnant: Ananshesha is know to survive the end of time itself and thus this authority makes the user passively unable to be affected by time and when active turn into invincibility by pulling Harry out of time. This comes at a price and the authority drains Harry's magic deserves extremely quickly.
Ascalon: The famous sometimes sword, sometimes spear of Saint George, this authority presents itself as a swordstaff that increases all defenses of the user to mythical levels. It is still a divine serpent slaying blade, so it can damage gods and has boosted damage against serpents. It seems like a lacking authority until you use its secret ability by calling its name...
