A week or two ago, an hour after the USJ incident
"Sensei… I failed." Shigaraki said as he scratched his neck aggressively. He was livid. That damn Izuku Midoriya had ruined his plans and killed his Nomu! Everything had gone wrong and it pissed him off.
"Calm down. Take this as a learning experience. Think, what quirks did the students have? And what weaknesses did your men have?" The TV above him asked as Shigaraki pondered it.
"Three of them had powerful quirks. One was an elemental user, another was a demolition expert, and a boy by the name of Izuku Midoriya could shapeshift and switch classes. As for our men's weaknesses, they were bumbling idiots who had no idea what they were doing." Shigaraki said as he sat down in front of the bar Kurogiri was behind.
"Good observations. That boy's quirk, Izuku Midoriya, was it? What did it look like, pray tell?" All For One asked as Shigaraki scoffed.
"He had this watch on his left wrist and transformed into these monsters. Each of them had that damn emblem on their chests." Shigaraki said as All For One hummed.
"Can you describe that symbol to me?"
"It was a green hourglass. I swear that kid was hacking! I mean I touched him and he didn't even decay! He fucking cycled to a form that could regenerate and just cut his arm off!" Shigaraki complained as All For One contemplated his words.
'A green hourglass… No, it couldn't be. That was so… long ago.'
"So what do you need, Tomura? Is it more Nomu? Or is it something else?" All For One asked the boy in an effort to have him think strategically.
"I need men who aren't complete idiots. So quality members instead of a larger quantity of members." Shigaraki said and All For One hummed.
"Correct. Think on that and I promise you, you'll construct a force that will be able to take on even the U.A faculty." The TV turned off, leaving Tomura to think about the attack in a new light.
Meanwhile, All For One thought about the boy with green hair, Tomura had described. The watch, the green hourglass, it all pointed to one thing.
'The greatest transformation quirk of all time has resurfaced. One that would give All Might a run for his money.'
All For One used a quirk to pull up images of Izuku Midoriya, his home address, and public record directly into his brain.
'Quirkless for 14 years, gains a quirk in time for U.A, has an overseas father, and a single mother. My, my, this is interesting.'
All For One chuckled, "A quirk to rival my own… in the hands of a child."
Izuku Midoriya sat down in front of the principal, trying to make sense of his situation. So far, it was not going well.
"So… you're telling me… I gave birth?" Izuku blurted out, causing the bear, dog rat, creature in front of him to spit out his tea. Mei hummed happily, confusing Izuku even more.
"Er… well… yes?" Principal Nezu said, wiping some of the tea dripping out from his mouth. Izuku took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
'I… what?'
"Mei, what exactly did you do with that sample I gave you?" Izuku said, turning to the pink-haired girl, the Galvanic Mechamorph still in her arms.
"Well, I experimented on it a bit! I wasn't really gonna use it for anything yet, I was still coming up with ideas. But now I don't have to! 30 minutes ago, the sample turned into Ship! He's so cute isn't he?" Mei said, holding up the Galvanic Mechamorph for Izuku to see. She moved the Galvanic Mechamorph's arms around, which Izuku begrudgingly agreed was very cute.
"Ship?" Izuku asked and the Galvanic Mechamorph chirped happily.
"Ship!" Ship said happily as Izuku put his hands over his face. Nezu seemed to be perfectly calm as he watched the two before him.
"H-How? How does that even work? Where did Ship even come from?" Izuku said, raising his head from sweaty palms. Mei hummed and snapped her fingers.
"My Mom says that when two people love each other very much-"
Nezu coughed into his fist, chuckling a bit as Izuku turned scarlet.
"Well, as for Ship's conception goes, that's not really what's important. What is important is that we must tell Hatsume over here about the true nature of your quirk and well… everything else." Nezu said, making Izuku's eyes widen.
"H-Huh? Seriously?" Izuku asked as Mei looked at the two of them weirdly.
"Isn't Izuku's quirk just transforming into those cool forms?" Mei asked as Nezu shook his head.
"No, Izuku's quirk is not his ability to transform. Actually, he does not have a quirk at all. The watch on his wrist is of alien origin and he uses it to transform into various alien species found across the universe." Nezu said bluntly as Izuku whirled around to look at Mei's reaction.
"Huh. Cool." Mei said with a completely straight face. Izuku looked at her dumbfounded. The principal had just told her that aliens existed and that Izuku's quirk was actually an alien device and she had not even reacted.
"Y-You do realize what he just said right?" Izuku asked Mei who nodded.
"Aliens are real. Your watch is an alien device. You turn into aliens. And we're the parents to the cutest alien baby in the galaxy." Mei said as Izuku nodded.
"Huh. Oh, okay- wait what?" Izuku said, his face turning even redder if that was even possible. Nezu gave a hearty chuckle.
"Oh my, already, Midoriya? Well then, I won't keep you here. Fear, not Hatsume you are allowed to keep Ship, we'll make up a cover story for her soon. But for today, can you leave her here? You'll get her back tomorrow I promise." Nezu said as Mei bit her lip.
"I guess. Make sure to take good care of her." Mei stood up and plopped Ship on his table who was less than ecstatic. Ship whined until Nezu began to pet the Galvanic Mechamorph, easing her. Walking away, Mei waved to Izuku who was still trying to process what was going on and walked out of the Principal's office.
"So how are you going to cover up Ship's existence?" Izuku asked, looking at Ship who was playing with a pen on Nezu's desk.
"Well, we can just pass her off as a dog with a mutation quirk. Or we could tell the truth with slight differences, but no matter what, I won't try to take her away from your friend. I'm not cruel." Nezu said as Izuku nodded.
"Is that all, sir?" Izuku asked and Nezu had a contemplative look.
"Oh, wait actually there is something I need to tell you. Tracy will be attending U.A soon. Try to make sure she doesn't cause too much trouble for me please?" Nezu said and Izuku frowned.
"Is she going to be in the hero course?" Izuku asked and Nezu shook his head.
"No, she'll be attending General Studies. I've taught her enough Japanese that she won't have to use her Plumber translator anymore. She's mostly going here to pursue her dream while also having the convenience of being close by in case of any Plumber-related emergencies. Speaking of which, I'll have another mission for you after the Sports Festival. Be prepared if I call you in from one of your classes before the internships." Nezu said and Izuku nodded as he stood up and began to walk out the door.
"See you, sir," Izuku said, waving goodbye. Nezu held up his paw in acknowledgment and Ship barked happily as he closed the door.
Izuku simply stood outside the door for a few seconds until a long deep sigh escaped his mouth.
'What a weird day.'
Izuku walked out into the arena as he gazed around uneasily. This was the event that Izuku had been training for.
The Sports Festival.
And, Izuku had a handicap.
He looked to his left wrist and there still sat the prototype Omnitrix. He chuckled nervously as he ran his hand across the faceplate. Azmuth assured him that he would get the official Omnitrix after the Sports Festival, just in time for his internships.
The crowd cheered as he and his class walked into the stadium. Izuku looked around and saw his classmates and the other classes walking into the arena also. He almost did a double-take when he saw the purple-haired boy looking straight at him. Izuku looked away as he felt the boy's eyes bore into his head
'W-What's his problem?' Izuku thought as Present Mic introduced his class and the other classes to the overwhelming audience of the Sports Festival. Izuku was probably the only one that knew that there were way way more people watching this festival.
As in, the entire universe.
"Midoriya are you okay? You look pale." Iida asked Izuku, who looked at him. He tried to smile.
"Y-Yeah. I'm fine! Perfectly fine! Hahahaha!" Izuku said, laughing nervously as he felt another cold gaze on him, this time from Shoto Todoroki. Izuku turned to look at the boy and quickly looked away after he saw the look he was giving.
Izuku gulped as he remembered how Shoto Todoroki had waged war on him. He barely talked to the guy! But it did make sense on why he did it.
'I'm unpredictable. And I have a quote-on-quote quirk, that lets me adapt to any situation. He thinks I'm the top dog. But still. Why couldn't he antagonize Bakugou or something?' Izuku thought as his eyes fell upon Mei Hatsume who was cradling a very excited Ship in her arms. Izuku's eyes widened, mouth agape.
'Wh-why'd she bring her along? Is she even allowed to do that?' Izuku thought as he kept walking, his eyes transfixed on the pink-haired girl. Izuku was quickly taken out of his stupor as he heard his name get called.
"Izuku Midoriya? Izuku Midoriya of Class 1-A?" Midnight asked from the podium as the rest of the class backed away from Izuku.
"Huh?" Izuku asked as he pointed to himself. Izuku did not like how all the attention was suddenly on him.
"You'll be representing the first years in our school pledge!" Midnight said as Izuku gaped and turned white.
"O-Oh. Uh….." Izuku stood there as some of the students snickered.
"This guy's really our representative?"
"I mean he did score first on the entrance exam."
"The hero's entrance exam."
Izuku gulped as Uraraka gave a little shove for him to go forward. He began to walk to the podium, he wished each step was about a few hundred years longer as he began to sweat furiously.
'No one said anything about me giving a speech! Actually, wait..' Izuku's mind wandered to a few days ago. He had been extremely tired after Azmuth's training and was about half awake when Aizawa had addressed him after school had ended
"Midoriya. You'll be giving the pledge this Sports Festival. Get a speech ready." Aizawa said as Izuku gave a weak thumbs up from his table, his face still on the desk.
'Wow, Mei's right. I am an idiot.' Izuku thought, his body trembling in front of the podium as Midnight silenced the students. The entire arena was quiet as they awaited Izuku's next words.
Izuku opened his mouth, but try as he might, no words came out. He looked around the crowd and saw that Mei and Ship were happily waving to him. He saw that Uraraka and Iida were vigorously nodding and that everyone looked at him expectantly.
He even saw Bakugou give him a thumbs up and a pained expression that looked between a sneer and smile. Izuku almost did a double-take at that. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes as he spoke.
"Not all men are born equal. That was the reality I learned when I was 4. Back then, from elementary school to junior high, n-no one believed in me. No one thought I'd be here, giving you this speech, at this school. T-To be honest, I didn't even think I would be here. But I am, and to me, that proves that anyone can get to this point. If the kid that was called u-useless and picked on is giving the speech at the U.A's Sports Festival, then anyone can make it." Izuku took another deep breath as he continued.
"Everyone here has something to prove, to themselves, to the world. If you asked me what I was trying to prove a year ago, I probably would've told you something different. But now, I'm going to prove to the world- no, the universe, and to myself, that I can be a hero. So everyone! Let's do our best! And go beyond! Plus Ultra!" Izuku said as he pumped his left hand, bearing the Omnitrix into the air.
The stadium and the students before him erupted into applause and cheers as Midnight gave him a sincere smile.
"Good job kid, you really fired them up." Midnight gave a small nod as Izuku walked back to his class. On the outside, he looked confident as he strode past everyone else. On the inside, he was too busy panicking to even show it.
'Oh my god. I just did that. I think I'm about to have a heart attack.' Izuku sweatdropped as his class stared at him in amazement.
"Woah, Midoribro! That was so cool!" Kirishima said, patting Izuku on the back. The rest of the class shared his sentiment, besides Bakugou, who was maintaining a healthy distance away from Izuku, and Todoroki who was eyeing the green-haired boy curiously.
"That was an exemplary speech! Bravo! Bravo!" Iida said, clapping as Uraraka vigorously nodded.
"Yeah! It was awesome! You got me all pumped up!" Uraraka said as she began to shadowbox the air. Midnight grabbed the mic as the big monitor in the stadium changed to say "The First Event."
"Without further ado! Let's get this thing started! The first game of the festival will be… The Obstacle Race!" Midnight said as she cracked her whip. Izuku almost breathed a sigh of relief. It was just a race.
And he had access to the fastest thing in the solar system for 10 minutes.
"Anything is allowed, of course, no serious harm to anyone though! Now, let's get this thing underway.
'Just run past everyone. I should be fine… right?' Izuku thought as he strode to the starting line. His hand was on the Omnitrix faceplate as he nervously twisted it.
One.
Izuku twisted the dial some more as he got ready to run.
Two.
Izuku kept twisting, left and right in anticipation.
Three.
Izuku twisted the faceplate one more time.
"Randomizer function activated." A voice rang out from the Omnitrix, startling the people around him and himself.
"Randomizer function? What's tha-" Izuku didn't have time to finish his sentence as he disappeared in a flash of green light.
"Begin!" Midnight yelled as the students rushed forward. Izuku was nowhere to be found as all the students began to run towards the tunnel. Everyone began to get crammed into the tunnel as Izuku realized his predicament.
"Waaaah!" Gray Matter yelled as he was nearly trampled over by another student. Gray Matter looked around and saw nothing but flailing bodies and feet out to get him. Thinking quickly, he jumped up on top of a student's shoulder, surprising them.
"Woah! What the fu-" Gray Matter leapt up from a General Studies shoulder towards the ceiling.
'Gosh darn it Omnitrix! Can't you just work right for once? Gray Matter in a race? I'm dead meat!' Gray Matter thought as he crawled on the ceiling. He could almost see the light at the end of the tunnel as he jumped off from the ceiling and to the ground. Gray Matter paled as he looked at the ground.
Which was completely covered in ice.
"Wooooooah!" Gray Matter yelped as he slid on the ice, belly down. Due to the speed of his jump and his small stature, he was sent barreling down past the rest of the students. Gray Matter used his hands to propel himself even further, eventually blitzing past a tired Aoyama. Gray Matter almost chuckled as he slid down the ice trail like it was a water slide.
"Nevermind, thanks Omni- Aaaaaah!" Gray Matter rolled onto dirt as the ice trail ended. His head spun for a bit as he looked up. His eyes widened at what he saw.
"Aw, man!" Gray Matter said as he gazed up at the robots from the entrance exam.
"But... are you ready for what's coming next?" Present Mic yelled from the commentators' booth as Gray Matter groaned.
Gray Matter yelped as someone nearly trampled him, the bottom of their shoes almost hitting the amphibian.
'Looks like the rest of the students who were left behind, caught up.' Gray Matter thought as he tried to take a peek at what was happening
Unfortunately, due to his small stature, Gray Matter couldn't see what was going on but the shouts and shoving sure has hell did not tell him anything
"And that's Shoto Todoroki from Class 1-A! You can say he just gave those robots the real cold shoulder!"
"You're not funny." Aizawa drawled.
Gray Matter crouched down and was ready to jump onto another student's shoulder when he vanished in green light once again.
"Four Arms? But I was just Gray Matter!" Four Arms said as the students around him yelped. He shoved his way out of the crowd as he saw the robots.
"Welcome…. To the Robo Inferno!" Present Mic yelled as all the robot's eyes glowed. Suddenly a large creak was heard from beneath one of the fallen robots Todoroki had left behind.
"If that was anyone else, they'd be dead!"
"If that was anyone else they'd be dead!"
Kirishima and Tetsutetsu got out from under their respective robots and looked at each other with widened eyes.
"Calm on man! It's hard enough to stand out as is!" Kirishima said as he ran up the robot he was trapped under. Four Arms ran forward, not hesitating as he rammed one of his arms into a 1 pointer decimating it.
He began to run quickly, bashing the robots out of his way, trying to keep up with the other. Suddenly, a zero pointer appeared in front of him, a gigantic behemoth the size of skyscrapers. Four Arms smiled.
"You know what they say. The bigger they are, the harder they fall!" Four Arms cocked his arm back ready to punch the zero pointer to kingdom come.
He was gone again in a flash of green light. Instead of the robot crumpling like a piece of tinfoil, it was instead encased in green and black circuitry as Upgrade melded with the machine.
"Upgrade? Okay, not that terrible of a choice, Omnitrix." Upgrade's tinny voice rang out from the robot startling the other contestants.
"I-Is he in the robot?" A boy asked as Upgrade turned back to wave at the cameras and other contestants.
"Woah! Izuku Midoriya from Class 1-A has just melded with one of the robots! Guess he took hacking in literally!" Present Mic screamed from the commentators' booth as Upgrade began to fly up into the air, rocket thrusters appearing on his back. The engines roared as he hovered in the air
Upgrade chuckled as he blasted into the air like a bullet. Reorienting himself, he began to fly forwards, the winds roaring around him as he took off like a fighter jet. Upgrade could hear the distant sound of explosions but ignored him as he stayed focused on his task.
Upgrade looked ahead and saw Shoto Todoroki, a yard or two away from him, look back in shock. The dual hair color boy gritted his teeth as he began to go faster. Upgrade narrowed his one eye and began to accelerate even faster, an outline of a cliff becoming visible. He passed Todoroki who had suddenly stopped.
Upgrade could hear the distant sound of explosions as a voice rang out from the commentator's booth.
"Heh, if you thought that was hard… welcome to the second portion of this event, The Fall! Take one slip and you're going down!" Present Mic announced as Upgrade's eye widened. He looked below him and saw nothing but a bottomless void.
He gulped as willed himself to go faster, not knowing if he would switch aliens at any moment.
Upgrade had flown about 8 feet until he was again masked by a brilliant green flash.
The robot fell into the bottomless chasm as Izuku yelped and flung his arms around, the entirety of his body covered in magma. Thinking quickly, he thrust his hands to his sides, his palm pointing downwards as he released a jet of flames beneath him.
Heatblast closed his eyes waiting to fall until he realized…
He opened his eyes and saw that he was flying.
"W-Woah!" Heatblast yelled as he looked at himself.
"Izuku Midoriya of Class 1-A has switched forms once again! Talk about a fire transformation!" Present Mic said as Aizawa audibly groaned.
'It's just like what I did with Feedback in the USJ. Easy, does it.' Heatblast repositioned his hands as he began to fly over the pit, the rest of the contestants having already caught up to the flaming alien.
He looked forwards and saw that Todoroki and Bakugou were already in front of him. He narrowed his eyes as he took off like a bullet leaving a flaming trail behind him. He looked behind him and saw Mei flying as well, armor made of green and black circuitry surrounding her. Not wanting to fall behind he increased his thrust.
Like a missile he blew past the other contestants, reaching the other side of the pit in seconds. Using his feet like additional thrusters he landed on the ground, smoke curling around him. Getting up from the ground he looked ahead as the smoke cleared.
"Izuku Midoriya speeds past the competition! But is he ready for the Mine Field!?" Present Mic said as Heatblast's eyes widened.
"A minefield?!" Heatblast said as he transformed again.
Looking down at his hands, he realized who he was and groaned.
"Ripjaws? Without any water? In a minefield?" Ripjaws said as he began to walk forward, being very careful to not step on any mines. The task was grueling and he could hear the other contestants behind him as he trudged on.
After a minute, Ripjaws was starting to get dehydrated. His breaths were becoming more ragged as Todoroki and Bakugou flew past him. He cursed as he collapsed on the ground, struggling to breathe.
"W-Water… I need water!" Ripjaws choked out as his eyes began to grow dim. He was about to give in to unconsciousness until he transformed once again.
"Rargh?" Wildmutt growled as he gasped for breath. The rest of the students around him backed off in shock as he got up and began to run forward. Using his enhanced smell, he traversed the minefield, quickly overtaking the other contestants.
He ran forward, as fast as his legs could take him as he began to get closer to Bakugou and Todoroki. The Omnitrix beeped again as he transformed, this time into Stinkfly.
Acting quickly, he flew into the air, over the minefields, rapidly approaching the two boys. Using one of his eyestalks, he aimed at Todoroki's left foot, trapping him in place with sticky goo. Bakugou looked back in shock as he scanned the creature behind him.
His eye fell on the dial and he… grinned?
"Finally! I've been waiting for your ass, Deku!" Bakugou yelled as he flung a couple of explosions at Stinkfly throwing the bug off course. He struggled to keep in the air as he crashed into the ground. Groaning, he looked up and saw that Todoroki had gotten free and that he and Bakugou were in the tunnel.
Stinkfly got up, his eyes closing as a green flash enveloped him.
Time began to slow down to a crawl as XLR8 opened his eyes.
His visor closed as XLR8 bolted forwards, a sonic boom appearing behind him, throwing the other contestants back with a gust of air as he ran straight for the end of the tunnel. The wind around him wooshed as he turned and saw Bakugou and Todoroki's eyes following him in slow motion.
He smirked, waved, and took off, exiting the tunnel and reaching the finish line. His visor opened up as the stadium erupted into cheers.
"I don't believe it! Izuku Midoriya of Class 1-A is in first place! He blitzes past the competition at the last moment, faster than the eye can see!"
XLR8 disappeared and in his place stood Izuku Midoriya grinning for the world to see.
He looked around and saw millions of people in the stands, and probably even more millions of aliens watching him from their homes.
Suddenly, that didn't make him scared, nervous, or anxious anymore. He beamed as he took a bow in front of the entire world, and by extension the universe.
Standing straight up, he pumped his left arm into the air, the Omnitrix dial on display for everyone to see.
"Woooooooooooooooooo!"
A/N: Yeah... it's been a while, lol. Sorry, I was really busy doing my finals and after they were done I got pretty sick. But I got around to it. Here it is, the Obstacle Race. Hopefully I did the idea of the randomizer function in the Obstacle Race justice lol.
Next chapter will be the Cavalry Battle.
Until next time.
